How to journey shamanically to meet nature and receive guidance - Maria Rodale

The Primal Happiness Show

This week's show is with Maria Rodale. Maria is an explorer in search of the mysteries of the universe. She is the author of Love, Nature, Magic: Shamanic Journeys into the Heart of My Garden, Organic Manifesto and Scratch and is the children's book author, Mrs. Peanuckle. Maria is also the co-chairman of the Rodale Institute, an independent scientific research and education non-profit that studies regenerative organic vs. chemical agriculture. Maria has received awards for her lifetime of service and activism, including the National Audubon Rachel Carson Award in 2004, United Nations Population Fund's Award for the Health and Dignity of Woman Everywhere in 2007, and The Auburn University International Quality of Life Award in 2014. And in 2017 she received an honorary Doctorate Degree from Delaware Valley University. Maria is a mother, grandmother, artist, and crazy gardener who lives in Pennsylvania, right near where she was born. In this show, Maria and Lian explored the topic of shamanic journeying, and how it can support us in developing a relationship with nature, especially with the plants around you. They spoke about the practicality of working shamanically in this way and how it can be used in everyday life to navigate relationships, understand oneself, and live in balance with nature - developing a collaborative relationship with the plants and animals around us. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll learn from this episode: Developing a relationship with nature, especially the beings around us - such as the plants and animals in our local land - is essential for rewilding and living in harmony with the natural world. Shamanic journeying can be a powerful tool for gaining insights and guidance, and it can be accessed through various resources and practices. Start with what annoys you in your garden or surroundings as a way to begin developing a relationship with nature and understanding the messages it has for you. The LIVE making of Lian's monthly solo show All The Everything (ATE) is recorded in our Facebook group and for the first 30mins before Lian hits the record button you are invited to a pre-show party to get up close and personal with Lian and have your questions on the show's topic answered. To receive a reminder of when the pre-show party and LIVE making of ATE is happening, make sure you're subscribed to our email list and are a member of the Facebook group. All the details you need are HERE! In this show, Lian tells the story of the Lindworm, setting the stage for a shamanic and alchemical journey through the tale. Spoiler alert! The story of the Lindworm follows a prince's quest for a bride, which becomes entangled with the monstrous Lindworm's demand to be married first. The tale explores themes of infertility, wisdom, rejection, regression, the power of love, and union, and Lian invites listeners to enter the story in a way that allows for these symbols to be revealed in their own psyches and lives to create illumination, understanding, and healing. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll learn from this episode: The telling of a story is an alchemical process that brings the tale to life and allows for personal interpretation and reflection, as Joseph Campbell said “A myth is something that has never happened, but is happening all the time.” The Lindworm shows the consequences of rejecting and neglecting unwanted aspects of oneself, leading to regression and monstrous manifestations. As Jung said “Every part of us we do not love will regress and become more primitive” The Lindworm is emblematic of the journey of individuation, healing, and inner union - and what's required for that to occur, including the role of wisdom and intuition in guiding one's actions and decisions, and the transformative power of love and acceptance in healing and uniting fragmented parts of the self. Welcome to another thought-provoking episode of the StreetSmart Wisdom Podcast. I'm your host, Steve Stein, and today we're diving deep into the soul-stirring realms of mythology and psychology. Joining us are two remarkable minds: poet, writer, and maverick of the mythopoetic men's movement, Robert Bly, along with the profound thinker and self-explorer, Mikey Bracket. In this episode, Robert shares the transformative power of myths like Iron John, illustrating how these ancient narratives offer timeless wisdom that helps us navigate personal and relational complexities. With captivating insights, he sheds light on the soul's journey through these stories, challenging us to venture inward before aiming upward. Mikey Bracket champions the idea of embracing our inner characters—the knight, the child, and even the evil stepmother—without judgment, as he reflects on Robert's influential work and storytelling paradigms. From a program Steve Stein reocorded and published on BetterListen.com , Robert brings to us invaluable lessons from the Lindworm myth and how it fosters deep self-exploration. They discuss the evolving landscape of men's psychology and therapy, reaffirming the essential role of Robert's work in fostering emotional awareness and growth within men's organizations. With a blend of personal anecdotes and expert knowledge, they highlight the significance of revisiting the roots of the men's movement to ignite genuine, radical change. This potent conversation is not just for the ears but for the soul as we explore the indispensability of mythology in our quest for understanding what it means to be truly human. So, prepare to engage with the profound as we unpack the connections between inner shadow work, mythology, and living a soulful life. This week, Fiona joined by Matt, Nat, Josh, and Strat from the Merely Roleplayers Podcast for ‘Sleepaway’, a game of horror, dreams, and summer camp, written by Jay Dragon. In ‘Sleepaway’, players play as camp counselors at a not-so-ordinary summer camp besieged by a strange and ominous cryptid known as the Lindworm. Isolated from civilization, the summer camp is seen as a beacon of safety, a refuge for misfit kids defined by their marginalization. As counselors of this summer camp, the players have each been traumatized by the Lindworm, in their own way. Whilst they remember little of that time, they don’t want anyone else to suffer at the hands of the Lindworm, and they’ll do anything to keep the camp safe no matter what. You can find out more information about ‘Sleepaway’ and Jay Dragon’s other products on itch.io.Timestamps:Merely Roleplayers Trailer: 00:00:00Intro: 00:00:47Recap and gameplay overview: 00:01:09One-shot start: 00:04:06Gameplay overview - Rituals: 01:08:33Outro and credits: 01:44:18CreditsThe 'What Am I Rolling?' podcast was created, recorded, and edited by Fiona Howat. The WAIR logo was created by Fiona Howat. This episode’s players were Matt Boothman, Natalie Winter, Josh Yard, and Richard Stratton Matt Boothman, Natalie Winter, Josh Yard, and Richard Stratton from the Merely Roleplayers Podcast. This episode’s RPG one-shot was ‘Sleepaway’, a game of horror, dreams, and summer camp, written by Jay Dragon. The story of the Lindworm is an old Norwegian Foktale that I have felt tap me on the shoulder over the last couple of weeks, with a curious nudge. "How would you see me differently if my genders were switched?" it asked " what would I taste like if the Queen were a King and the sons were daughters?" Well?

We play a GM'less game where everyone plays different camp counselors trying to stave off an attack from a creepy cryptid monster, the Lindworm. Also, we talk about the importance of finding a group you love to play with by sharing what you love. So, love of all kinds here. The game is called Sleepaway, and was written by Jay Dragon. [Warning] This episode contains explicit language and explicit themes. Listener discretion is advised. How relevant. Just when the project finally gets the call up to the big leagues and gets that illustrious green-light to beginning adapting its content into an anime, Glen and Lindworm are thrown into a pandemic narrative. filled with some of the most poignant medical banter, as well as some well structured philosophical conversations on race and purpose, this fan-service heavy light novel goes deep into the psyche of humanity, even if it's quite possible you miss it because you're distracted by a genuinely funny plot. Challenging his grievances, Danny has to approach this novel in a different manner and tries to look beyond his trope-scope and give this novel its due. ~Follow all the Legionaries on Twitter~ Danny: twitter.com/legionsarchive The Tsar: twitter.com/TsarAlexander6 Allen: twitter.com/blkydpease Spangar: twitter.com/LSFspangar ~Credits~ Original Sound Cloud imagery taken from Seven Seas Entertainment at https://sevenseasentertainment.com/books/monster-girl-doctor-vol-5/ Original Cover Art owned by Origuchi Yoshino, Z-ton, KC Fabellon, Seven Seas Entertainment, and Shueisha Inc. The best stories, he says, ought to be trailed not trapped, and approached with discernment, an open heart, and an attuned ear. He began our conversation by telling the story of the Lindworm, an old Norwegian tale about a mythical creature that is part human and part snake.
