Season 4 Episode 1 In this episode, Fr. Martin Connor, LC, engages in a thought-provoking conversation with Fr. Steven Reilly, LC, on the crucial importance of self-awareness and emotional intelligence. They delve into how modern lifestyles often prioritize constant movement and distraction, leaving little space for introspection. This lack of self-awareness can quietly influence individuals, impacting their relationships and behaviors without their conscious recognition. By exploring these dynamics, they uncover how unprocessed emotions can unexpectedly manifest in actions, underscoring the significance of acknowledging and understanding our internal states for personal growth and healthier interactions. Father Steven Reilly, LC, is a member of the Legionaries of Christ. After having joined the congregation in 1982, he was ordained to the priesthood in 1994, in Mexico City.  He studied philosophy in Rome at the Pontifical Gregorian University and theology at the Legion's own Pontifical University, Regina Apostolorum, also in Rome. He worked in Dallas, Washington, D.C., and New York. In 2020, he was named to the territorial council for the Legion's North American territory and joined the territorial directorate community in Cumming, Georgia. His younger brother is also a priest in the Legion, Father Scott Reilly LC, who is currently assigned as the Legion's center near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The work to become a priest is not easy but it is full of joy as you will see with this conversation with Brother Andrew. Brother Andrew Torrey is in his last year of 14 years of formation with the Legionaries of Christ in Rome. In the spring of 2024, he will be ordained and assigned to a parish somewhere else in the world.  For many of us, 14 years of religious study and the anxiety of an unknown future living location might seem overwhelming. But Brother Andrew is putting his trust in God and knows that his purpose, his calling and the real work to become a priest is about helping others get to Heaven (his eternal impact). Brother Andrew is a terrific representation of the future of the Catholic Church and proof of how Church leaders are changing. Brother Andrew comfortably and wisely addresses many of the questions, the obstacles and the misconceptions that some see hindering the growth of the church such as the priest scandals and shortages. Brother advises that God is love and addressing weakness is a strength of Jesus! Brother Andrew also talks more about how we can all grow through our faith and our challenges on his podcast, Pause and Play (also on Facebook). In addition, you can catch him on an episode of Many Hail Marys, where he prays the Rosary and then shares more about his personal faith journey in the second half of the show. You can listen to Matt's interview here or you view the interview online.

Pope Benedict XVI: Shepherd, Father, and Co-Worker of the Truth for the Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi The news of the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has touched all of us very deeply. As we mourn his loss at the age of 95, we remember how he invited the Legionaries of Christ and Regnum Christi to be co-workers of the truth with the Papacy and the Church. 14:19 Benedict the Great: His Spiritual and Theological Legacy Fr. Sameer Advani, LC, explains how Pope Benedict XVI was convinced that at its very core Christianity was not a series of ideas, doctrines, and ethical commandments, but the living encounter with the God who as Love freely chose to enter into a relationship of love with each and every human being, and the vast majority of his meditations, homilies, conferences, and even his more theologically sophisticated writings all revolved around this simple, but profoundly spiritual central idea. 29:52 A Name Above the Rest Devotion to the Holy Name is deeply rooted in Scripture. Just repeating the name reverently can instill as much hope and comfort in a believer as it does fear in a demon. Reverence for the name of Jesus can be a way to distance ourselves from the coarseness that often surrounds us in the media and in public life.

The Diocese of Brooklyn said May 29 that “the Holy Eucharist housed inside the Tabernacle was thrown all over the altar.” The burglary was discovered by Father Frank Tumino, the parish pastor, on the afternoon of May 28, and is suspected to have taken place the previous day. Police have estimated the 19th-century tabernacle's value at $2 million. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251406/tabernacle-stolen-from-brooklyn-parish-church Pope Francis on Tuesday attended the funeral Mass of the former Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Angelo Sodano. Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the dean of the College of Cardinals, presided at the ceremony in Saint Peter's Basilica on May 31. Photographs showed the 85-year-old pope seated in a wheelchair as the Mass was celebrated at the Altar of the Chair. Sodano, an influential Vatican diplomat who served as dean of the College of Cardinals until 2019, died on May 27 at the age of 94. Cardinal Re praised Cardinal Sodano's “gifts of intellect and heart, his sensitivity to the pastoral aims of the Church's action in the world, his wisdom in assessing events, and situations and his readiness to help, seeking appropriate solutions in every case.”The cardinal's final years were overshadowed by allegations that he covered up sexual abuse by Legionaries of Christ founder Marcial Maciel, former U.S. Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, and others. Sodano's name was mentioned 30 times in the McCarrick Report, published in 2020. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251411/pope-francis-attends-funeral-of-cardinal-sodano Archbishops José Gomez of Los Angeles and Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco both welcomed the announcement Sunday that Bishop Robert McElroy of San Diego is to become a cardinal, along with 20 other men from around the world. “As brother bishops, we've worked together on many issues and initiatives in service to the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, as well as the California Catholic Conference,” Archbishop Gmexz said. “His strong faith and the pastoral concern for the faithful he has shown in his diocese will serve the global Church well. Please join me in praying for the continued ministry of Bishop McElroy.” Pope Francis will create the 21 new cardinals in August. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/251405/bishops-in-us-congratulate-bishop-mcelroy-on-his-elevation-to-cardinal Today, the Church celebrates the feast of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, commemorating when Mary left Nazareth at the end of March and went over the mountains to Hebron, south of Jerusalem, to visit her cousin Elizabeth. Feeling the presence of his Divine Savior, John, upon the arrival of Mary, leaped for joy in the womb of his mother. The earliest evidence of the existence of the feast is its adoption by the Franciscan Chapter in 1263, upon the advice of Saint Bonaventure. https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/saint/feast-of-the-visitation-of-the-virgin-mary-255

28 Legionaries of Christ Ordained to the Priesthood in Rome by Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello On May 7, 2022, after two pandemic years which precluded the Congregation from holding their traditional annual ordinations as a cohort in Rome, Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello ordained 28 priests of the Legionaries of Christ in the Pontifical Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls. The return to the Eternal City was a welcome event and a celebration of God's call to follow him in total self-giving through the priesthood. 5:53 Pinecrest Academy Challenge Girls Club serves the most vulnerable in Atlanta The Pinecrest Challenge Girls Club is a service-based, apostolic ECYD after school club at Pinecrest Academy, a private preK-12 Catholic School in Cumming, Georgia. The group meets regularly in teams to grow in friendship with Christ and with each other, and to undertake apostolic projects to serve their community throughout the year. And this year, the club has spent time learning about, praying for, and serving on of downtown Atlanta's most vulnerable and at-risk populations. 10:44 Believing in the Lord's Promise Every disciple of the Lord faces two basic doubts – filtered, however, through apparently endless permutations. The first is a doubt about God's goodness; the second is a doubt about his power. The month of May is dedicated especially to the Blessed Mother, and Mary, more than any other human person, illustrates how to face these temptations.
