Jonathan William King Lewis (“Jon Boy”) was born to Kathy Shropshire and Johnny Lewis on February 26, 1980 in Dallas, Texas. After graduating from high school in Kopperl, he worked in construction, and he also spent several years as a material parts handler at L3 in Waco, Texas. Most recently, he worked as a heavy machinery operator for McLennan County where he quickly formed close relationships with his co-workers. He looked forward to going to work every day because he enjoyed his time spent with a special group of men. Jon married the love of his life, Meaghan, on July 18, 2009. Jon leaves behind two siblings, his sister, Magean Robinson and her husband, Tim, as well as his brother, Josh Lewis and his fiancé, Christy Weeks, and his children, Isabella and Tony. Jon looked forward to spending time with Magean and Tim's children, Cooper, Carson, Callie, Canyon, and Connor in Oklahoma. Jon also shared a close bond and special memories with his cousin, Holly Willenborg, and her husband, Troy, as well as their daughters, Katie and Karley. Meaghan's parents, Binky and David “Big D” Neal, as well as her sisters, Delaney Woodell and Kaitlin Killgore and her husband Clint and their children, Allie and Maggie, shared a very special relationship with Jon. Meaghan's father, Kenneth Woodell, and her grandmother, Norma Woodell are also left behind to cherish memories with Jon. Jon was also part of a special group of friends known as the Sunday Supper Club; Jon will forever have a place at their table and in their hearts. Most importantly, Jon was a husband who deeply loved his wife of fifteen years and was so proud of his kids. Jon beamed every time Meaghan walked into the room. Through the example Jon set in the way he loved and cared for Meaghan; his children, Nolan and Reihan, have learned what it means to love and serve within a marriage. He taught them the importance of faith, fellowship, and putting Jesus first. Even when he was fighting an incredibly difficult battle with cancer and dealing with physical pain, he made it a priority to be with his family at church. In Jon's last few days this side of Heaven, he repeatedly reminded those around him to speak words of love and encouragement to each other. He took every opportunity he had to tell Meaghan, Nolan, and Reihan how much he loves them. And they did the same. Jon was a faithful child of God who knew without a doubt where his eternal home would be. Someday, we'll be in Heaven and get to meet all of the people who are there because their paths crossed the path of Jon Lewis. Jon impacted lives not just with words but in the way he lived his life. He modeled humility, hard work, sincerity , and a devotion to the things in life that really matter. We can honor Jon and his family by striving to do the same.Jon's life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 14 at 10:00 AM at Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. Cary Killough will officiate. Jon and Meaghan want this to be a time to celebrate Jon's life and their family as well as time to share their faith. We also want this to be an opportunity for Meaghan, Nolan, and Reihan to see how many lives have been impacted by their precious family and to see the commitment of friends, family, and the community in supporting them.“For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you ‘Do no fear, I will help you.'”Isaiah 41:13Please deliver flowers to Meadowbrook Baptist Church.

Baylor was the final Power 5 institution for which an NIL Collective - or in this case, an NIL Collective-type organization - was formed. Candy Williams couldn't believe her luck. She'd been out on the beach in late 2005, when a handsome stranger approached her. His name was Jovan Collier. The pair quickly hit it off. Jovan was charming and funny -- and not at all afraid of commitment. Three months later, Candy and Jovan were living together and planning to get married. But as Candy later discovered, there was quite a bit she didn't know about Jovan. The least of which was his actual name.  Then Kristin tells us about Sharee and Warren Smith, who were living quiet lives in Birmingham, raising their young son. One day, an older man knocked on their door. He told Sharee that he was considering moving in next door. When Sharee asked him why he was moving, he told her that his neighbors were too loud. He suspected they were drug dealers. Sharee felt sorry for the old man. A few weeks later, the man -- Harry Street -- moved in next door with his wife and their young daughter. Pretty quickly, he proved to be a nightmare neighbor. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: An episode of Nightmare Neighbour Next Door (season four, episode 5) “The night Barry Williams killed five people after neighbour dispute over noise,” by Nick McCarthy for the Birmingham Mail “Shooting spree killer Harry Street detained over bomb and weapons,” BBC “Harry Street: 1978 West Bromwich killings remembered,” BBC “Mass killer Harry Street detained indefinitely over weapons charges,” The Guardian “Harry Street: Timeline of a serial killer,” Birmingham Mail In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “A Teen Killer's Dark Secret” by Bruce Vielmetti, The Journal Sentinel “Teen's Dark Secret: He Murdered His Family” by Ashley Bridges and Miguel Sancho “From Teen Killer to Obsessive Stalker: How a boy who slayed 3 members of his family ended u behind bars 25 years later” The Daily Mail “Man who slaughtered family 30 years ago arrested in Texas for harassing ex-fiancee who learned of his past” by Sasha Goldstein, New York Daily News “Convicted killer pleads guilty to harassing 3 McLennan County women” by Tommy Witherspoon, Waco Tribune-Herald YOU'RE STILL READING? Mallory Harrington serves as the hemp banking compliance officer at TFNB Your Bank for Life in Waco, Texas.  She has over 11 years of community banking experience ranging from operations to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, and hemp-related business regulation compliance. While working in the field of regulatory compliance, Mallory quickly realized how under served the hemp industry is when it comes to financial services.  With the help of her team, she set out to build a commercial baking program built around compliance for an industry that needs it most.  TFNB started its commercial hemp banking program in December of 2020.  Founded as The First National Bank of McGregor in 1889, TFNB is the oldest bank in McLennan County and the seventh oldest national bank in Texas still operating under its original charter.  TFNB has served McLennan County and the surrounding communities for more than 130 years. With nearly 100 employees strong and growing, we continue to thoughtfully expand our footprint within to provide true community-banking services to more individuals and businesses.  Thanks to technology, banking with us has no locational boundaries.

Coach Abar Rouse shares his journey from moving from New York to Texas when he was growing up and then his decade of coaching college basketball at the DI, NAIA, D2 and JUCO ranks. He was a Student Manager at Midwestern State before transferring to Baylor to and immediately being named Head Student Manager and then returned to Midwestern State after graduating. His coaching dream took him to multiple states in different time zones just trying to move up the ranks. After having a tremendous squad at McClennan CC and interacting with numerous college coaches like Bob Knight, he accepted a job at his alma mater as Baylor's Director of Basketball Operations under Dave Bliss. In 2003 a murder took place and one of their players [Patrick Dennehy] was the victim. Dave Bliss not only paid the tuition of multiple players and tried to make the late Patrick Dennehy out to be a drug dealer. Despite the potential allegations of extortion, obstruction of justice and witness tampering, no criminal charges were filed against Bliss. Coach Rouse sought advice from coaching mentors and friends in the business as well as lawyers. He was threatened by his boss [Bliss] to go along with the scheme or he would be fired, and ultimately took the advice of his coaching mentors [some of whom are still in the business] recorded Bliss instructing players to fabricate the story of Dennehy being a drug dealer to the University's investigative committee and also said that talking to the McLennan County, Texas Sheriff's Department would give him the opportunity to "practice" his story. The tapes also showed that Bliss and his staff knew that Dennehy had been threatened by two of their teammates when they publicly denied such knowledge. Afterwards Coach Rouse was the lone member of the staff who did not receive a show clause penalty from the NCAA, yet was essentially blackballed by the coaching fraternity. One of his idols Mike Krzyzewski, was one of the prominent coaches who publicly criticized him yet Coach Rouse didn't blame Coach K since he didn't have all of the facts. He managed to land back at Midwestern State for a third stint under Coach Jeff Ray, but ultimately left the business on his own terms after a successful season there. He began a career with overseeing and managing prison which was much more stable and allowed him to develop. I personally look forward to Abar Rouse coaching basketball again after he can retire from his non-coaching career. He provides great insight for aspiring coaches as well as shares his opinions on the Adidas scandal as well as other current events.

Feazell announced his candidacy for District Attorney of McLennan County in Waco, Texas in 1982. He would go on to win the election against the incumbent district attorney and became one of the youngest to hold the position in McLennan County. During his first term as District Attorney, Feazell tried the 1982 Lake Waco Triple Murders. In 1984, a jury found David Wayne Spence guilty of the murders and sentenced him to the death penalty. A chronicle of the Lake Waco Murders can be found in the Edgar Award-winning book Careless Whispers by Carlton Stowers.Feazell notes on his website that he is "now a vocal advocate against the death penalty."In 1984, after Henry Lee Lucas claimed to have killed over 300 people across the country, the Texas Rangers announced numerous murders to have been solved. Three of these announced murders were in McLennan County. This prompted Feazell to begin investigating the claims. This resulted in the Lucas Report. The report suggested that Lucas could not have committed some of the murders to which he had confessed. A decision afterwards resulted in Feazell's arrest. There were nineteen agents in town for Feazell’s arrest and the search of his office and home.Feazell's arrest came seven weeks before election day. Voters in McLennan County re-elected Feazell for another term. During the criminal investigation leading up to Feazell’s indictment, a reporter from Dallas television station WFAA-TV named Charles Duncan ran an eleven-part series about Feazell, which later led to a libel judgement in favor of Feazell worth $58 million. This series was the only evidence shown to the federal grand jury that indicted Feazell.Feazell was found not guilty of all charges on June 29, 1987. Feazell then returned to work as District Attorney of McLennan County. On September 13, 1988, Feazell sent out a press release stating he would be resigning as District Attorney.Feazell then began representing Lucas in all of the still-pending murder cases he had confessed to around the country. Feazell spent much of the 1990s representing Lucas to ensure he was not convicted based on any more false confessions. The work done by Feazell and others cast enough doubt on the validity of the Lucas confession to the Orange Socks murder case that in 1998 then-Governor George W. Bush commuted Lucas’s death penalty to life imprisonment. In 1991, represented by former U.S. Attorney Gary Richardson, Feazell was awarded a $58 million judgment for libel charges against WFAA-TV, at the time the largest libel judgment in U.S. history. As a result, he was cited in the 1993 edition of Guinness World Records for largest defamation lawsuit in history. In the 21st century, Feazell formed his own law office, The Law Offices of Vic Feazell with offices presently in Austin and Waco, Texas. The offices work primarily with personal injury cases and occasionally criminal cases. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
