See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
One of my favorite growth experiences is travel. Through travel, you never come back the same person, constantly expanding who you are becoming. My most recent trip to Morocco, like so many other trips I have taken, was an amazing adventure and reminded me of some life's cornerstone lessons. In this episode I will retrace my footsteps, sharing the lessons from this magical place. To subscribe, comment or ask a question, visit www.donnyraus.com

Rabbi Klapper is a widely published author in prestigious Hebrew and English journals. He is frequently consulted on issues of Jewish law from representatives of all streams of Judaism and responds from an explicit and uncompromised Orthodox stance.
Cold Medina is a musician, poet, teacher and rapper. He is also Senior Communications Manager at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. “ Music has this power - this vehicle for social change, to make waves, to have conversations that maybe people aren't having. And if they are having them, it's not really having a broad reach. But if you put it into the music, if you put it into that format it can travel a lot further. Once I saw the impact of that, the power of that […] I realized we can really take these political conversations and bring them to the masses in a way that maybe isn't necessarily - it's not that you are sneaking it in. It's like putting a little cheese on the broccoli so people can eat their vegetables and get that good nourishment. Nourish their mind, nourish their soul.” Medina explains the power that music has for social change and as a medium to communicate to the masses. In this episode he shares with us how his experiences growing up in a Mexican and Nicaragüense household shaped his early interest in art. His parents shared with him varied music genres such as soul, rock and latin hip hop. Later through highschool art classes and sharing time with friends and family who had an interest in music his passion was ignited. Cold Medina reminds us to show the love to our craft that it deserves. Listen and view Medinas work on his LinkTree and album Knights in Tropicana wherever you listen to music.
In this series of interviews, I have a conversation with my amazing friend Elisa Medina who is an incredible wife, mother, and impact maker. Elisa shares how the tragic and sudden death of her mother drove her to a life of drug & alcohol abuse and wild living in her teens. She fled to the northeast corner of the country to live with a family member who supported her wild living and even encouraged Elisa to get an abortion when she was confronted with an unplanned pregnancy. Elisa shares how there are no accidental parents as God used this unplanned pregnancy to pull her out of her wild life and get on a path to Uncommon Freedom®. Her father's support and encouragement gave her the courage to keep her baby and move back to Tucson, AZ. After becoming a single mother, Elisa began working at Hands of Hope, a resource center for women facing the challenges of an unplanned or even unwanted pregnancy. She eventually became the CEO and served in that capacity until she stepped down in 2020 to be more present in her home. Elisa and her husband Fernando are currently focused on helping people thrive in their mind, body, and finances through their organization Medinas on Mission. About Elisa: Elisa Medina is the Co-Founder of Medinas on Mission along with her husband Fernando. She is a certified Health and Wellness Coach and has a passion to see people thrive in all areas of their health...body, mind, and finances. Together they have four children and three grandchildren and reside in Tucson, Arizona. Elisa spent 16 years serving in Pro-life Ministry. Most recently, she held the CEO position at Hands of Hope located in Tucson, Arizona until stepping down in 2020 to be more present in the home. She is a gifted communicator, speaker, and mentor. She is often sought out to speak about pro-life issues, leadership, marriage and parenting, and healing from trauma. Her personal life experiences compel her to be vulnerable in order to connect authentically with her audience. Her ultimate life-long pursuit is to live and love like Jesus. Etapa brasileira do CT encerrada.
R.I.P Beauty! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Joey Moe.
The U.S. Senate will go back into session Sept. 8. Among the people hoping the GOP-controlled chamber will help the U.S. Postal Service are a New Berlin couple, Beth and Manny Medina. The Medinas, Marine Corps veterans, joined Wis. Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin Thursday at a news conference outside a postal sorting facility in Oak Creek. Manny Medina said he suffers from continuous migraine headaches and usually gets prescription drugs from the VA through the mail within two or three days of placing an order. Recently, the wait has grown to seven to nine days, and Medina said the delay has meant more pain. "Pretty uncomfortable, sometimes unbearable. I just have to deal with it. There's no other substitute of medicine I could take for it,” Medina told reporters. Medina said he's noticed delays in other mail to his house, and he and his wife blame the problems on changes to post office staffing and sorting machines ordered by Trump administration Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

You would think that your city’s wealthiest suburb would always have enough money to keep the streetlights on and the roads paved. You’d probably also think that the suburb that the two wealthiest people on Earth call home would be able to pave its roads in gold and light its streets with Hollywood-style glamor lighting that makes everyone it shines on look ten pounds thinner. On both counts, you’d be wrong. Earlier this week, CNBC offered an update to the story of Medina, Washington, a wealthy enclave outside of Seattle that billionaires Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates both call home. Medina has been making headlines for a surprising reason: they’re struggling to find the money to deliver the services that residents need, even though some of those resident’s homes (CoughGatesCough) have 24 bathrooms, something called a “trampoline room,” valuations of over $131 million, and owners who can comfortably pay over $1 million a year in property taxes. The reason why, CNBC suggests, has to do with a state cap on property taxes that distorts how much money actually goes to local needs and keeps the Bezoses of the world from paying what it actually costs to maintain the infrastructure that surrounds their mega-mansions—and if Washington just let the Medinas of the world have a little more local control, they’d finally be able to make the math work. The Strong Towns staff wondered, though, whether making Medina strong was really just a matter of twiddling a few taxation knobs on the governance control panel. So host Kea Wilson, and guest host + reluctant Seattleite, John Reuter, decided to dive in and talk it out. Would raising local and state tax rates really give wealthy communities like Medina the cash they need to pay for the suburban way of life—or is their development pattern simply so insolvent that even their high-earning residents would balk at that price tag? If Bezos and Gates decided to pay their city’s tax bill themselves, should Medina throw a party, or start worrying about what happens when the billionaires (or their heirs, or even the mere millionaires) pack up someday and leave, as has happened in so many American suburbs already? Do luxury homes and overbuilt road networks even make us happy in the long run, even if we can figure out how to afford it all? And most importantly: is one of Bill Gates’ 24 bathrooms also a trampoline room?! The comedic possibilities are endless! Then in the DownZone, John and Kea talk the very different ways they’re celebrating Halloween: John, by dressing his dog up as Chewbacca and reflecting on the role of heroism in the Star Wars franchise, and Kea, by reading a spooky-good new novel by Helen Phillips (and, okay, dressing her dog up as Superman, but that’s just a gimme.)
