Ep 89 – George Floyd's Murder Was A Hit I realized that the facts did not add up, especially when I learned that the two men knew each other and had worked together at the same nightclub. Listed below are my notes for the podcast. Please do your homework and see if you come to the same conclusion.   SUMMARY 1. George Floyd, a black man whose death Monday sparked ongoing protests, and Derek Chauvin, identified by local media as the officer who was videotaped kneeling on Floyd's neck for minutes shortly before his death, worked at the same nightclub  Maya Santamaria owned El Nuevo Rodeo Club in Minneapolis' south side until selling it just months ago, and confirmed to local media outlets that both Floyd and Chauvin worked security at the establishment. Chauvin worked outside the club while security guards, like Floyd, worked inside. They had overlapping shifts. They had to have known each other. El Nuevo Rodeo Club, where Chauvin and Floyd both worked, is just down the street from Minneapolis' Third Precinct.   2. Chauvin married a Hmong woman, and two other arresting officers are of Hmong descent.   3. Hmong Gangs are very active in the Northeast, including the gang Menace of Destruction (MOD). MOD is known for prostitution, drugs, and counterfeiting.   4. Despite having Chauvin as off-duty security outside the club, the police could never solve the crimes or connect the suspects to El Nuevo Rodeo Club activity.   5. In 2012, the FBI busted a drug ring that involved the Mexican gang La Familia (also known for drugs and counterfeiting) and the Hmong gang Menace of Destruction. The ring involved the selling of methamphetamine, a “Club Drug” being pushed by Mexican cartels.     EL NUEVO RODEO CLUB – MAY HAVE BEEN GROUND ZERO FOR COUNTERFEITING. Owned by Maya Santamaria, a singer, waitress, and music promoter with a degree in anthropology. The city is pushing to shut down the Rodeo. The nightclub's future lies in the hands of a judge who is deciding whether to recommend that the City Council yank its liquor license. In 2006, the club got slapped with fines for violating city code: It had hosted more people than the fire code allowed, had advertised as a nightclub when it was licensed as a restaurant/nightclub, and was Questioned about selling more alcohol than food (the liquor license requires that 60 percent of sales be food).   That December, city officials convened to determine whether El Nuevo Rodeo's liquor license should be renewed. Santamaria agreed to submit her food and alcohol receipts for the next year.   In April 2008, three people were shot outside of Denny's, right across the street from the nightclub. A story in the Longfellow/Nokomis Messenger connected the shooting to nightclub patrons, though police were never able to prove it.   On November 14, 2008 there were multiple police calls associated with the nightclub.  Incidents ranged from shots fired (almost an officer-involved shooting), to several felony assaults (on patrons and staff), to numerous misdemeanors (obstructing, disorderly conduct, assault, theft   The city compiled its case against the nightclub: a stack of 28 police call reports from 2008 and six from 2009. The city attorney on the case described the business as having "an inordinately high number of incidents of criminal behavior."   DEREK CHAUVIN – MAY HAVE BEEN IN HMONG GANG Records show that the 44-year-old Chauvin initially studied cooking before taking courses in law enforcement and doing two stints in the Army as a military police officer in the late 1990s, serving at Fort Benning, Georgia, and in Germany.   Chauvin became a Minneapolis police officer in 2001. He had 17 complaints against him, including one for pulling a woman out of her car during a speeding stop.   He won two medals of valor, one in 2006 for being part of a group of officers who opened fire on a stabbing suspect who pointed a shotgun at them and another in 2008 for a domestic violence incident in which Chauvin broke down a bathroom door and shot a suspect in the stomach.   Married to Kellie Chauvin, a Laotian immigrant who became the first Hmong winner of the Mrs. Minnesota pageant.   In 2009, he single-handedly apprehended a group of gang members while working as an off-duty security guard at the El Nuevo Rodeo, a Minneapolis nightclub. (Chauvin shoots most suspects but apprehends an entire gang BY HIMSELF. This does not add up).   HMONG GANGS IN MINNEAPOLIS - MENACE OF DESTRUCTION" (MOD), FORMERLY KNOWN AS "MASTERS OF DESTRUCTION – LINKED TO “CLUB DRUGS” AND COUNTERFEITING is a Hmong street gang created in 1988. Today, it is active in every state, with a large Hmong community in California, the Midwestern United States, known for prostitution, money laundering, the distribution of narcotics, and counterfeiting.   A national drug ring based in Twin Cities was busted after months of surveillance and wiretaps in March 2012. The cartel La Familia smuggled millions of dollars worth of methamphetamine from Mexico to Minnesota. The drugs then went through a local member of the cartel and the Menace of Destruction gang.   La Familia is also known for counterfeiting. Eleven-year veteran and native Hmong speaker Tou Thao began as a community service officer and was the subject of six complaints.   No longer chiefly made by "cooks" in makeshift labs in the U.S., methamphetamine is now the domain of Mexican drug cartels that are mass-producing high-quality quantities of the drug and pushing it into markets where it was previously unknown.   While methamphetamine remains a street drug in many parts of the country, it functions as a “club drug” in the Northeast United States. While diffused to the Northeast, certain elements of the drug economy and networks of use have allowed it to retain its status as a club drug. Methamphetamine use has been found in a range of club subcultures, including electronic dance music clubs, raves, and circuit parties (Mansergh et al., 2001; McCaughan, Carlson, Falck, & Siegal, 2005; Yacoubian et al., 2004).    THE ARREST – LOOKED LIKE AN EXECUTION 46-year-old George Floyd was arrested on suspicion of forgery on May 25. Cellphone video of Floyd's May 25 arrest showed Chauvin placing his left knee on Floyd's neck with Lane holding Floyd's legs and Kueng holding his back while Thao stood between the officers and onlookers, according to charging documents.Join The Community Follow us on:Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/quantumAIradioTwitter (X) at @EventHo14339589Instagram at @EventHorizonEmail at mpeter1896@gmail.com   Subscribe To My Other Podcasts:Movie Reviews from the Edge - https://www.spreaker.com/show/movie-reviews-from-the-edgeThe Mark Peterson Show - https://www.spreaker.com/show/the_mark_peterson_show     Support the Show Did you know you can support the podcast by joining the Spreaker Supporter Club? The open-top tractor-trailer was traveling north on SR-165 in Columbiana County when the accident occurred, CBS News reported. Driver Phillip Falck, 74, went off the right side of the road and hit a ditch and a utility pole before overturning, the outlet said. Officers who responded found the truck “on its side,’” per the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The local fire department and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency also responded. It was decided that the 20,000 pounds of spilled soil was contained and did not threaten any waterways. Falck sustained minor injuries and was cited for operating a vehicle without reasonable control, WFMJ reported. The soil onboard was being transported away from East Palestine, where a Norfolk Southern train derailed on Feb. 3, releasing multiple hazardous substances into the surrounding area. Residents were evacuated, and thousands of fish reportedly died from exposure to the toxins. More than two months later, the process of removing contaminated soil and water from the site remains ongoing. On Monday, state officials said approximately 11.4 million gallons of wastewater had been hauled out of the area, in addition to 19,900 tons of soil. A new health clinic, the East Liverpool City Hospital East Palestine Clinic, also opened in the area on Monday. It will replace the temporary assessment clinic that opened in the wake of the derailment. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/manhattan-da-alvin-bragg-sues-rep-jim-jordan-trump-indictment-subpoena Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg sues Rep. Jim Jordan over Trump indictment subpoenas Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on Tuesday filed a federal lawsuit against Rep. Jim Jordan, alleging that the Republican lawmaker is trying to wage a campaign of intimidation over his prosecution of former President Donald Trump. In his lawsuit, the Democratic D.A. said he's taking legal action "in response to an unprecedently brazen and unconstitutional attack by members of Congress on an ongoing New York State criminal prosecution and investigation of former President Donald J. Trump." Bragg is asking a judge to invalidate subpoenas that Jordan, the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, has or plans to issue as part of an investigation of Bragg's handling of the Trump case. "The Manhattan D.A.'s Office focuses on the law and the evidence, not political gamesmanship or threats. We look forward to presenting our case in court to enjoin enforcement of the subpoena." The case is assigned to U.S. District Mary Kay Vyskocil, a Trump appointee who previously served as a federal bankruptcy court judge. In recent weeks, the Judiciary Committee issued a subpoena seeking testimony from a former prosecutor, Mark Pomerantz, who previously oversaw the Trump investigation. The committee has also sought documents and testimony about the case from Bragg and his office. Bragg has rejected those requests. Trump was indicted late last month on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records related to hush-money payments made during the 2016 presidential campaign to bury allegations that he had extramarital sexual encounters. The 2024 presidential contender has denied wrongdoing and pleaded not guilty at an arraignment in Manhattan last week. The House Judiciary Committee is scheduled to hold a hearing in Manhattan on Monday on crime in New York City and what it alleges are Bragg's "pro-crime, anti-victim" policies. The D.A.'s office, however, points to statistics showing that violent crime in Manhattan has dropped since Bragg took office in January 2022. https://justthenews.com/government/state-houses/newsom-stockpiles-2-million-abortion-pills-so-californians-can-access-them Newsom stockpiles 2 million abortion pills so Californians can access them after judge's ruling California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom is stockpiling as much as 2 million misoprostol pills used to terminate a pregnancy – after a federal judge's ruling last week sought to halt the FDA's approval of another abortifacient, mifepristone. "We will not cave to extremists who are trying to outlaw these critical abortion services," Newsom said Monday in announcing his plan. "Medication abortion remains legal in California." Mifepristone is used in conjunction with misoprostol to terminate a pregnancy through 10 weeks of gestation, according to the FDA. Misoprostol still can effectively terminate a pregnancy when used alone, according to a National Institutes of Health study but the Food and Drug Administration has not approved it for abortions. The Biden administration is appealing the ruling from the Texas-based federal judge that brought mifepristone's status into question. The case is expected to be heard by the Supreme Court. https://bongino.com/15-days-to-slow-the-spread-ends-after-1120-days "15 Days to Slow the Spread" Ends After 1,120 Days https://dailycaller.com/2023/04/11/governor-shut-down-church-pay-fee-kentucky-andrew-beshear/ On Monday, Joe Biden signed a GOP-led resolution that brought the national emergency over the COVID-19 pandemic to an end. And just like that, “15 days to slow the spread” was over….. after 1120 days. As the New York Post reported: Biden signed the legislation behind closed doors on the eve of his trip Tuesday to Northern Ireland and the White House acknowledged the milestone without fanfare in a brief late-afternoon email that read: “On Monday, April 10, 2023, the President signed into law: H.J.Res. 7, which terminates the national emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic.” The legislation drafted by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) passed the House 229-197 in February, with a handful of Democratic supporters, and then the Senate 68-23 last month with about half of the chamber’s Democrats voting in favor. In January, the White House said that Biden would end both the national emergency and a separate public health emergency on May 11 after more than 1 million Americans died from the respiratory disease that originated in Wuhan, China. If the national emergency and the powers it afforded the government prevented even a single person from contracting COVID, the evidence has yet to be seen. Matt Palumbo is the author of Fact-Checking the Fact-Checkers: How the Left Hijacked and Weaponized the Fact-Checking Industry and The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros https://dailycaller.com/2023/04/11/governor-shut-down-church-pay-fee-kentucky-andrew-beshear/ Dem Governor Who Shut Down Churches During COVID Ordered To Pay Over $270,000 In Attorney’s Fees A federal appeals court ruled Monday that three individuals who sued the Kentucky governor for their right to assemble for worship during COVID-19 must be paid over $270,000 in attorney’s fees. Randall Daniel, Theodore Roberts, and Sally O’Boyle sued in August 2020 after they received notices logging their attendance at Maryville Baptist Church’s Easter Service and informing them they must quarantine or face “further enforcement measures.” The group alleged Democratic Governor Andrew Beshear’s bans on religious gatherings and interstate travel violated their constitutional rights, which the Sixth Circuit affirmed in May 2020, according to court documents. On Monday, the Sixth Circuit upheld a district court ruling awarding the congregants $272,142.50 in attorney’s fees, rejecting the governor’s challenges. “I know a lot of people who are outraged that the TAXPAYER is on the hook for ANDY’S constitutional violation,” said Roberts in a tweet. “I share this outrage, but this outrage must be aimed at Beshear. If the people of Kentucky want to quit being taxed to pay for these court judgments, Kentucky MUST elect a governor who will actually follow the constitution.” Republican Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie responded to the ruling on Monday, congratulating attorney Chris Wiest and TJ Roberts on the win. The Sixth Circuit previously barred the governor from enforcing a prohibition on in-person services, disputing the lower court’s ruling which upheld the ban. “[The] unexplained breadth of the ban on religious services, together with its haven for numerous secular exceptions, cannot co-exist with a society that places religious freedom in a place of honor in the Bill of Rights: the First Amendment,” the court found in May 2020. “Here in Kentucky, there are so many different ways to worship, and all but one church in this commonwealth are engaged in them,” Beshear said after the initial lawsuit was filed, according to WDRB. “You can do it virtually. You can do it in a drive-in service, and in many states they are not allowing those drive-in services like we are. So this work — this opportunity to worship, which is so important, is still there. We just ask people to choose one of the versions that doesn’t spread the coronavirus, and I think that’s what our faith calls us to do.” Beshear did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In fact, California has not had an increase in its Medi-Cal (Medicaid) rate in 20 years. As part of the ongoing legislative campaign, California's ambulance service owners and operators have created a coalition with all the labor unions that represent EMS in the state to campaign for increases. In this episode of EMS One-Stop, both labor and leadership sit down with Rob Lawrence to discuss politics, funding and working as a team. About our guests Melissa Harris - president and CEO of Ambuserve Ambulance, Medic1 Ambulance and Shoreline Ambulance; and board member and treasurer of the California Ambulance Association Shelly Huddleson - national labor representative for the International Association of EMTs and Paramedics Chad Druten - COO Emergency Ambulance Service based in Brea, California; president of the Los Angeles County Ambulance Association, president of the Ambulance Association of Orange County Ryan Walters - president of IAEP Local 370 representing EMTs and paramedics working at Falck in Orange County and Los Angeles Jim Karras - vice president and chief operating officer of Ambuserve Ambulance, Medic1 Ambulance and Shoreline Ambulance; vice president, Los Angeles County Ambulance Association; and secretary of the Ambulance Association of Orange County Top quotes from this episode “EMTs are one missed shift away from poverty. This is the industry I love. I've seen people leave, people that I wish we could hold on to, but they have to provide for their families.” — Ryan Walters “Unlike the In and Outs, the Jack in the Boxes, the Del Tacos who can raise their prices to meet the escalating minimum wage and escalating inflationary pressures that they are feeling, we don't have the ability to do that. Our rates are set for us by the government and by government payers and they are capped and in some cases, they are fixed, so we are beholden to the State of California to help us and give us some relief.” — Jim Karras “If we don't do something soon with our Medi-Cal rates, then our EMS system is going to implode, it's going to implode because our ambulance companies are either going to stop taking these Medi-Cal patients because they can't afford them and so who is going to take care of them or they are going to start shutting their doors. When they shut their doors, our members lose jobs.” — Shelly Huddleson “The patient is the one that's most important here, the medical recipient, they are the ones that stand to lose the most and they are the only reason we exist, they are the only reason any of us have jobs and we can't lose sight of that, so we are not just advocating for our industry, we are advocating for the citizens of California.” — Chad Druten Episode contents 0:30 Rob sets the scene 1:00 Meet the guests 2:05 The campaign to increase reimbursement 3:08 EMTs are one missed shift away from poverty 3:45 Management and labor alliance 6:30 How labor and management can work together on political campaigns 9:00 We share a common humanity 11:00 We as an industry are not good at going hat in hand 13:00 The politicians are astonished at what we pay and that we are losing people to fast-food chains 14:00 Medi-Cal is for the patient to have equal access to healthcare 17:00 This is an economic nightmare 18:30 If you were in an elevator with a politician, what would your pitch be? 21:45 Find your champions – those elected officials that will fight for you 23:00 Acting as a coalition 24:40 Ambulance companies with staffing issues 26:10 Workers deserve a long and dignified career 28:30 The patient is at the center 30:00 A call to action Additional resources on this topic California's Fund First Responders California Ambulance Association International Association of EMTs and Paramedics Rate and review the EMS One-Stop podcast Enjoying the show? Today we're taking about ambulances and the ambulance industry! We know this topic is important because Michael Bay recently released an action movie called… “Ambulance.” This is the director who brings you about 90% of big-budget Hollywood films where car chases happen and lots of shit blows up. And sometimes robots from outer-space. Like a lot of our healthcare system, the ambulance industry has become increasingly privatized, and taken over by for-profit equity firms. This has a dramatic impact on the patients who need emergency medical services (EMS) - often at their most vulnerable moments - as well as the EMS providers who work in the industry, and are increasingly squeezed by their employers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI3CUZXlktQ Show Notes Today's guests are: J. Wesley “Wes” Boyd, MD, PhD is a professor of psychiatry and medical ethics at Baylor College of Medicine.  He is also a Lecturer on Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.  Wes has written about and taught extensively in the humanities, medical ethics, human rights and psychiatry.  Aditya Shekhar studies the epidemiology of various emergency medical conditions, including cardiac arrest and traumatic injury. He has contributed to numerous publications in leading medical journals, and his work has been featured by several medical societies. He also has field experience as an emergency medical services (EMS) provider and teaches EMS in the United States and internationally. Wes and Aditya published an article in Slate: “Ambulance Raises an Important Point About Ambulances; The box office flop is basically a commercial for Falck, a for-profit ambulance company with slow response times." As research for this podcast, Gillian watched the movie Ambulance. (Thank you for your service Gillian.) The movie actually realistically depicts the failure of our healthcare system. Our hero, whose insurance company denies coverage for his wife's life-saving treatment, robs a bank and abducts an EMT, using an ambulance as a getaway vehicle. (What? It could happen.) Promotional material for the movie Ambulance, a 2 hour 16 min infomercial for the ambulance corporation Falck. Aditya shares how his experience in EMS is and is not like the movie. For example, unlike the movie, EMS providers don't typically perform surgery in an ambulance. He has also never been kidnapped by Jake Gyllenhaal. But they do provide care in the moment a patient is at their most vulnerable, helping them get to the most appropriate care. Wes describes his experience working in an outpatient psychiatric clinic, about a mile and a half away from a hospital. He crossed paths with EMS whenever a patient was at risk of self-harm, when he would have the patient transported to the Emergency Room. Many patients begged him not to call the ambulance and let them get themselves to the ER, because previous ambulance trips came with a bill of over $2,000. At one point he even drove the patient to the ER himself to avoid that expense. Ambulance services are increasingly becoming privatized. The trend sped up after the 2008 economic crisis because cities struggled to afford these services. Many of these companies are owned by private equity firms, who saw an opportunity to use existing resources to minimize management, while billing the patient's insurance for high profit.  When a city runs an ambulance service, the goal is to break even, and when they don't, the city absorbs the cost because it's a public service the community needs. When a private equity firm runs an ambulance service, the goal is profit, so they cut services, overwork and underpay their staff, and ultimately provide less safe care. We hear a lot about “surprise billing” in the hospital setting, but surprise billing is also rampant in emergency medical services. Congress recently passed “The No Surprises Act” to address surprise billing,
