Grounded Idealism: The Quiet Power Of Coaching To Nurture The Possible With Kyle DietrichOur guest on this week's podcast is Kyle Dietrich, the founder of Grounded Idealist and co-organizer of the Coaching Collaborative, a powerful initiative mobilizing thousands of credentialed coaches to support tens of thousands of displaced workers. Kyle is also a certified Empowerment Facilitator and Trauma-Informed Leadership Coach. With more than 25 years of experience leading large-scale peacebuilding and humanitarian assistance programs in complex contexts like Haiti, Niger, and Burundi, including his former role as Training and Learning Director in USAID's Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, Kyle brings a wealth of insight into the intersection of global change, trauma, and human potential. In this conversation, Kyle joins host Jayne Warrilow to explore grounded idealism and the quiet power of coaching to nurture possibility in challenging times. He takes us beneath the surface of his impressive professional journey, reflecting with honesty on personal loss, resilience, and the breakdown of long-standing humanitarian institutions in the face of global uncertainty. Together, Jayne and Kyle unpack the deep collective trauma of widespread job displacement, the fraying of social contracts, and the urgent need for inner development as we navigate these liminal times. What emerges is a heartfelt invitation to remember our interdependence, embrace the discomfort of the “in between,” and cultivate fertile ground, within ourselves and our communities, for something new to take root.Whether you're a coach, a leader, or someone seeking meaning in the midst of uncertainty, this episode offers quiet wisdom and inspiration for how we hold space for both grief and growth—and step into our sacred calling for change.Key TakeawaysKyle shares his current life circumstances as a recently displaced worker after a long humanitarian career with raw honesty. His deep reflections on the emotional impact and trauma of the current momentThe importance of sustained contribution and interdependence in a shifting global landscape. The necessity for new stories, leadership, and belonging. How we must discern the difference between reacting and responding to crises; the importance of grounded presenceThe call to our own becoming, to embody kindness, presence, and affirmation for future generations.Episode Resources:
2025 is a year of stripping and rebirth–and in that is the gift of abundance and remembrance. The Earth remembers you, from the microscopic cells and cosmic geometries, to the water in our oceans and patches of sky tessellating through leaves. In our latest episode, special guest Zach Bush, MD discusses the pivotal moments not only in his life, but also in the arc of our shared human history. Zach and Jessica explore the soul, nature, humankind, and the beauty and importance of our planet. If you've been feeling trapped in over-efforting, cut off from purpose, or stuck in the belief that healing comes from external sources, this episode is the wake-up call you've been waiting for. As you have likely noticed in this month's episodes, we have moved from the stars to the soil. We will spend the next several episodes exploring edges and ecotones - spaces rife with the very best type of tension. The tension that inspires growth, expansion and action. Today, I am talking with artist, edge-walker, and dear friend Perri Lynch Howard about her experiences in a variety of ecotonal landscapes.Perri is an artist dedicated to forging new narratives from the front lines of climate change. Working in the context of extreme environments is an essential aspect of Howard's practice, driving her curiosity to seek a deeper sense of place, beyond the dichotomy of near and far. Her artwork resides within the emerging genre of New Polar Aesthetics, expressed through painting, drawing, sculpture and sound. In this episode, Perri shares three of her unique, ecotonal field recordings with us as a way to explore the edges both within and without. We will hear the sounds of Vashon Island, the Great Basin Desert, and Svalbard and throughout we discuss:Non-judgement Listening for the truth of the momentThe relational words we use when discussing the land and ourselvesReciprocal relationship in the time of climate crisisThe first rule of field recording AND meditating (!!)At the end, there is a guided meditation experience of the Vashon Island soundscape as an opportunity for you to explore your own relationship with edges. Thank you to the residencies and agencies that provided the time, space, and resources for Perri to record these incredible landscapes - The Arctic Circle Residency, PLAYA Artist Residency, Vashon Artist Residency, The Puffin Foundation, Artist Trust, and Quiet Parks International. Finally, deep gratitude to Nick McMahan for editing and the sound design of this episode, and to Brianna Nielsen for production support.Learn more about: Perri Lynch Howard: https://www.perrilynchhoward.com/Nick McMahan: https://www.nickcmcmahan.com/Brianna Nielsen: https://www.instagram.com/brianna_podcastpro/Please sign up for my newsletter at merylarnett.substack.com to access these meditations as stand-alone audio files for your daily practice. Do you struggle to live in the present moment? When you suffer with things like anxiety, depression, or even ADHD, it can be hard to regulate your nervous system and just live in the present moment. But presence is where true growth and fulfillment happens. So how do you do it? In this episode of From Survivor to Thriver, we sat down with Adam Hart who overcame his own ADHD symptoms by learning to regulate his nervous system and become more present by rock climbing. Adam knows how challenging it can be and he is here to help us understand how we can begin to push past the discomfort and find our own path to presence. Adam Hart is both a leading expert in nervous system regulation and how to get unstuck as well as a best-selling author whose mission is to help busy parents transform the symptoms of the daily grind into more loving relationships and daily fulfillment. Diagnosed as having ADHD in his teens, Adam suffered with low self-esteem and feelings of guilt and shame as he navigated the complex world of entering adulthood. In his early 20's, the responsibilities and stress from striving to meet societal expectations, led Adam to living with daily anxiety. His racing mind, stuck in fight or flight thoughts, had him living with coping habits focused on escaping life and detaching from connecting to emotions. All this changed when Adam discovered Rock Climbing in his late 20's. Rock climbing allowed Adam to discover the true power of his nervous system regulation and how to utilize “The Moments of Life” to alter how his brain functioned and how his body performed. In today's episode, we cover: The impact ADHD can have on your self-esteem The science behind your own ability to reset your brainWhen Adam reached rock bottom and how he climbed out and learned to embrace the present momentThe power of getting in nature and how it brings you back into the present Why you have to work on the relationship between your brain, nervous system, and heart dailyTools to move your brain out of fight or flight mode How healing your nervous system can lead to deeper connection with othersWe hope you enjoyed our conversation with Adam! In this episode of the SLP Now Podcast, Laura and Marisha discuss the importance of self-reflection in practicing self-care and self-kindness.Self-reflection involves taking a moment to go inward and think about our thoughts, feelings, and actions. By being mindful and reflective, we can better understand our own learning processes and improve our problem-solving abilities, emotional regulation, and self-awareness.While self-reflection has many benefits, it can be challenging to face truths we'd sometimes rather avoid and be objective about our own behavior. It's important to remember that self-reflection is a practice, and we don't have to be perfect. Building in small moments of self-reflection throughout our day, such as through journaling, can be helpful in developing this skill.Ultimately, self-reflection allows us to show up for ourselves and others in a more intentional and compassionate way, leading to greater job satisfaction as an SLP — and — less burnout. In the episode, Marisha and Laura talk about:The benefits of self-reflectionWhat self-reflection looks like in the momentThe power of creating space for yourselfBuilding pockets of reflection into your dayEmbracing self-reflection and growth as a lifelong journeyFull show notes at slpnow.com/151

From Rolling Stone Magazine to the latest instagram feed, celebrity has always meant being seen and hopefully in the coolest way. Today I was able to speak with Monica Schmiede, co-founder of Athelo Health, the first biometric-anchored virtual coach for women with breast and gynecologic cancers. I connected with Monica thanks to a mutual friend. As soon as I did a little digging on her background (it's impressive to say the least) and what Athelo Health is all about, I needed to have her on the show. The digital health field is one that I am just starting to understand. It's not only Fitbits and checking steps on an Apple Watch. I know a bit about how biometric information can support the overall health of an individual, and as Monica points out, make it easier to communicate more efficiently with our physicians. Let me tell you, in the hour I had with Monica, I realized I have only scratched the surface of what's possible. Sometimes it takes someone who has been in all of the different rooms and see other perspectives, those of the doctor, the patients who don't have equitable access, the clinical trials and more, to really connect the dots and unlock a potential I would have never seen coming. Here's what we talk about: The 3 pillars Athelo health is built upon, starting with how harnessing biometric data provides awareness and a starting point for those patients who are diagnosed, or starting their remission journeyWhat brought her and her co-founder togetherThe origin story of Athelo Health and how it has grown She sneaks in so many little nuggets and facts or stats that will knock you off your feet, to her it's everyday info, to me it was wow moment after wow momentThe list goes on…A bit more about Monica:Monica Schmiede the the co-founder and Head of Commercial Strategy at Athelo Health, a health technology company focused on empowering women with breast and gynecologic cancers. Previously, she led business development and strategic partnerships for Clinipace, a mid-sized Contract Research Organization specializing in oncology clinical research where she grew revenue by 30%. She started her career in healthcare at Informa Pharma Intelligence where she built market intelligence portfolios for both innovative biotechnology companies and global pharmaceutical companies. She holds an MBA from the London School of Economics and currently resides in Marin, California. In addition, she enjoys spending her free time in nature and is an avid freediver.Thank you Monica for coming on and sharing your knowledge today! When news broke that Trump would be indicted by the Manhattan District Attorney, Alvin Bragg, there was no shortage of hot takes from political pundits, lawyers, and others who wanted to weigh in on what likely could happen. After the indictment was unsealed and the unprecedented step of charging a former president with a crime became center focus for most major media outlets, there were plenty more hot takes of the validity of the charges and what that could mean. To find out what all of this really means, we thought we would ask the one person who likely has the most experience and expertise on this historical indictment, Diana Florence. Florence is a 25 year veteran of the Manhattan DA office and ran against the current District Attorney, Alvin Bragg in the most recent election for that seat. Having worked under the previous DA, Cy Vance, she has a unique perspective that you most likely won't hear anywhere else and we enjoyed having her on the show. We asked her a wide range of different questions that focused on her unique experience in that office and we addressed many of the criticisms about the case. These include: The types of cases that are usually prosecuted in the Manhattan DA officeWhy the Feds asked for Bragg's office to pause the investigationThe statutes of limitations and why the case was brought at this momentThe significance of the 34 charges, and what is necessary for them to become feloniesLegality of Non-Disclosure AgreementsWhy there wasn't a conspiracy chargeWe addressed some of the public comments from folks who aren't necessarily Trump supporters (eg: John Bolton)The credibility of Michael Cohen, and resting a case based on his testimonyThere are so many other topics that were addressed in this jam packed, but informative, episode. We tried not to leave any stone unturned, and hope you enjoy it!Support the showTo learn more about the show, contact our hosts, or recommend future guests, click on the links below: Website: https://www.faithfulpoliticspodcast.com/ Faithful Host: Josh@faithfulpoliticspodcast.com Political Host: Will@faithfulpoliticspodcast.com Twitter: @FaithfulPolitik Instagram: faithful_politics Facebook: FaithfulPoliticsPodcast LinkedIn: faithfulpolitics

Do you ever wonder, “is this as good as it gets?” Maybe on the outside, life seems good (marriage, kids, etc.), but you still hunger for abundant living–a life filled with purpose and meaning. How do we discover abundant living when we know Christ is our true sense of satisfaction and our source of unconditional love, but we don't feel fulfilled and still feel an ache in our hearts for more? In today's episode, you'll hear from Wendy Pope, a speaker with Proverbs 31 Ministries and author of several books, including Yes, No, and Maybe, which helps Christian women rediscover the path to deep satisfaction in God and in life. Wendy has some powerful insights on seeking God, saying no to our own self-sufficiency, and maybe to some decision-making aspects of controlling our lives to find that ultimate satisfaction in Him.WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:[7:03] Wendy's journey of emptiness as she asked, “Is this as good as it gets?”[14:35] Finding abundant living as we submit ourselves to God [23:49] How chasing after God brings the deep satisfaction we seek[30:26] Cultivating trust with God as we say “yes” to obedience[34:08] Laying down self-sufficiency to discover abundant living[43:05] Partnering with God for freedom in decision makingCONNECT WITH WENDY:WebsiteInstagramBooksFREE WORKSHOP: How to Transform Your Thoughts to Transform Your LifeStruggle with feeling you're never enough?
