On today's episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins breaks down the embarrassing performance for Mike Woodson and Indiana Basketball as the Hoosiers lose to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, 86-70. Indiana started out nicely, but Nebraska hit big shots thanks to Keisei Tominaga going off for 28 points to lead all scorers. We discuss Kel'el Ware returning to action coming off a sickness, and Xavier Johnson returned after missing significant time due to injury. Ware led all Hoosiers in scoring with 20, while Johnson was held scoreless in just 15 minutes of play. Then, Jacob gives his likes and dislikes from the first Big Ten loss of the year for the Hoosiers. Very few likes, one of which included Ware looking sharp after missing a game being sick. Dislikes include lack of production from the guard position for Indiana, lowlighting the play of Trey Galloway and guys off the bench like Gabe Cupps and Anthony Leal. The three-point defense struggled once again, something Coach Woodson has to put more urgency on moving forward. Finally, we look ahead for this Indiana Basketball team and brainstorm ways the Hoosiers can try to learn from this blowout loss. Finding problems that need immediate fixes is crucial, as Big Ten play ramps up even more when the Ohio State Buckeyes come to Bloomington on Saturday night. Locked On Hoosiers - Daily Podcast On Indiana Hoosiers Football & Basketball

On today's episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins gives you his three New Years resolutions for the Indiana Hoosiers and college athletics as a whole. The first resolution, or change, we'd like to see in 2024 is better execution of the offense for Indiana Basketball. Mike Woodson has to do a better job of running plays that pair with the strengths of this team: height. The ball must move around the perimeter more from players like Gabe Cupps and Trey Galloway, and work it inside to Kel'el Ware and Malik Reneau. Then, our second New Years resolution for 2024 is to get more production from the role players and bench players for Indiana Basketball. If the Hoosiers can get more help from those off the bench, like Anthony Walker who has been playing better lately, and Gabe Cupps when he ultimately goes back to the backup point guard role, that will allow the starters to rest and not have as much pressure scoring the basketball. The Hoosiers will need that if they want to make a run in March. Finally, the last resolution is about fixing college athletics. College sports are no where near what they used to be, and the transfer portal and NIL is the reason. Every day, we get closer to professional sports. Jacob would love to see more men and women playing for the love of the game, rather than a paycheck. How can that happen? We discuss all of that and more on today's episode of Locked On Hoosiers! After letting Morehead State almost get the upset on Tuesday, it's time for Mike Woodson's squad to play with some urgency and put together a full 40 minutes of basketball against a team they are supposed to beat. The Hoosiers will have a major height advantage in this matchup against the Lions, which means Kel'el Ware and Malik Reneau need to have big games. That will rely on the offensive gameplan from Head Coach Woodson, and Jacob thinks the ball needs to touch the paint every time down the floor. Can the Hoosiers stop the guard play of UNA? That will be up to Trey Galloway and Gabe Cupps to slow them down and make somebody else beat them. Finally, we break down the latest ESPN Bracketology from Joe Lunardi. What does it mean to win a game that you were outplayed in, and how did this team fight off 30 points from Jordan Lathom of Morehead State? Finally, a breakdown of Indiana Football's newest commit for the 2024 class and Head Coach Curt Cignetti. Tyler Cherry, a 4-star Quarterback from Indiana, committed to the Hoosiers over the Spartans of Michigan State. Jacob believes he could be the QB of the future, and gives this new staff a true test at molding and developing a young stud in the offense. Locked On Hoosiers - Daily Podcast On Indiana Hoosiers Football & Basketball

On today's episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins breaks down the monster road win for Indiana Basketball and Head Coach Mike Woodson over the Michigan Wolverines, 78-75. We discuss the sloppy play in the first half by Malik Reneau and the entire team with 10 turnovers, and how the Hoosiers rallied in the second half. Reneau led the Hoosiers in scoring, while Kel'el Ware and Mackenzie Mgbako reached double digits as well. Then, we give likes and dislikes from the road win for Indiana. The bench came to play in this game once again for Coach Woodson, and may have kept the Hoosiers in the game during the first half. Gabe Cupps stepped up on the defensive end of the floor, holding the Wolverines top scorer in Dug McDaniel to just 13 points. But, as Trey Galloway continues to struggle shooting the basketball, is it time for the bench players to get more minutes? Finally, a discussion on what this win means right now for this basketball team, and what it means moving forward. For now, the Hoosiers are 2-0 in the Big Ten and 7-1 on the year. How confident is the team feeling as they get set to travel to Atlanta to take on Auburn in the Holiday Hoopsgiving event? On today's episode of Locked On Hoosiers, Jacob Goins ponders the question: who is going to step up and help out Kel'el Ware on the offensive side of the floor? We discuss what Head Coach Mike Woodson and his team will do when big name teams like UCONN and Kansas shut down Ware, and who the Hoosiers can try to rely on for points. Names like Trey Galloway and Mackenzie Mgbako who are in the starting rotation are ones who Jacob thinks need to step it up offensively. Then, we lay out a gameplan on what the Hoosiers can do to generate some offense when it goes cold and create some urgency on that end of the floor. Forcing turnovers and getting stops on defense, transition buckets, and moving the basketball are just a few ways that Indiana can create tempo and finally build some confidence in newcomers like Mgbako and Gabe Cupps. Finally, a look ahead at the schedule for Indiana Basketball as Wright State, UCONN, and Big Ten play looms large for the Hoosiers. This is a chance to teach, train, and get better for young players like Mackenzie Mgbako and Gabe Cupps, and also a chance for older leaders like Xavier Johnson to step up and help the team grow in a game the Hoosiers will be heavily favored in.Then, Jacob breaks down how the half-court offense can improve for Indiana in this game against Army and moving forward this season. Jacob discusses playing with urgency on that end of the floor, which means cutting with purpose and setting impactful screens to help other players like Kel'el Ware and Trey Galloway to get open. How many new looks and rotations could we see on Sunday? Jacob thinks there could be quite a few changes that Mike Woodson tests out. Finally, Indiana Football and Head Coach Tom Allen travel to Illinois this Saturday to take on the Fighting Illini. This will not be a pretty game, but it's a chance for the Indiana defense to get after the quarterback Luke Altmyer for Illinois, who has 10 interceptions on the year. Welcome to the Often Daunted. After a slow start the Hoosiers down the U Indy Greyhounds 74-52, let's talk about it. Takeaways from the game: Credit to the IU Sports Media program and Zion Brown in particular, Gabe Cupps and Anthony Walker provided the intangibles that made the difference in getting this squad rolling, a little selfishness may go a long way in finding a shooting option on this team, Mgbako showed enough for us fans to get really excited for what his season may have in store, Kel'el Ware's 14 point performance, Trey Galloway needed to show more but I'm willing to bet he can show he's added dimensions to his game, Showalter Fish of the Game. Indiana news: Congrats to the IU Men's Soccer team, Kaleb Banks should be back for Marion, Indiana Recruiting news, Big Ten News: Some Exhibition results around the conference, Kasai Tominaga injured in first half of the season, Michigan with the surprising (definitely not regulation) win over Marquette, Illinois humbles Hunter Dickinson, Hoosier History Hit: Richard Dorson. The Hoosiers score a big one! Join Mike Goodpaster, Steve Risley and Brian Mohr as they discuss the Hoosiers' newest addition Mackenzie Mgbako! The Hoosiers look like a Top ten team now headed into the 2023-24 season!Mackenzie Mgbako from Roselle Catholic (New Jersey) signed his letter of intent with Indiana on Friday evening. Mgbako initially committed to Duke in October before opening up his recruitment in April and visiting St. John's, Kansas and Indiana before selecting Indiana as his destination. Mgbako considered Louisville but decided against visiting. According to 247 Composite, this 6-foot-8 forward is currently ranked as the No. 8 player in the 2023 class. He became the highest-ranked high school recruit to commit under Mike Woodson, now in his third season in Bloomington.According to RSCI rankings, Indiana has only attracted top-10 recruits since 1998: Eric Gordon, Romeo Langford, Noah Vonleh, Jared Jeffries and Cody Zeller are the only five. Mgbako joins Gabe Cupps and Jakai Newton as three high school players that will join Indiana for the 2023-24 season. Indiana also recently welcomed three transfers - Kel'el Ware from Oregon, Anthony Walker from Miami and Payton Sparks from Ball State - as part of its 2023-24 roster.Do the Hoosiers now have a roster that can bring Indiana back to national relevance? Only time will tell, but Cosck Woodson is doing a great job of stacking the Hoosiers roster with talented and athletic players.Indiana looks on paper at least as a top ten contender to win a National Championship in the upcoming season; the Hoosier's last National Championship was in 1987, and the teams last Final Four appearance was in 2002 so Coach Woodson has his work cut out for him. Still, Friday was a huge step in the right direction!Make sure to tune in to the Indiana Basketball Weekly show with Steve Risley all year long for the latest Hoosier content. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/michael-a-goodpaster/support

The Indiana Hoosiers basketball team has already seen a fair amount of roster shakeup early in the offseason that has already left them with an open scholarship spot with plenty of decisions still to be made in the coming days and weeks. You'll want a palate cleanser after that one. Finally, our dessert ends things on a delightful note, discussing the women's basketball team, now ranked the highest in the program history at #4 after thrashing that wretched school from down south.Grab your fork, loosen your belt and get ready for some delicious!See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Well, it was not the Buckeyes best week when it comes to the hardwood. Sunday afternoon they suffered a seventeen point loss at the hands of the ginormous Liam Robbins and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. On top of that Ohio State was set to have a get right game against the Penn State Nittany Lions but then a COVID-19 outbreak in Happy Valley shut that game down. Finally, the Buckeyes lost senior guard C.J. Walker to a hand injury that has him out indefinitely.Regardless, Matt and Mick gave their break down of the Minnesota loss, the impact of Walker's injury, and how Liam Robbins outburst could be a sign of what is to come in Big Ten play. Ohio State does travel to Rutgers on Saturday to fast the Scarlet Knights so Matt and Mick also previewed that game.To finish up the episode Mick broke down how the Buckeyes can solve their big man problems in the 2021 class or even the transfer portal. He recapped recent recruiting trips to see 2023 point guards Lawrent Rice and Gabe Cupps. And with the Wrestling Bucks set to take the mats this both they also previewed what is to come for with wrestle offs taking place on Saturday. It was a short yet somber episode of Anything but Football hopefully next week will be better for the Buckeyes.Anything but Football is hosted by Buckeye Scoop insiders Matt Goldman and Mick Walker. It is also a part of the Buckeye Scoop radio network.
