Dustin Seale and Ed Manfre are both partners at Heidrick & Struggles and the authors of 'Lead Through Anything.' Dustin has focused his career on helping leaders get better results through culture and leadership regardless of the challenges they may be facing. Ed shares the same passion and explains how his career was 'accidental' after starting professional life in a family owned boutique and how some very specific events catapulted him towards wanting to understand the dynamics of leadership. The impact of both good and bad leaders is widespread as they create a lived experience for those around them. The essence of 'Lead Through Anything' is one of hope and application for leaders to successfully navigate the chaos. The average leader is 10 years into their career before they are offered any form of leadership training. Why? This book is a springboard for any leader. The book focuses on three key principles that will make a difference in creating a world better led. Purpose, Vitality & Agility. The magic is when all three are in play at the same time! Purpose: This is about leaders creating the right environment for success and who are ambitious for impact not self. Vitality: At the self level it is to marshall, create and sustain your energy and to connect yourself to others and connect others as a team in order to create something greater than the sum of its parts. Agility: Willingness to never be done and always learn. They explain the analogy of a rocket traveling through space, appearing to travel in a straight line but actually its constantly calibrating itself and course correcting. The same is true for leaders, always adjusting and adapting to the circumstances. Dustin explains 'outside - in' and the leaders ability to think like a scientist to analyse and adjust to data. The 'inside - out' is all about vulnerability. Ed also explains in this episode the importance and role of simplicity. The book uniquely explains how we can understand our 'home base', a centre of gravity that we can come back to again and again as individuals and organisations as we explore and experiment how we can unleash the three principles of Purpose, Vitality & Agility to thrive. http://www.leadthroughanything.com/bookhttp://www.leadthroughanything.comWatch & Subscribe:

If you're over a certain age, you're almost guaranteed to be directly related to someone who was in the military at some point. That's what happens when you have multiple drafts across just a few decades. Another thing that happens is a lot of families are left without husbands or fathers, or saddled with lifelong medical bills, or any of the other things that come with war. Narrated by the author, Surrender is an intimate, immersive listening experience, telling stories from Bono's early days in Dublin, to joining a band and playing sold out stadiums around the world with U2, plus his more than 20 years of activism. Throughout a remarkable life, music has always been a constant for Bono and in the audiobook, his distinctive voice is interwoven with a very personal soundtrack adding atmosphere and texture to each and every scene. From moments of classic U2 hits to snippets by The Clash, Patti Smith, Verdi, Johnny Cash and Mozart, Surrender also exclusively features clips of newly recorded re imagined versions of U2 songs including ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday', ‘With Or Without You', ‘One', ‘Beautiful Day' and more, glimpsed for the first time on Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story.
In this conversation with Catherine Manfre, author of the new book Not There Yet: Living Through Egypt, Love and Uncertainty, we discuss how 9/11 shaped Catherine and changed the course of her life; the importance of being an ally against bigotry even in moments when no one else is watching; how to confront prejudice in more productive, persuasive ways; strong women leaders in Egypt who lead their own movement; when the systems that are supposed to be established for justice fail us; how often women need to put their lives and their bodies on the line for what is right (not just in Egypt and the U.S., but in the protests in Iran today); having lived through the revolution in Egypt in 2011, how the events here in the States after the 2020 election leading up to Jan. 6th and beyond really hit hard; how the government in Egypt would use tactics like manipulating the media, finding scapegoats real or imagined, and sparking political violence and how there's an eerie similarity to what some leaders and elected officials have resorted to here in the States; and that if we can't find common ground, it's going to be difficult for us to get through life together as one united country. [Tax Notes Today; 3/11/2019, Article by Eric Yauch] Practitioners Call for 199A Soft Guidance, Safe Harbor Fix Practitioners are welcoming IRS signals that it may reconsider its positions on the passthrough deduction rental safe harbor, saying the safe harbor isn't helpful. [Tax Notes Today; 3/15/2019, Article by Eric Yauch] Court Dismisses Challenge to IRS Levy on Social Security Benefits A U.S. district court dismissed an individual’s challenge to the IRS’s levy on 100 percent of his Social Security benefits to collect his $20 million tax debt, finding that the suit is barred by the Anti-Injunction Act and the individual didn’t show that any exception to the act applies; the court denied as futile his request to amend the complaint. [Edward J. Holland Jr.; No. 2:17-cv-13926, 3/7/2019] Fact Sheet Outlines TCJA Changes for Businesses The IRS has released a fact sheet (FS-2019-3) summarizing tax law changes under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act that affect businesses and provides resources to help business owners track down details specific to their concerns, noting that most of the changes took effect in 2018 and will affect returns filed in 2019. [FS-2019-3, 3/8/2019] Insurance Agents Group Denied Exemption The IRS denied tax-exempt status to a group of insurance agents seeking exemption as a business league because the organization operates to benefit a specific insurance company rather than to improve the business conditions of insurance agents in general. [LTR 201906014; 11/16/2018, rel. 2/8/2019] Retroactive Social Security Benefits Stymie ACA Credit Claim A lump-sum payment of retroactive Social Security benefits must be included in income for purposes of determining eligibility for the Affordable Care Act’s premium tax credit, the Tax Court has held. [Tax Notes Today; 3/12/2019, Article by Kristen Parillo] Election Doesn’t Protect Against Liability for Excess ACA Credits The Tax Court, sustaining an IRS determination, held that an individual’s modified adjusted gross income under section 36B to determine his eligibility for advance premium tax credits under the Affordable Care Act included all the Social Security benefits he received in that year despite a section 86(e) election to exclude a lump sum payment for the prior year. [Levon Johnson; 152 T.C. No. 6, 3/11/2019] Entity-Level Taxes Likely a Safer Bet for SALT Workarounds Entity-level taxes used as state and local tax deduction cap workarounds are likely better able to withstand scrutiny than the creation of charitable funds, according to a practitioner. [Tax Notes Today; 3/13/2019, Article by Andrea Muse] Ninth Circuit Affirms Reduction of Estate's Charitable Deduction The Ninth Circuit affirmed a Tax Court decision that sustained a tax deficiency and accuracy-related penalty against an estate, finding that the Tax Court properly upheld the IRS’s reduction of a charitable deduction from the value of the property at the time of death because post-death events decreased the value of property actually given to the charity. [Victoria E. Dieringer et al.; CA 9, No. 16-72640, 3/12/2019] Power of Attorney, Extension Forms Fail to Update Address With IRS The Tax Court, dismissing a deficiency case for lack of jurisdiction, held that forms a couple sent to the IRS with their new address after they had filed a return with their old address didn’t provide clear and concise notification of a different address. [Damian K. Gregory et ux.; 152 T.C. No. 7, 3/13/2019] Court Won’t Dismiss Former S Corp Shareholder’s Suit for Breach A U.S. district court refused to dismiss a former S corporation shareholder’s suit against the remaining shareholders for breaching an agreement by refusing to agree to a section 1377 election to split the S corporation’s tax year into two years according to the date his interest was terminated, which resulted in his owing additional taxes.
Joe Manfre was one of the most sought-after referees in the country. He refereed the women’s US National team multiple times, 10 Collegiate National Championships, countless college games and, of course, the Baltimore Blast. It all started growing up in Baltimore, where Joe was one of the fiercest goalkeepers competing at Patterson High School and University of Baltimore. With 47 years of refereeing at all levels, Joe shares a perspective on the game unlike any I have ever heard before.
Fjallað um Manfreð Vilhjálmsson arkitekt öðru sinni, hann hefur hannað ýmislegt annað en hús, bæði stór og smá, svo sem innréttingar, stóla, leikföng og fl. Þekktar byggingar Manfreðs eru margar, má þar nefna Skálholtsskóla og Kröflu. Einnig hefur hann hannað þekkt einbýlishús í Mávanesi og Blikanesi í Garðabæ, en sjálfur býr hann í tilraunahúsi eftir sjálfan sig á Álftanesi. Manfreð hannaði einnig tengibyggingu milli húsa í safni Ásmundar Sveinssonar sem þykir afar vel heppnuð, og hann hannaði einnig ferðamannaðastöðu á tjaldstæðinu í Laugarda.
