Recorded: AUG 26th 2024 Episode #292 is here, boys! Oh, and boy, do we have a White Whale of a guest for you! The one and only Peyton Manning invited us to his Knoxville bar, Saloon 16, to interview him. Will and Taylor sat down with "The Sheriff" in what can only be described as a "Peyton Manning Museum" of a room. Everywhere you looked on the walls, there was a legendary moment in the 2x Super Bowl Champion's career. Peyton opened up to The Boys about growing up as a Manning and the advice and wisdom his father, Archie, instilled in him. He spoke about his decision-making process when selecting Tennessee over Ole Miss, how he views leadership through the eyes of his father and other mentors, and what life looks like after retiring from the game. Peyton Manning's production company, Omaha Productions, is making huge moves in the sports digital/broadcast media industry. His show, "The Manning Cast," which he hosts with his brother Eli, is a fan favorite every Monday, and he is looking to build on their newfound success. Will and Taylor also keep it light for The Boys and dig into Peyton's rumored past of epic team pranks that he has pulled throughout the years. Eli is even brought up as potentially rivaling Peyton as the true "King of Pranks" in the Manning household. Knoxville, Denver, and Indy are all better places because Peyton Manning graced them with his incredible on-field talent and unmatched humility off the field. Looking back at his incredible stat sheet and long list of awards and trophies, it's easy to see why Peyton is often referred to as the "GOAT" by many around the world. In this week's intro, Will and Taylor break down their trip to A&M to watch the Fighting Irish take on the Aggies, their meeting with Shane Gillis, Johnny Manziel, and Von Miller, and they recap the CFB Week 1 matchups. Be sure to look out for The Boys' new show, The Locker Room. Their weekly gambling show will be covering CFB and the NFL this year, making sure no Tier 1's are left out of the mix. We are also offering a call-in segment for YOU to give The Boys your picks (stay tuned for more info from Will and Taylor). Delanie "The Mule" Walker will be joining the helm, with even a rotating guest picker each week. So, do me just the smallest favor... turn up those dials, smash that subscribe button, and LOCK IN!! The Boys love bringing content your way every week, especially when we have guests like these. Be sure to tell a friend if you enjoyed this episode and send a link their way. There's always room for 1 or 2 more on the bus. BIG HUGS... (and then lean in... a lil closer... come on...) tiny kisses... and have one heck of a Tuesday, boys! Quarterback, the new eight-episode docuseries from NFL Films and Omaha Productions, follows three of the biggest quarterbacks in the game throughout the 2022 season, giving an unprecedented look at what it takes for the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes, the Minnesota Vikings' Kirk Cousins and the Atlanta Falcons' Marcus Mariota to succeed when all eyes are on them. “Look — we've seen quarterbacks mic'd up for a game. We've certainly seen training camp. But we've never followed a quarterback throughout the entire season to see what he does Sunday night after a big win, after a brutal loss on a last-second field goal — what they do on Mondays and Tuesdays on their off days,” Hall of Fame quarterback and Quarterback executive producer Peyton Manning told Netflix. “Are they hanging out? Are they playing golf? Are they in the weight room and watching film and grinding for that next game? Which is the answer, by the way, not to give it away. There is no golf in the season.” https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/quarterback-nfl-docuseries-news

Manning is an executive producer on the series for his company Omaha Productions. Manning describes the process of getting Mahomes, Cousins, and Mariota onboard, gives his take on the unique challenges that being a quarterback requires, and shares a few of his favorite moments from the series.  He also stresses the importance of a healthy work-life balance, reflects on the passion and dedication that drove his own 18-season career, and shares why the ability to ask questions is an essential skill for any quarterback.

For the first time ever, the NFL allowed quarterbacks to be mic'd up for every single game of a season. The series features behind-the-scenes of the biggest moments of the season, as Mahomes set an NFL record for total offense on his way to winning the league and Super Bowl MVP awards; Cousins engineered the greatest comeback in NFL history and led the Minnesota Vikings to an NFC North Division title; and Mariota took over as the starting quarterback with the Atlanta Falcons. Quarterback is produced by NFL Films, Omaha Productions and 2PM Productions. His agent said Garrett has remained alert and responsive while getting medical attention. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it responded to a rollover crash around 3 p.m. Troopers found a gray Porsche 911 Turbo S on the right side of the road with rollover damage. The highway patrol said Garrett and a unidentified female passenger were both transported to a hospital. The crash is still under investigation. Garrett was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. NFL – Bucs relocating to Miami area due to potential impact of Ian The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will relocate football operations to the Miami area in preparation for next weekend’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the potential impact of Hurricane Ian on Florida’s Gulf Coast. The Buccaneers announced Monday night that the team will leave Tampa on Tuesday and relocate in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Buccaneers are expected to practice at the Miami Dolphins’ training complex in Miami Gardens, Florida, starting on Wednesday and continue through this week’s preparations, if necessary. Government officials also confirmed Canada is dropping the vaccine requirement for people entering the country at the end of the month. Canada, like the United States, requires foreign nationals to be vaccinated when entering the country. No change in the mandate is expected in the U.S. in the near term. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government has agreed to let a cabinet order enforcing mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements at the border expire Sept. 30. Transport Canada is also removing travel requirements and as of October 1 people won’t have to wear masks on trains and planes. The 6-foot-6 guard validated Detroit’s decision to draft him No. 1 overall last year. He averaged 17.4 points to lead all rookies, ranked second among first-year players with 5.6 assists a game and grabbed 5.5 rebounds after overcoming an ankle injury that slowed the start of his career. He and the rest of the Pistons are back for camp, eager to improve on last year’s finish. NBA – Bulls set sights higher, look to build on run to playoffs The Chicago Bulls have their sights set higher after making the playoffs for the first time since 2017. They led the Eastern Conference for a big portion of the season with DeMar DeRozan playing at an MVP level. The Bulls were knocked out in the first round by Milwaukee. Chicago returns with its core group of players intact. The Bulls will be without point guard Lonzo Ball for at least 4-6 weeks after left knee surgery. NBA – Turner heads into another season with Pacers, trade talk Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner has grown accustomed to the trade talk. He saw two-time All-Star Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert dealt away in February. He saw guard Malcolm Brogdon sent to Boston over the summer. So it’s no surprise to Turner that he’s at the center of trade rumors yet again as the longest-tenured Pacers player enters the final season of his contract. But Turner doesn’t seem to mind. For now, the 26-year-old still suits up for the team that drafted him and as long he stays in town, Turner intends to play winning basketball. NCAAFB – Texas Tech fined for field storming when Texas player shoved Texas Tech was fined $50,000 and reprimanded by the Big 12 Conference because fans stormed the field following an overtime victory against rival Texas. A video of the celebration shows one of those fans shoving a Longhorns player. Texas Tech posted on social media a still shot from the video asking for help in identifying that fan. NCAAFB – Ga Tech fires Geoff Collins in 4th season with 10-28 mark Geoff Collins is out as Georgia Tech’s football coach. Collins was fired in the midst of his fourth season after failing to make headway with a brash plan to turn the Yellow Jackets into a national powerhouse through branding and promoting Atlanta’s big-city culture. Collins was dumped two days after a 27-10 loss to Central Florida left him with a record of 10-28. Collins finished his tenure with a winning percentage of just .263 — the lowest of 13 full-time coaches in the school’s history. Georgia Tech also fired athletic director Todd Stansbury. NASCAR – AP Exclusive: Jimmie Johnson to retire from full-time racing Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson tells The Associated Press that he is retiring from full-time racing and will turn his focus toward spending time with family. He figures his future schedule will include no more than 10 bucket-list events. The 47-year-old says he has no idea what his racing schedule will look like, or whether he’ll run any IndyCar races next season. He wants to do the 24 Hours of Le Mans with NASCAR and Hendrick Motorsports, and has interest in “The Double” of the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day. Ezekiel Elliott scored on a 1-yard run to ignite a comeback from a seven-point deficit and Brett Maher kicked three field goals as the Cowboys beat the Giants for the 10th time in 11 games. Cooper Rush threw for 210 yards and a 1-yard TD in winning his second straight start. Saquon Barkley scored on a 36-yard touchdown run and Graham Gano added three field goals for the Giants. NFL – NFL ends Pro Bowl; skills competitions, flag game instead The NFL is replacing the Pro Bowl with weeklong skills competitions and a flag football game. The new event will be renamed “The Pro Bowl Games” and will feature AFC and NFC players showcasing their football and non-football skills in challenges over several days. The 2023 Games will be held in Las Vegas, and the flag football game at Allegiant Stadium is Sunday, Feb. 5. Peyton Manning and his Omaha Productions company will help shape programming and promote the event’s content throughout the week. Manning, a 14-time Pro Bowl pick during his Hall of Fame career, will provide his perspective, and will also be a part of the coaching staff for flag game. NFL – Browns’ Garrett injured in one-car accident, status unknown Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett remains under hospital care after being involved in a one-car accident following practice. The team says Garrett did not suffer life-threatening injuries but provided no further details on his condition. MLB – Major League Baseball Last Night Tigers, Cubs, and White Sox were off Tonight Kansas City (Greinke 4-9) at Detroit (Wentz 2-2), 6:40 p.m.                 WSJM/WCSY 6:20 Chicago White Sox (Lynn 7-6) at Minnesota (Ober 1-3), 7:40 p.m. Philadelphia (Wheeler 11-7) at Chicago Cubs (Stroman 4-7), 7:40 p.m. Covid/Sports – Canada won’t require masks on planes, drops vaccine mandate The Canadian government will no longer require people to wear masks on planes. NHL – National Hockey League – Preseason Tonight Detroit Red Wings at Pittsburgh Penguins, 7:00 p.m. St. Louis Blues at Chicago Blackhawks, 8:30 p.m. NBA – Pistons guard Cade Cunningham bulked up for 2nd NBA season Cade Cunningham packed on about 10 pounds of muscle in his first NBA offseason, hoping the added weight will help him lift his game and the Detroit Pistons to another level. Texas senior edge rusher Ovie Oghoufo was shoved from behind by one fan running onto the field Saturday after the Red Raiders won 37-34. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian says Oghoufo showed great poise and composure in what could have turned into an ugly situation. But he also wants to travel with his family and perhaps spend a year living abroad. Texas senior edge rusher Ovie Oghoufo was shoved from behind by one fan running onto the field Saturday after the Red Raiders won 37-34. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian says Oghoufo showed great poise and composure in what could have turned into an ugly situation. But he also wants to travel with his family and perhaps spend a year living abroad.
