After using it for a couple of weeks in his basement home theater (replacing an older 82" Samsung and supplementing a projector setup), he shares highly positive impressions. Key Highlights: Size and Installation: The 98" screen is enormous and immersive. Delivery and installation (included from Best Buy) went smoothly, though modifications to basement stairs were needed to fit the massive box. Picture Quality: Exceptional deep blacks (best non-OLED he's seen, rivaling his old Panasonic plasma), vibrant colors, and strong contrast. Upscaling of lower-resolution content (720p/1080p from cable, Blu-ray, streaming) is excellent. 4K sources, including Ultra HD Blu-ray and YouTube, look stunning with minimal motion blur. Performance Across Sources: Built-in Google TV streaming: Clear and smooth. Roku Premier: Deep blacks and popping colors. Standout: Apple TV 4K shines brightest, leveraging Dolby Vision for an incredibly vivid, "popping" image—far superior to non-Dolby Vision devices on his previous Samsung. Gaming and Features: 144Hz refresh rate delivers outstanding performance with low motion lag. Fun feature: Displays four simultaneous 48" screens for NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV. Observations: Large size exposes weaknesses in poor cable signals (fixed by rerouting). He notes TCL (and Hisense) are seriously challenging premium brands (Samsung, LG, Sony) with high-end specs at budget prices, earning praise from reviewers like RTINGS.com. Jon historically preferred established brands for reliability but now sees TCL/Hisense as the new value leaders, similar to how Samsung/LG rose decades ago. He recommends checking out the latest high-end TCL models, especially for large sizes where premium brands were too expensive for him. He's also considering switching from Verizon Fios to a streaming TV service to cut costs. Overall, Jon is thrilled with the TV's performance and value, calling it a "force to be reckoned with."

I think Mint is the Problem since it switched to Ubuntu. I have since had a lot of performance issues with it. Also in the Top Linux List it's going downhill. I wouldn't now recommend Mint anymore for beginners and low-spec'd PCs. Since I switched my BeeLink to Fedora Linux (KDE Plasma version) it's very smooth-running again. Also Fedora is pretty easy to operate. Bazzite and Nobara are also beginner-friendly with low spec requirements. I'm enjoying TA, thank you :) CachyOS Ujjwal Sehgal on Retroid Pocket Classic I bought this thinking I'd use it purely for retro gaming but it's starting to become a favourite overall retro gadget. Beautiful OLED touchscreen. Runs Android 14. Google Play store present. Snapdragon G1 Gen 2. 128GB of storage. microSD slot. Icing on the cake is the head phone jack. I find myself using it to listen to music when I'm away from my phone. The squareish screen is great for watching old 4:3 TV content. It kind of feels like what GameBoy could have been if it were released today! I remember using my original PSP in the same way when I was younger. Feels like a nostalgic digital detox device - as the screen aspect ratio is awful for email, WhatsApp or any social media apps! In today's Daily Fix:Xbox did it again, and by "did it" we mean a Game Pass price hike. And by "again," we mean this is the second time in just over a year that they raised subscription prices. So far, only the Ultimate tier is getting a price increase, from $19.99 to $29.99 — an jump of 50%. In the U.K., the increase is about 53%. The lower tiers aren't changing in price, but are getting re-branded as Essential (replacing Core), and Premium (replacing Standard). There's also some extra perks coming to subscribers, but already the response from gamers has not been great. And in The Witcher news, creator Andrej Sapkowski regrets a single line that he wrote in the early days of the books, that now has become a big deal in the video games.
