#2,659 - More than 25 days, Pentagon still has no answers about origins of mysterious NJ drones

More than three weeks after dozens of mysterious drones began popping up in the New Jersey night sky, the public has still been offered no clear insight on what the phenomenon could be. Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., suggested the swarms of unmanned aerial vehicles could be from an Iranian "mothership." The Pentagon shot down his idea. "There is no Iranian ship off the coast of the United States, and there's no so-called mothership launching drones towards the United States," said Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh. She added there is "no evidence" to suggest the drones are "the work of a foreign adversary." "We aren't being told the truth," Van Drew responded Thursday on Fox News. "They are dealing with the American public like we're stupid." While the Pentagon maintains that the drones are not foreign, the FBI has admitted it is "concerned" about how little the agency knows about them. Asked if Americans are "at risk," Robert Wheeler, FBI assistant director of the Critical Incident Response Group, told Congress on Tuesday: "There is nothing that is known that would lead me to say that, but we just don't know. And that's the concerning part." Asked on Thursday if they'd learned anything since then, the FBI suggested to Fox News Digital the phenomenon might not actually be drones.

This is a must-watch for anyone in the nonprofit world looking to refine their messaging and build stronger relationships with their supporters. Tune in on this candid discussion on how to stay mission-focused, engage your audience, and share a story that's truly worth telling. We dive deep into the importance of storytelling for nonprofits, featuring the wisdom of Robert Wheeler, CEO of Mission Clarity, and co-hosts, Wendy F. Adams, CFRE, cofounder of Cultivate for Good, and Julia Patrick--revolving around one central question: Is your nonprofit's story worth telling?Watch on video!Robert brings his years of experience to the table, focusing on the importance of clarifying a nonprofit's mission, particularly in times of crisis. In a world where nonprofits are constantly called forward during moments of upheaval—be it natural disasters or economic shifts—the ability to tell a compelling and clear story is essential.Wendy  adds her expertise, outlining how many organizations struggle to define and stay true to their mission. As she puts it, “If you don't know what your mission is, there's no way to stay on it.” This is a common pitfall for many nonprofits that get caught in what she refers to as the "drift," losing sight of the very essence of why they exist. The trio explore how to strike the delicate balance between authenticity and vulnerability without slipping into victimhood. Robert underscores this balance, saying: “When you portray yourself as vulnerable without being a victim, you breed collaboration. But when you drift into victimhood, you breed competition.” This powerful statement reinforces the need for nonprofits to tell their story in a way that invites others to join their mission, rather than simply seeking sympathy. You'll walk away with a desire and new method to sharpen your nonprofit's story! Find us Live daily on YouTube!Find us Live daily on LinkedIn!Find us Live daily on X: @Nonprofit_ShowOur national co-hosts and amazing guests discuss management, money and missions of nonprofits! 12:30pm ET 11:30am CT 10:30am MT 9:30am PTSend us your ideas for Show Guests or Topics: HelpDesk@AmericanNonprofitAcademy.comVisit us on the web:The Nonprofit Show

[SEGMENT 2-1] James Earl Jones died   The Great White Hope Field of Dreams, The Simpsons, Star Wars, The Hunt for Red October…much more    [SEGMENT 2-2] Your impact   Media baffled after ABC 3-on-1 presidential debate fails to push voters to Kamala https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/hillary-clinton-s-post-debate-polls-serve-as-warning-sign-for-kamala-harris In 2016, CNN polling showed that Clinton came out on top in all three debates against Trump, by almost an identical margin as Harris in the first debate. Sixty-two percent of respondents thought Clinton won the first debate, while 27 percent chose Trump. Additionally, 41 percent of the poll's respondents identified themselves as Democrats, while only 26 percent were Republicans and the rest were independents, so it is unsurprising that Harris did well.   The Left media is paid to get you to react. Because they HATE when you ACT. When you think for yourself, you upset their algorithm. Do you realize the impact that you have on the public. That one voice you think is small, can be so big. Particularly when it's added to others. I ask you this question: Have I made you stronger in your beliefs?   Trump attended a 9-11 memorial event in NYC with Biden, Harris, Schumer, and Bloomberg among others and the crowd yelled, “We need you. You won!”   https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2024/09/11/wait-a-second-trump-may-have-helped-himself-in-the-debate-n4932437 I don't think it helps to just say what people want to hear. The truth matters. And the truth is that it was not a great debate for Donald Trump on Tuesday night. I suspect he did little to no debate prep in advance, and every time Kamala baited him, he took the bait. It goes without saying that Kamala Harris lied her way through the debate, but the moderators didn't fact-check her once, yet Trump was "fact-checked" between five and seven times — and the fact-checks weren't always accurate. Perhaps because of what I do for a living, I'm extra critical of Donald Trump's performance. I've been pointing out for days now what Trump needed to do in the debate, and seeing him miss opportunity after opportunity was beyond frustrating. But according to a report from Reuters, undecided voters largely shifted to him after the debate.  "Kamala Harris was widely seen as dominating Tuesday's presidential debate against Republican former president Donald Trump, but a group of undecided voters remained unconvinced that the Democratic vice president was the better candidate," the outlet reported. Reuters interviewed ten undecided voters before and after a debate. Six of them shifted toward supporting Trump, three leaned toward Harris, and one remained uncertain. That's a rather solid outcome for Trump. "Although the sample size was small, the responses suggested Harris might need to provide more detailed policy proposals to win over voters who have yet to make up their minds," wrote Reuters. It gets worse for Kamala. Five said they found Harris vague during the more than 90-minute debate on how she would improve the U.S. economy and deal with the high cost of living, a top concern for voters. The encounter was particularly important for Harris, with a weekend New York Times/Siena College opinion poll showing that more than a quarter of likely voters feel they do not know enough about her, in contrast to the well-known Trump. The Trump converts said they trusted him more on the economy, even though all said they did not like him as a person. They said their personal financial situation had been better when he was president between 2017-2021. Some singled out his proposal to tax foreign imports, although economists say that is likely to raise prices. Four of those six also said Harris did not convince them she would pursue different economic policies than Democratic President Joe Biden, a Democrat they largely blame for the high cost of living. "I still don't know what she is for," said Mark Kadish, 61, an entrepreneur in Florida. "There was no real meat and bones for her plans." Four of the voters are women and six are men; eight are white and two are Black. All have voted for both Democratic and Republican candidates in the past. [...] Robert Wheeler, 48, a security firm executive in Nevada, was leaning toward Harris before the debate. He now says if the election were held tomorrow he would vote for Trump, largely because he thought Harris didn't provide clarity on her policies. "I felt like the whole debate was Kamala Harris telling me why not to vote for Donald Trump instead of why she's the right candidate," Wheeler said. I'm not going to lie; this result shocks me. My impression was that this debate likely wouldn't move the needle all that much, if at all, but if this sample is indicative of a larger trend, Donald Trump actually succeeded in doing what he needed to do. Previous: Five Takeaways From the Trump-Harris Debate Of course, some will point to various polls saying that Kamala won the debate. And that may be true, but winning a debate doesn't necessarily translate into winning over voters. With the exception of Trump's debate with Joe Biden in June, I can't think of a time when the media ever didn't push the narrative that Trump lost a debate. According to them, he lost all of his debates with Hillary Clinton in 2016 and all of his debates with Joe Biden in 2020. Perhaps winning the debate isn't the goal candidates should be striving for. Perhaps the real goal is winning over undecided voters. And if this Reuters survey is any indication, Trump achieved that.      [SEGMENT 2-3] State of America Springfield OH: Haitians Minneapolis MN: Somalis Venezuelan gangs…they say they will take over the country in a few years [X] SB – CNBC revised jobs numbers   Look at this crazy world and ask yourself what would happen with 4 more years of Leftist policies? Bob's story We all have an embarrassing story regarding money Bad things happen. And more often, they happen when emotions dictate our choices. Many years ago, I had lunch with a wealthy friend I had not seen in a long time. I insisted that I treat him to lunch. We had a fabulous meal at a fine dining establishment, and I paid for it with my credit card. To my dismay, the card was declined. When I provided a second card, to my embarrassment and shame, it was also declined. I had no other credit cards, and my friend ended up footing the whole bill. I couldn't let that happen, so wrote a check to reimburse him for the cost. But guess what. My check bounced. Humiliating! I know the shame of not having money at the right time, not being able to pay my bills on time, have food in the fridge, or enjoy a positive flow in my bank account. I have felt my stomach churn, my blood pressure rise, and the panicked feeling of humiliation, shame, and personal disgust at my inability to handle money. It happened because I needed to apply sound financial concepts to my life. We all deal with financial issues and choices every day. Most of what we learned about money came from our family. How they thought and reacted to money choices shaped our thinking today. But, have you ever stopped to consider that maybe they didn't know what they were doing? Maybe you set unrealistic goals based on others' ideas and mandates. If you are overwhelmed with credit card debt, can't seem to save money, and feel hopeless and afraid just thinking about money-it is time for a change. Let's conquer money shame and create a positive plan for long-term success. You are not a failure. You are not unworthy. And you are not alone! Through The Money Nerve's concept of proactive intentions followed by thoughtful actions, you can build a life of abundance and walk toward the future with confidence and clarity. No. 70 — He built a career path at the age of eight to become a U.S. Air Force combat pilot and safe-keeper of U.S. nuclear weapons / Maj Gen Robert Wheeler, USAF (ret), CEO, Strategic Consulting Unlimited.  When Robert Wheeler was just 8 years old, his mother took him to the Chicago Air Show. It changed his life. From that moment on, Wheeler became obsessed with an unwavering goal: To become a U.S. fighter pilot.  Wheeler more than fulfilled his dream. During his 32-year career in the U.S. Air Force, he served as a combat pilot in the B-52 and B-2, earning more than 5,000 flight hours and seven operational commands, including Wing Commands in the two largest bomber wings in the Air Force.  Wheeler also served as the Deputy Director for Nuclear Operations, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. As such, he served as the principal adviser to the commander on issues pertaining to strategic deterrence and nuclear operations. He served as the command's principal flag officer responsible for management and oversight of the nuclear enterprise. He retired in March 2016. Major General Wheeler's decorated career in the military culminated in his role as DOD Deputy Chief Information Officer for Information Infrastructure and Command, Control, Communications/Computers (C4), at the Office of the Secretary of Defense at the Pentagon.  In these critical roles, Wheeler obtained a wealth of knowledge about the ways of Vladimir Putin and has some key insights into the trajectory of the Russian President's invasion of Ukraine and Ukraine's surge of wins in the ground game in recent weeks. And he offers sobering insights into Putin's threats to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine if pushed too far against the wall.  Thanks for Listening.

In any sufficiently large group of people, you're going to have some undesirables. Whether it's a church congregation or a political party or a sports team fan base, if you look hard enough you'll find some people who just aren't very good people. But what happens when a certain type of behavior becomes the defining characteristic of a group of people? Robert Wheeler as a representative of the very Trumpy Bastiat Caucus faction of North Dakota Republicans, ran for chairman of the NDGOP last year. This week he was involved in what law enforcement alleges was a felony DUI accident, severely injuring his wife. He is also facing charges for disorderly conduct and preventing arrest because officers say he physically resisted them when they tried to arrest him. If these charges are upheld - Mr. Wheeler certainly has a right to his day in court - they're just the latest examples of problematic behavior from people in the Bastiat Caucus movement. Sen. Jason Heitkamp showed up to the special session of the state legislature in a truck with the words "f*** Joe Biden* on them. Prior to that, he was fond of calling for former President Barack Obama to be lynched. Former Rep. Luke Simons was expelled from last year's regular session over accusations of sexual harassment. His local party district chairman, who has since been ousted from that position, decried the expulsion as an "atrocity." Rep. Jeff Hoverson insulted his own majority leader during the special session, and prior to that was barred from a flight after getting into an altercation with a security agent. Rep. Jeff Magrum, who after redistricting will be seeking the District 8 Senate seat in the current election cycle, got so angry with a fellow lawmaker at a public meeting that law enforcement had to intervene and tell him to settle down. I could go on with more examples, but I think you get the point. It's a common political tactic to try and discredit a group of people by focusing on the behavior of a few fringe elements of that group. But how about when a certain type of unacceptable behavior becomes de rigueur for the group? On this episode of Plain Talk, Chad Oban and I talk about how the North Dakota Republican Party is dealing with that very problem, where a not-small faction of its membership regularly participates in behavior that's simply unaccetable. Also on this episode, Dr. Jeremy Jackson, a professor of economics at North Dakota State University, talks about school choice policies.

Now is the perfect opportunity to get your house in order, now is the time. Robert Wheeler lists out the 9 food items that are becoming harder to find in the U.S. I don't know a single person who hasn't felt tested to their limits this year. That can make it tough to look to the future with a sense of hope. Take heart, my fellow wrongthinker, George F. Smith makes a solid case against pessimism. Each of us should aspire to hone our critical thinking skills. Being capable of thinking clearly and independently during a time of crisis is among the highest duties of citizenship. To this end, Paul Rosenberg is doing an ongoing primer in recognizing and avoiding common fallacies. This week he explains the "either-or" fallacy and how to avoid it. You don't have to be an economist to appreciate the majesty of the free market when it comes to solving problems. Per Bylund has a great essay on why there's no such thing as a coercive monopoly in a free market. No matter how tyrannical the measures to combat Covid-19 become, there are those who will push for more. Phillip W. Magness has put together a solid critique of the sketchy claims of those calling for a mask mandate. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loving-liberty/support

Before we shut it all down again, let's take a look at the 10 worst Covid data failures to date to see whether their credibility holds up. Do lockdowns create serfs? Jeffrey A. Robert Wheeler lists out the 9 food items that are becoming harder to find in the U.S. If you've seen the 60 minutes interview that the president walked out on, you got to see Leslie Stahl at her shrillest as she concluded that Trump doesn't have a "plan" to micromanage the medical sector. The nervousness you may be feeling about the upcoming election may be well justified. Robert Wheeler has a fascinating report about a political group that "war-gamed" the election to explore possible outcomes. Are they actually priming the pump for a transition to what they call "A new America"? Just as the time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the time to teach the principles of liberty and free markets is now. Kerry McDonald makes a solid case for teaching young people the promise of free market capitalism. With all the back and forth over the word "democracy" today, it might be a good idea to explore why America's founders didn't want to create a democracy. Gary M. Galles explores the notion that democracy and liberty are somehow complementary. The idea of a Universal Basic Income (UBI) has been making the rounds for a while. Christian Britschgi reports that San Francisco is about to start paying artists $1,000 a month to support the art community. While most folks wouldn't mind collecting a check without having to actually earn it, there are some serious problems with this. At the risk of feeding anyone's fears, the time to get squared away in case of unrest or another Covid lockdown is right this moment. Dr. Joseph Mercola has a few suggestions of what you might want to stock up on. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loving-liberty/support

It's well established that the best thing smokers can do for their health is to quit. Smoking contributes to many of the underlying conditions that undermine recovery from coronavirus and it is pretty clear that a coronavirus patient who smokes will likely have a worse outcome than one who doesn't. The FDA in the US recently went so far as to suggest smoking might increase the risk of contracting the virus at all. Nevertheless, existing data coming from various studies of patients around the world appear to show smaller numbers of smokers amongst the hospitalized cases than might be expected from local smoking populations. There are fewer smokers than there should be in the data. But why? As the University of Edinburgh and CRUK's Prof Linda Bauld tells Claudia, there may be several simple reasons for this, such as data gathering - that patients' smoking status is going unrecorded or unverified. But a study last week from France goes so far as to suggest that nicotine itself, know to disrupt some of the receptors viruses use to enter cells, may be conferring some kind of a protection. It is just a hypothesis, but while the dangers of smoking tobacco still stand, studies on Covid-19 patients using nicotine patches might be worthwhile. And if you are trying to quit, nicotine replacement therapy might be an even better idea just now than was thought. Inside Health's resident GP Dr Margaret McCartney talks of her concerns for NHS non-urgent treatments being side-lined under the current virus squeeze, and some of her hopes for the future. Professor Pamela Qualter and Dr Margarita Panayioutou describe why lockdown is an important time to do more psychological research into the effects of loneliness and other responses while we have the chance. And in this week's update from Southampton General, where Inside Science's Erika Wright has been speaking to frontline health workers every week, Mr Robert Wheeler, a surgeon and clinical law expert muses on some of the legal aspects of our coronavirus response.
