“I think if people understood more that the way they move might be setting them up for a problem down the line, they'd be much more inclined to see a physical therapist,” Earhart said. We are all built differently. So, it might be useful to examine children early to see what sports or activities might be good for them. Physical therapists can carry out such early exams. Earhart said, “If we screened kids as they were choosing sports and said this sport is probably not the right kind of stress for the way you are put together, it could save a lot pain and problems down the line.” She added about children, “Maybe they don't have the hips for ballet.” Distance runners could also think this way. Some are built to avoid injuries despite running many kilometers while others are not. Exams by physical therapists could help identify future problems. Another area where physical therapists can help is with fall prevention. Falling – and the fear of falling – can be major issues, especially for the aging population. “You want to show people they can get back up if they fall,” Herr said. “And once they know they can do it, it gives them confidence and it can help reduce the fear of falling." 赫尔说:“您想向人们展示,如果他们跌倒,他们可以恢复。” “一旦他们知道自己可以做到,它就会给予他们信心,并可以帮助减少对跌倒的恐惧。” He added, “One of the risks of falling is that people don't do anything, so you don't move and therefore you become more out of shape...” 他补充说:“跌倒的风险之一是人们什么都不做,所以您不动,因此您变得更加不适……” Herr said one example could be to introduce exercises involving “floor to stand” movements. These can help improve flexibility, strength, balance, coordination, and planning. Herr 说,一个例子可能是引入涉及“地板到站立”运动的练习。这些可以帮助提高灵活性、力量、平衡、协调性和计划。 “It sounds simple getting up from a lying position on the floor to stand,” Herr said. “But it's a great exercise for all age groups.” 赫尔说:“听起来很简单,从地板上的一个躺着的位置站起来。” “但是对于所有年龄段来说,这都是一个很好的练习。” Earhart estimated about half of physical therapy patients seek help to deal with issues related to being overweight. “The more weight somebody is carrying the higher the loads are on their joints,” she said. Earhart估计有大约一半的物理疗法患者寻求帮助处理与超重有关的问题。 她说:“有人承受的重量越多,关节的负载就越高。” Herr said he had watched extremely overweight patients successfully lose large amounts of weight. He noted that some of these individuals are motivated for a specific reason. But for others, it is not always that clear and easy. 赫尔说,他已经看到极端超重的患者成功减轻了大量体重。 他指出,其中一些人是出于特定原因而有动力。 但是对于其他人来说,并不总是那么清晰。 “I have seen people change based on a milestone, like having a kid and they really want to be a good parent,” Herr said. “They want to be a fit parent, and the same thing with a grandparent. So that motivates people to engage because of a lifestyle change.” 赫尔说:“我已经看到人们基于一个里程碑,例如生孩子,他们真的想成为一个好父母。” “他们想成为一个合适的父母,而祖父母也是如此。 因此,这激励人们由于生活方式的改变而参与。”

Many of us might only seek out physical therapists if we are recovering from accidental injuries or surgery. However, medical experts say these specialists can also help prevent many health problems if they are seen on a regular basis. One leader in the industry, Sharon Dunn, even calls physical therapists “the best-kept secret in health care.” Dunn is the past president of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). She recently told The Associated Press she thinks people need to look at physical therapists in a new way – as health practitioners who can help identify possible medical issues before they appear. Other health experts share this opinion. They include Roger Herr, the current president of the APTA, and Gammon Earhart of Washington University in St. Louis. They both shared Dunn's prevention message in separate discussions with the AP. Earhart urges people to think about physical therapists just as they do dentists. “Even if you're not having any problem, you go in and have everything checked out.” She noted that such examinations could help find and deal with problems early. For example, an exam could include a patient's health history and current health – things like physical activity, sleep, nutrition, and so on. This could be followed by a look at how a person is moving. Exams might uncover things like postural issues or unusual body movements. Herr is a big supporter of yearly wellness visits. He told the AP he believes physical therapists can be helpful for all kinds of people – the young, athletes, or anyone who wants to be as “independent as possible.” In the United States, you can now visit a physical therapist in all 50 states without needing permission from a doctor or surgeon. However, a yearly exam might not be covered by a person's health insurance. This could prevent some from seeking out care. Earhart estimated such a visit in areas across the U.S. Midwest might cost around $150. Herr suggested a cost of $200-$300 in more costly areas. But both experts said that in the long run, such exams might save money and can add healthy years.

Back in 1937, Earhart's plane vanished into thin air while attempting a historic flight around the world. Fast forward to the present day, and some researchers are pointing their fingers – or should we say claws? – at giant coconut crabs. These enormous crustaceans, found on the remote Pacific island of Nikumaroro, could have scavenged on Earhart's remains, leaving only bones behind. Could these crabs really be the culprits in erasing the trail of this aviation legend? This intriguing theory might finally unlock the secrets that have baffled historians for decades. In this episode of Crimetime Inc., we delve deep into the enduring mystery of Amelia Earhart's disappearance. Amelia Earhart, the pioneering aviator, vanished over the Pacific Ocean in 1937 while attempting a groundbreaking round-the-world flight with her navigator Fred Noonan. We explore the rich trove of information surrounding her final flight, the planned navigation methods, and the ensuing frantic search efforts that have left us with more questions than answers. Our discussion covers Earhart's last known flight on July 2, 1937, from Ley Airfield in New Guinea to Howland Island, and the technological challenges they faced with navigation and communication. We analyze the official U.S. government theory that the duo ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean, as well as the Gardner Island Hypothesis, suggesting they may have landed on Nikumaroro Island. Additionally, we scrutinize the controversial Commander Thompson theory that hints at mishandled search efforts, and even touch on conspiracy theories that Earhart was on a secret U.S. mission and captured by the Japanese, or staged her own disappearance to escape fame. Despite a massive search operation and numerous expeditions over the years, no conclusive evidence has been found. This is a great place to start if you want to hear their backstory, how long they've been in the business, and so on.(Show Notes: REtipster.com/192)In this episode, I wanted to learn more about how they've been pretty successful at getting bank financing for their land deals. Most land investors have a hard time with this because most banks aren't interested in lending on residential vacant lots unless the owner has an immediate plan to develop it.When I caught up with Daniel and Jay at the Land UnConference this past year, they explained a little bit about how they did this, and I thought the whole REtipser audience needed to hear about this. After all, if we can unlock bank financing and the lower rates that come with the package, this would be a very helpful financing alternative for those of us who don't have the funds ourselves, don't want to take out much more expensive hard money loans, and don't want to give away huge amounts of our profit to funders.

It was to be a 12 hour flight which would take her into the next day and a scheduled landing in Hawaii. However she never made it.Radio communication was difficult in that era, but conflicting reports of requests for help and low fuel are consistent throughout the story. When her plane ran into difficulties there was no rescue or recovery vessels in the area, possibly because of poor navigation which had forgotten the latitudinal time difference and therefore made a navigational error.Despite searches – which have continued for decades throughout the sea and nearby Nikumaroro island, no trace of the plane, Earhart or Noonan has ever been found. This has lead to countless theories about what befell the plane.Chris Williamson has been exploring this mystery from every angle for five years in his podcast. On July 2, 1937, Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to become the first female pilot to circumnavigate the world. During her life, she embraced celebrity culture and women's rights, and since her disappearance has become a cultural icon.[2] Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and she set many other records.[3] She was one of the first aviators to promote commercial air travel, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences, and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots.[4]

Tonight, we'll read the opening to “Daughter of the Sky: The Story of Amelia Earhart” written by Paul L. Briand and published in 1960. As the New York Times wrote in their review of the book when it was published “While so many were struggling to keep themselves or their business intact, this fine, calm young woman from 1928 to 1937, experienced a whole series of spectacular successes.” Earhart was an American pioneer of aviation. In 1937 she disappeared over the Pacific Ocean while attempting to become the first female pilot to circumnavigate the world. During her life, she embraced celebrity culture and women's rights, and since her disappearance has become a cultural icon. Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and she set many other records. Recently, in 2024, a company that operates unmanned underwater vehicles found via sonar what appears to be the remains of an airplane on the ocean floor near Howland Island. The object, shaped like her particular plane, was located along the path she had been expected to fly in the Pacific Ocean. More exploration, however, is necessary to confirm whether this is indeed Earhart's missing aircraft. — read by 'V' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus! Amelia Earhart and her co-pilot and navigator Fred Noonan disappeared in the Pacific Ocean on the next to last leg of her round-the-world flight on July 2nd, 1937, and the U.S. Navy, after an exhaustive search of the Pacific which did not include the Marshall islands, released a statement saying that Earhart and Noonan's Electra ran out of gas and crashed into the ocean somewhere near Howland Island, where the Coast Guard ship Itasca reported hearing her say they were running low on gas and could not see the island. Beginning on that day, July 2nd, dozens of radio transmissions from Earhart were heard over the next 6 days by radio receiver stations, military and civilian, hearing Earhart giving her call numbers and asking for rescue- yet no rescue was attempted and the reports were ignored. In this episode we talk to Chris Williamson, Project Director of Chasing Earhart, regarding theories and information provided by the many Earhart experts who have provided research on this subject and others concerning Earhart's disappearance including Dave Horner, author of The Earhart Enigma, who we quote here in part. On July 3, 1975, the Ministry of Justice in Japan responded to an inquiry by Amelia Earhart researcher and investigator Major Joe Gervais. Gervais had sent a letter to the Department of Immigration and Naturalization in Tokyo, operating on the hunch that Earhart had been taken prisoner and held on Saipan during WWII but under an assumed identity. The Ministry of Justice responded, saying the woman in their custody was known to them as Irene Craigmile. This was not a name mentioned by Gervais to the Japanese authorities. So, who is Irene Craigmile? Craigmile and Earhart were acquaintances and pilots who looked similar, but photos show they are two separate people. This begs the question for the “Japanese Capture” theory of Earhart's disappearance: who then went down with the plane that was apparently ditched near Buka Island in Papua New Guinea? Were these two women connected via some secret mission, and is the plane at Buka a version of Earhart's Electra 10-E? These questions and evidence are just a few of the puzzle pieces of the enduring mystery of Earhart's fateful last flight, meticulously stitched together by William “Bill” Pennington Snavely, Jr. in his latest book, Lost in Flight: Amelia Earhart, Giving Cover as a Decoy for a Spy Plane. In 2018, Bill was a guest on our show, where he outlined his research leading to a startling theory of Earhart's plane possibly having crashed near the coast of Matsungan Island near Buka, eventually sinking to a depth of 109 feet. Two main aspects of Bill's investigation that remain novel are that, unlike the other researchers, he calculated his flight tracking starting from the last known location and then traced backward and that his team is the only one with an aircraft to investigate whose characteristics match the Electra. Bill's multiple expeditions to Buka have yielded intriguing evidence supporting his claim, evidence which has previously been kept under wraps due to nondisclosure agreements. However, as his research in the intervening years continued, a new hybrid theory emerged from his discoveries that may solve the disconnect between “Japanese Capture” and the wreckage at Buka. Could it be that a failed reconnaissance mission led to one of the greatest coverups in US history? Bill Snavely is now free to disclose the shocking findings he revealed in his book.
