Take some time this week to remember your original happy hour: Saturday mornings as a kid, waking up at dawn, jumping on the couch with a bowl of chocolate cereal, turning on the ‘toons, tuning out the outside world and working your way into a sugar hangover before noon. This week we scoop up a very special episode of Saturday Morning Cereal with a sweet look at the Catwoman: Hunted (out now on 4k, Blu-ray & digital combo packs). Everyone's favorite felonious feline takes action, adventure and theft to new heights – and with an entrancing anime style – in Catwoman: Hunted, an all-new DC Animated Movie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the jazzy pop film noir feature-length animated film is both visually striking and groundbreaking. Not only is Catwoman: Hunted DCAU's first Catwoman feature but it may also be the first superhero movie to ever present its lead hero Catwoman and co-lead hero Batwoman as LGBTQ+ characters without orientation being the focal point of the story. But the path to LGBTQ+ characters becoming ordinary, we come to learn, is a troublesome straight-line that traces all the way back to the ironic creation of Batwoman herself. Join hosts Grim Shea, Marke and Bleeding Cool's Jimmy “The Gent” as they celebrate this instant classic with three huge guest interviews including writer Greg Weisman (Young Justice, Gargoyles) and the cunning voices of Catwoman and Batwoman themselves, Elizabeth Gillies (Dynasty, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Vacation) and Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, In The Heights).

Henry Small has been a fixture on the Canadian music scene since moving here from Up State New York in the late 1960s. His first success was in a band called Scrubbaloe Caine where along with Paul Dean (Lover Boy) & the rest of Scrubbaloe were signed with RCA records. They built their sound & found their groove while playing an extended gig in Quebec city at a notorious biker owned bar called the Circe Electrique. In this episode, we discuss his experiences going from the relative calm bar scene in Up State New York to the rowdy atmosphere in Canada's bars during the 1970s. Since then Henry has gone on to many greater heights including replacing Ron Tabak as lead singer in the iconic Canadian rock band Prism & being a member of Burton Cummings' backing band. While he lives a quite life with his family in British Columbia these days, he epitomized the phrase "Sex Drugs & Rock & Roll" way back when.

Tonight's show is a response to an opinion piece, “Romanticizing the Drug Musician Mythos,” from Oct 2008 on premiereguitar.com Written by John Bohlinge, a Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist best known for leading the band on NBC's Nashville Star, serving as music director for the CMT Awards and specials on PBS and GAC, and of course for his appearances in PG Rig Rundown, Review Demo, Axes & Artifacts, and What Bohlinger Plays videos. With all due respect to Ian Dury & The Blockheads (who did hit song, “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,) we are actually here to support this article's assertions, and discuss why it is not such a cool thing to over-romanticize the constant-partying, Live Fast Die Young and Leave A Good-Looking Corpse rock & roll stereotyped lifestyle of musicians. This topic is closely related to our very first show, “Musicians and Suicide,” way back in July 2016. Tonight, we will discuss: 1. The original article, “Romanticizing the Drug Musician Mythos” 2. The history of musicians and the hard-partying stereotype. 3. Why this is a toxic trope and should be abandoned   We'll start off the evening with some topic-relevant Classic Rock played by Dr. Mathis, followed by Classic Rock trivia in "The Rock & Roll Shrink Recalls," followed by our topic discussion. Please follow our bi-weekly, Wednesday evening shows, at 11 pm ET. We will have a new topic for you in two weeks!

If you liked the amateur hockey, lockerroom and post-game bar moments found on the Denis Leary FX dramedy “Rescue Me,” you’re gonna love the new IFC comedy “Benders.” You might say it’s the former show without the drama. Oh, wait. I just did. TOM SELLITTI podcast excerpt: "All of the characters on 'Benders' are narcissists in their own way. We wanted Karen Rosenberg to be one of the guys when she's with the guys. We didn't want her to be the voice of nagging." You can LISTEN to this interview with JIM SERPICO and TOM SELLITTI, co-creators of BENDERS and executive producers of RESCUE ME, SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL and MARON, by clicking the audio player above! Whereas “Rescue Me” pinballed from broad comedy to exceedingly intimate human drama, “Benders” keeps the sarcasm, crudeness and lesson-free tone without any of the heaviness. It has elements of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Married,” “You’re the Worst,” “The League” and even “Archer.” If you like those shows – and, in my household, we do – give “Benders” a try. While the cast is barely familiar from other shows, the creative team calling the shots and diagramming the plays is among TV’s best. JIM SERPICO podcast excerpt: "'Rescue Me' was a post-9/11 story that was grounded and, at the end of the day, Denis Leary created a likable asshole, a guy people rooted for and related to the problems he was going through." Jim Serpico and Tom Sellitti co-created and write “Benders.” Their fingerprints are similarly all over “Rescue Me,” “Maron,” “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll,” “Sirens,” and “Canterbury’s Law.” They also co-executive produced all of those shows with comedian Denis Leary, the star of “Rescue Me” and “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.” (Serpico also worked on Leary’s short-lived ABC sitcom, “The Job,” which later informed “Rescue Me” and “Benders.”) These guys are really, really good at capturing really, really bad people and situations. JIM SERPICO podcast excerpt: "Marc Maron works so hard; he puts his life into his TV show. You get better by doing things; he now has a lot of hours and episodes in front of the cameras. He put a lot of time and heart into 'Maron' on IFC and studied his craft." They are to coarse, adult comedy what Shonda Rhimes is to sophisticated drama on Thursday nights. And what the Duplass Brothers, Mark and Jay, are to everything else that is currently sharply written and of interest on TV and in film. Key interview moments: • 16:30 The characters on "Benders" are, at their core, narcissists; • 40:05 Marc Maron's sitcom on IFC has improved each season as Maron himself has grown more comfortable in the role and expanding the character beyond reality; • 44:45 An inside few of why "Rescue Me" -- and star Denis Leary's character of "Tommy" captured the heart of Americans. Jimmy joined the roundtables for the new Comedy Central series ANOTHER PERIOD. Natasha Leggero, Riki Lindholme, Michael Ian Black, Armen Weitzman, Paget Brewster, Jeremy Konner were all present and hilarious! Michael Ian Black was so damn dry and sarcastic and it was brilliant! Jimmy tried not to let his crush on Natasha Leggero show too much. On the last day of Comic Con, Jimmy did the roundtables for the new FX show SEX&DRUGS&ROCK&ROLL chatting with stars Dennis Leary, Liz Gillies, Elaine Hendrix, John Corbett, Robert Kelly, John Ales. Leary and Gillies already seem to have great chemistry in person as well as on screen playing father and daughter. While these aren't necessarily shows that fall in the nerd realm, we like to cover as a variety of stuff at Comic Con as we all have a diverse taste in entertainment. Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love! Thanks for listening!

Naomie Harris (Jane), as well as working on big budget Hollywood Movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, continues to choose challenging and exciting roles in smaller and more diverse films such as THE FIRST GRADER. She and I had a great interview last week when her tour brought her to the San Francisco Bay Area for a preview screeening of her latest film at Landmark Embarcadero Center in San Francisco. London-born Naomie graduated with honours from Cambridge University in 1998 with a degree in social and political science. She went on to train at the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and had her first major acting breakthrough in 2002 with Danny Boyle's zombie horror film 28 Days Later. She went on to receive further international recognition and critical acclaim in her role as Tia Dalma in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and At World's End. Other major feature film credits include Michael Mann's Miami Vice, Michael Winterbottom's A Cock and Bull Story, and Street Kings with Keanu Reeves and Forrest Whittaker. Most recent feature film projects include: Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll with Andy Serkis; Ninja Assassin directed by James McTeigue; Julian Kemp's My Last Five Girlfriends: and, THE FIRST GRADER, written by Ann Peacock and directed by Justin Chadwick. Major television drama credits have included: Julian Jarrold's White Teeth, based on Zadie Smith's best-selling novel; Peter Kosminsky's The Project; Poppy Shakespeare, Blood and Oil and Small Island for the BBC.We close with the complete interview with Alrick Brown, director of the wonderful film Kinyarwanda, which had a successful screening at the 54th edition of the SFIFF.The film tells a seldom heard story of the Muslim community in Rwanda during the horrific100 days. They made the mosques sacred safe havens for those persecuted.
