You can never get a fired bullet back. Knowing your target and what is beyond it is just the beginning of the responsibility and liability attached to your bullet after the shot is fired. Knowing penetration capabilities of your ammunition is a crucial component in your responsibility as a firearms owner. Ken Allen with Ken Allen Training joins Lefty this episode. Thanks to the viewers and listeners of Riding Shotgun with Charlie! I wanted to reach out and let everyone know that I really appreciate all the support and encouragement that I get for doing the show. It's great to hear that folks hear about passengers on other shows and see that I had them on the Stagecoach. Or better yet, when a fellow podcaster listens to a show to get some back story on a guest and then have them on their podcast. Either way, it's a feeling that the show is going well and helping people learn about others in the firearm community. I was talking with a friend who I call “B-L” Lisa and she thought that doing a Thank You show would be a great way to end the year. I wasn't sure what format I could do the show. Then talking with John Petrolino, he gave it some direction. Despite the pandemic and shutdowns, the loss of jobs and income, 2021 was a successful year! Thanks to these folks for making 2021 successful for The Stagecoach. I got to go hunting with CNJFO, played the Star Spangled Banner in Florida, spoke in Dallas, took training in New Hampshire, South Dakota, Ohio, and Massachusetts. I kept teaching classes in Massachusetts for residents to get their License To Carry. And kept doing Utah classes in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. All along, making new 2A friends! I was able to film more shows than ever before. That meant I was publishing episodes more than ever! From the end of March until November, I put out a show every week. And even in November, I put out shows 3 out of 5 Tuesdays. This year, I published over 40 shows! Gun folks are the greatest folks. RSWC displays many of the movers and shakers in the firearm community in a very different situation, much more intimate and relaxed and off guard. There's a great blend between serious topics, some humor and lightheartedness, and comfort with all of the passengers on the show. Next year, there's going to be more shows, more passengers, and more traveling. My goal is to complete the 5 states East of the Mississippi where I haven't done shows. And get a few more states West of the Mississippi. It wouldn't mean a thing without viewers and listeners. I've got an online store going for sway and merch, which you can find below. Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show episode TLP 204 Replay! This week Lefty delves into The XM17 Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition. The United States Army and United States Air Force competition for a new service pistol. With so many complaints with the Beretta 92FS aka: M-9, after 2o years it was time to replace it with a more modern, more lethal, more modular handgun. For now, the M9's replacement appears to be the Sig Sauer P320. Was the “best” handgun chosen? Was the MHS competition ended prematurely? Did the Government pick price over performance again? We discuss these questions and more in this episode of Talking Lead! To help with the discussion we invited a qualified group of current and former Military servicemen to join in the discussion. John Peterson: A former Army Special Forces soldier with service before and after 9/11 overseas both as an SF troop and intelligence contractor. John has served as a full time firearms instructor at Smith & Wesson Academy and Sig Sauer Academy for 3 years each, then a tour in Afghanistan as a Special Forces soldier, then serving at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security before becoming a contractor supporting the war effort. I have to tell you there are not many people that make me feel old, but when I was talking to today's guest, well that thought came into my mind. The young Mason Lane, who is one of the top competitors in the country, has accomplished so many titles and yet is only in his early twenties. You would think that someone so young would be arrogant and misbehaved but Mason comes from a disciplined family and was an Eagle Scout. Ideals that I fear are becoming out of vogue and corny for some but I respect him for the path he is following. Mason also had a great year. I recently was able to bring on a bunch of competitors, specifically in action pistol who put in a huge amount of practice and work. Each one of them had the opportunity to go to the IPSC World Shoot which only happens every three years. But I was very interested to hear Mason's journey as he is pretty young to be shooting on the world stage. Luckily for Mason, he is also sponsored by the Sig Sauer Academy in New Hampshire. The Sig Sauer Academy is one of the top training facilities in the United States and offer a ton of classes on a variety of shooting disciplines. Three takeaways from today's show are 1) why you need to use emotion in order to motivate you in training 2) why dry fire will take a so-so shooter and make them better and 3) to remember that if you are not having a good match or suck in practice, no one is going to remember that..but you. Mason might be young but has a lot of great material. Riley and Jacob had the privilege of interviewing Andrew Branca, the top attorney in the U.S. for all things self-defense law. Andrew is the author of the book The Law of Self Defense and is an experienced attorney who teaches at the FBI's National Academy, has taught at Sig Sauer Academy, appears on the Outdoor Channel's TV show "The Best Defense", and writes extensively for websites and blogs online including the National Review. He is often quoted as a subject matter expert on use-of-force law by major national print and broadcast media. He regularly consults with attorneys across the nation on various self-defense cases. In this episode we get into "Stand Your Ground" law, "Castle Doctrine", "Make My Day", how to deal with law enforcement and the consequences immediately following a defensive gun use.
Join Adam Painchaud as he interviews Kris "Tanto" Paronto and talks about his experience as he was left in Benghazi Lybia stranded with his team to fight off combatants. And how this experience has molded his attitude and mindset at home and in family life. He also talks about the guns he carries like the Glock 19, Sig Sauer P320 and others. My guest today is an attorney, an author, competitive shooter and tv guest host. Andrew Branca has been a lifelong shooter and reached master class in IDPA. Knowing that there was a lot of misinformation on being involved in a self-defense shooting, he focused his legal career to learn the subsection of criminal law the deals with use of force and defending your life. He quickly became a subject matter expert on the laws of self-defense and has been quoted in major newspapers and on nationally syndicated broadcast shows. He recently became a guest host on the hit tv show on the Outdoor Channel, “The Best Defense”. Andrew has written the go to book called “The Law of Self-Defense” which is in it's 3rd edition and that is the name of his website. Finally, Andrew teaches classes around the country on this topic and was a guest instructor at the prestigious Sig Sauer Academy. This is probably the most important episode of the Firearms Nation Podcast. If you have to draw your gun and defend your life, knowing what we are about to talk about will certainly save you tons of heartache. Podcast 6 Adam Painchaud VP Sig Sauer Academy and Air Force Veteran as well as LE Dude. Kyle and Adam talk guns, tactics, shooting, Sig Academy, and even dig into the Army Pistol Contract for the SIG 320.
It is vital that we are constantly challenging our beliefs. When it comes to the more critical aspects of our lives, we owe it to ourselves to make certain that we are evaluating on truth rather than on what we believe to be the truth. Of course that is an endless quest, however, it is an important one. Today I share with you a conversation designed to help me in that pursuit of knowledge. While at the NRAAM in Louisville, I took some time to talk with the folks at Sig Sauer. My specific questions revolved around the Sig P320 and the fact that it didn't have the trigger safety that is common with so many striker fired handguns. The result of the conversation was this podcast. I spoke at length with Scott Kenneson, the director of training for the Sig Sauer Academy. The conversation was a great one and I hope that you enjoy it.
