This direct was a complete 180 from the previous one, where the only thing that really got me hyped was Metroid Prime 4. I'm 100% on board with being an early adopter for this, whereas, I wasn't when the original Switch was announced. They're truly making a version of the Switch that I always wanted. Not only that, but they also announced games that I'm excited for, which seals the deal that it's going to be a day 1 purchase. I didn't expect it, but the game I am most excited for is DK Bananza! Also, with my kids getting older and moving out, I love the integrated video chat and screen sharing options. Space. Some say it's the final frontier, but I never watched Star Trek so honestly I wouldn't say that. Nobody can hear you scream in space, though! … But I haven't seen Alien, either. Neither of these things has anything to do with the topic of this episode, the only slight thread that can be found is the fact that they all take place in space to some degree. Sure, not entirely in space. In fact some might say the amount of times our subject isn't in space is too many. That subject is Smashterpiece #49: Star Fox: Assault, where space ships are reportedly part of the whole experience. I don't know where I'm going with this and the meds are kicking in. Which meds? Iunno, Peppy had a lot sitting on his desk and I just sorta went ham. The music in this game is pretty alright, though! I don't like dinosaurs. Does anybody else see those bugs? I don't wanna write this episode description. You can't make me write it. What did this game do for me that makes it deserve an episode description from Michelin five star episode description chef Joe? Oh, what, is it pretentious to give myself five stars? It's called self-confidence and I'm usually devoid of it, unlike the protagonist of Smashterpiece #48, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Samus Aran. She fights those there Ing and she does it without breaking a sweat! I assume. She wears a helmet, it's difficult to tell. Anyways, no matter what Melanie says I don't believe I owe this game my time in writing an episode description. I won't be bullied into it, there's nothing you or those Luminoths or any other space bugs can say that will change my mind. Especially not Spider Guardian, don't you DARE bring up Spider Guardian, stupid rolly thing it doesn't even look like a spider, can't even do that right. This week on The Free Cheese, we should always fear shrimp. What happens when the Ace Combat team makes a Star Fox game? We take on the Aparoids to save the galaxy as Team Star Fox in the Namco-developed Star Fox Assault. We talk about the history of Star Fox games and how many reboots the series has endured so far, and of course wonder where it will go next.

To celebrate Star Fox 64 turning 25 years old this week Neil and Mike are looking back on the second Star Fox entry in the GameCube's library. Assault never won over the critics but it many moments of sheer greatness that brought fans back into the franchise after experiencing a Star Fox game that was really just Star Fox in name only. I loved the game(s) growing up, specifically Star Fox Assault which is in my humble gamer opinion one of the most criminally underrated Gamecube games. Not only does it have really fun multiplayer, tons of variety, and great graphics, but it's got an interesting and surprisingly dark story mode. Unfortunately the furry queen herself, Krystal, doesn't make an appearance in this "Dudes Only" fan fiction, but we'll save my beautiful blue princess and her psychic antics for another episode. After fighting a recent illness that's kept him off his feet, Hyle stumbles out of bed with a delayed Kongversation recorded just before the unveiling of the Nintendo NX. Joined by Star Fox enthusiast Cameron Reigle, they ask what could possibly save the Star Fox franchise after the colossal failure of Star Fox Zero. Believe it or not, their answer isn't a Tricky solo game. I mean, sure, they'd support that one hundred percent, but...

It's been an interesting week for fans of Nintendo. From Star Fox Zero's release (that's been contentious in the DK Vine community) to renewed rumors of a Monster Games-developed Diddy Kong Racing, it would have been enough to base an entire episode around. But then Nintendo seemed to set their entire company on fire by announcing that the NX, and Zelda, are delayed until March of next year... and the Wii U version of Zelda is the only game they're showing at E3. HUH? Note that Hyle originally wanted the episode title "NintenD'OH!", thinking it would please classic Simpsons fan Chad. Chad argued that they should double down and go with the more obscure Simpsons reference "Ninten(annoyed grunt)". Chad won.

Comemorando o lançamento de Star Fox Zero, o mais novo título da franquia Star Fox, o Aperte o PLAY! desta semana não poderia ser diferente, senão uma revisitação a algumas das melhores músicas que compõem as trilhas sonoras desta querida série de rolling shooter, exclusiva da Nintendo. O podcast da vez foi feito através do formato Game Studio, aonde é comentado um pouco sobre os jogos escolhidos para a edição, e principalmente sobre os compositores das trilhas sonoras prestigiadas; além de curiosidades de produção e mais algumas coisinhas divertidas e/ou pessoais.
