It is a theatrical addition to Parsons' web series and was inspired by the "Backrooms" creepypasta. In the film, Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a furniture store owner, and Mary (Renate Reinsve), his therapist, discover a dimension of seemingly endless liminal spaces accessed through the store's basement. Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, and Lukita Maxwell also star. After uploading the web series in January 2022, Parsons was approached by several studios about potentially adapting his series into a feature film. In February 2023, it was officially announced that work had begun on a film adaptation of the Backrooms based on Parsons' videos, with him also directing. Roberto Patino was initially set to write the screenplay, but was replaced by Soodik. Filming began in the summer of 2025 and concluded in August 2025.Backrooms premiered at the Aero Theatre in Los Angeles on May 7, 2026, and was theatrically released in the United States by A24 on May 29. The film received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $350 million worldwide, becoming A24's highest-grossing film to date and making Parsons the youngest filmmaker to reach number one at the United States box office. Backrooms is the ninth-highest-grossing film of 2026 and the second-highest-grossing horror film of 2026.

Based on decades of research, Beyond the Quantum: A Quest for the Origin and Hidden Meaning of Quantum Mechanics (Oxford UP, 2026) offers a panoramic rethink of quantum physics, with potentially revolutionary implications for cosmology, quantum gravity, and quantum technology. Properly understood, 'pilot-wave theory' provides a deeper foundation for quantum mechanics, while also going beyond it. First proposed in the 1920s by French aristocrat and physicist Louis de Broglie, and revived in the 1950s by American physicist David Bohm, the theory posits hidden particle motions we cannot currently see or control. The theory is usually regarded as merely an alternative account of the same physics we already know. In fact, pilot-wave theory implies a wealth of new and radical physics beyond the reach of quantum mechanics. Pilot-wave theory tells us that quantum physics is a special case of something broader and deeper. In more general 'nonequilibrium' conditions, Einstein's relativity and Heisenberg's uncertainty break down. Superluminal signalling becomes possible, and quantum particles can be clearly seen and controlled. This new physics could have left traces in the early universe, and it might be visible today in radiation from exploding primordial black holes. Harnessing this new physics would have transformative technological implications, in particular for communication, cryptography, and computing. Drawing intriguing parallels between the present era of quantum physics and past episodes of scientific confusion, this book tells the story of how pilot-wave theory was discovered and abandoned, revived and reconstructed, and how today it can pave the way to a new and radical physics beyond the quantum. LUMINARY IN ART CRITIQUE. Andrew Graham-Dixon is a leading art critic and presenter of arts television in the English-speaking world. With a long history of public service in the field of the visual arts he has won numerous awards for writing and broadcasting. His book "Caravaggio A Life Sacred and Profane" is a Sunday Times Bestseller, and his recent title "Vermeer: A Life Lost and Found" paints a dramatically new picture of Vermeer. Graham-Dixon reveals many of the painter's hitherto unknown friendships, as well as his previously undetected allegiance to a radical movement driven underground by persecution. "Vermeer is the first really great religious painter of introspective post-Reformation religion." "The Dutch Golden Age is probably the worst name ever given to a period in history by historians. It's not a golden age. It's an age of blood." "I'm a profound Collegiant. There's not many of us now. I believe in universal tolerance." https://www.alainelkanninterviews.com/andrew-graham-dixon/
Creep (2014) is one of the most unsettling found footage horror movies of the 2010s, and in this episode of Cutting Deep into Horror, Henrique Couto and Rachael Redolfi dig into why Patrick Brice's microbudget nightmare still works so well. This episode centers on Creep, the 2014 psychological horror film directed by Patrick Brice and built around the deeply unnerving chemistry between Mark Duplass and Brice himself. The uploaded episode notes describe the discussion as a deep dive into trust, manipulation, ethical boundaries, filmmaking, and emotional vulnerability, with the hosts also teasing One Cut of the Dead for next week. Inside this episodeWhy Creep feels so real and why its awkward, intimate style makes the horror hit harderJosef as a manipulator, using warmth, humor, and vulnerability as weaponsFound footage tension and how the film turns normal social discomfort into dreadFilmmaking ethics and performance, including how the movie comments on directors, subjects, and emotional exploitationHenrique and Rachael's own filmmaking stories, including videography and client-boundary experiences that echo the film's anxietiesThe final act and ending, and why the movie lingers long after it is overThese themes line up closely with the episode chapters and summary embedded in the uploaded transcript file, including sections on wedding videography struggles, first impressions, the shift in atmosphere, the Peachfuzz reveal, manipulation, and filmmaking truths. About the filmCreep premiered at SXSW on March 8, 2014. It was directed by Patrick Brice, with story credit shared by Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass, and it has gone on to become a modern cult favorite in found-footage and psychological horror circles. It stars Mark Duplass as Josef and Patrick Brice as Aaron. Where to watch (U.S., this week)Current U.S. availability appears to include Netflix, Netflix Standard with Ads, Amazon Prime Video, and Amazon Prime Video with Ads for streaming, with Amazon Video and Fandango At Home showing rental and/or purchase options. I'm only listing options that were corroborated across multiple sources. Henrique Couto and Rachael Redolfi go beyond a surface-level review and really get into why Creep feels so disturbing, how Josef weaponizes performance, and why the movie doubles as a nasty little commentary on storytelling itself.

Today on Ascend: The Great Books Podcast, Dcn. Harrison Garlick takes a popular article from The Ascent, a top 100 substack in faith and spirituality, and does a deep dive on CS Lewis, Dante, and the problem of evil (theodicy). Check out THE ASCENT - a top 100 Substack on Christianity spirituality.Check out "The Hidden Meaning of Narnia's Endless Winter" Substack article.Check out the NEW Instagram page for Ascend. In this fascinating episode Deacon Garlick explores one of C.S. Lewis's most striking images: the never-ending winter in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Why is it “always winter but never Christmas”?Far more than a chilly backdrop, Lewis uses the endless cold as a powerful allegory for evil itself. Deacon connects Lewis' imagery to Dante's frozen pit at the bottom of Hell in the Inferno, revealing how both Christian master-teachers portray evil not as an opposite of the good, but as a cold, lifeless privation—an absence of heat, motion, and life. You'll gain fresh insight into:- Why evil is best understood as a “hole in the ground” or darkness without light- How the White Witch's power to turn creatures to stone mirrors the soul-freezing effect of sin- The beautiful contrast of Aslan's warm, life-giving breath (echoing John's Pentecost and the forgiveness of sins)- The deeper Christian truth that goodness and being are convertible—evil pulls us toward unreality and non-existenceDeacon also shares why reading Narnia to children is such a gift: it trains young minds to love allegory, unlocks the four senses of Scripture, and cultivates a richer, more sacramental view of reality.Warm, thoughtful, and packed with spiritual wisdom, this episode will leave you with renewed appreciation for Lewis, Dante, and the profound way great stories reveal eternal truths. If you love C.S. There are certain artifacts in history that continue to raise questions no one has been able to fully answer. The Shroud of Turin… the Sudarium of Oviedo… ancient cloths tied to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.Studied for decades… analyzed by scientists… and still surrounded by mystery. But hidden within these relics is a detail that keeps showing up—again and again.A detail that shouldn't be there… and yet it is.In this episode, Joel Thomas from Free The Rabbits takes a closer look at the Passion Cloths, the science behind them, and the question that continues to linger:What exactly are we looking at? In Part 2 of my conversation with Stacy M., we continue pulling back the curtain on Freemasonry and examining the questions most people are told not to ask.If the organization is simply a harmless fraternity, why so much secrecy? Why the elaborate rituals, layered symbolism, and strict oaths? And why have so many influential leaders throughout history been tied to it?In this episode, we dig deeper into the structure of Freemasonry, the meaning behind its rituals and symbols, and the concerns many Christians and researchers have raised about its spiritual and cultural influence. We also discuss why criticism of the organization is often quickly dismissed—and why that reaction alone should make people more curious, not less. This conversation isn't about sensationalism. It's about discernment. When powerful institutions operate largely out of public view yet intersect with leadership, culture, and faith, they deserve thoughtful examination. The goal isn't to tell people what to think, but to encourage them to start asking questions for themselves.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app

In Genesis 8, the floodwaters begin to recede — but not the way you might expect. God send saw wind instead of simply commanding the waters. The ark rests on a mountain before the waters are gone. Then, Noah sends out two different birds: a raven and then a dove. And, we should be asking why? These aren't random details. There's something deeper happening beneath the surface of this story. The language of wind, rest, mountains, sevens, olive leaves, and waiting isn't accidental — it's pointing us somewhere. In this video, we're going to walk slowly through Genesis 8:1–12 and uncover the patterns and symbols you might have missed. Today on Uncommon Sense, I'm joined by Stacy M. for a conversation that too many people are afraid (or unwilling) to have. We're discussing Freemasonry: what it is, what it claims to be, and the darker, more sinister elements that often get brushed aside or ignored entirely. From secrecy and symbolism to influence and power, we're asking the questions that rarely get real answers. Why has this secret society maintained such a strong presence for so long? Why does it seem to intersect so frequently with positions of power—including within our own government? And most importantly… why aren't more people talking about it?This episode isn't about blind accusations, it's about awareness. If something holds influence, operates behind closed doors, and shapes culture or leadership in any capacity, it deserves scrutiny. It's time to start paying attention and asking better questions.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app

(00:00:00) First, Mi Xian and Mark Fazollah of Spotlight PA join us to discuss their reporting on undercounted and misreported rapes in the State College area. Their investigation reveals how gaps in data, institutional practices, and reporting systems can obscure the reality of sexual violence. They walk us through what they uncovered, why these discrepancies matter, and how communities are affected when the numbers meant to protect them fall short. (00:22:21) Then, we shift from modern reporting failures to the deep past with Chrissie Senecal, historian at Shippensburg University, for a journey into the origins and evolution of nursery rhymes. Chrissie explores how many familiar rhymes trace back to medieval Europe, shaped by the politics, fears, humor, and social tensions of their time. We dig into the “dark” or hidden meanings encoded in rhyme and rhythm, how these verses transformed from adult commentary to children’s entertainment, and why they’ve endured for centuries. Conflict, suffering, and global instability aren't framed as failures of the system here, they're revealed as catalysts for awakening, testing whether we respond with fear or clarity. We also address why spiritual bypassing keeps people stuck, how vulnerability functions as a stabilizing force rather than a weakness, and why embodiment — not dissociation — is required for real spiritual maturity. If you've felt unsure how to stay grounded, this episode offers clarity. You'll Learn:[00:00] Introduction[02:22] What vulnerability reveals about transformation in the present[08:44] Alec's dream about his grandfather revealed the movement from 3rd to 4th density consciousness[15:19] The Buddha in Red Face story[21:11] Integrating masculine and feminine energies increases the strength of both rather than diminishing either[32:52] When Edmund discovered The Law of One[42:53] The eight densities of consciousness [53:01] Practicing love during division without falling into spiritual bypassing[01:10:01] Why those in service to self are actually serving us by offering opportunities to choose love[01:20:05] How the veil of forgetting and free will allow us to remember our true nature as creators[01:43:58] Distinguishing your own essence from external noise through stillness and Steiner's practices[01:57:35] Why true forgiveness becomes unnecessary when we understand our projections[02:17:16] Why we cannot return to tribal ways and must move forward with new forms of conscious community[02:39:30] What the Germanic and Slavic epochs reveal about humanity's progression from individual thinking to soul-warmed communityRelated The Way Forward Episodes:Beyond Verbal Autists, Telepathy & The Nature Of Thought with Melissa Jolly Graves | YouTubeSoulstice Magic, 13 Holy Nights & Neurogenic Qigong featuring Lara Day | YouTubeMemoirs of a Child Sex Slave: Quest For Love featuring Anneke Lucas | YoutubeResources Mentioned:Law of One | WebsiteBe Here Farm + Nature | WebsiteBeing Human Event | WebsiteBuddha in Redface by Eduardo Duran | BookTranscendent Sex by Jenny Wade | BookThe Red Lion by Maria Szepes | BookMutant Message Down Under by Marlo Morgan | Book or AudiobookClick here to enroll in the 2026 season of Being Human. Did you know that everyday symbols like the ampersand and the yin-yang have fascinating histories? The ampersand (&) actually started as a stylish way to write "et," which means "and" in Latin. The yin-yang symbol, on the other hand, comes from ancient philosophy and represents how opposite forces are interconnected and balance each other out. These and other common symbols are more than just everyday marks; they carry stories and meanings from different cultures and times! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
