I discuss the Marian apparitions of Garabandal with Brother Richard. The 18th June 2026 marks 65 years since the apparition of Archangel Michael appeared to four girls aged between 10 and 12 and told them that the Blessed Virgin Mary would visit them. On 2nd July she appeared to the girls and for the following five years, mulititudes of Marian visitations were reported drawing thousands of people to the small hamlet in northern Spain where they witnessed the girls in ecstatic trance. Some years ago, Anna Vigurs had an extraordinary experience in the Forest of Dean which subsequently marked a downturn in her health. As a child, during a long, but thankfully temporary period of disability, she had grown familiar with out-of-body experiences. Her ability to slip into altered states has remained throughout her life. Anna describes her trip into another realm on Summer Solstice where she met a group of beings and experienced a shift in time. In 1970, Ian was staying on Lismore Island near Oban in the Western Highlands of Scotland with two friends, when orbs passed through a window and entered the room. Humanoid beings inside the orbs seemed to begin engaging with them and his life was changed ever after. A small being walked across Rebekah's home after a sense of presence had been felt for some time. She never imagined it was possible to have an experience like this…until it happened. The therianthrope being appeared weary from travelling, with staff in hand - ‘his' face reminiscent of an indigenous person. He passed across a doorway in Rebekah's home, seemingly across the building, incongruent to the layout of the house. "The creature was maybe about knee high. It was bipedal and walked with a human gait, but it was a little hunched. I think he might have been wearing brown breeches or something, but nothing else, because his top half was hairy or fur covered, like an animal...my impression was a mixture of animal and human in feature." We discuss the possibility that her home, which is situated next to a mine (a potentially significant factor), lies on a fairy path (a line between two sacred points in the landscape which fairy beings travel along). We also hear how a previous occupant may have been present in the house and possibly took the form of an ‘angel' who used to visit Rebekah's daughter as a child. I was fascinated to hear about the ancient ‘Stonehenge-like' monument beneath the surface of Lake Michigan - one of the sacred sites mentioned. The case of The Cottingley Fairies has captured people's imaginations for over a century. But the photos that Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths created of the "Beck Fairies" near their home on the outskirts of Bradford in 1917 are now more famous for being the subject of a hoax. However, there is much more to the story and it is really one of tragedy rather than trickery. I chat to Dr Simon Young about the lesser known aspects of the case, predominantly from the perspective of the younger child, Frances who was the only one who had claimed to see the fairies. We discuss how her personal experience became twisted into a painful untruth which burdened Frances for her entire life. The work of Dr Simon Young is highly respected in the fairy community and much loved for his resurrection of The Fairy Investigation Society and subsequent Fairy Census, which is ongoing. For some time now, I had been meaning to share the profound experiences that took place in relation to my father's death. It feels tender and vulnerable to offer these stories but I own the decision to do that. I hope that hearing about these experiences might help someone else who is moving through a death or grief process…or they might simply provide another way to view these moments which inevitably take place at some time or another in all our lives. It's been quiet on the Pod lately as I'm in the last few weeks of writing my book, ‘Modern Fairy Sightings: Personal Encounters in Extraordinary Times.' It was an honour to speak with Amanda about her family's experiences. I speak with Rick, whose father was an intelligence agent in the CIA from the 1950s onwards. One night in 1954 in Austria, when Rick was a young child left alone briefly in his parents' bed, something unseen began pulling at his body from the bottom of the bed. Eventually, a red being popped up at the side of his bed and shouted ‘FA!' in his face. It was the culmination of many other unsettling experiences. The family later returned to North America, living in various locations.Later, as a young man while training in Buddhist meditation techniques his encounters with Otherworldly beings began to reignite. The pattern seems to suggest that these beings have been reaching out to him for his entire life. He is now ready to engage with them, if only they would return.This was a fascinating conversation. I spoke to Bryn Chainey, Director of 'Rabbit Trap', Bryn's first feature film. The story centres around a couple in (no later than) 1976 who have moved into the Welsh countryside on a creative retreat. Daphne (Rosy McEwen) an avant garde vocalist and her husband Darcy (Dev Patel) an experimental sound recordist, use the new found space to explore their art and their relationship. In doing so, they stumble across unusual sounds, enter the depths of nature and experience something Otherworldly...at which point a stranger enters their lives.It was great to chat with Bryn and learn what had inspired him. Turns out that, like many of us, he's been familiar with these worlds since childhood. And, (as these magical kinds of projects tend to do) against all odds, the film found it's way into the insightful hands of SpectreVision - yet another nudge that there's definitely something driving this opening of hearts and minds towards the Otherworld, into the mainstream. It's a brilliant film, sensitive to these themes, incredible cinematography due to the fact that it's all shot on 35mm, giving a soothing sense of spaciousness to the natural world backdrop that runs throughout the story. The soundscape is masterful and an experience all by itself. I loved it!! Go and see it if you can. The film releases Friday 12th September in cinemas all across the US. We are hoping it will come to Europe too. In the meantime, check out Bryn's previous short film Moritz and the Woodwose (2013) - I think the portrayal of the being is really inspired. Tiyi lives in North Michigan where she is the Mayor of her town! She has Irish, Creole and Nordic ancestry and can trace her lineage back to Haiti in 1702. Her family's story is fascinating. Tiyi starts off by telling us about her Great-Grandmother who met a leprechaun in Cork, Ireland and shows us the resulting enchanted shillelagh that has been passed down her family. We hear also about her grandfather's Hoodoo practices and the wisdom he passed down to her. Being a sensitive soul and clearly bearing the generations of practice of sensitive and honourable spiritual contact, Tiyi recalls hearing ghosts and voices as a child. On occasion she would encounter what she describes as 'The Slinky Lady' and one of her stories details flying out-of-body experience where she felt herself as part of the landscape. Tiyi works with forest spirits and shares a life-changing experience in a woodland which took place at a very difficult time in her life. During this wondrous encounter, she received a blessing from the forest. On another occasion she perceived 'The Gate Keeper' in the forest, from which she produced the painting that is shared in the episode. We hear about the 'talking tree' that her grandchildren reported, and we end with a series of mind bogging photos that could potentially indicate a Sasquatch encounter! The Case of the 'Sandown Clown' on the Isle of Wight has intrigued researchers for decades. Now, a woman claiming to be the long-sought-after witness, 'Fay' (a pseudonym) who was seven when the encounter took place has made contact with fellow Wight Islander, Paul Wilson. The woman who has provided compelling material evidence now reports subsequent encounters took place with the same being in 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1989. She later encountered an imp while staying in a holiday cottage with her family. With a history of mediumship that seems to have been passed down her ancestral lineage through her great grandmothers (listen to the full extended version on Patreon for a discussion on her mediumship experiences) , Corinne shares how her abilities showed up initially and how she was ultimately able to use visualisation to release a fairy being who appeared to be unwittingly 'stuck' in this material plane. He has written a number of books on the subject including Explore Fairy Traditions which won Katharine Briggs Award and the more recent Cloven Country: The Devil and the English Landscape Jeremy's new book Fairy Encounters in Medieval England: Landscape, Folklore and the Supernatural is a really great read. It's entertaining and wittily written. Supernatural encounters from primary source material are tied together throughout the chapters and also include stories related to documented miracles.
