Met Wim T. in het caféOp 26 oktober 2021 sprak Hester Wandel af met Wim T. Schippers in café Scheltema in Amsterdam. Niet perse om over hem te praten maar over haar oom graficus Wim Wandel met wie hij had samengewerkt. Ze spraken af in Scheltema want daar was het lekker rustig op een dinsdagochtend. Het was in coronatijd.Nou nee dus, de ober tetterde overal overheen en rammelde met stoelen en kopjes. Het leek wel een sketch van Wim T. zelf.Wim vertelde uitgebreid over Wim Wandel en hun samenwerking. Maar ook veel over zichzelf. Over hoe hij zijn werk verkocht aan het stedelijk, over z'n vader, over Bert en Ernie. Het was een gesprek van meer dan twee uur waarvan maar een klein deel gebruikt kon worden voor de podcast over Wim Wandel. Ook vanwege de herrie in het café. Maar ze mocht wel een keer in zijn atelier komen als het was opgeruimd. Maar daarvan kwam het nooit meer. In 2023 overleed zijn vrouw Ellen Jens. En opeens was Wim T. Schippers er niet meer. Hij overleed op 10 juni 2026, vlak voor zijn 84ste verjaardag.Omdat het zo'n leuk gesprek was daar in Scheltema heeft Hester besloten het gesprek helemaal uit te zenden met alle kroeggeluiden op de koop toe. NPO 1 en SBS 6 brengen twee nieuwe praatprogramma’s nu het WK voetbal in volle gang is. Waar de NPO kiest voor twee totaal nieuwe analisten, verzamelt SBS alle nepobaby’s bij elkaar in één café. „Het Oranje Café? In De Perstribune ontvangt Margreet Reijntjes deze week oud-atlete Dafne Schippers en presentator/schrijfster Hadassah de Boer. Hadassah de Boer is programmamaker en schrijver. Haar werk in de media begon met een stage bij de Amsterdamse stadszender AT5. Al snel werd ze daar een van de gezichten en maakte vervolgens de overstap naar Hilversum. Daar presenteerde ze onder andere de culturele talkshow TV3 en later NPS Arena. De laatste jaren publiceerde ze een aantal boeken, onder meer over de moeizame band met de vrouw van haar vader. Over een paar weken verschijnt er een nieuw boek van haar hand: Ram. Dafne Schippers is de voormalige meerkamper die uiteindelijk kiest voor de sprint en goud pakt op de 200 meter tijdens het WK in 2015. Ze wordt het gezicht van een groot sportmerk en is overal ter wereld te zien op grote billboards. In haar onlangs verscheen biografie Dafne, mijn verhaal (geschreven door Marijn de Vries) lezen we dat ze tijdens haar carrière eenzaam en ongelukkig is geweest en zich door begeleiders behandeld voelde als een prestatiemachine.

Het antwoord daarop is domineren, krenken. Continu. Onbewust.Ze trekt daarbij parallellen naar de samenleving die dezelfde valkuilen en opgaven kent als het gaat om helen en het vinden van vrede met elkaar.Een must-see voor mensen die trauma kennen of die zelf hebben te dealen met narcistische trekken. De dapperen die de zelfconfrontatie aan willen gaan omdat ze iets opvalt in hun relationele leven. Tiyi lives in North Michigan where she is the Mayor of her town! She has Irish, Creole and Nordic ancestry and can trace her lineage back to Haiti in 1702. Her family's story is fascinating. Tiyi starts off by telling us about her Great-Grandmother who met a leprechaun in Cork, Ireland and shows us the resulting enchanted shillelagh that has been passed down her family. We hear also about her grandfather's Hoodoo practices and the wisdom he passed down to her. Being a sensitive soul and clearly bearing the generations of practice of sensitive and honourable spiritual contact, Tiyi recalls hearing ghosts and voices as a child. On occasion she would encounter what she describes as 'The Slinky Lady' and one of her stories details flying out-of-body experience where she felt herself as part of the landscape. Tiyi works with forest spirits and shares a life-changing experience in a woodland which took place at a very difficult time in her life. During this wondrous encounter, she received a blessing from the forest. On another occasion she perceived 'The Gate Keeper' in the forest, from which she produced the painting that is shared in the episode. We hear about the 'talking tree' that her grandchildren reported, and we end with a series of mind bogging photos that could potentially indicate a Sasquatch encounter! Deze week, 35 jaar na de val van de muur, praat Lara Billie Rense met vertaler en Duitslandkenner Elly Schippers over het leven van de gevierd schrijfster Birgitte Reimann (1933-1973). Net als haar personages was ze even idealistisch als uitgesproken: ze durfde het regime in de DDR openlijk te bekritiseren. Afgelopen zomer verscheen de door Schippers vertaalde correspondentie tussen Brigitte Reimann en haar vriendin Irmgard Weinhofen, die sinds haar huwelijk met een Nederlander in het verre Amsterdam woonde. Deze correspondentie geeft een indringend en ontroerend beeld van een literaire ster uit de DDR, wier levenslust en schrijftalent ondanks haar vroege dood nog lang nagloeien. In het tweede uur en de podcast van Wat blijft: In de podcast Wat Blijft hoor je de komende weken de 12-delige serie Grote Geesten over indrukwekkende denkers uit de Humanistische Canon. Van Aristoteles tot Hannah Arendt en van Simone De Beauvoir tot James Baldwin. Wat hebben zij betekend? Wat kunnen we leren van hun leven en denken?  En hoe leven zij voort?  In de zesde aflevering volgt Annette van Soest het spoor terug van filosoof en schrijver Simone de Beauvoir. De Beauvoir werd in Parijs geboren, waar ze 78 jaar later ook zou komen te overlijden. Ondanks weinig geld thuis kreeg ze toch de mogelijkheid om aan de Sorbonne te studeren: literatuur, wiskunde en filosofie. Ze werd bekend als schrijver van het baanbrekende boek De tweede sekse (1949, in het Frans: La Deuxième Sexe) dat gaat over het idee dat je niet als vrouw wordt geboren, maar tot vrouw wordt gemaakt. De Beauvoir verzette zich tegen de traditionele rol van de vrouw als moeder. Ze was er haar tijd ver mee vooruit: het werd een standaardwerk voor feministen en luidde de Tweede Feministische Golf in. Simone de Beauvoir was, net als haar levensgezel Jean-Paul Sartre, een existentialistisch filosoof. De twee sloten een levenslang liefdespact waarin ze beloofden elkaar vrij te laten: ze trouwden nooit en hadden een open relatie. De Beauvoir geldt nog steeds als lichtend voorbeeld voor vrouwen. Mylaina Schippers beloved older brother Sal lived for over 6 years after his diagnosis of Leukemia in the early days of 2016 when Sal was 15 years old. Mylaina will talk about Sal's journey in which he had to go through 2 relapses but also had some good moments and accomplishments when he was feeling and doing well. Sal passed away from the Pediatric Blood cancer in April of 2022, one month after his 21st birthday.

This episode was recorded on October 3rd, 2022. Michaéla C. Schippers is a Professor of Behaviour and Performance Management at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the Free University in Amsterdam. Her research interests include goal setting, team performance, academic performance, ikigai (purpose in life), and life goals. She coined the term "life crafting" to optimize performance and happiness. She collaborated with Jordan Peterson and published a paper on how setting life goals closed the gender and ethnic minority performance gap. They also spoke together on a podcast about the pandemic of narcissism. Her work has been published in leading academic journals and she has been interviewed by CNN, New York Magazine, and O Magazine. She has been a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School and is involved in various projects and initiatives aimed at making the world a better place.
