We were joined today by Hume For Palestine member Waseem Razvi to discuss the campaign. Waseem is the founder of Islamic Research + Education Academy and an activist at Alliance Against Islamophobia, which works to challenge Islamophobia, assisting and empowering affected individuals and communities.// Amber, a white queer trans person based in Naarm, caught up with Priya yesterday to talk about autonomous queer and trans resistance against the pinkwashing of cops, corporations and colonialism at pride in the wake of a successful but brutally policed protest against the inclusion of Victoria Police in the annual Midsumma parade last Sunday. At this event, queer and trans community members were violently assaulted by cops at the march, with footage circulating of protestors being slapped and choked by police. Since Sunday, radical queer and trans groups including Queer Killjoys and Trans Queer Solidarity have published some important reflections on exposing pinkwashing and reclaiming queer and trans self-expression from the predatory creep of diversity and inclusion approaches to interconnected forms of systemic violence. RISE have consistently called for a boycott of Midsumma given the festival's pinkwashing of policing, Australia's immigration detention system, and the images of Australia's major political parties - you can read their 2024 statement here. Trust us, our pink dollars are better spent on local initiatives that genuinely support our communities, including Beyond Bricks and Bars, fundraisers organised by Husk Housing Support and on the work that RISE does for queer and trans ex-detainees.// Larrakia, Kungarakan, Gurindji and French writer and performer Laniyuk joins us to continue the conversation started with Phuong on this week's episode of Tuesday Breakfast about the campaign to return Lee Point to Larrakia care. This week we revisit our First Nations Women and Song International Working Women's Day Episode produced by Ivka and Jasmine from our Tuesday Breakfast team. Together, they walk listeners through a curated selection of First Nations Music that celebrates women and gender diverse people.  Alla is a powerful Yorta Yorta winyarr, a storyteller, composer, director, producer, musician and soundscape designer. She was also the recipient of the Archie Roach Foundation Award for Emerging Talent (2021 Music Victoria Awards) and is a founding member of Ensemble Dutala. Her music emphasises double-bass, sounds from Country and more acoustic instrumentals to weave in healing, authentic textures to her art. We re-visit an interview with Jessie Lloyd that our host, Phuong, did during May last year. They discuss Jessie's album, Ailan Songs project - Four Winds, a contemporised exploration of popular historical songes from the Torres Straits. Another interview Jasmine coordinated was one with Dja Dja Wurrung and Yorta Yorta winyarr, Allira Dryden. Allira was one of the dancers from Djaara dance group, who performed at First and Forever in late last year. Here's our playlist:Wala Is Life - AllaraSwana - Jessie LloydFriends with Feelings - Alice SkyeNannas Song - Shellie Morris and the Booroloola SongwomenSunshine on a Rainy Day - Christine AnuCinderella - ShakayaClosure - RONA. ft HelenaThe Brown Snake - Thelma PlumNeon Moon - Miiesha and The Woorabinda SingersMan on the Moon - Kee'ahn

7:20 Murrawah Johnson, a Wirdi woman, First Nations Program Lead and Co-Director of Youth Verdict, talks about Youth Verdict's win against Waratah Coal, the massive Clive Palmer-owned Galilee Basin coal project. Last week, a Queensland court said that the coal project should not go ahead because of its contribution to climate change, its environmental impacts, and because it would erode human rights. It was the first time human rights arguments were used in a climate change case in Australia.  7:45 Nahui Jimenez, a Mexican-Australian socialist and community activist, talks about the recent state election and the role that race and class played in them. Nahui believes that racism, Indigenous oppression, climate change, the housing crisis, and the many other big challenges we face as a society are grounded in the destructive, competitive nature of capitalism. She has been involved in the Campaign Against Racism and Fascism, organised campaigns against far right, neo Nazi, and Islamophobic groups, and has worked with young leaders of the Sudanese community to counter the racist hysteria and more.  8:05 Fleur Taylor, Vice President of Victoria University's National Tertiary Education branch, talks about what the latest changes at the university mean for staff and working conditions. It was reported recently that VU will be going through another restructure, with big changes to the university's colleges, strategic direction, and more.
