Note: this episode was recorded in late November prior to the Juan Soto signing and Horwitz/Gimenez trade. To officially wrap up their 2024 recap series Justin and Patrick take a look at what happened with the Buffalo Bisons. The guys discuss Alan Roden, Will Robertson, Andrew Bash and Orelvis Martinez. Will Martinez and Roden make MLB impacts in 2025?
The broadcasters from the Buffalo Bisons, New Hampshire Fisher Cats, and Vancouver Canadians look back at the 2024 season in the Blue Jays minor league system. Pat Malacaro (triple-A Buffalo) leads off with host Tyler Zickel (high-A Vancouver) to talk about a Bisons season that did not turn out as expected, with the likes of Leo Jimenez and Addison Barger spending a lot of time in Toronto with the big league team, Orelvis Martinez serving a big part of the season on suspension, and pitchers Ricky Tiedemann and Chad Dallas finding themselves on the injured list. This forced the Bisons to adopt the "next-man-up mentality", exemplified by Alan Roden who struggled after being promoted from double-A before finishing very strong. Andrew Bash and Paxton Schultz solidified the Bisons' pitching, Will Robertson had a strong finish to a good bounceback year, and Payton Henry became a hero coming back from a horrific head injury, hearing loss, and the death of his brother. The 20th season of Fisher Cats baseball did not turn out the way the team wanted; however, Chris Jared and Bob Lipman (double-A New Hampshire) are excited about the return of some of the team and players coming up from Vancouver in 2025. Alan Roden and Josh Kasevich were noted as having made a huge impact at the level before their promotions to Buffalo, RJ Schreck, Charles McAdoo, and Yohendrick Pinango were fun to watch after their acquisitions at the trade deadline, former water polo player Johnathan Lavallee just shoved for the team down the stretch, and Eric Pardinho, who has lost the top-prospect shine, was a dominant reliever at double-A. Tyler and broadcasting partner Chris Georges (high-A Vancouver) were sad to see the Canadians' season ending with a walkoff hit-by-pitch in the Northwest League Championship, but they were proud to see the team keeping the series with the Spokane Indians relatively close given that Vancouver was 8-20 against that team during the regular season. Jace Bohrofen took a couple of months to adjust to professional baseball, but then blew up in the second half, including August in which he OPSed 1.055. After being signed out of independent baseball, Je'Von Ward made a big impact both at the plate and in the outfield for the C's, Jackson Hornung continued to hit all year despite his transition from catcher to first base to outfield, and Peyton Williams may have been too good for high-A. On the mound, Kendry Rojas and Lazaro Estrada were spicy punches, and Ryan Jennings' stuff and dumpster were things to behold. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In a recent interview with Joe Biden, he was asked if his mental faculties were up to the task of being president. In typical Biden fashion, he responded, “watch me.” Mr. Biden then immediately proceeded to spend the next minute being unable to finish a sentence. Our president is unable to form full sentences, and that's a problem. From 2020: Bob Enyart continues to air audio from last week from Greg Koulk, apologist president of Stand to Reason, who tragically denies, and thus defends, his moral relativism. Back in 2007 (see kgov.com/koukl) Greg encouraged Christians to support Republican candidates who are mass-murderers (by their open support for abortion). And still in 2020, he openly exhibits his own moral relativism as in his claim, though with clarification, that "some same sex couples are fabulous." And by that, he means, fabulous parents who we can support even in adopting children. Bob let Greg know that we planned to air and discuss his audio and Koukl did reply, but with the same defense he made years ago. "We report. You decide?" No. Actually, God decides. * BEL Resources on Moral Relativism: - 2020 Apologist Koukl Still Tragically Denies His Moral Relativism - 2020 Koukl BELs 7/21 (today's program) 7/29 8/3 - 2010 Personhood, Creation, the Law, and Moral Relativism - Suggest other BEL resources to us at Bob@kgov.com. As quoted there, Greg Koukl had written that science "cannot be certain about anything in an absolute sense. ...its method never allows certainty" and then apparently contradictorily, Greg stated, "science is not the only means of giving us true information..." Consider this excerpt: ...it is said that science cannot “prove” anything. We allege that in this vein, creationists have surrendered far too much to atheistic relativists. As a corollary, to this, we hear that science cannot prove anything but it can only disprove things. Sources: 1. A theory can "never [be] proven correct" on PBS.org; "can never be shown to be correct" at gsu.edu; 2. UCMP at the Berkeley department of paleontology. 3. A popular creationist homeschool textbook says, "Science cannot prove anything. The best science can say is that all known data support a given statement. …there is no way that science can prove anything." Wile & Durnell, Exploring Creation with Biology, 2nd Edition, 2005, p. 33; Science, "cannot be certain about anything in an absolute sense. ...its method never allows certainty" and then perhaps contradictorily, "science is not the only means of giving us true information..." Greg Koukl, Stand to Reason, 2013; "all scientific knowledge is tentative… nothing is final. There is no such thing as final proven knowledge in science" at psychologytoday.com. Scientific Absolutes: The claim that science cannot absolutely prove anything is related to the more extreme and easily falsified atheist claim that there is no truth. Yes, we Christians take the Scriptures as our highest authority. But millions of people lived prior to Moses and Job, and it is not as though they had no ability to know truth. (They could even know God, as a number of them did, and God is truth.) There are various ways of obtaining or possessing apodictic, or absolute, knowledge. Consider the common claim, as in this quote from Berkeley, that "a hypothesis cannot ever be proven, only disproven." Has that been proven? To disprove a hypothesis is to prove its negation. (A hypothesis: The reason that even very large array telescopes will never find the center of the universe is because the universe has no center. Falsification: A theoretical falsification is the growing redshift data that increasingly indicates that the universe does have a center. Disproving that hypothesis proves another: The universe has a center.)Absolutes vs. Omniscience: Knowing some things absolutely does not equate to knowing everything. Could it be that the especially extreme claim that science "cannot prove anything" is really just unintentional hyperbole? Those making such claims seem to confuse something with everything, and therefore confuse our ability to know some things absolutely with our inability to know everything. Some claim that the best that scientific investigation can do is to bring you closer to the truth (i.e., closer to understanding reality). However, if science doesn't know absolutely that: - light travels faster than sound, nor that - the solar surface is hotter than the lunar, nor that - electromagnetic opposites attract, if it were that much in the dark, then science could not bring anyone "closer" to anything. However, science does know these things absolutely. When some argue that science cannot tell us anything, it seems that what they really mean is that science cannot make us omniscient. If that's what they mean, though, then that is what they should say; for the overstatement we hear only serves to promote the relativism of materialism. Lacking omniscience does not prove the lack of all knowledge. RSR hopes that creationists will realize that they have been unnecessarily agreeing with atheists by making such an extreme claim. Real Science Radio has other disagreements with creationists on such assumptions, but for now we'll add one last observation, and then let these suffice as our first shot across the bow. :) We see the matter of historical vs. observational science as mostly a manufactured issue. We do not only make careful observations and do repeated experiments in the laboratory. Human beings live that same way. We cook, work, and read while making careful observations and performing inherent repeated experiments. In a dream, every time we read a book the words can change; in the waking world, we know that the words on our printed pages do not rearrange themselves into varying messages. That alone is a form of absolute scientific knowledge. If we didn't know that, we couldn't trust the words we read in a book, whether a dictionary or the Bible. Claiming that science can tell us nothing absolute is tantamount to saying that we can have no trust in our minds, nor our senses, and if this were true, of course we would have no ability to trust any input, whether from the Bible, or, like ourselves and the millions who lived prior to the Scriptures, from any source whatsoever. We assert that the claims of the impossibility of certain scientific knowledge are concessions to the relativism of the materialist.
The Conclusion. Ten thousand Christians have echoed the "nicer than God" warning during the quarter-century of BEL broadcasting. Google: nicer than God, to find Bob Enyart's article (and seminar) as the #1 ranked resource teaching on that theme. At kgov.com/nice we learn that Christians today are nicer than God and that the Church has a standard of niceness that Jesus failed to reach while on earth. Comparing God's attitude and behavior with that of the Church today shows that believers are far more polite, tolerant, understanding and respectful to the wicked than God is and than were His servants in both the Old and New Testaments. *Today we present the return of a classic show. Bob Enyart builds on last week's intro to our 2021 presentation of Nicer than God and promos the next few scheduled Real Science Radio programs including this week's interview of molecular biologist Dr. Kevin Anderson on both the covid and on RNA vaccines, next week's interview with Alan Bunning who has wrested the cutting edge of New Testament textual analysis away from unbelievers, and following that, an interview with Mark Armitage, the scientist who's published again in a prestigious peer-reviewed science journal yet another discovery of dinosaur soft tissue (as at bflist.rsr.org). * This Just in from an Ex-gay: After Bob mentioned on yesterday's program that homosexuals do reproduce sexually, by molesting children, we received this sad but at the same time, celebratory message from Jonah Weller... I was recruited into the 'gay' life by an older man when I was seventeen. I was homosexual with my piano teacher for nine years, and thought I should have been a girl. Now, here in Oregon, (even though I was 'raped') if I refused to play love songs for a gay wedding, I would be breaking the law! This is against my rights as a Christian. It is not 'equality,' but homosexual supremacy! They are not persecuted! There are many like me who were feminine and gay, but Jesus changed my life. I am much happier now, even though people 'discriminate' against me! God bless you. Keep up the good work Bob. Honesty set me free! Poor guy. Here at BEL we've been kgov.com/dissed quite a bit, by the best of 'em. But Arthur's REALLY been dissed, and canceled! Almost like he doesn't even exist. Today's Resource: Nicer Than God Enjoy this fast-paced critique of religion where Bob Enyart presents questions such as: When should a Christian lie? Should he ever mock? How about name-calling? Does sarcasm belong in the Christian’s repertoire? How about ridicule? Learn why nice is not in the Bible and how to identify a Nicer-Than-God Christian. If Christians are not supposed to judge, then why does Jesus command us to judge rightly? And if only God will judge, then why does Paul say that we believers will judge the angels, and judge the world? If Jesus logged onto a website forum under a pseudonym, would we recognize Him, or condemn Him? This album communicates well Bob Enyart’s unique style. We had the pleasure of interviewing Eliot Bronson over Zoom video!Over the course of five albums, indie folksinger Eliot Bronson has created his own brand of acclaimed Americana. He's an award winner. A road warrior. An internationally-renowned musician with a voice that swoons and sweeps, making fans out of everyone from his hometown newspaper, The Baltimore Sun — who championed Bronson from the very start, hailing him as "a folk singing wunderkind" back when he was still playing local coffeeshops — to Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb, whose work on 2014's Eliot Bronson and 2017's James placed Bronson on the same client roster as Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton, and other heartfelt songwriters. Bronson turns a new page with Empty Spaces. Written during a period of tumult — including the breakup of a 10-year relationship, the end of an engagement, and a move from his adopted home of Atlanta to his current headquarters in Nashville — it's an album about loss, redemption, the places we leave, and the homes we make for ourselves. More importantly, it's an album about starting again. Like the soundtrack to a rainy day whose skies steadily give way to sunshine, the music itself is gorgeous and moodily atmospheric, splashed with watercolor streaks of electric guitar, vocal harmonies, strings, Mellotron, and Bronson's sharpest songwriting to date.Ever since his teenage years in working-class Baltimore, music has been a source of therapy for Bronson. Back then, he felt like a prisoner in his own home — a home filled with volatility and unpredictability, overseen by parents whose identities were equally (and, perhaps, paradoxically) informed by the Church and 1960s counterculture. Outside the front door loomed the Pentecostal Church where his father and grandfather once preached to congregants who spoke in tongues. It was an odd refuge for a child, and Bronson found his own sort of escape in his father's record collection, drawn to LPs by Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, and the trailblazing blues duo of Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry. Inspired, he began writing his own music as a teenager, eventually those songwriting skills into a career — and, with it, a ticket out of town. Relocating to Atlanta, he found a regional audience as a member of popular folk-rock duo The Brilliant Inventions and became a regular performer at Eddie's Attic, where acts like John Mayer and the Indigo Girls once honed their own craft. His subsequent solo career attracted even more attention, not to mention high-profile awards like a first-place finish in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest. When a longtime relationship with his fiancé came to a halt, though, Bronson found himself leaning upon songwriting once again — not only for a living, but also for personal stability. "I began writing the kind of songs I needed to hear," he explains. "Empty Spaces was the best healing work I could've ever done. I had a weird, challenging childhood, and I originally turned to music because I didn't have anywhere else to go in the house, physically. I made my own little world that made me feel safe and understood. This time, I really needed to find that space again and come full-circle. I made this record for the same reason that I wrote my first song. It wasn't for anybody else; it was for me. Hearing the right words at the right moment can be the most magical elixir you can possibly take. It can heal you."To fully heal, though, Bronson needed to make some changes. He left Atlanta and moved to Nashville. He made the conscious decision to escape the shadow of his influences, too, writing a new batch of songs that sounded not like Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, or Tom Waits, but like Eliot Bronson. He sank more time into his daily meditation practice, allowing creativity to enter his life in waves. And after recording his two previous albums with renowned producer Dave Cobb, he also decided to co-produce the new record with longtime bandmate Will Robertson, setting up in Robertson's basement studio and tracking Empty Spaces' 10 songs in a series of live, full-band performances. The result? An album that's emotive, pensive, melancholy, and wholly moving. This isn't just a record about empty spaces, after all. It's a record about the new discoveries that can fill that emptiness. Bronson stacks his voice into layers of harmony on the breezy, beautiful "Good For You," a song that pines for a distant lover who's moved across the country. Songs like the Lyle Lovett-worthy "She Loves the Mountains" and "Montana" address that physical divide, too, with Bronson — who calls the latter track "a 'Jolene' song, directed at a state rather than a person" — both scolding and singing the praises of a place whose beauty has stolen his partner's affection. During the album's opener, "Visitor," his melodies melt into a woozy landscape of acoustic guitar and pedal steel, while the anthemic "With Somebody" finds him mixing his folk roots with epic bursts of heartland pop/rock. Perhaps nowhere is Empty Space's unique punch better delivered than on the title track, where Bronson sings about coming to terms with the void left by his ex's departure. It's a breakup song for realists — a song that neither wallows in its own misery nor celebrates a sense of newfound freedom. Instead, Bronson sings about the complicated feelings that exist somewhere between those two polarities, painting his song not with black-and-white extremes, but with greyscale colors that are far more relatable. "I can't tell if it's a sad song or if it's a hopeful song," he admits. "I really like it that way, because that's life — we rarely have simple, unmixed feelings about anything. Being able to find those weird places where those emotions mix together, and express them, is exciting to me. It gives language to things that are universal. We don't have a word for that color or that emotion, but it exists, and by pointing it out, it gives you permission to feel it."We want to hear from you! Bob Enyart interviews Bevelyn Beatty after NYC police arrested her and her ministry accomplice Edmee Chavannes, for protesting at a Manhattan abortion mill just a mile from where the same week the liberal media promoted mass protests and even defended rioting. Then a viral video presented the ladies preaching as foreign missionaries in Seattle's Province of Chaz. The gals' founded At the Well Ministries to share Jesus, one city at a time! And they're doing it! Bob plays a bit of audio from BEL in 2018 when he met Bevelyn at Denver's abortuary and the two discuss the role of Ken and Jo Scott in mentoring and training this dynamic duo of Bevelyn and Edmee! * Liberals HATE Anti-Communists: Hollywood, Hillary, Homosexuals, Humanists, Hillary (did I say Hillary?), et al., HATE anti-communists like Sen. Joe McCarthy, the John Birch Society, and the House Un-American Activities Committee, even though none of these have ever murdered anyone, whereas the left has always had a soft spot in their hearts for the godless communist Soviet Union that killed about twenty million people, until... * Murdering Millions or Losing an Election? Which is the last straw for Democrats? As long as the former Soviet Union was only guilty of murdering millions of their own people (via democide), leftists had a warm place in their heart for Russia. But let them imagine the Russians tilting one election, and their disapproval rages. Ironically, the actual Russia campaign collusion was when the DNC and Hillary Clinton paid millions for a foreign spy to collect anonymous Russian disinformation in hopes the dossier would interfere with the election. Thus the New York Times won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction by ignoring the real ones and connecting dots that never actually connected. See this also at kgov.com/russia. Hear from CNN's Dawn Lemon and from Morgan Freeman, Li'l Wayne, David Webb, Terrence Floyd, and others. * Barr on Coup: First though hear a very quick clip of A.G. Bob Barr succinctly admitting that the Obama administration officials were attempting a coup to illegally depose a U.S. president. * Fake News on "Spike" in "Cases": Bob reports on the media's COVID Fake News which includes every headline of an "Increase" or "Spike" in coronavirus "cases" that does not put the results within the context of increased testing. Fake, for example, would be counting someone who tests positive for HIV but does not have AIDS symptoms as another "AIDS" case. There's an enormous difference between having the virus and having the disease. To report what's actually happening while minimizing confusion the media should focus on death, which, of all the various coronavirus statistics provides the greatest big-picture insight. See the six weeks worth of steadily declining U.S. Covid Deaths in the chart (right) and consider this accurate headline from yesterday: COVID-19 cases rise as hospitalizations remain low in Colorado.
