Today on Window Treatments for Profit This is the final episode of the series. And it is the one LuAnn has been building toward the whole time. Because saying no to the wrong opportunity is the hardest decision in intentional growth. Not the no that is obvious. The no that looks like revenue. The no that comes with a relationship attached. The no that arrives during a slow month when every rational instinct says yes. In this episode, LuAnn shares a real text exchange that happened this week between an EW member and a designer who wanted to know her discount on a Hunter Douglas house. She walks through exactly what the EW member said back, why that response was not a closed door but a defined one, and what happens next that tells you everything you need to know about whether the relationship is worth pursuing. She also addresses directly the danger of using not our client as a lazy conclusion instead of an earned one, and explains the distinction between skilled disqualification and face-value dismissal. And she introduces a phrase she uses when speaking live: legalized money laundering. The business that looks busy, feels productive, generates real revenue, and still has nothing left at the end of the year because the model was never protected. This episode is for any window treatment business owner who has ever taken work they should not have because the alternative felt worse. And for any owner who is ready to stop building a treadmill and start building a business that creates wealth. WWLD: Volume or Value? Today on Window Treatments for Profit You already know what your bottleneck is. You have known for months. Possibly longer. And every week it costs you time, energy, and profit while you wait for the right moment to fix it. In this episode, LuAnn Nigara names the real reason operational bottlenecks stay in place long after the owner has identified them. It is not a systems problem. It is a thinking pattern. And it has the same root cause whether you are a solo owner doing everything yourself or running a team of ten. LuAnn shares a phrase she coined twenty-five years ago, Architectural Digest isn't coming, and explains how she used it with clients who were spinning on decisions that did not need to be that hard. Then she turns it directly on the owner who has been waiting for the perfect solution, the perfect system, the perfect moment to fix the thing they already know needs fixing. You will also hear a specific, common example of this pattern that applies to every size business: the meeting you stopped having because it felt redundant, and what it actually cost you when you did. This episode is for any window treatment business owner who has been circling the same operational problem for too long and needs someone to say: you already have the answer. It is time to move. Today on Window Treatments for Profit You built the roles. You wrote the expectations. You had the conversations. And somehow everything still routes back to you. In this episode, LuAnn Nigara names the pattern underneath that dynamic, and it has nothing to do with your systems. It starts with a dishwasher. It ends with a hire LuAnn made twenty years ago that changed everything about how she thinks about building a team. The woman she hired fresh out of college, Kim, turned out to be better than LuAnn at fabric selection, design ideas, and technical product knowledge. And instead of correcting her back toward her own version, LuAnn said so out loud. Fifteen years later she was able to step out of Window Works when she wanted to. Kim is now a partner in the business. This episode is about the shift that actually breaks the pattern of everything routing back to you. Not a framework. Not a meeting. The moment you look at someone on your team and say out loud: you are better at this than I am. I want you to own it. And it is about the pattern that prevents that moment from ever happening: the silent redo, the quiet correction, the message your team receives without you ever saying a word. Today on Window Treatments for Profit In January, LuAnn gave you the system. The problems-to-be-resolved file. One owner per issue. Consistent communication until the loop is closed. That system works. But only if something else is already in place before the problem arrives. In this episode, LuAnn tells the story of a $15,000 shutter mistake in South Orange, New Jersey, and what her partner Bill did in the moment that turned a costly error into four more rooms of business and a client who trusted Window Works more after the problem than before it. The reason Bill could walk straight into that hard conversation without calling anyone is the lesson. Not the system. The standard that existed before the pressure arrived. LuAnn also turns the mirror directly on the listener. She cannot give you a Window Works story of what happens when you avoid the hard thing, because Window Works did not do that. But you may have that story. And this episode will help you see exactly what it cost you, and what to do so it does not cost you again. This episode is for any window treatment business owner who has ever delayed a hard client conversation and watched a small problem become an expensive one. Today on Window Treatments for Profit You already know you should price for profit. You made that decision. This episode is about what happens in the three seconds after a client you actually care about says: that is more than I expected. In the first episode of her new five-part series, LuAnn Nigara goes somewhere most sales training never goes. Not to the script. To what happens inside you first. The clenching. The impulse that sounds like they do not think I am worth it. And why that impulse, if you do not understand it, will cost you the sale and the margin before you say a single word. She introduces the two-word mechanism she has taught for decades in EW sales trainings and with her Chairman of the Board clients: based on what. And she explains exactly why it works, what it reveals, and how it gives you the breath you need to stay in the conversation instead of scrambling out of it. She also tells the story of a thirty-year client, a wedding, six weeks of delay, and a rush charge that added five thousand dollars to a quote. And what happened when she held the line anyway. This episode is for any window treatment business owner who has ever felt their stomach clench when a client questioned their price. And for any owner who wants to stop taking that personally and start handling it professionally. Today on Window Treatments for Profit This is the fifth and final episode in our WWLD January series:Five Decisions That Change Profit, Time, and Control in Your Window Treatment Business. In this episode, LuAnn Nigara tackles the most overlooked leadership decision of all:What are you intentionally building? After walking through four foundational decisions around profit, leadership, team stability, and operational clarity, this final conversation zooms out to address direction. Because once your business becomes more stable and less reactive, the real danger is no longer chaos. It's drift. In Grow Intentionally, Not Accidentally, LuAnn unpacks how smart, capable business owners end up overwhelmed not because they made bad decisions, but because they let momentum decide for them. You'll hear: Why growth on its own is not a strategy How accidental growth quietly erodes profit, standards, and culture Why “saying yes” often feels responsible but costs more than you realize The identity-level questions every owner must answer to grow on purpose Practical action steps to break the cycle of reaction and lead intentionally LuAnn also references her earlier solo episode, WWLD Episode #337: Volume or Value, for listeners who want to go deeper into the tension between different growth models and how easily businesses drift between them without realizing it. This episode is not about growing faster. It's about growing with clarity. Or deciding not to grow at all. Either way, it's a decision. Listen in and bring the WWLD series full circle. Today on Window Treatments for Profit Hiring is exhausting.Training is expensive. And losing good people doesn't set you back weeks. It sets you back months. In this episode of Window Treatments for Profit, we're continuing our January WWLD series with Decision #3: Stabilize Your Team So You're Not Constantly Starting Over. If you feel like you're always retraining adults on the basics, this episode will challenge a hard truth: the issue usually isn't effort. It's leadership and systems. We talk about why retention has very little to do with perks and everything to do with expectations, standards, and clarity. You'll hear why chaos drives good employees away faster than money, and how strong leadership creates teams that step up, protect your reputation, and carry the business forward even when you're not in the room. This episode is for experienced owners who want: Fewer mistakes and less rework A team that understands the big picture Stability that holds up during busy seasons and hard moments Leadership systems that work week after week, not just during reviews This isn't about being nicer. It's about being clearer. And it's one of the most overlooked decisions that changes profit, time, and control in your business. Shorten response time so problems don't linger. Unresolved issues don't just disappear. They get heavier. And the longer they sit, the more they cost you. In this episode, LuAnn explains why slow response times turn otherwise manageable problems into trust-breakers, how businesses unintentionally train themselves to be reactive instead of professional, and why silence is never neutral in the eyes of your customer. You'll also learn three practical action steps to help you: Prevent problems from falling through the cracks Assign clear ownership instead of relying on memory Close the communication loop so customers feel informed, not ignored LuAnn shares real-world lessons from Window Works, including why some of her most loyal and referral-heavy clients were ones where something initially went wrong — and how fast, consistent follow-through made all the difference. This episode is not about perfection. It's about intention, clarity, and leadership. And it's one of the fastest ways to protect both your profit and your sanity.
