From Wednesday on the Chris Hand Show | Aired on May 7, 2025----- The new Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney comes to the White House to meet with President Trump to talk future plans for working together and more.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this episode of The Daily Herold, Jon Herold recaps a jam-packed day of headlines and speculation centered around Prime Minister Mark Carney's visit to the White House. Trump steals the show with fiery commentary on U.S.-Canada trade relations, poking fun at Carney while floating the idea of Canada becoming the 51st state, complete with “free military” and lower taxes. Jon also highlights the power imbalance in global trade as Trump asserts America no longer needs to sign deals, it simply sets terms. Major foreign policy updates include Trump's announcement that the Houthis have agreed to cease attacks, prompting a pause in U.S. bombings, and a teaser for a “major” announcement from the Middle East, possibly hinting at new Abraham Accords signatories. Domestically, Trump signed an executive order halting all federal funding for gain-of-function research, citing public health and national security risks. Jon also critiques the politicization of gas prices, election rulings in North Carolina, and the resurfacing of the 2017 congressional baseball shooting. He covers economic threats from Japan over U.S. Treasuries, the media's racial framing of tariffs, and a bombshell lawsuit from Stephen Miller's AFL targeting Chief Justice Roberts. From foreign policy to financial maneuvering, Herold delivers a rapid-fire, no-nonsense rundown of the day's most pressing stories.
Torrey goes through a newly released audit of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services, and discusses the key findings. Trump meets with the Canada PM and discusses remarks about Canada statehood. An odd ATC outage at the Newark airport.

President Trump discusses economic uncertainty concerns amid battle over tariffs. Also, Kristen Welker on her one-on-one interview with President Trump. Plus, the latest details on the upcoming papal conclave. And, Mike Tirico speaks out after health scare at the Kentucky Derby.
It's another chaotic day in the news cycle, and we're breaking it all down. First up: Trump's interview with Kristen Welker, where he served up a fresh batch of lies, deflections, and victimhood, and then cried “unfair” the moment she pushed back with facts. (We've seen this movie before. It never gets better.) Then we head to Georgia, where Governor Brian Kemp just announced he's not running for Senate, potentially clearing the way for a possible run by none other than Marjorie Taylor Greene. Because apparently we're trying to hit that “worst-case scenario.” And finally, we'll cover the latest in the Diddy case, where jury selection has officially begun in what's shaping up to be one of the most high-profile and controversial trials of the year. Politics, ego, and celebrity scandal...welcome to a typical Monday in America.
In a wide ranging interview with NBC's Meet the Press, U.S. President Donald Trump once again repeated his threat of making Canada the 51st state - but ruled out using the military to do so. He also addressed his tariffs, and their blows to his country's economy - and whether he is serious about wanted a third term in the White House. Also: For people in the Netherlands, May 4th is a day to honour the soldiers and civilians killed in the Second World War. And on this Remembrance Day, the Dutch are saluting their Canadian comrades with a gathering today in Holten, where many Canadian soldiers are buried. And: Part of Pope Francis' legacy includes opening some doors for women to have roles in the Catholic church. But the most important doors remain shut. And there are questions about whether the next Pope will give more opportunities for Catholic women to have a seat at the table.Plus: The search for two missing children in Nova Scotia, Israel plans to further expand military operations in Gaza, and more.

Last night, Trump sat down with ABC's Terry Moran for what was supposed to be a presidential interview. What we got instead? A familiar blend of denial, deflection, and delusion. From flat-out lies to wild exaggerations, Trump steamrolled through reality...even when Moran tried to fact-check him (which, let's be honest, didn't happen nearly enough). The result? A chaotic mess that leaves us wondering: do facts even matter anymore? Don breaks down the most jaw-dropping moments, the missed opportunities, and the dangerous normalizing of nonsense from a man who still refuses to admit truth has consequences. It's not journalism's finest hour, but it's one we definitely need to talk about. This episode is sponsored by Shopify. Sign up for your one-dollar-per-month trial and start selling today at SHOPIFY. Jen Psaki breaks down the calculation behind Donald Trump's recent talk of an unconstitutional third term, which is just one of the many shiny objects he's dangled before the press corps to distract from the scandal of Signalgate. Congressman Dan Goldman joins Jen to discuss why Trump's musings about holding onto the White House beyond 2028 warrant our attention. Later Representative Jason Crow, a veteran and outspoken critic of Mike Waltz and Pete Hegseth's careless security breach puts our military in jeopardy. Jen also examines the elections in Wisconsin and Florida, focusing on what could be a seismic shift in voter sentiment in one House district in the Sunshine State, where Josh Weil is polling even with MAGA State Senator Randy Fine. Weil joins Jen to talk about his campaign in a race that's become a referendum on Donald Trump.
