The All Bodies. All Foods. podcast has been an invaluable resource for me in my work with the ED population. Hosted by Sam and Ashley, these two individuals are incredibly knowledgeable and informative, which has greatly contributed to a higher quality of care for my clients. The podcasts cover a wide range of topics related to eating disorders, including the different types of eating disorders, the treatment process, and recovery. I have listened to all the episodes and even gone back to review some of them. I am eagerly looking forward to upcoming episodes because this podcast is truly making a difference in the field.
One of the best aspects of The All Bodies. All Foods. podcast is how it breaks down complex information about eating disorders into easily digestible conversations. Sam and Ashley's passion for mental health shines through as they go beyond the therapy room to make topics like this more accessible. This podcast not only serves as a valuable resource for clinicians but also as a great conversation starter for loved ones who may be struggling with understanding or supporting someone with an eating disorder. It has helped me gain a greater understanding of my own experiences as well.
However, one area where I think this podcast can improve is in its coverage of different types of eating disorders. While there is extensive discussion about anorexia, it seems that there is less focus on other disorders such as bulimia, orthorexia, and binge eating disorder. It would be beneficial to normalize discussions about these conditions and provide more comprehensive insights into their treatment and recovery processes.
In conclusion, The All Bodies. All Foods. podcast is an exceptional resource for anyone interested in learning more about eating disorders or looking to deepen their knowledge in this field. Sam and Ashley's dedication to fostering understanding and improving access to mental health resources is evident throughout each episode. By continuing their great work, they are making a positive impact on individuals' lives who need support in navigating their journey towards recovery from eating disorders.

On this episode of All Bodies. All Foods., Ashley and Sam welcome guest Patrilie Hernandez to explore the eating disorder risk factor of food insecurity. According to the USDA, 13.5% of U.S. households reported experiencing food insecurity in 2023—a rise from 12.8% in 2022. Because food insecurity can contribute to the development of eating disorders, we felt it was essential to better understand this public health crisis in order to more effectively support those affected. It's important to recognize that individuals often do not have full control over whether they are food secure. Contributing factors can include income, access to community resources, housing location, knowledge of how to shop for and prepare food, and more. In this conversation, we unpack the systemic and personal contributors to food insecurity, how it intersects with eating disorders, and how individuals can advocate for and educate the systems around them. On this episode of All Bodies. All Foods., Ashley and Sam sit down with Laura Maalouf, a multifaceted individual who had previously battled Atypical Anorexia and recently published a self-help journal Not Sick Enough: Atypical Anorexia. Laura's story is one of frustration, resilience, and continued growth; her struggles were minimized, misunderstood, and misdiagnosed every time she reached out for help. Finally receiving the support and validation she had been longing for, she obtained the tools she needed and created a workbook to help others on the same road to recovery. Unfortunately, Laura's story is not uncommon. The medical, mental health, and dietetic fields have perpetuated the myth that only “underweight” bodies experience the symptoms of anorexia. In fact, Atypical Anorexia and Anorexia Nervosa share the same exact criteria with the only difference being “body size.” Even though these are technically different diagnoses, the physical and psychological consequences are just as serious.
