    157. How allyship is always a verb and allies do more with effective accountability with Teagan Robinson-Bell

How allyship is always a verb and allies do more with effective accountability with Teagan Robinson-Bell Today we have a returning guest on the show because she's just brilliant and I could talk to her all day about DEI, gender equity and inclusive cultures because it's her speciality! Teagan Robinson Bell has been Anchor's Diversity and Inclusion Manager since 2021 and has been with the housing association for nearly 6 years. She has led Anchor's inclusion agenda that supports colleagues with their career goals and personal development whilst being their authentic selves and supports residents to live lives that allow them to thrive in later life. Her ethos is that everyone's voice should be heard and that cognitive diversity allows organisations to provide great places to work and provides the best outcomes for customers. On the show today we are focusing on the importance of male allyship - the actual behaviour and difference that men can make in the workplace and beyond.  We chat about the things that can stop them doing more such as power imbalances in the workplace or this lack of self awareness about the privileges they hold. But ultimately if we can't focus on it being a moral obligation to challenge bias and discrimination - which we all hope would be the standard set, we can still link this to money and impacting the bottom line from a commercial point of view.  Listen in as Teagan shares some great advice and tips on how to deal with banter and how we can make sure that there is accountability for all allies especially those in more leadership positions. 152. Why I am talking more about men for this years International Women's Day

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 10, 2025 5:55

Why I am talking more about men for this years International Women's Day.   In all transparency, last IWD I wasn't thrilled at the prospect of celebrating another day filled with purple balloons, cupcakes and being told to hug ourselves.  The whole thing was starting to make me cringe.  How will all this smash the patriarchy? Now this sounds crazy to you and me both because I know how important days like this are for raising awareness - thats the whole point of awareness days / weeks / months, but that's just the thing - has it lost it's way? For me its about reminding everyone why it's still important to work on gender equity because we are still not there yet and the recent and some that seem neverending events around the world where by women and children are the ones really feeling the dire and often demoralising consequences are enough to make anyone think why bother? However this is exactly why we need to.  The time is NOW. There's a lot of despair in the world right now around women's rights and gender equity. I cannot believe what I am seeing.I feel like we are going backwards; although maybe this is what others want us to believe; in fact maybe it's just the opposite. This concerning pushback threatens bodily autonomy, sees increasing gender-based violence, and systemic barriers that hold women and marginalised communities back. So this moment is not just about defending progress; it's about driving change forward. And as change gains momentum so does pushback. And in Florence's words "It's always darkest before the dawn". And this is why I see the huge and powerful place for male allyship now more than ever.  Those men that get it.  Those men that can see the harmful impact that lack of inclusivity and equity has for women in the world.  I have started sharing male allies when I see them over on my insta stories @nomorehiningco and saving them in a highlight in case you ever need a reminder that they are out there.   Because that's the thing - No More Hiding isn't just about women being more visible, it's about everyone being more visible for the things that matter - speaking out and sharing their lived experiences and ideas about how we can be more inclusive and hear more perspectives around those decision making tables.  Thats how we make a difference and thats how change happens  So in this series we explore the crucial role male allies play in creating more equitable workplaces.  We'll dive into why male allyship is essential—not just for women's career progression, but for building healthier, more successful organizations overall. When we talk about workplace gender equality, the focus often falls on policies and initiatives. But true change doesn't happen without action—and that's where male allies come in. In this series, we'll unpack what real allyship looks like, why it's not enough to just “support” women behind the scenes, and how visibility and advocacy from men can make all the difference. Throughout the series, we'll be joined by industry leaders, workplace culture experts, and professionals who have firsthand experience with allyship in action. We'll explore the challenges, the impact, and the simple yet powerful ways men can step up in their workplaces. From amplifying women's voices in meetings to actively advocating for equal opportunities, we'll break down what meaningful allyship looks like—and why it benefits everyone. I saw a quote that struck a chord with me from Lilly tomlin and she said “ I always wondered why somebody doesn't do something about that..theh I realised I was somebody” So, if you're ready to learn, challenge assumptions, and take action, you're in the right place. -------------- Book a chat with Gemma - This is the place to book a call to see how Gemma can help you or your company support female leaders to raise their profile, increase performance and visibility and build more allies.   Get the White Paper > ‘Visibility at Work: The Importance of Self Promotion for Women's Career Progression   I want to hear from YOU so get in touch with me:   Connect with your host Gemma Stow: Website: https://www.gemmastow.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemmastow/ LinkedIn: Business Page https://www.linkedin.com/company/no-more-hiding/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomorehidingco Blue Sky: https://bsky.app/profile/gemmastow.bsky.social

How to make sure women in midlife get the recognition they deserve with Nina Evison   Today we have our last but by no means least conversation with a fabulous woman to finish up this mini series all about the importance if visible leadership for women in housing and finishing off with a bang all about whether women in or approaching midlife and also the impact of menopause can affect visibility.   Nina Evison is an experienced senior leader with over 20 years' experience of driving strategy, culture change and performance in the housing, manufacturing and utilities sectors. Since joining Yorkshire Housing in September 2019, she has helped the organisation to transform and become known for challenging out-dated and traditional approaches to the world of work. Nina is passionate about creating environments where people are trusted and empowered to do their best work for their customers, removing the cultural and process barriers that get in the way.   As a female leader who began her own people management journey at the tender age of 23, Nina's personal experiences have influenced her passion for creating inclusive workplaces, spotting and developing talent and championing women and diversity in leadership roles.   This is a great conversation where we discuss the changes and barriers that can come in midlife for women and how this can impact career progression and visibility but more importantly how this precious time in life actually brings wisdom, experience and prime time career opportunities that women can embrace.  Turning negatives into positives - listen in and let us know whether you can relate to any of the topics discussed!   -------------------- We have recently finished the RiSE for Visible Leadership April cohort coaching programme which had ambitious women from different Housing Associations and they have been taking actions they never dreamed they would in terms of visibility and self promotion - it's a win win for both them and their organisation!   The following episodes are exploring the importance of visible leadership in housing for women's progression.  Tune in and let us know you what you think! How do you know if you need a female focused leadership development programme with Alex Greenwood.   Today we are talking about those leadership development programmes that are designed to help high performers learn the skills and strategies to further their career and be the best leader they can be.  The main topic of this discussion today is whether we really need these types of programmes that are for women only? You can probably guess my own personal opinion on this topic seen as though I have my RiSE group programme for visible leadership which I have been running internally for many organisations including housing and we now offer this as a collaboration for different housing associations to come together and share a group so that women are already networking across their sector before we've been got to the visibility and networking techniques! It's really great and I love love facilitating it - I think for me the best bit is when I see the women grow.  They grow in themselves, in their confidence but also in how they recognise their strengths and that its ok to show others what they are capable of! The absolute impact and influence that ambitious women can have in organisations is pretty off the charts when they are given the opportunity to shine and rise! So what better person to talk to about these types of leadership development programmes than the incredible Alex Greenwood who I have known for a good number of years now.   Alex started her career working within sport and hospitality in operational roles. She then moved into the HR profession and has over 20 years experience. She has progressed her career into senior HR roles working within different industries / sectors. She has been accountable for the full people infrastructure within SME Businesses and has a breadth of knowledge within the HR space.   We would love to hear from you and your ideas or experience on the ideas we discuss on today's show - come and connect with us both over on Linkedin and drop us a message or even better share this episode and get others talking about this all important topic! Why visible leadership should be a priority for women in housing! Today I am letting you know about something exciting we have coming up - its a new mini series I have pulled together with some incredible guests.  Its been a while since I was in your ears and I am always so grateful to get messages of how people have only just found the podcast and are binge listening to my episodes - it blows me away because I have been doing this podcast for a long time now and although I am not as regular as I used to be on our weekly get togethers I do still enjoy being here with you so much! We have recently finished the RiSE for Visible Leadership April cohort coaching programme which had ambitious women from different Housing Associations and they have been taking actions they never dreamed they would in terms of visibility and self promotion - it's a win win for both them and their organisation!   The following episodes are exploring the importance of visible leadership in housing for women's progression.  Tune in and let us know you what you think! There are 4 women in this mini series you can get to know better;   Ep 149 with Sarah Roxby, Executive Director for Housing from WDH Ep 148 with Teagan Robinson, Diveristy and Inclusion Manager from Anchor  Ep 150 with Alex Greenwood, Senior People Business Partner from Places for People  Ep 151 with Nina Evison,  Executive Director Culture & Perfromance from Yorkshire Housing    What is RiSE for Women in Housing? The housing association collaborative RiSE programme for visible leadership has a proven success rate previously internally in housing associations and it helps support women to own their expertise, identify barriers for self promotion and increase their visibility so that they can develop their career progression within the company. The impact of the programme for housing associations include: Increased retention of top female talent Promotions of more women into senior roles Reduction in the gender pay gap Pro active employees ready to take on new opportunities Talented employees who feel confident to speak up and share opinions and ideas in meetings More female role models who showcase their own achievements and are not backing away from self promotion Committed and motivated staff who want to progress their careers at their company Increased business opportunities from women getting more involved in networking to promote their company and its values. Some HAs have found the programme so successful that they have us facilitate internal cohorts every year.    If you can think of women in your organisation who are struggling to own and showcase their experience, are not taking control over their career or are avoiding next level opportunities and you'd like to discuss putting them into RiSE to help them achieve their potential, reduce recruitment costs and attrition then get in touch - email me at gemma@nomorehiding.co or direct message me in LinkedIn. Why being vulnerable is absolutely a strength #Takeaways The power of being an authentic role model that inspires Companies can do more to create a safe space for women from all levels to share stories and experiences Leaders hold back from always sharing because they feel like they need to protect others Peer groups and women's networks are key to shifting the company culture. Women can have it all - when they figure out what their all is Surround yourself with different people so you can open your mind   Even though this episode was recorded almost two years ago to the day we couldn't resist including it with all of the other inspiring re-releases we have shared again with you!  This episode we have the super inspiring Zandra Moore on the show.  Zandra is CEO and Co-Founder of Panintelligence Data Analytics Software Business in Leeds and Founder of LeanIn Leeds 800+ women's leadership network, mum to 2 and football coach to twenty, 15 year old girls.   When you meet Zandra you cannot help but be inspired by her.  And that's exactly how I felt a number of years ago.  I am really excited to have her on the show as she doesn't hold back.   She is open and willing to talk about things that sometimes female leaders don't often talk about.  Women often have to work so hard in their careers that being vulnerable when you are in a senior positions can be difficult.  Although vulnerability is absolutely a strength it's not always viewed that way by others.  So many women are inspired by those around them but have often told me that they can't ever reach those heights.  Seeing successful career women as ‘superwomen' or having to make huge sacrifices in their lives to get to where they want to be.   Isn't it time we start breaking down these barriers to show what the reality is and that if women want it all they have to figure out what their ‘all' looks like and that anything is possible for them.   “ It's had it's hurdles, of course it has it's never been plain sailing, but when I look back at why I have been able to persist and overcome those hurdles, I had the benefit of somebody from a very young age that made me believe that anything was possible”         - Zandra “ It's addictive...the more you do for others the more these things walk towards you..givers gain “ - Zandra “You don't have to be an expert in something to be able to add value or change things or inspire others“ - Zandra “I want women to hear that message that you don't have to know everything to get ahead” - Gemma “People just present the good, they never present the bad.  It's never easy in any role whatever level you are at and it doesn't change whether you are a graduate or a CEO” - Zandra “There's such power in the ‘me too' element of safe spaces and that association with each other” - Gemma #Resources Get my NEWSLETTER that shares the latest around the gender pay gap, book recommendations and good practices that are happening all over the place that support more women to step up and be recognised for the value they bring.    Get yours by clicking >> https://www.gemmastow.com/newsletter “5 Steps to being more visible at work”    https://www.gemmastow.com/5-ways-to-be-more-visible-at-work Get the White Paper ‘Visibility at Work: The Importance of Self Promotion for Women's Career Progression:   https://bit.ly/WP2020podcast   Book a call with Gemma:    http://bit.ly/CallGemmaPodcast   Connect with your host Gemma Stow: Website: https://www.gemmastow.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemmastow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/gemmastow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomorehidingco   Connect with Zandra: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/zandramoore/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/zandramoore Website: www.panintelligence.com

How do you know when it is the right time to lean in? This is such a great episode that we wanted to share it again!  Since recording this Kat has progressed her career in so many incredible ways! Go check her out over on LinkedIn and connect with her right here >> https://www.linkedin.com/in/katwellum-kent/ #Takeaways Finding your own way of leadership really works How to start making those steps and the importance of building habits with self promotion How to notice if you are playing small through use of your own language The benefits of having an external coach How to showcase yourself rather than sell yourself   On today's show we are thinking about how you know when it is the right time to lean in?  And what I mean by that is starting to think differently about your career progression, how you stand apart and building a self promotion strategy that gets you the results you REALLY want.   As a previous client of mine Kat and I were recently reviewing how far she has come by getting clear on what she wants and the impact that being more visible can have for her own ambitions and those around her.  Kathryn is a shining example of a woman who has definitely leaned in to owning who she is and the results speak for themselves.   Guest: Kathryn Wellum-Kent is an accountant and business advisor working for MHA Monahans, one of the leading professional services firms in the South West, after spending the first 16 years of her career working at Deloitte.  She is passionate about working with start-up and scale-up companies that have big ambitions, and need support to achieve these, with particular focus on capturing & interpreting financial information needed for their business planning & decision making. Beyond that though, Kathryn has a strong vision of how the industry needs to change to better support its clients, its staff and the wider community and is using her current role and her network to drive change and challenge traditional thinking. This work was recognised through being named one of the top 50 women in accounting in 2021. She has also recently taken on the role of finance trustee at a charity based in Swindon called Inner Flame, which is working to support 16-25s not currently in education, employment or training who are experiencing barriers to independence or contributing to their community.   “An important part of leadership is finding your way of doing things rather than trying to be something else” Kathryn “We have habits that don't often serve us and can be connected to staying small” Gemma “You've got habits and you don't even realise you are doing them” - Kathryn “I stopped cutting my legs off before I had even started” - Kathryn “I really wanted to work with someone who could work with me to help me understand some of the things that were holding me back and achieve what I wanted to in my career” - Kathryn “All the things that we have worked on together have helped me talk about myself in a very authentic and open way” - Kathryn “I'm not the kind of person who can sell; I don't want to feel like i'm selling myself, selling my company - I just want to show people about me and what I am doing and I feel like that should speak for itself” - Kathryn “You don't have to throw yourself in the deep end it's about building up these things gradually” - Gemma   Get the White Paper ‘Visibility at Work: The Importance of Self Promotion for Women's Career Progression https://bit.ly/WP2020podcast Book a call with Gemma: http://bit.ly/CallGemmaPodcast   Connect with your host Gemma Stow: Website: https://www.gemmastow.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemmastow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/gemmastow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomorehidingco Connect with Kathryn: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/kathrynwellum-kent/ Website: https://www.monahans.co.uk/

How companies can encourage their women more effectively with special guest Jess Taha.   Re-sharing this amazing interview.  Jess has moved on since the first release of this episode and is now the Board HR Director for Mr Fothergill's Seeds Ltd.   #Takeaways The important part that companies can play when it comes to women being more visible. The company culture is vital to identify and empower the top and emerging talent. Being able to be themselves allows women to step up and find their own ways to be more visible. Companies need to give women the platform to shine. Organisations need to start by talking to their people. The drive starts at the top and isn't all down to HR to solve the gender gap.    Today on the No More Hiding podcast I am talking to an amazing and super inspiring woman all about how companies have a responsibility in providing their female top talent a platform to help them be more visible and own their ideas and opinions.   Working Mum. Essex girl. Committed feminist. Jess Taha has spent her career working across multiple industries for a number of household names and most recently with Swan in social housing. Her extensive experience as an HR professional has seen her deal with people, talent and policy and the challenges those bring for women progressing their careers. Promoting, pioneering and advocating for fairer working environments for all, Jess is unapologetically a woman on a mission.  So listen in to this incredible conversation that will give you insights into how companies can support women's career progression and self promotion and how women themselves can start owning their expertise.  Love love love this conversation and could have chatted all day to Jess!  “I got massive imposter syndrome and didn't feel like I fitted in where I was working...I felt like I had to fit in with that ‘boy's club” - Jess “I got into HR because I wanted to fight injustice and I am a huge feminist and I believe in equal pay” - Jess “As we get older we tend to stop giving a shit about what people think” - Jess “Part of my role is un-training women everything they have learned as a child about being a good girl, about being accepting about having to fit in and having to please people and wanting to be liked” - Jess “I am a senior manager in my organisation and I still make sure I have those conversations with people on the ground regardless of their level to really get to know them and that's when you start to realise oh my goodness we have got a good girl on our hands we need to make them more of a rebel” - Jess “People can look at me and think god she's so confident and actually I am not - underneath it all I am actually just a girl from Essex … and people don't always know the fight or the struggle I have been through to get to be this confident woman” - Jess “I am working with companies and these group coaching programmes and what comes up time and time again are all these amazing ideas and opinions and that they haven't shared any of them outside the group” - Gemma “It's all about unleashing her capabilities and getting her confidence up.  For me it's all about giving that individual the platform.  I don't do anything she shines on her own. She is amazing” - Jess   #Resources   “5 Steps to being more visible at work” one page guide mentioned in the episode - get yours here:   https://www.gemmastow.com/5-ways-to-be-more-visible-at-work Get the White Paper ‘Visibility at Work: The Importance of Self Promotion for Women's Career Progression: https://bit.ly/WP2020podcast   Book a call with Gemma - http://bit.ly/2t8bTJ1   Connect with your host Gemma Stow: Website: https://www.gemmastow.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemmastow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/gemmastow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomorehidingco   Connect with guest Jess Taha : LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jess-taha/ #nomorehiding #leadership #selfpromotion #femaleleaders #leadershipdevelopment #visibilitymatters #personalbranding

Diving straight into this quick win episode where I want to follow on from last week where we talked about the impact that women can have when they speak up and how that impact can actually be causing a fear of success for you that's stopping you from moving forward. The best way to break the fear is to break the habits that keep it strong.  We all have habits or little rituals that we do in order to protect ourselves from things that we don't want or that scare us and fill us with fear.  This fear can feel very real and although some people laugh it off it can actually be something that is holding you back from putting yourself forward for opportunities where you can really excel, shine and show everyone who you really are and what you are truly capable of. Take the test - figure out where you are doing well or where you have gaps in terms of raising your profile I have been talking to a lot of people recently about LinkedIn the thing I have noticed is that they have dipped their big toe into LinkedIn - they have set up their profile and possibly added a photo of themselves. But what I am hearing is that they say they are on LinkedIn and using it to raise their profile but in all honesty what they really mean is that they are on the platform but they aren't really ON it.  Maybe this is sounding familiar? Re-Release - How better feedback can make all the difference I want to talk about the importance of feedback.   This is the thing with feedback - if done well it can be a great tool to support growth - if done badly it can really hold women back.  I talk about both of these things today and also not forgetting that feedback shouldn't be the only thing we rely on to grow and move forward and I will share some ways you can do this for yourself too! Have you ever been told “you are great at your job - keep doing what you are doing” from a line manager or someone more senior to you.  And you were expecting something a little more specific, something that you could sink your teeth into and something that well would actually help you and your career progression.   Research including that from the HBR (Harvard business review) has found that vague feedback is actually holding women back and they are at a significant disadvantage when it comes to promotion and we need more women at those decision making tables.   Don't forget you can get my monthly email “Visibility Matters” that shares the latest around the gender pay gap, visibility, allyship, self promotion  and good practice that is happening all over the place that support more women to step up and companies to recognise the value they bring.  Get yours by clicking >> https://www.gemmastow.com/newsletter or book a chat  https://calendly.com/gemmastow-1/call-with-gemma   #Resources     Get the White Paper ‘Visibility at Work: The Importance of Self Promotion for Women's Career Progression:   https://bit.ly/WP2020podcast     Book a call with Gemma:   https://calendly.com/gemmastow-1/call-with-gemma     Get the newsletter:   https://www.gemmastow.com/newsletter Connect with your host Gemma Stow: Website: https://www.gemmastow.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemmastow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/gemmastow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomorehidingco

I promised a quick win episode today on the back of the results I found when working with a lot of women in a short space of time through all the IWD training workshops.  The thing that was obvious and a lot of women feedback to me either in the groups or privately was not being clear on their strengths. I find this a lot - as women we often forget what has led us to where we are today.  All the life and work experiences, the good the bad and the ugly - all of them have made you who you are.  Yet when asked what strengths you have - you have to stop and think about it for too long.  This is your power.  This is what makes you who you are and this is definitely the thing that is going to stand you apart and give the edge when that next opportunity comes along at work that may just be the gamechanger for your career.  Try the steps I share in this quick episode and then  go try them out!  I want to hear from you today - yes today drop me a message on LinkedIn, instagram @nomorehidingco or even facebook if you must or even better email me gemma@gemmastow.com and let me know that you are going to do this and even better you are going to use this to play bigger.  Let me know today. Today I want to talk to you about how to feel recognised and rewarded at work and I share the stories of 3 women that have done just that - it wasn't the easiest thing for them to do in terms of raising their profiles and being more visible and having to talk about themselves, but the results are exactly what they wanted.  And here's the thing - we have to take a step back and see who can really impact and change your career progression - we can find other people to blame, managers, organisations and their culture or lack of support OR we can start to see what's within our control - how can we grab back those reins and start to shift things and get what we really want - listen in and let me know how you will make things happen for yourself….   "So what's it going to be….waiting around and hoping and praying that this will start happening or get hold of the reins yourself?" I hope you don't mind me messaging but just wanted to reach out and say thanks.  I have an interview Thursday for a Head of Business Development at work, I'm so ready for the promotion and although I have been prepping all weekend I just needed a different perspective and I came across your podcast re interviews. It was so very helpful, it helped me to feel confident, and remind me that I can do this and I can talk about myself which I find hard! So thank you for your inspiring podcast I think the work you do is amazing and ill certainly be mentioning you to other women at work! Xx" And Amy who said; “Honestly I have to thank you! I know you will say I did the work but I had 3 interviews last week and got 3 offers this week. Before the interviews I listened to some of your podcasts and although lots of it is things I already knew, listening to them before enabled me to become more self aware in the moment and I honestly attribute this to my successes so ultimately you inadvertently facilitated my success So Thank you xx" That particular episode which is number 56 and is nearly two years old just goes to show how important this podcast really is to you listeners and the impact it can have.  And this is one of the many reasons I have to get this show back on the road.   Today I have a super special guest on the show to talk about all things clarity.  Clarity of thought around big or small things in our lives can be the game changer we all need.  Yet life always seems so busy to even get a moment to think about the bigger questions - such as what do I want for my career ? Or do I need something different now? A new challenge perhaps? Or want time to reassess what matters most?  You might be listening thinking yes, getting some headspace  and time to find that clarity sounds very appealing but where to start with it when life doesn't always help you out with that.  What can you do for yourself?  Which is why I have the amazing Louise Brogan-Hewitt on the show from Louise yoga to delve into the things we can do for ourselves to get our thoughts in order.  Take a listen to this fabulous chat and get in touch to tell us what you think.   “What's stopping people is that they are worried about what everyone else thinks, you are comparing yourself all the time and I really want our event to move away from that, to leave women feeling that inner confidence, inner strength and grounded to make a different decision to when they walked through the door” Gemma “Empowered, grounded and connected with themselves… and when you are making decisions from overwhelm then you are thinking about everyone else and what will they think, will they like it or what will they say” Louise   ** If you want more info on the York event please do reach out to us for more information gemma@gemmastow.com or hello@louiseyoga.uk ** and check out the incredible venue here > https://www.grayscourtyork.com/   Resources The previous episode Ep56 I mention about interviews > https://gemmastow.libsyn.com/how-can-i-make-the-most-out-of-interviews The previous episode Ep78 with my amazing sisters Louise and Ailsa > https://gemmastow.libsyn.com/78-how-self-care-can-increase-your-confidence Don't forget you can get my monthly email “Visibility Matters” that shares the latest around the gender pay gap, visibility, allyship, self promotion  and good practice that is happening all over the place that support more women to step up and companies to recognise the value they bring.   Get yours by clicking >> https://www.gemmastow.com/newsletter or book a chat  https://calendly.com/gemmastow-1/call-with-gemma   Take the Test > How good is your visibility and personal branding quiz?   http://bit.ly/visibility-takethetest Get the White Paper ‘Visibility at Work: The Importance of Self Promotion for Women's Career Progression:   https://bit.ly/WP2020podcast   Book a call with Gemma:   https://calendly.com/gemmastow-1/call-with-gemma   Get the newsletter:   https://www.gemmastow.com/newsletter   Connect with your host Gemma Stow: Website: https://www.gemmastow.com/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/gemmastow/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/gemmastow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomorehidingco     Connect with Louise: Website:  https://louiseyoga.uk/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/louise-brogan-hewitt-baab775a/  Email: hello@louiseyoga.uk Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/louiseyoga.uk/

How else can we make sure women are recognised Today we are sharing a previous episode from the end of last year 2020 which had a big impact because it focuses on what else there is to do when it comes to being more visible.  Sometimes when you feel like you are doing ALL the things and nothing is changing in terms of your career progression opportunities it can be frustrating to say the least and can lead to resentment.  I can see this now especially after the pandemic and people starting to realise what matters most to them and demanding more flexibility at work - there is talk of the 'great resignation' and this is happening as more companies are losing their best people when they don't need to.  In this previous episode I go through a whole load of questions that companies can use to assess where their employees are at right now and what they can do to help them be more visible and get the opportunities they want.  If you want to assess your own visibility then grab the 2021 quiz to see what you score and identify what more you can do for yourself!  Link below to grab your own copy.  ...................................... How to stop that fear of success sneaking in   Today we are revisiting a previous quick win episode where we look at breaking down the habits that keep our fears strong - with particular attention to the fear of success which we all should know by now is a very real thing.  It's often one of those fears that is not talked about as much yet can be a big barrier for so many women with their career progression and saying yes to new opportunities.  We convince ourselves of all sorts of reasons why we can't do something even though we know 100% we are absolutely capable.     So listen in and make sure that when you are thinking about the success you can have and your potential, you are not worrying about what happens when you achieve that success.  And I also wanted to take this opportunity to mention that this weekend I will be running the Manchester Marathon which has been on my go to do in my lifetime list and I can't believe it is here.  And with all the press coverage and talk about how women are blamed as victims recently then I had to mention the amazing charity I am running for which is Women's Aid and all the incredible work they do to keep women and children safe from violence and abuse.   Enough is enough and if you are a supporter of this too then please head over to my Justgiving page and support both Women's Aid and me to make it to the finish line whilst raising important funds for this amazing charity.  And watch this space as I will be giving you the lowdown on how the marathon goes - after all it's a big challenge that requires a lot of digging deep and self belief which is exactly what we also need in terms of owning our expertise! Enjoy today's quick win episode and let me know when it inspires you to take action!   ...................................... How to really own your strengths and celebrate them Importance of identifying your own characteristics and strengths  Creating your big deal list How to use stories to your advantage.   Today we are going to be revisiting a quick win episode from earlier in the year all about strengths - because let's face it we don't celebrate our strengths enough do we.  And the more workshops and trainings a I do with women in all areas and all industries one thing remains the same and that is that we have this tendency to focus on the negatives and seem to forgot all about the awesome things we have done and achieved and don't spend any time talking about the impact and results we create either.   These are the reasons behind why we do the work we do in the first place and yet we fail to recognise that for ourselves and then wonder why others don't recognise it either - so keep listening and hear more about the importance of identifying your own characteristics, creating your big deal list and how to use stories to your advantage.  Get in touch and let me know how you will start to share your strengths!   ......................................
