What if our deepest struggle isn't just with sin, but with a hidden "orphan spirit" that distorts our perception of God and ourselves? Join us as we explore this profound question, revealing how feelings of rejection can obscure our true identity as beloved children of God. Through the lens of scripture, particularly John 14:18 and Romans 8, we unravel the spiritual implications of orphanhood and how embracing sonship can lead to a life free from fear and slavery. We peel back the layers of the human experience, especially from the perspective of faith leaders, who often grapple with their imperfections while guiding others. Sharing candid reflections, we emphasize the significance of authenticity and community support in overcoming shame and embracing redemption. By confronting the "orphan spirit," we move beyond self-criticism and the relentless pursuit of external validation, discovering our worth in the embrace of God's love.As we share personal stories, including moments of revelation in Africa, we invite you to experience the transformative power of seeing God as a loving Father. From practical advice on finding father figures within the community to the healing journey of forgiveness, this episode is a call to introspection and spiritual renewal. Immerse yourself in worship and prayer, releasing any hindrances to fully accepting your identity as a child of God, and step into a victorious life free from the chains of orphanhood.
Tim engages with Ida and Walt Cowart, senior trainers at Restoring the Foundations. They discuss their journey in ministry, the importance of personal encounters with God, and the need for reformation within the American Christian Church. The Cowarts share insights on prophetic gifting, the significance of joy in faith, and the impact of generational baggage and demonic oppression on individuals. Their ministry focuses on helping people recognize their calling and experience freedom in Christ. We explore the deep connections between generational baggage, demonic oppression, and the healing process. They discuss personal experiences with accidents and trauma, the importance of breaking generational curses, and the hidden nature of demonic influence. The conversation emphasizes the significance of walking out freedom after ministry, the transformative power of metanoia, and the practical steps involved in the ministry process. Ultimately, they highlight the importance of community and ongoing support in the healing journey.Support the showWatch Us On Youtube!
"That's so gay!" So said a 10 year-old boy and got himself punished by the teacher who overheard him. The boy's father is calling for advice on how to explain why saying "That's so gay" as a pejorative is hurtful. A man with a big ole wiener sees his long distance girlfriend once per month. When they see each other they go at it, with a frequency and intensity that will make many of you blush. The problem? It's causing her a lot of pain. Is there a way to make love, not lacerations? Speaking of pain, Dan brings on Leigh Cowart, science journalist and author of "Hurts So Good: The Science and Culture of Pain on Purpose" They talk about masochism, how the experience of pain can be transmogrified into pleasure, how every masochist has a sadist's imagination, and finally- how to safely kick a man in the nuts. Cowart is such a superb thinker, and a delight to listen to. A little is on the Micro and the whole thing is on the Magnum. And, in one of our all time weirdest calls, a married man with kids thinks he's having a psychic connection with someone he's met. The synchronicities are off the charts! Is he having some kind of profound spiritual flowering, or is it just garden variety mid-life crisis? You decide. Q@Savage.Love 206-302-2064 This episode is brought to you by Helix Sleep. Can pain… be pleasure? I was never one to experience a runner's high, or to enjoy ‘feeling the burn' after a workout. But are there ways—or times—when pain provides something extra, or even extraordinary? Leigh Cowart sets out to ask and to answer this very question. Sure, we might first think of masochism as something to do with sex—but it gets out of the bedroom plenty. Cowart talks about Black Plague flagellants, ballerinas dancing on broken bones, ice bathers, and competitive eaters choking down hot peppers while they cry. Why do people engage in masochism? What are the benefits and the costs? And what does masochism have to say about the human experience? Cowart gives us a fascinating, at times hilarious, exposition on something they (a science writer) chooses to experiment with as well. We follow Leigh on surprising journeys into the pain/pleasure matrix as they unravel how our minds and bodies find meaning and relief in pain. Call it a quirk in the programming. Call it sexy. Call it natural. Pain for pleasure certainly provides food for thought—and some awesome cocktail ideas, too, for that matter. And that's not all! Also joining us will be alum Rachel Feltman, as part of our Author's Hosting Authors events! You won't want to miss these two as they talk about the intimate details of our pain/pleasure sensory system. Episode was recorded live November 14, 2024.
