You can have fun and get to know ppl within certain parametersBecause it is structured/organized and often only done at the beginning, it can feel inauthentic even if you do the hard work of being vulnerableThis exposes the separation in our culture that we often experience at work - we hide many aspects of our “true” selves at work, and so are guarded in circumstances that demand we “truly get to know each other” - does that desire exist elsewhere outside of this meeting where we are doing icebreakers? How?From “Reinventing Organizations” - our soul can be shy, especially when around other people, and if we think about our true selves (soul) as a wild animal hiding to see if it’s safe to come out, you do not go barreling through the woods yelling after it, which is what icebreakers feel like to Dan. “Unfortunately in our culture, we too often go crashing through the woods together as a means to build community quickly...under these conditions, the intellect, emotions, will, and ego may emerge, but not the soul; we scare off all the soulful things, like respectful relationships, goodwill, and hope.” (which are v important components of community)How to Do BetterSimilar to our episode on teambuilding, getting to know one another should be embedded in every culture. Creating a space of safety, collaboration and wholeness is an ongoing, everyday process that is not accomplished with icebreakers. So, how do we center humanity and get to know one another at conferences/new meetings/workshops without icebreakers? What’s the alternative? What you are looking for is Check In/Check Out QuestionsWhat is the result of your meeting?Relationships/Resources/ResultThere is power in questions, be intentional about the questions that you ask and why you choose them. They should serve a specific purpose to the time that you are spending together.Check-In Question ExamplesRelationships:What name do you prefer people call you?How are you feeling today? (feel free to project the feelings inventory)What is one thing that brought you joy today?Resources Check In Questions:What is your learning style? What is one thing, if people knew it, could help them work with you? What do you need to do make this meeting valuable to you? Results:What would it look like if this meeting were successful? If a miracle happened, what would you accomplish here today?Check-Out Question Examples:Relationships:In one word or short phrase, how are you feeling right now? What have you appreciated about our time together?Resources:What knowledge, insight, or wisdom have you gained from our time together today? What will you do differently based on the work here today? What worked? What didn’t work? What would you have done differently? Results:On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the progress of this meeting towards our meeting result?Rate progress on each meeting result: high, medium, lowWhat is your next step? What is one commitment you can make?Bottom line: keep your questions simple and relevant to whatever you are spending your time together onA note on small groupsIf you break your attendees into small groups, take note on the level of vulnerability expressed in the check-in questions if you can. Do not put your group in a situation to discuss highly vulnerable subjects the first few times that they meet. Trust takes time.MODEL the vulnerability you would like to seeEnsure the group knows that it is an invitation, and if they can’t think of something/aren’t prepared to share they can say they would like to pass for nowGive people both something to strive for and empower them with choiceOngoing Community buildingIcebreakers are a technical tool, and in a way so are check-in/out questions. Kyley Caldwell is a mother to two small children, co-host of the Hello Universe podcast, a healer, an Akashic Records reader, and a coach for those ready to transform their lives and fulfill their soul’s purpose. When her son was one years old, she had a profound turning point. She knew she needed to find a way to take care of her heart and manage the fear and anxiety that had taken over her life, or she was going to simply miss the living of her own life. With that decision, her life-long curiosity about spirituality became a driving force. She followed the pings to pursue yoga and mindfulness practices, she read everything she could find, and listened to the wise spiritual teachers that are her children. She eventually found the Akashic Records, and her life was forever changed. She found a way to tap directly into the profound healing and wisdom of infinite divine love, whenever and wherever she needed. Who doesn’t want that? These days her healing practice is centered around supporting the reunification of our souls’ fragments and the rewriting of limiting beliefs through the Akashic Records. This work will change your life. Her house is old, full of sunlight, and always messy. The ocean is her best medicine. Tea is her favorite drink—Irish breakfast with a little milk. I really wanted to make an episode about this because I make a guarantee to all my clients that come to me, that they will get the results they are looking for if they do the work. I am able to make this guarantee because I know that it works and that your thoughts create your results. Two years ago I was living in a crappy house with a roommate so I could keep expenses low and invest in coaching. I knew, even then, before I had created the coaching career that I have now, and the ideal relationship that I’m in now, that the work, works. As a result, I attracted the up-leveled man, and I up-leveled my finances and my life overall. I created that. I committed to doing the work. I am a product of the processes I put in place, so I know that if you invest your time and become an observer of your thoughts, you can create your results too. Topics in this episodeYour behaviors are a mirror image of how you feel about yourselfThe fear that the other shoe is going to dropWhy isn’t this working? Why haven’t I found the love of my life? Why am I financially struggling? “The work not working” is just a thought. We can’t believe it! Exactly 100 episodes behind us Dreamers! We’ve interviewed dozens of thought leaders, entrepreneurs, some of the world’s brightest minds and we’ve been impacted by their wisdom in a way or the other. Everything, everyone, every great things starts at somewhere, and honestly at first Casanova didn’t think DreamNation will come this far and grow this big. He started this podcast because he wanted to connect with people who already are there, ahead of us, who’ve done what we look forward to, who already break barriers, who already won, because that meant business coaching not just for us but for all you our dear tribe. Now, you asked and we listened! One of the most requested topics for our podcast is about Real Estate. As you may know this topic is close to home, Casanova built one of his firsts businesses around it. In the coming episodes, we will offer more contents about Real Estate, we will talk with people who’ve built a lot of success in this field, and we will uncover more gems in how to win in it. In the coming episodes we will talk more about leveling up, not just our mindset, but also how we can level up our generational wealth and our legacy. If you want to know a little bit more about real estate, how you make your way around it, and what we can expect in season 3 of DreamNation, listen to this episode in full.  In this episode, Casanova talks about: Why Real Estate is the by-product of his mindsetWhy he wanted to own real estateWhat are the tax credits and tax benefits that comes with itHow building connections can help you get where you want to beWhat credit truly meansHow mindset and discipline play important role in winning in life Knowledge Nuggets In addition to talking about business, mindset, great thoughts, etc., we will add more contents about real estate and ultimately how you can live a life by your design. [1:49] Real Estate is the by-product of what he’s trying to accomplish inn life. Casanova said that what he really aims in this life, is to be able to leave something when he’s done. That is his legacy. That includes businesses and properties to take care of those that come behind us. [2:53] In United States, there are two types of people that run the country- those who owns businesses and who owns real estate. It’s all about assets that we have. [4:58] Mentorship is important in real estate. And most of the people in real estate field are willing to help, as long as you value their time, and you are willing to put in the work yourself. [8:19] It’s about who knows you. It’s not about what you have, not even entirely about who you know, but it’s about who knows you. Who can attest your credibility and your reputation. And that credibility is built by you, over time. [11:11] Discipline will get you there, and keep you there. Discipline is getting up everyday doing what you said you’ll be doing, even if you do not feel like doing it. Discipline leads to your reputation, which leads to your credibility, which will lead you to a life by your design. [12:53] Train your mind to see the opportunities. Is your mind trained to fear? Do you have poor mindset that passes over opportunities? Decide that today is your day. Big things was just dreams at the beginning, but they were actualize by a decision, the decision to start making that dream a reality. Dreams has to manifest in your mind first, once you conceive it, that’s when you’ll take action.  Dreamers, if you haven’t already, please head on to iTunes and search for dreamnationpodcast or go to dreamnationpodcast.com and leave us a rating and a review. This podcast is from Just Know How Coaching, presented by Stephanie Steggehuis a NLP Coach with her focus on Time Management and Mindset. In today's episode we are talking about The Self-Esteem BoostMake the thing you like about yourself stronger. You always look for the evidence you are this way, negative or positive. Create evidence, create a ¨future you¨ where you are doing what you would like to do.Convert a negative experience into a counter experience, see it as a learning experienceIt takes time and reflection, but it will workAcknowledge how you feel and be grateful for the positive things in your life and bodyGive yourself a pep-talk Imagine how you will stand, talk, walk, dress, when you are the person you like to beWhat would you do more or do less when you are that person? Why is it so important to be that person? What beliefs do you have now that are holding you back?Where are does beliefs come from? How do they make you feel?Ripple effect, how one change often gives you more changesYou make the reaction, shift your perspective, do not make up what others think shift it to something positive.Beliefs actives automatic filters in our brain, the deep structure what we mean is not always communicates with what we say and this makes us act from an old belief and not the reality.Follow Just Know How Coaching on:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/justknowhowcoaching/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephaniesteggehuis/Sign up to receive more Tips & Tricks to crack the code of your mind and Download my Free Time Management e-book by Clicking here!

Family denied my pain my whole life and led to more damage and no care for what could’ve been prevented.. don’t have a ton of friends at the moment haha, isolation with chronic pain and especially mental health can get intense. But I do have an amazing supportive fiancée who deals with a lot of similar issues, I wouldn’t make it without her love and understanding, her reassurance that I’m not less-than or a burden for my problems, and just not being alone in this anymoreHave you ever had someone not believe you have an invisible illness because of your appearance and if so are there any examples that stand out? *Many times.. I have some quite traumatic experiences with doctors not believing me, and it’s once a whole extra level when they find out I’m trans. the worst to me is the dismissal that it’s all due to my mental health and being abused as a kid.. first of all, wtf? And second of all... even if that was true, does that make my pain any less real? Does that tighten my joints and make me stop dislocating? No? then treat me like any patient with visible illness and DO SOMETHINGHow has your invisible illness affected your relationships? *It’s been a struggle... it’s hard to keep friends when you flake all the time due to flares or injuries, or just having no energy for anything... I so thankful my partner understands and believes me but even then I find myself feeling like a burden, pushing myself to go past my limits because I feel useless if I don’t, even when people are telling me otherwiseIs there anything you are afraid to tell people in your life? *Too much to list.. I keep a lot to myselfDoes the fact that your disease is invisible change how healthcare professionals treat you? *Absolutely. I’m still not diagnosed because nobody will take me seriously, a mix of the invisibility, my age, and being visibly transWhat is your best coping mechanism? *Ha, not a healthy one by any means, but my usual coping is just dissociatingWhat are you the most concerned about and the most hopeful for in the future? *I’m scared for the mobility I’m going to continue to lose and the pain that’ll keep worsening.. I’m hopeful that there will be more figured out but I don’t hold out much hope that I’ll ever be cured or better to really any degree, this is just my body. What is your favorite swear word?MotherfuckerIs there anything you want to make sure we talk about during the interview? Like an organization you want to promote or something specific that you deal with.Mostly just want to share my experience and explain my views on language usage/ways to be more accepting toward trans people in general! It means a lot to me to be heard on this issueWhat is the hardest and/or best lesson your condition has taught you? That nothing is guaranteed. You never know when a flare will hit, or an injury will happen, or any other setback. Do everything you can while you can and don’t be afraid to grieve for what you miss out onWhat is the best purchase under $100 that helped your lifeMicrowave heat pads, and one of those s curve plastic things with the nubs to massage and press out spasms.. my fiancée uses that one more than I have but she loooves it! Hack Your New Year's Resolutions

New Year's resolutions are often forgotten after only a month, mostly because we keep them vague. Why is that? One of the things I've uncovered after some research and combining a few different goal setting exercises, and it comes down to the emotions we associate to them. We can place positive or negative ones. The choice is yours. Instead of picking resolutions that are arbitrary, I found that it's better to list out your whys, whats, and aaociated feelings. Here's the process I went through to hack my new year's resolutions and why I think it works:List out at least 5-7 of your Bes, Dos, and Haves. Who do you want to BE? What do you want to DO? and What do you want to HAVE? Allow yourself to free form flow. Don't think about how you will get there. This part is to uncover what it is that really makes your heart sing. Play and imagine that everything is possible.Add emotions to the items. What would it feel like once you already have accomplished these things? For example, visualize yourself already in your ideal weight. What does that feel like?Choose 2-3 of the ones that you really really want, ideally at least one from each column. - the most important ones.Add a cost to each of the important ones that you've starred. What's the financial cost? What is the time committment? What is it going to feel like if I spend the time and/or money on this? The idea here is to understand the trade-offs and allow your creative brain to come up with solutions that you wouldn't normally have thought of. For example, if you want to fly first class - what's the actual cost or is there something else that you could do, such as acquire airline miles to offset the extra cost.Take a break, walk away or jump up and down. For each of the important ones you chose, write out the very next, easy action. Break it down into a task that could be done today. For example, look on United for the number of miles required for a one-way, business class ticket from Kuala Lumpur to Cusco. Another example, make a decision on whether or not to publish or self-publish.Take that action today! When you allow yourself to focus on the just the very next step, your creative brain will start to answer those questions. This is really valuable because sometimes we focus on too many things, trying to piece together all the puzzle pieces without actually looking at each one and seeing where they fit.Once you've mapped this out, you'll have a rough idea of what your time and costs are for the month.

#015 - It's a new year, which for many of us means a new start. Goals are set and we bring in the new year with a ton of motivation...only to have the momentum dwindle 2 weeks later. The reason why so many resolutions fail is that we try to change our outer world before we change our inner world. We don't succeed because we don't believe that we can. And therefore our thoughts don't align with the actions we need to take to achieve what we want. So how can we change a belief? In this episode I talk about how to change our beliefs by trying something new...called the embodiment experiment. In this episode you'll hear:Why most resolutions failWhat to do when you hate goal settingWhy progress is better and more important than the outcomeHow to believe in yourself and your abilities when the past has shown otherwiseWhy we should rewire the brainWhat we should do every morning to create the life we wantHow theatre can help us get in the role of our future selfHow to embody the essence of who you want to beWhat the embodiment experiment isFor full show notes come on over to simplywoke.com/015Join the Embody Your Essence Facebook GroupOr come hang out with me on Instagram See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
