Grandpa Bill talks today EMOTIONS Love & MusicAnalgesia, Love, and the Brain: A Deep DiveAnalgesiaAnalgesia is the inability to feel pain. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including injury, disease, and drugs. Analgesia can be a valuable tool for managing pain, but it is important to note that it does not treat the underlying cause of the pain.Reward Processing Areas of the BrainThe reward processing areas of the brain are a group of structures that are involved in the experience of pleasure and motivation. These areas include the ventral tegmental area (VTA), the nucleus accumbens (NAc), and the prefrontal cortex (PFC). When these areas are activated, they release dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is associated with pleasure and motivation.Love and AnalgesiaLove is a complex emotion that involves feelings of affection, attachment, and intimacy. Studies have shown that love can have analgesic effects. In other words, love can help to reduce pain. This is likely due to the fact that love activates the reward processing areas of the brain. When these areas are activated, they release dopamine, which can help to reduce pain.Sensations of LoveThe sensations of love can vary from person to person. However, some common sensations include: A feeling of warmth and comfort A sense of connection with the other person A feeling of being safe and secure A desire to be close to the other person A feeling of joy and happiness#love#brain,#analgesia,#pain,#reward#dopamine,#neuroscience,#psychology,#health,#wellness, The Science of Love: How It Can Reduce Pain Love and the Brain: A Powerful Pain Reliever The Healing Power of Love How Love Can Help You Manage Pain Love: The Best Medicine?
What if you could tap into the power of your entire brain to experience true peace and the present moment? This is the exact phenomenon that Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor has been studying since she experienced a stroke in 1996 that changed her whole perception of reality. In this episode, we explore the idea that our brains have 4 characters that serve different essential functions to make up who we are and how we experience the world. We discuss each character, how to tap into different parts of our minds, and how we can use this in the fertility journey and parenting. Dr. Taylor's experience changed everything she knows about the brain and our human consciousness. It's an honor to get to bring her on the podcast to share her experience, discuss her incredible knowledge of the brain, and understand better how we can use this in the conscious fertility journey. Key Topics/Takeaways: Dr. Taylor's experience with her stroke and how it changed her brainWhere consciousness begins and ends in the brainThe core functions of our four brain hemispheresBringing together the four hemispheres for a brain huddleUsing the brain huddle to surrender to the present momentDr. Taylor's experience of Nirvana after the strokeConscious work to invoke quantum healing in our bodiesGenerational differences in consciousnessThe power to choose moment by moment Bio Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a Harvard trained and published neuroanatomist. In 1996 she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write or recall any of her life. Her memoir, My Stroke of Insight, documenting her experience with stroke and eight-year recovery spent 63 weeks on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list, and is still routinely the #1 book about stroke on Amazon. Dr. Taylor is a dynamic teacher and public speaker who loves educating all age groups, academic levels, as well as corporations about the beauty of our human brain and its ability to recover from trauma. In 2008 she gave the first TED talk that ever went viral on the Internet, which now has well over 28 million views. Also in 2008, Dr. Taylor was chosen as one of TIME Magazine's “100 Most Influential People in the World” and was the premiere guest on Oprah Winfrey's “Soul Series” web-cast. This episode is a really cool double-feature deal because it's an interview I did over on The 8th House podcast with Caley. Her pod is all about deconditioning and deprogramming to get back to the essence of who we are, and this episode is totally reflective of that vibe. When I was still under the programming of diet culture, I didn't give a crap about loving myself. I just wanted to be skinny. And most of the Yum Mums I work with feel the same way – at first. Because what does loving yourself have to do with weight loss? We just want to get on the scale and see the number we want to see. We're programmed to believe that's all that matters. And that's what diet culture would have you believe until your dying day, so that you keep coming back and keep buying the supplements and exercise programs and pills that inevitably stop working because you're not going deep enough to fix the root cause.Fixing the root cause is the only way to lose weight for the last time, which is totally different from regular ol' weight loss.Fixing the root cause involves loving yourself enough to care about it. It's never just about the scale. You can't hate your body thin. I tried it a million times. It just doesn't work.In Yummy Mummy, I basically trick you into loving yourself. I call it weight loss, but really the weight loss is a byproduct of the self-love and self-connection we do inside the program. But how do we start to untie our worth and value from the scale, WHILE ALSO wanting to lose weight for the last time? That's exactly what we talk about in this episode. Listen in and you'll hear more about: How diet culture hijacks our brainThe shame around body hate and weight lossFiguring out where the weight is really coming fromBalancing body love with wanting to changeHow to create support physically, mentally, and emotionallyAND, if you didn't sign up in time for the January Yummy Mummy Experience, NO WORRIES. “Our relationships really shape how we feel, how we think, how we remember things, how we tell the story of who we are, the sense of self, where you focus your attention, what gives you a sense of purpose.Relational integration in a family leads to the growth of neural integration inside the child's nervous system. Every time you say regulation—like regulating emotion or your mood, regulating attention, thought behavior, self-understanding, morality—it depends on integration in the brain. So the neural integration is the basis for optimal regulation, but it comes from relational integration. We all can follow Picasso's suggestion, which I think is really beautiful: The meaning of life discovering our gift. The purpose of life is giving it away.” (Dan Siegel)In developmental science, there are lots of debates between nature and nurture. And Dr. Dan Siegel's groundbreaking work in interpersonal neurobiology demonstrates that we are naturally wired for nurture—and furthermore, we cannot thrive without it.Over the past five decades, he has sought to explain through attachment theory and a study of the brain, how relationships shape our feelings, thoughts, memories, stories and personal narratives, and how all these offer an opportunity for us to integrate all of our personal subjective with the world outside us.Our relational tendencies and inner being are malleable—always growing and changing. We are under construction our entire lives, and that's good news for those of us who feel the weight of loneliness, relational struggle, or the challenges of mental illness.Dan Siegel's work helps us become deeply present to others—in friendships, romance, or parenting—by becoming deeply attuned to your inner life, including all of our emotions, plans, pain, and our ongoing and evolving stories. His research shows that caring and attuned relationships provide a safe and secure environment in which we can experience integration and gain insight into what is most meaningful to us. He calls this concept “mindsight”—how we gain an inner sense of self is intertwined with how we relate to others. And he offers how mindfulness and meditation are important to this process of becoming intraconnected. Life today is characterized by isolation and fragmentation, but Dan's wisdom and practices offer helpful guidelines on how we can grow whole—and persons in deepening, reciprocating relationships.Dr. Dan Siegel is Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. He has authored numerous research articles, books, and accessible materials that apply what we know about the brain to our most sacred and significant relationships. His many books include the groundbreaking introduction to interpersonal neurobiology, The Developing Mind—as well as Mindsight, Parenting from the Inside Out, The Whole Brain Child, and his most recent book, Intra-Connected.In this conversation with Dan Siegel, we discuss:The connection between the mind and the brain, and why that matters for our thrivingComing to terms with big, challenging emotions—especially fearHow psychological integration creates flow and harmony and helps us deal with chaos and rigidityThe scientific connection between focused attention, open awareness, and compassionate intentionHe walks us through a mindfulness exercise he calls “the wheel of awareness”The neurobiology of interpersonal relationshipsAnd we discuss how that impacts not just our spirituality and relationships, but society as a whole.About Dan SiegelDr. Siegel is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and the founding co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. An award-winning educator, he is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and recipient of several honorary fellowships. Dr. Siegel is also the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute, an educational organization, which offers online learning and in-person seminars that focus on how the development of mindsight in individuals, families and communities can be enhanced by examining the interface of human relationships and basic biological processes. His psychotherapy practice includes children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. He serves as the Medical Director of the LifeSpan Learning Institute and on the Advisory Board of the Blue School in New York City, which has built its curriculum around Dr. Siegel's Mindsight approach. He is author of many books, including, The Developing Mind: How Relationships and the Brain Interact to Shape Who We Are, Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation, The Whole-Brain Child: 12 Revolutionary Strategies to Nurture Your Child's Developing Mind, Survive Everyday Parenting Struggles, and Help Your Family Thrive, Parenting from the Inside Out: How A Deeper Self-Understanding Can Help You Raise Children Who Thrive, and his most recent, IntraConnected: MWe (Me + We) as the Integration of Self, Identity, and Belonging.Show NotesExplore Dr. Dan Siegel's Website ResourcesDan Siegel's latest book: Intraconnected: MWe (Me + We) as the Integration of Self, Identity, and BelongingPracticing the Wheel of Awareness (guided meditative exercises): https://drdansiegel.com/wheel-of-awareness/Emotional realities reverberating throughout our livesPicasso on meaning and purpose: “The meaning of life discovering our gift. When you're expecting a baby or experiencing the first year of their life, there are books which tell you all the key development growth points to be looking out for and what comes next. We don't talk about these as well as we could as our children go through childhood and adolescents. What emotions should they be feeling at what point? Is this behavior or outburst normal? As they grow and develop, one of the questions that gets asked is, “What does a healthy brain look like?” Our brain reacts to different pathways and it can affect our mood and responses. If we can understand the brain we can understand why we teach our children different skills and functions at key life stages and certain ages. Rebecca shares how if we can understand the brain then we can understand how to support our children's next steps and if needed support getting them back on track. The topics we cover in this episode are:What Brain Balance is and how to strengthen the brain and pathwaysHow development impacts our brain pathways Why Rebecca wrote Back on TrackThe impact of the pandemic on development Why having an action plan to help children is importantWhat developmental markers look like in childhood and as your child heads towards adolescence Sensory development in children and how the senses affects our decisionThe effects of tiredness on the brainThe practice of pausing The Snow Angel Exercise And remember, do not forget about yourself, take a few minutes for you and have a little fun!—About The Guest - Dr Rebecca JacksonDr. Rebecca Jackson, Chief Programs Officer at Brain Balance, is a celebrated expert in brain health and optimization. Finally! I offer you an interview on German New Medicine (GNM) (also referred to as Germanic Healing Knowledge or GHK)!This is the work of Dr. Ryke Geerd Hamer, a body of knowledge developed after the tragic loss of his son and Dr. Hamer's resultant testicular cancer 40+ years ago.Haven't heard of it? Well, be prepared to have your sickness and disease paradigms completely blown.Heard of it but want to know more? Then tune in and stay tuned for more interviews on this topic... this area of knowledge is essential for truly taking back our health, understanding how profoundly intelligent our biological design is and how it works FOR us, never against us.Wouldn't it allay some fears when you discover that the symptoms and diseases you have been labelled with are actually biological adaptions to help you temporarily and not a lifelong sentence?Today I share with you my interview with Tanya Verquin, artist and GNM expert who has her own podcast on this very topic (see notes).Tanya's life profoundly changed after attending a class on GNM years ago and she has continued to deepen into this knowledge over the years, raising her children from this perspective and building a community of those seeking to fully understand the truth of their biological design. She teaches us that there is a psyche-brain-organ triad that can never be separated. We are whole and grokking this concept will empower you and drop the fear and trepidation that a diagnosis can bring. In this interview you will learn:How Tanya's intro to GNM (or GHK) profoundly changed her and how she raised her childrenThe origin story of GNMThe Five Biological Laws explainedThe criteria that needs to be met for the body to start a biological programThe timeline for symptoms to appear after a conflict shockHow quickly the cellular adaptations occurThat every "disease" (special biological program) runs in 2 phases, provided there is resolution - conflict active and healing phasesWhat symptoms actually areThe relationship between healing phase and conflict active phaseThe tissue groups and how they relate to the brainThe actual roles of microbes in our body and their vital role in our disease processesHow the psyche, brain, organ triad can never be separatedThe cases in which the 5 Laws of nature don't applyThe importance of finding the balance between trusting our bodies and being concerned of outer 'threats'How the the massive increase of sickness in overall society is related to 'non-biological' ways of livingThe role of nutrient depletion in hindering the biological processesMy lung storyThe place of the traditional medicinal approaches in the context of GNMWhy in some rare cases resolutions is not recommendedHow seasonal allergies are consider a 'track'The biological significance of cavitiesThe lack of access to cranial CT scansServices Tanya offersWhy changing one's self-perception is key to their healingand more! This is such an important interview and if you received value from it then please share it around!Check out my store page for discounts on various products at: https://www.sovereigncollective.org/shop/Find Tanya on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/tanya.verquinFind Tanya on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/pixelatedperspectivespodcast/Tanya's offerings:https://linktr.ee/pixelatedperspectivesNew Perspectives membership waitlist:https://mailchi.mp/e65a0b359126/new-perspectives-membershipOther GNM resources:https://learninggnm.com/constellations/documents/constellations_intro.htmlhttps://globalgnm.com/If you like what you heard here then please share! Support the Podcast: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1590358/supportWelcome to the latest episode of our podcast, where we will be exploring the power of visualization. This topic has been discussed by many great authors and thinkers, including Nevill Goddard, Napoleon Hill, and Vadim Zeland, among others. As Nevill Goddard said, "Imagination is the power which makes the achievement of our goals inevitable." Visualization is the act of creating vivid mental images of our desired outcomes, which can help to bring them to fruition. It's a powerful tool that can help us to focus our minds, increase our motivation, and boost our confidence.Napoleon Hill also believed in the power of visualization. He said, "Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve." Visualization allows us to tap into the creative power of our minds, enabling us to see our goals and dreams as already accomplished. This mental rehearsal can help to program our subconscious mind and create a roadmap to success.Vadim Zeland, in his book Reality Transurfing, talks about the importance of visualization in creating our reality. He writes, "Visualize your goal in as much detail as possible and hold that image in your mind. As you continue to visualize your goal, you will attract the people, opportunities, and resources you need to achieve it."In this episode, we will delve deeper into the power of visualization and explore how it can be used to achieve our goals and dreams. We will discuss the following topics:How visualization works and why it's so effectiveThe science behind visualization and how it affects our brainThe importance of combining visualization with actionTechniques for visualizing effectivelyThe role of belief and emotion in visualizationThe impact of visualization on our physical and mental healthReal-life examples of people who have used visualization to achieve successJoin us as we explore the fascinating world of visualization and discover how you can harness its power to create the life you desire.Guided Meditation:Brian Scott: https://youtu.be/AGWdvc9jvoshttps://youtu.be/iMj8oIbZDqUCharles Hanaal, The Master Key Systemhttps://a.co/d/f8yK2v4Vadim Zeland, Tufti the Priestesshttps://a.co/d/itCjAaqRethink Opening My Disney Brain Commercial Closing of ReThinkBuzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched! The better you understand your brain – and the more effectively you can work with it – the happier and healthier you will be. This is the central contention of today's extraordinary guest, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor and she makes this assertion based on two levels of deep expertise. First, Dr. Taylor is a Harvard-trained neuroanatomist. Second, back in the ‘90s, she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write or recall any of her life. She later recovered, but that experience, which you will hear her describe in riveting detail, gave her incredible insight into how the brain works. She wrote a massive best-selling book called, My Stroke of Insight, which she has now followed up with a book called, Whole Brain Living, where she lays out exactly how to understand your brain and how to work with it.In this episode we talk about:Dr. Taylor's personal story and how her life has changed post-strokeThe marvels of the human brainThe differences between the brain's two hemispheres How our society is skewed towards the left hemisphere and how living too much in the left hemisphere can burn us outThe brain's “four characters” and how to work with these characters through a practice she calls “The Brain Huddle” The differences and similarities between “The Brain Huddle” and another practice we've talked about before on this show called, “RAIN”And she describes a tool for understanding your emotions called, “The 90-Second Rule”Full Shownotes: https://www.tenpercent.com/podcast-episode/jill-bolte-taylor-552See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

his episode is all about music. Have you ever felt anxious and put on your favorite calming song? Or perhaps sad and delved into a heartfelt playlist? I would guess most of us use music to fuel our tough workouts! My guest on this episode Ryan Judd is an internationally known music therapist who uses the power of song with children - mainly in the school setting. Research shows music produces Oxytocin in the brain which is the hormone associated with social bonding, a very important skill to learn as a child. Listening isn't the only part that is beneficial, but playing music can help children bond further and release any emotions through sensory play. The topics we cover in this episode are:How Ryan found Music TherapyWhat music therapy looks like in a school settingHow powerful it is to work in a groupSinging produces Oxytocin in the brainThe bonding experience of singing with othersMusic and anxiety - are there any links? The sensory side of playing musicHow Ryan likes to rest and recharge Being present with your childrenAbout The Guest - Ryan JuddRyan lives in Exeter, New Hampshire with his wife and their two young boys. As a Futurist I get to explore new inventions and track the progress of all kinds of technologies. But how did we get so smart to be able to dream all of these things up? Until I interviewed Byron about his new book Stories, Dice, and Rocks That Think: How Humans Learned to See the Future — and Shape it I hadn't given this any thought. It is a fascinating read and looks at what makes the human mind so unique and also explores the three leaps in our history that made us who we are—and will change how you think about our future.Clearly, we humans are radically different from the other creatures on this planet. But why?Byron argues that we owe our special status to our ability to imagine the future and recall the past, escaping the perpetual present that all other living creatures are trapped in.Envisioning human history as the development of a societal superorganism he names Agora, Reese shows us how this escape enabled us to share knowledge on an unprecedented scale, to predict—and eventually master—the future.Thoughtful, witty, and compulsively readable, Reese unravels our history as an intelligent species in three acts:Act I: Ancient humans undergo “the awakening,” developing the cognitive ability to mentally time-travel using languageAct II: In 17th century France, probability theory is born—a science for seeing into the future that we used to build the modern worldAct III: Beginning with the invention of the computer chip, humanity creates machines to gaze into the future with even more precision, overcoming the limits of our brainThe book is a fresh new look at the history and destiny of humanity, you will come away from Stories, Dice, and Rocks that Think with a new understanding of what they are—not just another animal, but a creature with a mastery of time itself. We also discussed:What is a Futurist? Why Byron wrote the bookThe structure of the book into 3 actsPascal's 1654 moment on reasoning & ProbabilityHuman brain capacity in 1654 vs nowThe 21 told storiesThe power of storytellingAre we being overloaded with stories? What about "fake news" and untrue stories?Act 3: The rocks that thinkWhat will the next 50 years look like?Where will AI help us innovate? The half-life of a job2001: A Space OdysseyActionable advice for predicting your futureMore on ByronByron's websiteByron on TwitterBuy the bookYour Host: Actionable Futurist® Andrew GrillFor more on Andrew - what he speaks about and recent talks, please visit ActionableFuturist.com Andrew's Social ChannelsAndrew on LinkedIn@AndrewGrill on Twitter @Andrew.Grill on InstagramKeynote speeches ...
