“Extensive research reveals that only 10 percent of people possess the raw talent to manage,” writes Stephen Blandino. “And while there are clear differences between leading and managing, Gallup merges the two by defining a manager as ‘someone responsible for leading a team toward common objectives.'” Blandino goes on to say that while most people are not “natural leaders,” they can become “learned leaders.” In this episode of the Influence Podcast, I talk to him about learning to lead.

Quick Hits: Detroit Lions Officiating Analysis With Dean Blandino Welcome to the Detroit Lions Podcast, today's clip is from our 24-hour St. Jude charity broadcast in which we interviewed former NFL VP of officiating and current Fox Sports NFL Rules Analyst Dean Blandino. He gives us an inside view of the NFL and New England Patriots "Deflategate" scandal, the combining of the USFL and XFL spring football leagues, and spends some time discussing their approach to officiating transparency. We also discuss accountability for officials and how the new spring league could be used as a mechanism to help officials get better if they aren't performing up to standard. Blandino also goes into how officials can get certain calls wrong, missed, or worse, call penalties that didn't happen. He also addresses some specific calls that officials have gotten patently wrong in various Detroit Lions games. We also talk about how the line of scrimmage is being officiated this year and how much motion and holding are taking place in the NFL today. We also talk about the penalties assessed for pass interference and holding in the NFL and what it could mean if they were changed. Dean Blandino provides significant insights in this interview with the Detroit Lions Podcast.

Opening the show with a bold, nay, STUNNING gambit, Uncle Ted reveals an astonishing rebrand of RAA: Rams Are Awesome! Blindly following Ted's lead, we revel in Matty Staff's auspicious debut in a Ram's uni (dude bro posted the best QB rating of his damn career!). On the flip side, we reluctantly submerge our collective self back into the muck and shit of Roardom ... We marvel at the televised sideline humiliation of Poor Jeff Okudah, whose very public dressing down by his position coach will surely be enshrined in the NFL TV hall of fame ... We also speculate that tearing his achilles and missing the rest of the season (and possibly the rest of his career) may be the best thing that's happened to Poor Jeff in a while ... We express mild concern at the Roar's 4th quarter comeback, leavened by the probability that the 49s had stopped trying sometime near the middle of the 3rd quarter ... We welcome our first guest of the season, Air Low, who gallantly debased himself by watching the Lions - 49rs suckfest. Deano regales us with another chapter of his bowling odyssey (Blandino's learning to roll a hook, ya'll!) ... We conclude the episode with a solemn blowing of the Shroarfar, ushering in another Lions season that shall surely be written into the Book of Suck. Gmar chatima roara!
