Recently you heard me talk about the president's student loan proposal, and you know that I strongly oppose the president's debt forgiveness plan. But all that said, there's no question that too many people owe too much money to student loans, and this dilemma is creating too much of a burden on them, as well as on our society overall, and our economy. So there's no question we do need to fix this situation. We do need to take action. But the loan forgiveness program proposed by the president isn't the right way to go about it; loan forgiveness should be offered, but for far fewer people, not 43 million who earn as much as a quarter of a million dollars each year.I'm really excited to bring on a very special guest to the program, my good friend Bob Pisani. You know him well. He's the senior markets correspondent for CNBC and he's just written a brand new book, Shut Up And Keep Talking: Lessons on Life and Investing from the Floor of the New York Stock Exchange. The book is out October 18. You can buy it right now on Amazon or your favorite bookseller. One of the things that we all kind of face with hesitation is our retirement. I mean, sure, we're going to age. We're going to eventually leave our job. It might be voluntary. On the other hand, it may be forced. Either way, we're facing one of the most radical lifestyle changes of our entire lives. I mean, think back to the last time you had such a radical change in lifestyle. Getting married certainly was one. Moving to a new home - that's a biggie. Having children - for sure. Getting a new job - that was a big one. But when's the last time any of those happened? Maybe decades ago. Well, now you're on the cusp of facing another lifestyle change: leaving your employment. And some folks enter this with the attitude of saying, my goodness, the best years of my life are behind me. I'm looking at a void. I'm looking at loss. What does this mean for my future? Is life over? And what am I going to be facing? Well, I've got two stories for you to demonstrate that life is just beginning as you age. Carl Quintanilla, Jim Cramer and David Faber began a new week with a look at tech stocks under pressure, after Citi downgraded Facebook and Google parent Alphabet to neutral. But that news didn't stop the Dow from hitting a new all-time intraday high -- as money rotates out of tech into industrials and other sectors. The anchors reacted to what ARK CEO Cathie Wood told CNBC about how such rotation has taken a toll on the performance of her firm's Innovation ETF. Elon Musk's mention of Dogecoin during his appearance on Saturday Night Live sent the cryptocurrency plummeting -- at one point losing more than a third of its value on Sunday. The anchors explored the upward momentum in Ethereum, as well as the mindset of the Robinhood cohort/new group of investors -- what they're buying and what they're shunning. Also in focus: Oil prices react to Friday's cybersecurity attack on the Colonial Pipeline – the country's largest fuel pipeline, and earnings winners and losers including Marriott and what the hotel giant is saying about its quarterly results and booking demand amid the pandemic. CNBC returns to the NYSE for the first time since the pandemic began. At the "Big Board", Bob Pisani interviewed NYSE President Stacey Cunningham about the exchange adjusting its COVID health and safety protocols -- easing restrictions on the trading floor and welcoming the return of media outlets.

I explain in simplified terms exactly what happened with Gamestop, r/WallStreetBets, the stock market, manipulation, and hedge funds. This stuff is really crazy and I think everyone should be paying attention to this. It's blatant corruption and pulls open a door to the uber wealthy and the game they play. Establishment will always side with the wealthy. According to the media: Hedge fund investors bet on a short sale and hope to tank a company = good Regular people use this public knowledge to make an investment = bad What was happening - Here's how the mechanics work for hedge funds: A short seller borrows shares from a broker. The short seller then sells those shares. They then wait for the stock's price to fall. They buy the stock back to return to the lender – ideally, at a lower price than they sold. The Jim Cramer video I was referencing (I actually can't believe they kept it up) - source "In March 2007, a December 2006 interview from TheStreet.com's "Wall Street Confidential" webcast stirred controversy after it appeared on YouTube.com. In the video, Cramer described activities used by hedge fund managers to manipulate stock prices - some of debatable legality and others illegal. He described how he could push stocks higher or lower with as little as $5 million in capital when he was running his hedge fund. Cramer said, "A lot of times when I was short at my hedge fund...When I was positioned short-meaning I needed it down-I would create a level of activity beforehand that could drive the futures." He also encouraged hedge funds to engage in this type of activity because it is "a very quick way to make money"." "Cramer stated that everything he did was legal, but that illegal activity is common in the hedge fund industry as well. He also stated that some hedge fund managers spread false rumors to drive a stock down: "What's important when you are in that hedge-fund mode is to not do anything remotely truthful because the truth is so against your view, that it's important to create a new truth, to develop a fiction." Cramer described a variety of tactics that hedge fund managers use to affect a stock's price. Cramer said that one strategy to keep a stock price down is to spread false rumors to reporters he described as "the Pisanis of the world". The comment was a reference to CNBC correspondent Bob Pisani, who reports from the trading floor of the New York Stock Exchange. "You have to use these guys," said Cramer. He also discussed giving information to "the bozo reporter from The Wall Street Journal" to get an article published. Cramer said this practice, although illegal, is easy to do "because the SEC doesn't understand it." During the interview Cramer referred to himself as a "banking class hero.""
