Internal conflict could oust two of the Democratic National Committee's newest, youngest leaders with bold yet different visions for the future of the party. A procedural complaint will result in a revote for two vice chair positions currently filled by Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta, the first openly LGBTQ elected official of color to serve in the commonwealth, and David Hogg, the prominent Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting survivor and activist. Hogg alleges the revote is retaliation for the separate $20 million initiative he's leading to challenge incumbent Democrats in their “safe blue” primaries, according to Politico. Rep. Kenyatta alleges it isn't true. This week, Katelyn and Christine demystify the Democrats' internal machinations with Rep. Kenyatta. If reelected, Rep. Kenyatta says he wants to win back Democratic voters without sacrificing abortion rights, trans folks, and disabled people, as other elected Democrats have been willing to do in the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election. Dom Giordano, WPHT host and former teacher, has dedicated much of his daily show toward parents who are taking it into their own hands to push back against school boards that have a negative impact on their children. This has culminated in a weekly podcast on education, Readin', Writin', and Reason, which has allowed wonderful relationships to develop between Giordano, educators, and parents throughout the country who are speaking out against overbearing school boards. First, Dom welcomes in State Representative Martina White to discuss the aforementioned bill authored by Malcolm Kenyatta that would require doctors to perform gender affirming care in Pennsylvania. Martina tells us all about the bill, noting the danger that comes with it, explaining even if a doctor does not think it'd be a good idea for a child or disagrees for religious reasons, that doctor could be at risk of losing their ability to practice. Then, Dom welcomes back Beth Ann Rosica, writer at Broad and Liberty, to hear her reaction to Randi Weingarten's hearing in front of a Congressional committee who will grill her, asking her questions about the decision to keep schools closed, resulting in detrimental effects to our country's youth. Beth Ann, who ran Back to School PA, an organization dedicated to re-opening schools throughout the pandemic, reminds the audience of the role of the teacher's unions in keeping schools closed, which runs counter to Weingarten's attempt to pass blame.

Full Hour | In today's second hour, Dom leads off the Dom Giordano Program by offering his thoughts on President Biden's reading of reporter names as he called on journalists for questions after announcing his presidency. Dom contrasts this with former Presidents and tells why this is a negative to lead off his Presidential chances. Then, Dom plays back a clip from The View's Whoopi Goldberg, who suggested that it's very clear in the bible that God wants gender-affirming care for minors. This leads Dom to replay some comments made this week in Harrisburg by Representative Emily Kinkead, who, along with a bill written by Malcolm Kenyatta, suggested that doctors should be held accountable if they refuse to offer gender affirming care for minors. EPISODE 60: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Did Trump steal the classified documents not for selling or espionage or kleptomania but as Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free cards? (4:06) New Washington Post reporting informs us that besides the document describing another country's nuclear capabilities, Trump took one about Iranian missiles, another about intelligence efforts against China, and materials that would expose U.S. intelligence methods or agents, or expose this country to retaliation. These are conceivably capital crimes and maybe he thought having the documents - or copies - was his insurance (6:11) Trump fixated again on leaks over the weekend (7:04) And proposed getting leakers to confess by threatening them with rape in prison (8:19) The fascination with the leak, not the crime, extends to Trump's prostitutes like Jonathan Turley who invoke the "No Electoral Interference" unwritten law, which died six years ago this Friday at the hands of James Comey (10:12) The FBI and DOJ should be worried about Trump's plans to send goon squads to voting stations, starting in Philly, and contesting every close election (11:00) The good news is: the 1/6 Committee decision to subpoena Trump gave Nancy Pelosi the chance to make ANOTHER great joke at his expense (and gave me a chance to make an even better one!) B-BLOCK (15:31) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Eamon in New York. (16:30) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Tucker Carlson threatens a Congressman on behalf of his failson Buckley Carlson (is his nickname Buckles?), Antisemites above the 405, Kanye insists Adidas can't drop him - so we'll have to boycott other athletes associated with Adidas, Jenna Ellis joins the surge in antisemitism, why is Centcom still helping Saudi Arabia, and Boris Johnson goes away (24:55) IN SPORTS: Yankees swept, Padres send themselves home early, oooh boy the World Series is...a reunion of the 1980 NLCS? (27:16) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The Canadian Freedom Convey's impact on kids with cancer, competing with professional self-owner Matt Walsh-Blog and El Douche' himself for the honors. C-BLOCK (30:13) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Ever watched a movie and there was a scene that seemed taken directly from your own life? It happened to me with "A Christmas Story." When Little Ralphie loses his mind and nearly kills the bully? I did that. But I had a reunion with the bully a scant 43 years later!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta came up short in the US Senate primary, but he has not slowed down. He takes a break from long days and late nights crisscrossing the Commonwealth to share what he is hearing and what he is planning for the weeks ahead.
Topic: Representative Malcolm Kenyatta - Pennsylvania State Representative for the 181st district – joins Dr. Nii-Quartelai Quartey for a conversation about midterm elections and his latest efforts to call out MAGA Republicans. Bio: Representative Malcolm Kenyatta currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Philadelphia Delegation, as a member of the Governor's Task Force on Suicide Prevention, and on a host of committee leadership positions. As the first openly LGBTQ+ person of color and one of the youngest members elected to the PA General Assembly, he is deeply committed to creating an equitable and inclusive society. As a legislator, he has championed proposals to address generational poverty, raise the minimum wage, protect workers' rights, increase access to mental healthcare, stem the rise of gun violence, and protect our digital infrastructure. In 2016 and in 2020, he was elected as Delegate to the Democratic Convention, both times garnering the second-highest vote total of any delegate in the Commonwealth. He has also appeared on local and national media outlets to discuss systemic poverty, affordable education and childcare, and making government more accountable to citizens. He was the subject of an award-winning short documentary about his election run, ‘Going Forward' produced by Seven Knot Productions, which premiered on ‘The Atlantic Magazine Selects' in 2018. In 2020, he was chosen by President Joe Biden to give the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention along with a group of other ‘Rising Stars.' He was one of twenty Electoral College votes cast for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, in Harrisburg on December 14, 2020. Malcolm was deeply involved in fighting for his neighbors from a young age—as a community activist and junior block captain, a former board member of Smith Playground, and a leader of the Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. Malcolm lives in the same neighborhood he grew up in North Philadelphia with his partner, Dr. Matt.

In this bonus episode, Matt takes Sam on a tour of his native state, Pennsylvania, where a number of key primaries were held this week. The results brought some hopeful news: Lt. Gov. John Fetterman handily defeated State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta and (even better) Manchin-backed moderate Rep. Conor Lamb in the contest for the Democratic senate nomination. But it also revealed the madness that continues to grip the GOP: State Sen. Doug Mastriano, a January 6 marcher and election-fraud true believer, will be running for governor in November, and Dr. Oz, as of this writing, was clinging to a narrow lead in the race to take on Fetterman. Don't worry, though, it's not all punditry: the cuisines, strange regional dialects, and curious folkways of the virtuous commonwealth also are discussed. Then the episode turns to the fortunes of the Thiel tools: J.D. Vance and Blake Masters, both of whom are running for the Senate (Vance in Ohio and Masters in Arizona). The former won the Republican nod, and in come-from-behind fashion—how did he do it, especially after months of woke pundits dismissing his campaign? And what are Masters chances in August, when the Arizona GOP primary will be held?Subscribe to Know Your Enemy on Patreon to listen to this bonus episode, and all of our bonus content: https://www.patreon.com/knowyourenemy

PennFuture started this new podcast in February 2022 for one simple reason: to lift up voices in communities across Pennsylvania that are fighting against pollution, environmental injustice, and for healthy communities and people. Our goal on Environmental Voices: The PennFuture Podcast will be to tell the critically important environmental stories facing Pennsylvanians throughout all regions of the state. Large swaths of the state still, on a daily basis, suffer disproportionate impacts of dirty air and polluted water and we want this podcast to be a venue for those on the frontlines to share their stories. We also hope it will be an avenue to connect you with the work we're doing here at PennFuture: in the courtroom, at the State Capitol, and in your communities, to help protect our common environmental rights. Our guests for our first episode include:Melanie Meade, an environmental advocate from Clairton, Pa. who fights for clean air and a healthy environment in her community. Melanie is also involved in other important endeavors like the Black Appalachian Coalition, among others. We were thrilled to welcome Melanie as our first guest on our first podcast. State Rep. Donna Bullock, a representative from the 195th Legislative District in North and West Philadelphia, has served in the Pennsylvania General Assembly since 2015. In October, State Reps. Donna Bullock, Malcolm Kenyatta and Chris Rabb and Sen. Vincent Hughes introduced legislation that would codify the Office of Environmental Justice and Environmental Justice Advisory Board — making them permanent, regardless of who is in the executive branch. The legislation will also increase transparency and public input before polluting facilities are built or expanded in overburdened communities. We were very happy that Rep. Bullock took some time to discuss this very important legislation with us. Emily Gale, PennFuture's Director of Civic Engagement, who spoke about the organization's work on non-partisan voter registration, as well as the program's recent expansion into Allegheny County.

For many of us, the past year has prompted a paradigm shift in how we think about our community, our economy, and even our democracy. This week, we hear from three people who have led the way in forging new ways of thinking about the world around us. Hillary talks to Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson about how a rigid hierarchy of caste in the United States has shaped—and warped—our society. She also speaks with Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code, who is working hard to change the way our country values women’s work. And she checks in with Pennsylvania State Representative and U.S. Senate candidate Malcolm Kenyatta, who is part of a generation of young people changing the face of politics in this country. Isabel Wilkerson’s first book, The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration, won numerous awards and her newest book, Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, is being adapted into a feature film with Netflix. Reshma Saujani is the founder and CEO of Girls Who Code, a nonprofit working to close the gender gap in technology. She is the author of the bestselling books Brave, Not Perfect and Girls Who Code: Learn the Code and Change the World. Reshma is also the host of the award-winning podcast Brave, Not Perfect. Diversity Matters with Oscar Holmes IV Season 2 Episode 3 Episode Title: Politics in the 21st Century Guest: Honorable Representative Malcolm Kenyatta Diversity Matters with Oscar Holmes IV is a podcast that explores all things diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) related. In each episode, Oscar and his guests have lively discussions around DEI topics, explore the latest research on the topic, and discuss the implications so that listeners will be more knowledgeable about the topics and be able to apply the insights to their lives. Show Summary: Pain can either make you or break you. It helps you become the better or worse version of yourself. But in most cases, pain is a driving force for a person to be who he wants to be, embody his aspirations in life, and become an instrument of change. Malcolm Kenyatta, a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives representing the great District 181, sincerely believes that people who experience pain and failures because of the system are the ones who should be in politics to drive the change that everybody deserves. His childhood experiences serve as his motivation to get involved in politics, serve truthfully and create a better government for the present and future generation. Listen until the end to get to know him more and understand why he's deserving of your support. 3 Exceptional Highlights: Here's the problem with our primary system. Most of the districts are solidly blue or solidly red. That means that most elected officials only have to be responsive to the most extreme voices in their particular party. I think when you spend the whole time focused on just climbing a ladder, the altitude does something to your brain. I think in the Senate, we need people who are closest to the pain. We need to value lived experience, we need to have people who are experiencing the failures of our government, to be the ones who are going to drive the change. Show Highlights: Who is Malcolm Kenyatta beyond a professional bio? 3:14 Malcolm I grew up in an incredibly working poor family and I was really upset about it. My parents got divorced when I was pretty young. And my mom took kids and I watched her work all the time, she was a home health care aide for most of her career. Have you always been interested in politics at a young age? 6:58 Malcolm I was eleven and I was living on this block, Woodstock Street. And I came home and I was complaining about stuff that I saw on the block. And without skipping a beat, my mom said, "If you care so much, go do something about it." So I ran for junior black captain. What advice would you give to people wanting to be a good person in politics? 23:30 Malcolm Well just tell the truth. It's really that simple. If you tell the truth all the time, then you never have to come up with some lie or recalibrate what you believe based on the moment. What would you say to the voters who may think your senate run is a bit premature at this stage? 26:20 Malcolm I don't have much to say other than I think that what we need right now is not folks who are committed to spending their lives in politics climbing the ladder. But what we need are good people who understand the issues on the ground, in the highest positions in our country. What is your assessment of our politics, on a state and national level? 40:22 Malcolm We are at a fundamental crossroads. What we do next, I believe, is for all the marbles. We did what we needed to do in terms of electing a new president winning both chambers by slim majorities. But there's a real movement that is underway on the non positive side, led by lies and disinformation and misinformation that wants to tear the country apart. On Tuesday, 8 people were killed in an anti-Asian, misogynist attack on three spas in Atlanta. Six of the eight people killed were Asian women. The killer was arrested. Cherokee County Sheriff’s Officer Capt. Jay Baker held a news conference on Wednesday and said that the shooter had a “sex addiction” and was just “having a bad day.” It was later revealed that Capt. Baker had been pushing anti-Asian t-shirts with the slogan: “COVID-19 imported virus from CHY-NA.” Philadelphia Councilmember Helen Gym called the shootings “the latest escalation in the nation’s history of systemic racism and violence against Asian immigrants, fostered by a culture of white supremacy and misogyny that has long devalued the lives of immigrants, Black women, and women of color.” See Helen Gym’s Twitter thread on history of AAPI organizing in Philly. Proud Boys leaders in four states were arrested this week. One of the four leaders arrested was Philadelphia native Zach Rehl. Rehl became a figurehead in the organization over the last three years. He was photographed at the insurrection leading the Proud Boys to the capitol and smoking a cigarette inside Senator Merkley’s office while wearing a Temple Owls schoolbag the whole time. This comes on the heels of a report of how federal, state and local agencies ignored the Proud Boys over the last four years while they were committing acts of political violence at Trump events and far right rallies. Deb Haaland was confirmed as the first Native American cabinet secretary. Haaland will lead the Department of the Interior - the department with a long and strained history with indigenous communities. The agency manages over 500 million acres of public land, much of it stolen from indigenous people. The agency also houses the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The filibuster appears to be on life-support as President Biden and key Democratic senators come out in reforming it. This prompted Mitch McConnell to throw a temper tantrum on the Senate Floor where he promised to go “scorched Earth,” and Democrats responded by saying that McConnell already went “scorched Earth.” Spain may become the first country to move to a four-day workweek. That follows the launch of a pilot project for companies in the country interested in the concept. Spain has a long history of leading on shorter working hours. Following a 44 day strike in Barcelona in 1919, for example, Spain became one of the first countries in Europe to move to an eight-hour day. As reported in the Guardian, “From New Zealand to Germany, the idea has been steadily gaining ground globally. Hailed by its proponents as a means to increase productivity, improve the mental health of workers and fight climate change, the proposal has taken on new significance as the pandemic sharpens issues around wellbeing, burnout and work-life balance.” The pilot program will see a reduction of working hours with no loss of salary or jobs. This won’t come as a surprise, but the Guardian reports that “The oil industry knew at least 50 years ago that air pollution from burning fossil fuels posed serious risks to human health, only to spend decades aggressively lobbying against clean air regulations.” Their report is based upon a pile of internal document obtained by the Guardian, including internal memos and reports. The CDC is exploring whether 3 feet of social distancing - instead of 6 feet - is safe for schools. The distancing guidelines are a key part of determining the most effective way to reopen schools while keeping students, faculty, staff, and the community safe. 21 states with Republican Attorneys General are suing the Biden administration for putting the kibosh on the Keystone XL pipelines. Moderna begins to study the safety and effectiveness of its vaccine for kids between the age of 6 months to 12 years old. The study will enroll about 6.750 children in the U.S. and Canada. Graduate Student Workers at Columbia University are on strike after failing to achieve their first contract after over two years of negotiations with the administration. Bucks County Assistant District Attorney Matt Weintraub was caught moonlighting as a Door Dash driver while working out of the District Attorney’s office. The Bucks County District Attorney only demoted from his position while the DA called it “an incredibly poor decision.” The Pennsylvania Capitol is scheduled to reopen to the public this Monday. It will be open to the public for the first time since the fall. Guests must wear masks unless you are Republican legislators who still don’t believe in the pandemic. The Commonwealth Foundation went in front of the House Commerce Committee last week and defended their positions on why there shouldn’t be a minimum wage. Representative’s Malcolm Kenyatta and John Galloway shut that nonsense down and forced the Commonwealth Foundation’s representative to explain that they support a zero dollar minimum wage. Two men were arrested this week for taking part in the assault on Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick during the January 6 insurrection. Sicknick later died from his injuries. And, once again, a Pennsylvanian was one of those arrested. Julian Khater, a 32 year old many from State College, was seen spraying bear spray directly into the face of Officer Sicknick during the assault. Yes, of course, Sen. Pat Toomey blocked a bill that would have prevented debt collectors from taking stimulus checks. When asked why he voted for the bill he blamed Democrats for not including it in the original bill and compromised with Republicans to pass a bill with 60 votes. He defended debt collectors and said it’s too late anyway as 90 million checks have already been sent to Americans. Way to stick up for working families. At the State Senate budget hearings yesterday, PASSHE Chancellor Dan Greenstein issued a threat. If his plans for reorganizing the 14 state-owned university system are not followed - including the mergers of three universities in the Northeast and three universities in the West - he told lawmakers: “I will be recommending to the board that we come back to the Senate next year with a legislative package to dissolve the state system.” Senator Joe Pittman of Indiana County, the home of IUP, said he would be happy to introduce the legislation. APSCUF President Jamie Martin said she was flooded with texts and emails from faculty who were watching the hearings. “It was reckless, at the very least it was reckless,” Martin told PennLive. NASA finally had a successful test of the Space Launch System or SLS rocket on Thursday. The SLS rocket is the one planned to be NASA’s workhorse for Artemis Moon missions. SpaceX’s launch of 60 Starlink Internet Satellites was seen over large areas of the Eastern U.S. including Central, PA and Bucks County. Some scientists now think that the large amount of water that flowed on Mars billions of years ago, may have become trapped in the planets outer crust. Rush Limbaugh died. That is all. Devastation in Texas as a climate change, supercharged winter storm causes loss of power and water for millions. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott doesn’t waste any time to blame green energy and frozen windmills for the crash of their power grid. That’s one way of trying to avoid accountability. Scratch the surface to expose the awful truth of the GOP death cult’s market fundamentalism and climate change denialism. Senator Ted Cruz from Texas stepped up to show how you take charge of a disaster and solve problems. He packed up his family and flew to Cancun, while leaving the family's poodle, named “Snowflake,” inside their freezing home. In more WTF Texas news, the Mayor of Colorado City, Texas Tim Boyd topped even Ted Cruz. When residents started posting to a community Facebook group in search of help and answers about power and water, the Mayor chimed in and said: “No one owes you or your family anything...I’m sick and tired of people looking for a damn handout.” Meanwhile, Texas-based reporters from the Texas Tribune and the Houston Chronicle, are exposing decades of deregulation, free market fundamentalism, and climate change denialism led directly to the current deadly crisis. Impeachment is over. And the Republicans voted to support insurrection and their Dear Leader. Nancy’s not letting go. After the Republicans gave Trump a free pass on sedition and inciting an insurrection in the nation’s Capitol, Nancy Pelosi announces plans for a 9/11-style commission to study the January 6 attack. In the latest move in the Divest from Police and Invest in Communities movement, the Los Angeles School Board cuts a third of its police force and reinvests in educating black students. According to the LA Times, “The unanimous decision comes after a yearlong campaign by students activists and community members to reimagine the school police force, which they maintain disproportionately targets Black and Latino children.” Let the campaign for the PA Senate begin! Last night, Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta announced that he will be running for the Democratic Party nomination for the U.S. Senate. Right out of the gate he’s got endorsements from the Philadelphia Federation for Teachers, the American Federation of Teachers, and the Working Families Party. Earlier this month, Lt. Gov. John Fetterman announced his campaign for the same office. It will be a battle for the soul of progressivism in the Democratic Primary. Yesterday was the deadline for Judicial Gerrymandering to make it onto the May Primary ballot, which it did not. Progressives in Pennsylvania are celebrating this victory and continuing the fight to make sure it stays off the November ballot. Harrisburg Area Community Colleges are organizing a union. This past Saturday, faculty members held rallies on the Lancaster and Harrisburg campuses. Full-time and adjunct faculty have been working with PSEA for over a year on their campaign. It’s impeachment week. House managers presented incredibly compelling and powerful arguments that Trump incited insurrection. Montgomery County PA’s own, Bruce Castor, told stories of his childhood and made sure everyone knew that Nebraska was a very judicial thinking place, during what was an embarrassing ramble of an opening argument. Amazon hired anti-union consultant to try to destroy unionizing efforts in a Bessemer, Alabama fulfillment center. The consultant, Russell Brown, runs the anti-union firm RWP Labor which specializes in “maintaining a union free workplace.” Brown is also president of the Koch funded anti-union think tank, the Center for Independent Employees. 5,800 workers at the Alabama Amazon fulfillment center received mail-in ballots last Monday. If the majority of workers vote for the union, it would become the first unionized Amazon workplace in the country. The union, Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union, RWDSU, also represents 12,000 poultry workers in Alabama. According to a report in Wired, reports of the safety protections won by the unionized RWDSU poultry workers led workers at Amazon to reach out to the union to help with their own organizing efforts. House Democrats and the Congressional Progressive Caucus fought to include raising the $15 minimum wage in the COVID relief package. PA Proud! Capital Region Stands Up and Pennsylvania Stands Up placed billboards around the Pennsylvania 10th Congressional District calling on Scott Perry to resign. The first week was a little rocky as archived video of Fetterman’s time as Mayor of Braddock circulated on social media. House and Senate Democrats continue their calls for an investigation into Senator Doug Mastriano’s role in the January 6th insurrection & for his expulsion from the Pennsylvania Senate. Pennsylvania House Republicans continue their voter fraud hearings and undermine the 2020 election. Pennsylvania Spotlight published a report this week highlighting House State Government Committee Chair Seth Grove’s role to undermine the 2020 election. Representative Grove is a board member with the American Legislative Exchange Council and he’s been working with ALEC and Koch Operatives to undermine the 2020 election since August 2019. Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta will be the Keynote speaker at today’s Gender and Sexual Minorities Conference at Kutztown University. 28 state legislators release a call to action for a People’s Budget. While praising much of Gov. Wolf’s new budget, the group writes that “as a Commonwealth, we need to reject austerity, wasteful spending and unstable revenue streams. We are guided by the urgent need to invest in people over big corporations. We believe any budget must focus on working people across the state and sthe systems and programs that can support workers to recuperate from this devastating pandemic that has touched all corners of our state.” Omar Ray is preparing to launch his campaign for Lehigh Valley County Commissioner on February 18 @ 7:00 pm. As a community activist and progressive, Ray hopes to be party of the Lehigh Valley’s growing list of progressive elected officials. This Fantastic Fellas Friday, we celebrate community activist and Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta. Pennsylvania is now said to be the state that will decide who the next United States President will be. Unfortunately, the Republicans in the state legislature tried to quietly create and control a new election “integrity” committee giving them power to investigate the November 3, 2020 election and empower them to subpoena witnesses a/k/a voters and documents and initiate legal filings. Integrity is defined as the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness and the state of being whole and undivided. It does not sound like the name of their committee fits their intent. Busted by Representative Kenyatta, Republicans are exposed for trying to steal the election for Donald Trump. Representative Kenyatta not only goes on MSNBC Rachel Maddow to expose this, but he defends his position in a heated legislature meeting. Upset that he is speaking the truth, the chairman tries, unsuccessfully, to have him removed from the chamber by security. We also reveal in Pennsylvania the issues with the mail-in ballot battle between both parties and how not using the required double envelope can disqualify your vote. I hope you enjoy the narratives, which explains what episodes are about, as well as the graphic attached to each episode, which I diligently search for to match each episode. We then get to hear from two of the keynote DNC speakers: first is Tennessee State Senator Raumesh Akbari on Marquida Bradshaw making history as the first black woman to be the nominee for a major party in a statewide race in Tennessee, followed by Congressman Malcolm Kenyatta on Black men, criminal justice, and Senator Kamala Harris.Executive Producer: Adell ColemanProducer: Brittany TempleDistributor: DCP EntertainmentFor additional content: makeitplain.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On November 6th, 2018, Malcolm Kenyatta became the first openly gay person of color elected to statewide office in Pennsylvania. In today's episode, we talk with Rep. Kenyatta about the challenges of the PA State House and about this work to help eliminate poverty in the state. And as an elected Democrat, we end by exploring some of the current 2020 presidential candidates and how he thinks the Dems could take back the White House.
Our guest this week is 26-year-old Malcolm Kenyatta, the senior coordinator of member engagement for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. Malcolm's job requires him to build and manage relationships with a diverse set of people from businesses all over the city and beyond and it's clearly a role he relishes. As a lifelong North Philadelphian, he not only has a passion for his own neighborhood, but truly understands the history and character of each section of the city and has an uncanny ability to make connections that are beneficial to both businesses and communities.
