Ellen Coyne and Jack Horgan-Jones join Hugh Linehan to look back on the week in politics:It was becoming clear towards the end of last week that protests over the price of fuel were coming. But the scale of what has unfolded seems to have caught the Government by surprise. Then there were missteps in the handling of the situation throughout the week. Now the battle lines have been drawn and positions have been given time and space to harden. Has the State's authority been undermined? Jack and Ellen take us inside a week of crisis for the country and the coalition. Some opposition politicians showed enthusiastic support for the protests in their early stages, but the mood has become much more cautious as the scale of the impact on daily life has become clear. Donald Trump has claimed the two-week Iran war ceasefire as a victory for the US. In reality, the outcome is anything but. Plus the panel pick their favourite Irish Times articles of the week, including the nuances of court reporting, Paris's anti-Emily in Paris movement and the childlike wonder inspired by the Artemis mission to the Moon. Two and a half weeks into the Nancy Guthrie disappearance, the investigation has been buried under a mountain of noise that shows no sign of clearing. At least one ransom communication has been confirmed fraudulent — leading to the federal arrest of a California man with no connection to the case. Additional ransom notes demanding cryptocurrency remain unverified. A live-broadcast detention near the border produced no charges. A SWAT raid two miles from the home produced no arrests. And the DNA evidence from a glove found miles from the crime scene — the lead that generated the most public hope — came back today with no CODIS match and no connection to the DNA recovered at the property. On True Crime Today, psychotherapist Shavaun Scott analyzes the psychological ecosystem of a contaminated case. Scott has worked in forensic mental health for over thirty years and understands what happens when chaos overwhelms an investigation from every direction. She examines the psychology of people who fabricate ransom demands in stranger kidnappings, the corrosive effect of evidence contamination on investigator morale and public confidence, and the psychological phenomenon of dramatic investigative action that produces zero results. She also addresses a dimension of the noise that rarely gets discussed: the chilling effect on real witnesses. When a person of interest is stopped, searched, and broadcast nationally — then cleared and released — what happens to the next person who might have genuine information but doesn't want their life turned inside out on camera? At what point does the volume of public participation tip from asset to liability? This is an examination of how noise, spectacle, and dysfunction can become the primary obstacles in a case where time is the one thing a missing 84-year-old woman doesn't have.#NancyGuthrie #SavannahGuthrie #GuthrieNoise #BungledEvidence #FalseTips #CaseContamination #ShavaunScott #TrueCrimeToday #HiddenKillers #TucsonCaseJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? And what does it mean with two GP’s and a sprint race remaining? Their disqualification elevates Kimi Antonelli to the podium and he did with a drive that was absolutely worthy of some silverware. Ferrari’s form wasn’t great and Liam Lawson’s lap one move reignited the Aussie vs Kiwi sporting rivalry. The list of suspects of who pulled the trigger is long and includes many familiar Port Charles faces including Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen), Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Drew's ex-fiancée, Willow, is under suspicion, as are mobsters, cops, and WSB spies. GH sees the shooter clearly intended to kill Drew, but who in Port Charles would be packing heat? Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) is, but he's got an alibi. The suspect list reads like a Port Charles phone book, with red flags surrounding Willow, Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), and Nina. Alexis and Nina's alibis seem dodgy to Detective Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard), making Nina look guiltier and Willow slightly less so. General Hospital sees other potential culprits include the Ashfords: Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr), Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner), and Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali). There's also the Corinthos family, Carly, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson), and Sonny, all of whom have reasons to want Drew out of the picture. The mobster Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota) and his son Marco Rios (Adrian Anchondo), who would benefit from Drew's silence, are top candidates for the shooting. But with the list of suspects growing, it looks like Port Charles is in for a classic whodunit.  The Soap Dirt podcast made the Top 100 List for Apple Podcast's Entertainment News Category. This week on the podcast: • Meredith provides listeners (and co-host Tess) with a more comprehensive update on Boredwalk's string of office burglaries. • Tess then shares the most recent dispatches from Trollsylvania, and since it's election season they're particularly bizarre and unhinged. • Tess cleanses the palate with a delightful review from customer Victoria regarding her copy of our 1990s activity book Whatever! • Tess then reads fan responses to the recent Question of the Day (pulled from the Delve Deck's Joy Edition expansion pack) "What is the best encounter you ever had with a stranger?" This yielded some wholesome and heartwarming stories before she & Meredith share their own answers!  • They then wrap up the episode trading answers to the questions "If you could make any one thing true, what would you pick?", "What's something people don't worry about but should?", and "What's your go-to footwear?" from the new Delve Deck beach balls! If you think the Delve Deck questions and the conversations they sparked sound fun, head over to Boredwalk.com and pick up sets of either the cards or beach balls for yourself! Episode 172 It has been over two years since Sony purchased Bungie for 3.6 billion dollars in an effort to bolster its live-service efforts, and the results have been...less than stellar. Now in the wake of mass layoffs, we take stock of where Bungie is as a studio and discuss why their crown jewel, Destiny, has lost much of its luster. We also discuss Bungie's now-uncertain future, and how Marathon may hold the key to their survival. Canadians are turning on the immigration system, with recent polling showing Canadians think immigration rates are too high. This is Justin Trudeau's fault, True North's Andrew Lawton says. By setting arbitrary targets and making virtue signalling the goal over a sensible, measured approach to immigration, Trudeau has let the system get out of control. Can it be fixed? Also, the federal government has given the health minister, right now Mark Holland, the right to override Health Canada and unilaterally ban some products based on harm concerns – with no need for study or legislation. David Clement of the Consumer Choice Center says Canadians should be concerned about this consolidation of power in one person's hands. He joins the show to explain why. Plus, leaders around the world are condemning the sham election in Venezuela that Nicolas Maduro claims re-elected him. Ana Rizo of the Ladies of Liberty Alliance joins to discuss what's happening and why it matters. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Historian Frank McDonough is joined by Rob Attar to explore one of the best-known moments in the early history of Hitler and the Nazis.
