Shabbat shalom podcast mafia. What a treat do we have in store for you today. With the absence of Johnny Hockey this week - Drew 'n Greg have been blessed with the presence of Mr. Lettuce himself, Cam Stefak. A living legend in his own right - Cam brought his talents back from Spain to join another threesome here in the states. Birds with a .350 win % in the month of June...JUNE GLOOM. A little pep in our step to start off July going 6-4 in our last 10 games. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Ovied...NO...what a blunder of a game on Tuesday night - blowing a 6-1 lead in the top of the 9th to ruin Oviedo's first chance at at his 1st career win. No need to fear...the Birds gutted out two gritty wins Wednesday and Thursday to defeat the Cubs 3-4 in the series. Chefboyerdee would like to attribute that little bump to his appearance at the game on Monday ("You're welcome everybody"). But seriously...with this lack of depth in the rotation and overused bullpen - do the Cards realistically stand a chance to make it to the top of the NL Central? Because the NL Wildcard seems like an even bigger stretch. Is Mr. Bowtie the issue? Who knows...hopefully Mr. Arenado knows what he was talking about during the All-Star game. We are all in for it...TIME TO BRING THE HEAT. (4:00-19:40) Someone call Owen Wilson & Vince Vaughn as mediators for Tarasenko and Doug Armstrong in this divorce...aycaramba...best bring your bibs 'cause this one could get messy. Not only do we have that on our hands, but we lost our boy Vince Dunn to the Kraken in the expansion draft. Cam "Air Hockey" Stefak gives his take on what that loss of Dunn does for the boys in blue (he's not, not happy) and what our future holds going into the draft and free agency. Could Army have a little trick up his sleeve to pull off a big acquisition?? Matthew Tkackuk? Gabriel Landeskog? All we know is that Dougie will do his best to make the St. Louis Blues the best team possible. BUT what we have to come to terms with is that if Tarasenko does not leave this year that Blues nation needs to come to terms that this year might be a setback year. Keep your fingers crossed and hope that Vlady is sent to Siberia. (20:01-34:34) To wrap up the show the gents discuss their favorite, famous mug shots and then top it off with the fan favorite segment: "Favorite #34 in sports history" - there's only one right now and that is THE GREEK FREAK! (39:36-54:42) As always...keep it sleazy podcast familia and don't do anything we wouldn't do. Now go and crush the weekend and get hungover just in time to ride that new high with our next episode next week! PEACE.

This is part one of a two part interview. Every single one of us has some sort of Campbell Soup story because the brand has at some point been there for us as children through our adult lives. In a complex FMCG business the soup business is not what it has been for the preceding 100 plus years. How we grow the ingredients, handle packaging and tin, make the product, distribute and position it are radically changing. A stalwart like soup becomes a great illustrator of the challenges all product-based companies face in an increasingly extremely personalized consumer world with a greater focus on not just the product but the whole production and environmental factors behind it. Stay tuned next week for part two of this interview.

Magie, whose birth name is Magdalena De La Cruz Cook-Garcia, is an immigrant who was born in an orphanage in Mexico. She grew up in poverty along with 68 brothers and sisters. She missed her opportunity to play basketball for the Mexican National Team because she broke her collarbone. Shortly after, she immigrated to the US on a basketball scholarship at the University of Charleston. After obtaining her college degree, and not being able to find a job, Magie became homeless and lived on the streets during a snowy winter. When someone recognized on the street, she was given a place to stay. A few weeks later, she entered a Fresh Salsa competition for the State of West Virginia and won unanimously. At this event, a man gave her $800 to start her business. Not knowing anything about business and with perseverance, she created Magie's All Natural Fresh Salsa's & Dips, a company that grew into a multi-million dollar business within 4 years and distributed products across 38 states to major supermarkets such as Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Whole Foods, and many more. At the height of its success in 2015, Maggie's Salsa sold to Campbell's Soup. The duo ponder if starting late in a career is doable and grabs inspiration from Viola Davis, Morgan Freeman, and Julia Childs. ALSO who is this James Arthur singer chap trying to steal OUR James' steez, Nnekay wants to KNOW. We start things off with Nnekay's Korner, this week she's covering the various types of protest pins celebs were sporting, and some of  the interesting political statements the commercials from New York Times, Audible, and GE made during the broadcast of the Oscars. In James' Korner he tackles if the oscars have truly moved on from #oscarssowhite. He also question the myth of the liberal media and if Hollywood's standards more open minded than what they portray themselves to be... hint... things aren't as rosy as we me all think. Amos 'n' Andy was officially transferred by NBC from the Blue Network to the Red Network in 1935, although the vast majority of stations carrying the show remained the same. Several months later, Gosden and Correll moved production of the show from NBC's Merchandise Mart studios in Chicago to Hollywood. After a long and successful run with Pepsodent, the program changed sponsors in 1938 to Campbell's Soup; because of Campbell's closer relationship with CBS, the series switched to that network on April 3, 1939.In 1943, after 4,091 episodes, the radio program went from a 15-minute CBS weekday dramatic serial to an NBC half-hour weekly comedy. While the five-a-week show often had a quiet, easygoing feeling, the new version was a full-fledged sitcom in the Hollywood sense, with a regular studio audience (for the first time in the show's history) and an orchestra. More outside actors, including many African American comedy professionals, were brought in to fill out the cast. Many of the half-hour programs were written by Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher, later the writing team behind Leave It To Beaver and The Munsters. In the new version, Amos became a peripheral character to the more dominant Andy and Kingfish duo, although Amos was still featured in the traditional Christmas show where he explains the Lord's Prayer to his daughter.THIS EPISODE:May 25, 1945. NBC network. Commercials deleted. Andy impersonates a sailor and is lucky enough to be the millionth visitor to the "Harlem Canteen." Harlow Wilcox (announcer), Freeman Gosden, Charles Correll. 27 minutes.

The Campbell Playhouse was a sponsored continuation of the Mercury Theater on the Air, a direct result of the instant publicity from the War of the Worlds panic. The switch occurred on December 9, 1938. In spite of using the same creative staff, the show had a different flavor under sponsorship, partially attributed to a guest star policy in place, which relegated the rest of the Mercury Players to supporting cast for Orson Welles and the Hollywood guest of the week. There was a growing schism between Welles, still reaping the rewards of his Halloween night notoriety, and his collaborator John Houseman, still in the producer's chair but feeling more like an employee than a partner. The writer, as during the unsponsored run, was Howard Koch.THIS EPISODE:January 6, 1939. CBS network. "Counselor At Law". Sponsored by: Campbell's Soup.
