Finally, a return to form (and schlock) with the Kaiju Hollywood Bad Boys Martin, Luke and Brandon having on special guest Rob Steinberg of Palette Swap fame to talk about the movie Demonic Toys. It's got bad dubbing, a slew of annoying one liners but most importantly, a scene with a magazine we absolutely hated! Great times to be listened to all around.

Welcome back to the I Hate Critics Movie Review Podcast! In this episode, we take a deep dive into the creepy world of horror films featuring murderous, malevolent creatures—be they possessed toys or a rampaging primate. The Monkey (2025) Osgood Perkins takes on Stephen King's short story in this chilling new horror film starring Theo James in a dual role as twin brothers haunted by a cursed toy monkey. Every time the monkey is wound up, gruesome deaths follow. With a stellar supporting cast that includes Tatiana Maslany, Adam Scott, and Elijah Wood, The Monkey brings a mix of supernatural horror and psychological tension. We break down how this adaptation stacks up against other Stephen King films and whether it delivers on its eerie premise. Demonic Toys (1992) Before The Monkey, the killer toy subgenre was already alive and well with Demonic Toys, a campy horror flick from Full Moon Features. The film follows a police officer trapped in a warehouse with sinister, possessed toys—including the horrifying Baby Oopsie Daisy and the deadly Grizzly Teddy. How does this low-budget horror flick hold up over 30 years later? We revisit the fun, the frights, and the absurdity. Shakma (1990) What's more terrifying than a haunted toy? How about an out-of-control, enraged baboon? Shakma is a lesser-known cult classic in which medical students are hunted by a rabid primate inside a research facility. It's a wild, chaotic, and absolutely bizarre horror-thriller. We discuss whether Shakma is a hidden gem or just another cheesy ‘90s horror flick. Join us as we dissect these horror films, share our thoughts on killer monkeys and possessed toys, and, of course, rant about the state of modern horror. Tis the season to... buy merch? This week we're talking about Full Moon's only Christmas "film," THE 12 SLAYS OF CHRISTMAS, a compilation of old Full Moon flicks that just so happens to also function as an ad for the Tiny Terrors toy line. We're joined by Mr. Christmas himself, Chris Antista, who lends his expertise into holiday specials to see where this flick lands in the canon. Then, as an extra treat, we're dipping back into the toy chest for the stand-alone feature DEMONIC TOYS: JACK-ATTACK, in which the titular jack-in-the-box takes center stage for a solo adventure. Why Full Moon didn't do a compilation called Short Movies For Short Monsters, we may never know, but if Chucky Band wants to get in on that IP, he has our number. And if he does come to his senses, we just know he'll kick off his comp with 1993's DOLLMAN VS. DEMONIC TOYS. Coming in at a diminutive 64 minute runtime, with at least half of the scenes pulled from DOLLMAN (1991), DEMONIC TOYS (1992) and BAD CHANNELS (1992), this is barely a feature film, but at least it doesn't overstay its welcome. Get down on our level and see what a foot-high alien cop does when a foul-mouthed baby doll tries to have its way with his girlfriend (also one foot tall). It's all very confusing. On our show, "Howling At The Full Moon", we're going with something a little on the controversial side of things with a film that is highly contested by many Full Moon fans deep from within the Paramount days with our 35th episode and the 1993 effort "DOLLMAN VS DEMONIC TOYS." Directed by Charles Band himself and starring Tim Thomerson, Tracey Scoggins, Melissa Behr and Phil Fondacaro. Dollman vs Demonic Toys was the huge super-ultra-mega crossover flick that tied up some loose ends from Dollman, Bad Channels, and Demonic Toys. Some feel this was the greatest crossover event in the history of film and others...not so much. Join our discussion headed off by our regular hosts Cameron Scott and Full Moon enthusiast Dustin Hubbard as they debate and talk about their general love for this movie. "Pop goes the weasel."
Episode #118: This week, Steven and Leo shrink down and size to fight Dollman vs Demonic Toys, and they've phoned a friend to join them! In our first episode of our new show we reminisce about video stores and breakdown the 90s classic Demonic Toys Movie discussion starts at - 14:55
Last year was supposed to be the end of Halloween. It would have been the worst possible way for the celebrated franchise to end, but it was time for it to go away - at least for a lonnnnnng time. Hollywood is never afraid to keep recycling ideas, so we start the show with a talk about the future of the series.Netflix has been a major player in the streaming wars from the beginning. What few remember and even fewer know is that it got it start as a DVD rental company with a novel idea. As that era ends, we reminisce about the early days of Netflix and the internet in general.Video Nasties are an important part of horror history. A list of movies that were deemed as obscene and morally irrelevant were soon banned and their distribution became criminal. It was not until the end of the 20th century that the laws relaxed, if ever so slightly.Killer Nun is an interesting inclusion. There are enough scenes that justify the decision to place it on the list, but it stands our from the rest. Less over the top and gory, the plot is based on true events. The mix of outrageous moments and grounded storytelling gave us plenty to talk about.Full Moon Features is responsible for some of the most loved and disregarded franchises. One of the most overrated is the Demonic Toys series. We talk the latest addition and wonder what appeal it will have to modern audiences.Adventures in Movies! is a part of the Morbidly Beautiful Podcast Network. Another of Full Moon's HP Lovecraft adaptations, LURKING FEAR tends to get forgotten in the shadow of the Stuart Gordon trilogy, but this fun genre mash-up has a lot to like. With plenty of genre stars (including Vincent Schiavelli, Jon Finch, Ashley Laurence, and Jeffrey Combs), the story melds a hostage flick with supernatural horror as a skeleton crew of survivors hole up in a cemetery to fight a violent creature stalking the graves. On our show, "Howling At The Full Moon", we're heading back to Toulon's lab for some more puppet/doll shenanigans with our 29th episode and deep diving into the SyFy Channel made for TV 2004 effort "PUPPET MASTER VS DEMONIC TOYS". Directed by Ted Nicolaou and featuring Corey Feldman as a descendant of Andre Toulon and Vanessa Angel as his adversary. This movie is not a Charles Band production per se; as it was produced for SyFy outside of Full Moon proper but it still filled with all of the puppets and toys that we've all come to know and love. It's Baby Oopsie VS Blade and the rest of their respective hordes...but is it as epic as it all sounds? Join us to find out! The Spin Chagrin, a concept that finds Frank having to watch a movie he's never seen before based on the random spin of a wheel filled with off-the-wall genres, continues into a new year. On this edition of Parallax Views, the independent genre film factory that is Charles Band's long running Full Moon Features has a quirky new sci-fi/fantasy adventure on the horizon that's of, shall we say, epic proportions. Although Full Moon's known for serving up pint-sized mayhem with such franchises as Puppet Master and Demonic Toys, they're going BIG this time around with Attack of the 50 Ft. Camgirl! A riff on the immortal 1958 B-movie classic Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman, the film that may have created a million giantess fetishists w/ it's buxom star Allison Hayes, puts an Instagram influencer twist on the often-told science fiction tale of the gargantuan beauty run amuck and even features a showdown between not one but two glamorous Godzilla-sized gals. Joining me to discuss Full Moon's latest sci-fi/fantasy romp, are director Jim Wynorski and star Ivy Smith, making her acting debut as the titular 50 ft camgirl! First up is Ivy Smith, who talks a little bit about the film, the story of it, how she got into modeling, how she ended up as the 50 ft camgirl, the anxiety that comes with doing a nude scene, destroying miniatures in the climatic showdown of the giantesses, getting rude messages from men asking her to step on them (if you want to do that send money!) and working with director Jim Wynorski, producer Charles Band, and actresses Christine Nyugen and Lisa London among other things! Then, Jim Wynorksi comes on the program and chastisize me a bit for asking questions that aren't stupid enough. We talk about how Attack of the 50 ft Camgirl came to be, what he learned from maverick exploitation producer Roger Corman, why men are into the giantess fetish, his friendship with Traci Lords (who made her non-adult debut in Jim's 1988 remake of Not of This Earth), the legendary character of Orville Ketchum in Jim's cult classics Sorority House Massacre II and its sequel Hard to Die (as well as the interesting details on how those films got made!), Jim's sense of humor, how my original questions bored him to tears, his upcoming feature Bigfoot or Bust, working with Stormy Daniels and why he didn't like that experience, and more! All in all this is one of the sillier and weirder episodes of Parallax Views I've done to date! Many thanks to Chris Alexander and Full Moon Features for making it happen! And if any of my listeners are in Dallas, be sure to stop by Texas Frightmare Weekend where you can see the premiere of Attack of the 50ft Camgirl and meet both Full Moon head honcho Charles Bad and the beautiful, talented Ivy Smith (Friday only for Ivy!)! And be sure to check out Ivy Smith's Facebook page
