Send us a message, so we know what you're thinking!Just because you're successful doesn't mean everyone likes you. In fact, success can often draw criticisms that might not be given to other performers. In Australia, we call that the “Tall Poppy Syndrome”, where people look for reasons to bring successful people down! We look at some criticisms (not by us - mainly!), of highly successful artists and try to find a reason for them. This month seems to have a host of rock star deaths! In Knockin' on Heaven's Door, we mourn the passing of David Lynn Thomas of post-punk group Pere Ubu; Drew Zingg, an American blues and soul guitarist, best known for work with Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs; Joey Molland from Badfinger, and Richard Chamberlain, of Dr Kildare, Shōgun & The Thorn Birds. Our “Album You Must Hear before You Die” is Bob Marley and the Wailers' “Catch a Fire”, a landmark album that established reggae as a musical force, influencing such artists as The Clash, The Police, UB40 and Eric Clapton. datum: 29 april 2025 gasten: Alex Agnew en Sven De Ridder Op 29 maart 2025 overleed de Amerikaanse acteur Richard Chamberlain.

Good Morning, Queers and Weirdos! — The Richard Chamberlain EpisodeThis week, we're diving deep into the glittering, dramatic, and fiercely private world of one of Hollywood's most iconic heartthrobs—Richard Chamberlain. He was the dreamy Dr. Kildare, the king of the miniseries, a swashbuckling movie star, and—surprise—he could sing, too. But behind all that stardom was a man living a hidden truth in an industry that made no space for openly queer leading men.Join us as Gary shares his long-time crush and personal reflections on growing up watching Chamberlain, while Holly explores his lasting impact on queer culture. From The Thorn Birds to Shogun, The Three Musketeers to The Slipper and the Rose, we celebrate the art and complexity of a man who gave the world beauty, drama, and, eventually, his truth.
Richard Chamberlain, who died on March 29, 2025 two days before his 91st birthday, in conversation with host Richard Wolinsky, recorded June 10, 2003 while on tour for his memoir, Shattered Love. Richard Chamberlain achieved fame as the heart-throb star of the 1960s medical drama Doctor Kildare, and went on to a successful career as an actor in the TV miniseries The Thorn Birds and the original Shogun, as well as the Richard Lester Three Musketeers films and Peter Weir's The Last Wave, as well as other TV series and films. He also was on the Broadway stage in a revival of My Fair Lady, and toured with several shows. In 2003, he chose to come out of the closet in his memoir, Shattered Love, in which he discussed his years of self-loathing and his later spiritual awakening. The interview concludes with a discussion of the political scene in 2003, which bears a clear relationship with what is happening in Washington D.C. today. This interview has never been heard in its entirety. The post Richard Chamberlain (1934-2025), “Shattered Love,” a memoir, 2003 appeared first on KPFA.

RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot open Episode 328 with some REO Speedwagon, a Morgan Wallen SNL debacle, and—sadly—no area code trivia. But it's all prelude to a full-on Mariners therapy session, as Mitch wonders why Gino Suárez and Teoscar Hernández are thriving elsewhere while the M's bats look like they're still in spring training. He also recalls a moment in a locker room with George Foreman that changed how he views leadership. First up: it's the Mariners No-Table with Brady Farkas (SI Now, Refuse to Lose Pod) and Joe Doyle (Over Slot). The crew breaks down the split with the A's, early warning signs with Julio, what Dan Wilson got wrong as manager, and whether this offense truly has enough talent to support the elite rotation. Then Danny Kelly of The Ringer joins to explain why all the top mock drafts have Seattle passing on offensive linemen at pick 18—and why fans might want to prepare for a linebacker, receiver, or safety instead. He also breaks down how the Seahawks could approach the quarterback class on Day 2. Finally, Jason La Canfora weighs in on the Seahawks' offseason: Is Sam Darnold a long-term solution or just Geno 2.0? Why does John Schneider refuse to spend on O-linemen? And which position group is so deep this year, every team could draft one? Certainly a group of moochers thought it would be a good idea for "Dr. Kildare" to separate his fans from their money with badly produced records. Ouch.
