Get ready to fall in love....the wrong way! Vision Films presents the hilarious new romantic comedy, THE WAY WE WEREN’T Available on DVD/VOD on February 12, 2019 Vision Films, DiMuccio Entertainment Syndicate, Bella Pictures and Epic Entertainment Enterprises are delighted to present the laugh-out-loud comedy about the lies we tell for love, The Way We Weren’t. Shedding a light on the hilarity at which we change ourselves in order to make ourselves more attractive as a potential partner, this feel-good, romantic comedy directed by Rick Hays took away top honors at the 2018 Portland Comedy Film Festival with it’s refreshing, new take on the story of a mismatched couple. Starring Fiona Gubelmann (The Good Doctor, Wilfred, One Day at a Time) and Ben Lawson (The Good Place, 13 Reasons Why, Designated Survivor) as the picture perfect, but ill-fated couple, and featuring Amber Stevens West (Greek, The Amazing Spider-Man), Keith Powell (30 Rock, Syrup), Tobin Bell (Saw, The Flash) and Alyssa Diaz (The Rookie, Ray Donovan), The Way We Weren’t tells the tale of two people meet just after their previous relationships have imploded and in an effort to make themselves more appealing, exaggerate, fib and outright lie. When they move in together, the deception unravels with the most amusing and spectacular of ways. The Way We Weren’t will be available on DVD and VOD just in time for Valentine’s Day on February 12, 2019. Since meeting online, Charlotte (Fiona Gubelmann) and Brandon (Ben Lawson) have fudged, padded, glossed over, reimagined, and outright lied about everything in an attempt to be each other’s perfect match. But despite overcoming all the obstacles there’s one thing their 10-day-old marriage might not survive...each other! After they said their “I dos” the fronting is about to end and they’re going to get a hilarious, hellish and surprising look at just who they’ve vowed to spend the rest of their lives with. Will familiarity breed contempt... or bliss? Writer/producer Brian DiMuccio explains that the inspiration for The Way We Weren’t actually came from an experience he had in the early 2000’s. “We met one week before she moved to Spain for a year for work and our getting-to-know-you period wasn't unlike Charlotte and Brandon's in the movie,” he says. “We both gave into the temptation to present heavily idealized versions of ourselves that lead to some disillusionment when she moved back to LA. Our story ended badly but as they say, tragedy plus time equals comedy!” “We hope that people come away from the film remembering that being in love, even when it's messy, maddening, and feels like a sucker-punch to the heart, is always grand!” DiMuccio continues. “And it’s infinitely better than the alternative”. “Brandon’s problem is an inability to commit to even the simplest things in life”, Ben Lawson explains of his character. “His come-to-Jesus moment is that if he’s ever going to find happiness he needs to face this commitment phobia...and what better way to do that than to marry the next person he meets!” “I think most people in this modern era of dating and social media can relate to having too many options and the fear of missing out on something better,” Lawson continues. “ I think it’s true that at a point you need to block out all the noise and channel your efforts into one thing, one person, one endeavor, whatever it is. In France they say “le mieux est l’ennemi du bien” The best is the enemy of the good. I think once we accept that there’s always going to be something better, that even when we achieve our goals we immediately set new ones, we can begin to enjoy what we have and allow ourselves some happiness”. “The Way We Weren’t is the perfect romantic comedy to release on Valentine’s Day for all us who can’t seem to find the perfect match, or… maybe our “perfect” match is not perfect, and then this is what makes him or her just perfect”, says Lise Romanoff, CEO/Managing Director of Vision Films. Chilean filmmaker Fernando Guzzoni is a poet. His film Jesús is a powerful coming of age film with a different bent. Inspired by a true event Fernando writes to slash your viser off your face. Jesús is raw, real, beautiful, and devastating. This is the story about boy that mirrors the Chile of today and the cities we all live in. Fernando is a profound thinker and cares about a lot of things. In this work he etches a journey of tragedy all wrapped up in free love, innocence, immaturity, base behavior, repentance, treason, defeat. He doesn’t make it pretty, but he does bring us his voice with respect and courage. Theatrical roll-out of Jesús begins September 1 in New York and follows a DVD/VOD on September 19. See his other two works, La Colorina and Carne de Perro (Dog Flesh). #FernandoGuzzoni #Jesus #LaColorina #DogFlesh CinemaTropical #NFAND

Were there any unanimous picks? Tune in and find out! This episode is brought to you by THE RAKING, now available on DVD/VOD from Midnight Releasing (https://www.facebook.com/MidnightReleasing/) !
Opening Theatrically on June 17th: Los Angeles, Laemmle Music Hall Wolfe Video Presents PARCHED Written and Directed by Leena Yadav 116 min * India * 2015 * Drama * Hindi & English WATCH THE TRAILER: Trailer: https://vimeo.com/162697988 'Should resonate with audiences worldwide.' - VARIETY 'The lead actresses deliver a trio of clearly committed performances.' - THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER Indian drama PARCHED, from writer/director Leena Yadav (one of the leading female directors in India), will open theatrically on Friday, June 17th in Los Angeles (Laemmle Music Hall), New York (AMC Empire 25), and the Bay Area (Cine Grand in Fremont and Camera 12 in San Jose). This award-winning film is an evocative, vibrant drama of a three rural Indian women who begin to question the ancient traditions that hold them in servitude. One fateful night, the women come together and take a bold step that will change the trajectory of their lives forever. In a remote desert community of North West India -widowed Rani (Tannishtha Chatterjee, acclaimed for her starring role in Siddharth), her vivacious best friend Lajjo (Radhika Apte), and the erotic dancer Bijli (Surveen Chawla) - unapologetically talk about men, sex and life as they struggle under the oppressive rules of their traditional village ways. But when Rani is tasked to find a teenage bride for her entitled fifteen-year-old son, they begin to question this status quo that favors men, sends child brides to abusive husbands, and ostracizes women for being educated and opinionated. With a bold visual confidence, filmmaker Yadav combines the stark realism of hostile desert landscapes with a Bollywood palette, vibrant tones that celebrate the unleashing of the women's repressed sensuality and dreams. Beautifully shot by Academy Award-winning cinematographer Russell Carpenter (Titanic), PARCHED elevates these women's heartfelt stories, transforming their struggles into a stirring portrayal of liberation. Said writer/director Leena Yadav, "I was raised to judge and treat people as human beings above and beyond their gender, religion or caste. This story is my reaction to a misogynistic society that treats women as objects of sex, where their greatest role is to serve men. Giving my women characters a voice that observes, absorbs and reacts was what drove me to write this drama about ordinary women who are driven to extraordinary ends." Written, Directed and Produced by: Leena Yadav Cinematographer: Russell Carpenter (Titanic) Starring: Lehar Khan, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Surveen Chawla, Radhika Apte Distributed by: Wolfe Releasing PARCHED opens theatrically via Wolfe Releasing on June 17th in Los Angeles (Laemmle Music Hall), New York (AMC Empire 25) and the Bay Area (Cine Grand in Fremont and Camera 12 in San Jose). The film will also be released via Wolfe Video on August 9th on DVD / VOD, across all digital platforms including iTunes, Vimeo On Demand, and WolfeOnDemand.com, and will also be available same date on DVD via Wolfe Video and many major retailers. ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Born in Mhow, India, Leena Yadav is one of a vanguard of successful contemporary female directors working in India. She began her career as a successful editor on commercials and an assistant director for television, and then went on to direct for than 300 hours of television, including hit fiction shows and India's first reality TV show. She made her directorial debut with Shabd (2005), wich she wrote, edited and directed - and which bravely explores the psychology of love, marriage, creativity and freedom. ORIGINAL AIRDATE: APRIL 12th, 2012 on The Director's Club Podcast. RECORDED AS POP CULTURE CLUB: For this special 20-minute episode, I interview director Andrew Davis to talk about his debut film from 1978, STONY ISLAND which is being released on DVD & VOD on April 24th, 2012. We learn about how the film was made, and its cultural significance, including how Andrew got his start in the business. In addition, we briefly discuss memories of filming THE FUGITIVE here in the city of Chicago back in the early 90s as well. STONY ISLAND was filmed on the gritty streets of Chicago’s south side and tells the story of Richie Bloom (Richie Davis), the only white kid on the block, as he forms an R&B band with his best friend, Kevin (Edward “Stoney” Robinson). With the help of their mentor, aging sax legend Percy (Gene “Daddy G” Barge), they pull together a funky supergroup, stealing practice time at night in the local funeral home. Despite few resources and heavy losses this resilient group of dedicated musicians–armed only with wit, sleight of hand and outrageous Chicago bravado–must come together to finally make their smash debut. Thanks again to Andrew Davis for being a guest on the show and providing this incredibly interesting look at an underseen gem that integrates both Chicago history and also beautifully captures how the love of music brings people together.
