Editor - Eric Kissack, ACE THE STUDIO editor Eric Kissack began journey his journey with series co-creator and star, Seth Rogen, on the Sasha Baron Cohen film, Bruno.  From there their partnership would continue, spanning projects like Sausage Party, Black Monday and others.  For their current project, they would be working closer than ever before, as Seth's vision for THE STUDIO necessitated Eric's presence on set, fostering a tighter creative process that brought editorial not only on location, but into aspects of prouction. THE STUDIO tells the story of Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of the floundering film production company Continental Studios. A self-described cinephile, Matt struggles to balance Continental's corporate aims in an increasingly IP-driven entertainment landscape with his own ambition to produce quality films. ERIC KISSACK, ACE Born and raised in New York City, Eric Kissack fell in love with movies when he went to see The Empire Strikes Back at the tender age of 4, a questionable parenting decision but a pivotal career moment. He spent every free moment after that watching films and went on to study film at Brown University. After school, Eric bumbled about for a bit but then got an early break as a film editor and spent 20 years cutting funny films in New York and Los Angeles. He had the pleasure of working on Role Models, Brüno, Cedar Rapids, The Dictator, Horrible Bosses 2, Daddy's Home, Instant Family, Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar and Bottoms. In 2012, he directed his first feature, Love, Sex & Missed Connections, an independent comedy that won several festival awards including Best Narrative Feature at the Cleveland International Film Festival and the Special Jury Award for First Time Filmmaker at the Traverse City Film Festival. In 2014, he directed a short film called The Gunfighter that won over two dozen awards including the Audience Award for Best Short at the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival and was included in the 2015 Saatchi & Saatchi's New Director's Showcase at the Cannes Lions. In 2016, Eric decided to spend more time in television. He edited Black Monday, Rutherford Falls and Pam & Tommy among other shows. He was nominated for an Emmy for his work editing Veep and an ACE Award for his work editing The Good Place. Eric directed his first episode of television for the show Rutherford Falls on Peacock which premiered in June 2022.  He is currently working on a new television show for Amazon based on the Spider-Noir character starring Nicolas Cage. Actor and filmmaker Wade Allain-Marcus has a unique approach toward his involvement in a variety of films and television projects. It derives from factors like his mixed background, training in the Experimental Theatre Wing (ETW) at NYU, and growing up with parents in the business. The approach is one thing, but the result speaks for itself and is shaped by the ensembles he finds himself immersed into, such as the regular casts of HBO's Insecure or Netflix's Eric, the latter opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. From Lucy Forbes to Antoine Fuqua to John Singleton, Wade has worked with a variety of interesting directors who have affected his own approach to the craft. After making his directorial debut with Una y Otra y Otra vez, starring NYU classmate Gina Rodriguez, he directed the acclaimed French Dirty which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in 2015, and dealth with topics including male-friendships and infidelity in the context of a love triangle. He shot the film with close friends and NYU classmates including Arjun Gupta and his spouse Melina Lizette. Following a host of acting projects, he joined the writer's room of Grownish, which he also directed an episode of, and recently directed Academy Award Nominee June Squibb in the BET remake of Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead. in our conversation, we discussed parental relationships and influence; the musicality of filmmaking; and why it's so difficult to trivialize his acting and directing credits.Opening Credits: Jangwa - V I CC BY 4.0; LaFaena - Car Drive I CC BY 4.0. On episode #166, I spoke with Jason Jones about how to revive our culture from a Catholic perspective.Key points from our discussion include:- The biggest issue in today's world- Catholic approach to the great reset - The need to strength families and communities through subsidiarity- What motivated Jason to write this book- And much more...Biography:Jason Jones is a film producer, author, activist, popular podcast host, and human rights worker. He is president of the Human-Rights Education and Relief Organization (H.E.R.O.) known for its two main programs The Vulnerable People Project and Movie to Movement. In 2006, Jones was an Executive Producer of "Bella," which won several film industry awards, most notably the People's Choice Award at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival. In 2009 Jason was an associate producer of “The Stoning of Soraya M”, winner of the NAACP Image Award and the Los Angeles Film Festival. In 2009 Jones produced the award-winning pro-life short film Crescendo with Eduardo Verastegui and Pattie Mallete (the mother of Justin Bieber). Crescendo raised over 6 million dollars in North America to support pregnancy centers and women's shelters. Jason launched the Vulnerable People Project's Hope for Afghanistan program after receiving a request to rescue a friend's mother trapped in Afghanistan during the US Military withdrawal. VPP's Hope for Afghanistan has since grown immensely in the last two years. Since the disastrous US withdrawal VPP has evacuated thousands of religious minorities and former Afghan allies, provided for safe houses in neighboring countries, and worked to resettle vulnerable Afghans. VPP has delivered over 3 million meals to families in need across Afghanistan; opened a women's health clinic; drilled wells that provide potable water to several villages; and provided security for schools so children can study and learn safely.  At the heart of everything Jason does is a mission to stand between the violent and the vulnerable: from the child in the womb to Christians in Nigeria, to civilians in Ukraine to our former allies in Afghanistan. His tireless work in the pro-life movement was just recognized in a featured chapter in Legacy of Life, a book honoring fifty of the greatest pro-life leaders of the last fifty years. Links:Link for Purchase: The Great ResetFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/SophiaInstitutePress/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/SophiaPress Our Sponsors:This is a Good Catholic Podcast.  If you're interested in purchasing a Good Catholic digital series, use code GBS for 20% off your total order.Looking for the perfect Catholic gift? Attorney Justin Brooks is known for the extensive legal work he has done over many years to overturn wrongful criminal convictions. He has dedicated his career to this cause and currently serves as the Director and Co-Founder of the California Innocence Project. He has practiced in the area of criminal defense in many states, including Michigan and Illinois. He has also taught courses at Georgetown Law Center and Thomas M. Cooley Law School and is presently a tenured professor at California Western School of Law. Justin Brooks is also the author of the only legal case book focused on the topic of wrongful convictions.Justin has received a number of accolades throughout his career, including the designation as one of the Top 100 Lawyers in California by the Los Angeles Daily Journal, as well as receiving recognition as “Lawyer of the Year” in 2010 and 2012 by California Lawyer Magazine. He has also worked in Latin America to train lawyers for the past twenty years. As a co-founder of Red Inocente, an organization that is devoted to founding and supporting various innocence organizations in Latin America, he continues to devote his career to the cause of overturning wrongful criminal convictions. The Exoneration of Brian BanksJustin Brooks and The California Innocence Project worked tirelessly to overturn the wrongful conviction of Brian Banks, who was charged with rape and kidnapping after a consensual sexual encounter. At the time, Brian Banks was only seventeen years old and was widely considered to have a bright future playing football in the NFL. The false rape accusation drastically changed the course of his life, as he was faced with the difficult decision of choosing whether to proceed to trial and risk forty-one years to life in prison if found guilty or to accept a plea deal for just over five years in prison. Brian chose to accept the plea deal, which also came with the cost of destroying his dream of playing football and requiring him to register as a sex offender.Together with The California Innocence Project, attorney Justin Brooks presented evidence of Brian Banks' innocence of these crimes. Evidence in his favor included the alleged victim stating that she fabricated the story. After another review of the evidence, the District Attorney's Office agreed that Banks was wrongfully convicted; and in May of 2012, a judge of the Los Angeles Superior Court reversed his conviction.Banks' story has a particularly happy ending. After his exoneration, Justin Brooks spoke out to the press on behalf of his client and asked NFL teams to give Brian a chance at playing football. Shortly after, Brian received calls from six different NFL teams expressing interest.Ultimately, Brian Banks played for the Cincinnati Bengals during one NFL season. Though his time playing in the NFL was brief; following the 2013 football season, Brian accepted a position working for the NFL's Department of Operations in the replay center. In this position, he also helped contribute to the league's social media.Brian's story garnered such public interest that his story was made into a film which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival in September of 2018. The movie features Academy Award-nominated actor Greg Kinnear playing the role of Professor Justin Brooks, and will premiere in the US in August 2019. In the midst of a year that saw pandemic disease, social unrest, and bare-knuckled politics, Hollywood churned out a tremendous body of work—even while theaters closed, and films created for the big screen streamed directly to our homes. Pete Hammond says this year's Academy Awards reflect the issues facing Americans.   Hammond, chief film critic for Deadline Hollywood, is widely considered to be one of the most distinguished awards analysts for both film and television. In addition to being chief film critic at Deadline, he has also been Awards Editor and Columnist for the past eight years. In his past he has reviewed films for MovieLine, Boxoffice magazine, Backstage, Hollywood.com and Maxim, as well as frequently contributing to Variety. Outside of writing, Pete is also in his seventeenth year as host of the year-round KCET Cinema Series in Los Angeles, where he screens a selection of films prior to their theatrical release and interviews filmmakers. He is also host of UCLA extension's Sneak Preview for the past ten years, and has hosted panels at AFI Fest, the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Palm Springs International Film Festival, Los Angeles Film Festival, Mill Valley Film Festival, CineVegas, San Francisco Film Festival, and Cannes Film Festival. He has interviewed prestigious filmmakers and stars from groups such as SAG, DGA, BAFTA, and WGA. He previously held producing positions at Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Access Hollywood, The Arsenio Hall Show, The Martin Short Show and AMC Network. He is the winner of both the 1996 and 2013 Publicists Guild of America's Press Award, making him only the second journalist in the 50-year history of the organization to receive the award twice. Editors - Joseph Krings ACE and Jasmin Way THE PENTAVERATE editors, Joseph Krings ACE and Jasmin Way, first met when Jasmin assisted Joe on the indie feature, THE REBEL IN THE RYE (2017); a biopic about reclusive author J.D. Salinger.  Joe was so impressed with the way that Jasmin cut scenes for that film that he knew she was the right choice to join him as co-editor on Myers' new comedy series. THE PENTAVERATE was created by Mike Myers for Netflix and features Myers playing eight different parts throughout the six-episode series.  Initially mentioned in Myers' film, SO I MARRIED AN AXE MURDERER (1993), THE PENTAVERATE is about a Canadian journalist who tries to uncover the truth about a secret society of five men who have controlled the world since 1347. JOSEPH KRINGS ACE Joe Krings began his career as a commercial editor in New York City, but quickly grew restless knowing that his real passion was for long form film and television projects.  One of Joe's earliest films was a documentary called SUPERMENSCH (2013), helmed by THE PENTAVERATE creator, Mike Myers.  From there Joe would go on to make a name for himself with the dramedy feature, CAPTAIN FANTASTIC (2016) and indie films such as the aforementioned THE REBEL IN THE RYE (2017) and Sundance stand-outs, AFTER THE WEDDING (2019) and THE EVENING HOUR (2020). JASMIN WAY Jasmin Way is a New York-based film and television editor. Her first feature, SOLACE (2018) premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and won Best Ensemble Cast. Her second documentary feature was the critically-acclaimed THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING (2018) about the history of women in film behind the scenes and in front of the camera. It premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and was the runner-up for the People's Choice award. In addition to her work on THE PENTAVERATE, Jasmin also worked as an editor on the latest season of David Letterman's MY NEXT GUEST NEEDS NO INTRODUCTION (2022). We bring you a comedic conversation about movies streaming on the main services. Our twisted humor is brought to you by William Phoenix, the man that taps his way into your heart one pun at a time, with his obsession of Harry Potter and Marvel; then the film snob of the group, Luis Lacau, that will bleed his film heart out for Kubrick and Lord of the Rings, but nothing else; finally our host with not the most, Branden Lacau. He's the ringmaster to our circus or the driver of the dumpster fire, keeping us on track, but will always stop to weeb out on AnimeAnnie Hall is a 1977 American romantic comedy film directed by Woody Allen from a screenplay he co-wrote with Marshall Brickman. Produced by Allen's manager, Charles H. Joffe, the film stars the director as Alvy Singer, who tries to figure out the reasons for the failure of his relationship with the film's eponymous female lead, played by Diane Keaton in a role written specifically for her.Principal photography for the film began on May 19, 1976, on the South Fork of Long Island, and continued periodically for the next ten months. Allen has described the result, which marked his first collaboration with cinematographer Gordon Willis, as "a major turning point",[2] in that unlike the farces and comedies that were his work to that point, it introduced a new level of seriousness. Academics have noted the contrast in the settings of New York City and Los Angeles, the stereotype of gender differences in sexuality, the presentation of Jewish identity, and the elements of psychoanalysis and modernism.Annie Hall was screened at the Los Angeles Film Festival in March 1977, before its official release on April 20, 1977. The film was highly praised, and along with winning the Academy Award for Best Picture, received Oscars in three other categories: two for Allen (Best Director and, with Brickman, Best Original Screenplay), and Best Actress for Keaton. The film additionally won four BAFTA awards and a Golden Globe, the latter being awarded to Keaton. The film's North American box office receipts of $38,251,425 are fourth-best of Allen's works when not adjusted for inflation.Considered to be one of the best films ever made, it ranks 31st on AFI's List of the greatest films in American cinema, 4th on their list of greatest comedy films and 28th on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies". Film critic Roger Ebert called it "just about everyone's favorite Woody Allen movie".[3] The film's screenplay was also named the funniest ever written by the Writers Guild of America in its list of the "101 Funniest Screenplays".[4] In 1992, the United States Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."Movie Trivia GamePops Corner: Entertainment NewsMain Review: Annie HallBranden's Joystick: Comics, Anime and Video GamesBaldBox: Redbox movie pick "Max Reload and the Nether Blasters"Join our Man Bites Media Family every Friday as we bring you 5 films each week and the latest movie news.www.ManBitesFilm.com#Comedy #Horror #Netflixmovies #Amazonprime #Hulumovies #Luislacau #Manbitesmedia #Manbitesfilm #Brandenlacau #williamphoenix #Hulu #Shudder #Netflixoriginal #Hulu #Scifi #Comedies #Dramaseries #mbm #podcast #fandom #nerds #geeks #Rushhour
