In this episode my associate Ellen Seigel and I discuss this download of information I got after meditation about the importance of focusing on the container and not the items in the container of life. Some practical tips how to do this. Here is the download in full that we are discussing The container is everything You are so used to focusing on the contents of the container and not on the container itself…. when you focus on the things in the container it is not a lasting experience for you jump from one aspect to another but if you begin to get used to focusing on the container then you know all the things in a deeper way and the things are not relevant or important in themselves but just as an expression of the underlying force in the container… focus on the force that is the container and then you will know God, to know God is to be God in a way, to be the force in which all things express themselves…. it is the most gorgeous and calming and safe and beautiful experience, it is so complete and fulfilling you will just want to melt in it and surrender to it and be it and travel with it… it will teach you so many things, it will show you so many dimensions, you will lose your sense of self in it and become a new sense of self, the no self meaning not having a particular thing for an identity but being all things… it is like tasting all things as a meal… be the taster, the experience of taste so to speak….  How do I keep bringing my focus to the container in my daily life? You do this by keeping adjusting the lens of your awareness, by asking to feel and know the space in which whatever is happening and whatever you are doing is held in…. you step back for a moment and then step back in without losing the larger perspective… you become the allowing presence…. you make space for it as Eckert Tolle says, and by making space for it you can actually experience all sides of it and it has the capacity to keep showing you more and more sides and in that way it is always fresh and alive and surprising and blissful and playful…. try this out this week and begin to cultivate an experience of this so you can train yourself to be this way as your new default. …………………………..

40 min Maureen and Pierre revisit Eckhart Tolle to explore his life's story.  Follow-on conversation from the first podcast on Eckhart Tolle. Before revisiting Tolle, Maureen mentions  people are actually listening to these podcasts.  Wait, what?!  They are???  WOW!  Cool!  Maureen says someone mentioned liking ‘Pierre's voice and playfulness.'  Pierre loves the playfulness comment, and riffs on his relationship with his voice.  Many years ago in a used book store, Pierre found the book:  Change Your Voice, Change Your Life, by Morton Cooper. It was indeed, a life-changing book. Speaking of life changing books, Maureen and Pierre revisit Eckert Tolle's work and his life.  Tolle self-educated himself from about the age of 13.  His life story is remarkable.  Learn more here:   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eckhart_Tolle  He taught, studied and dealt with bouts of depression until one day, in the depths of a depression he had a spiritual experience. Overnight, he awakened to the beauty available in the present moment.  From that moment on - excuse the pun, his life transformed.   Nonetheless, it took decades before he wrote the Power of Now.  And as they say, the rest is history.   Tolle eschewed capitalizing on fame and tried to maintain an organic approach to disseminating his views. Join Learning Conversation as we learn more about Eckhart Tolle's interesting life. Truly a seminal figure in the literature and modern movement of spiritual awakening.    Maureen and Pierre dive into the Power of Now experience from first reading to now - no pun attended again.  Going deeper into the now, Maureen and Pierre discuss meditation and yoga, the struggle to be here now can cut through the noise of everyday life.  Distress causes focus and you move closer to finding your true self through struggle.  A short clip of Eckhart Tolle interview referenced in first pod: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHhEPUp5X_I

Welcome to "3 Minute Thursday"  (#ThreeMinuteThursday) where Pooja shares a weekly nugget of wisdom in just a few minutes. --The idea – that the more you want the more you suffer – is a basic tenant of Buddhism and many other spiritual and religious traditions. The Buddha believed that most suffering is caused by a tendency to crave things. These things might be exact and tangible like wanting to own a sports car or getting to 100K followers on Twitter, or more amorphous, like just not feeling content in the now – wanting to be somewhere else or do something else.Think about how much wanting happens in your own life. How often do you think about wanting things or experiences or situations?Legendary coach John Wooden, didn't need to study eastern philosophy to figure this out. He wrote in his 1997 book, Wooden that: “It is my observation that the primary cause of unhappiness for most people is simply wanting too much: expecting too much materially, chasing the dollar, overemphasizing the material things. When they don't arrive, unhappiness does.Eckert Tolle, the author of book The Power of Now, links wanting with stress: he says “Stress is caused by being here but wanting to be there.”How often do you want to be there instead of here. How often are you playing for later, hoping that when you get the things you want you will be happy?---If you want to read more of my essays on living calm and free, please sign up to my newsletter by following me on LinkedIn.--For more from Host Pooja Mottl:  www.PoojaMottl.comPodcast Producer: www.Go-ToProductions.comTwitter: @PoojaMottlInstagram: @TheCalmandFreePodcast and @PoojaMottl  LinkedIn: @PoojaMottlSpecial Thanks : Kris Kosach of the TPR Podcast for lending her VO for our Podcast Intro.Jessica Panian for her help with our graphic design. Sufi Kaur for managing and designing our social graphics.

Welcome to our new segment, "Three Minute Thursday"  (#3MinuteThursday) where I highlight a piece of wisdom I've come across from my own readings over the past week, or share with you an inspirational anecdote that can help you lead a more calm, free and full life.Today's episode provides reflections on how to deal with the past from teachings from spiritual guru Sadhguru and author of The Power of Now, Eckert Tolle.----Hi everyone, in this #3MinuteThursday episode I want to share some profound wisdom about how to treat the past from the Indian philosopher and teacher Sadhguru. So many of us identify with the past, especially if it makes us feel very good or feel bad – that is the nature of the monkey mind. But the past is dead. The past has passed, so to speak. It's gone.  Over and done.Especially when situations or people in our past begin to weigh us down in the now, that's when we have to stop and check ourselves. Sadhguru says it this way: When you keep the past alive, the living will slowly die.The idea here is that we should refrain from trying to fix the past lest we keep ourselves playing from our back foot today. The less our minds live in the past, the more free we are right now to flourish. Sadhguru says that in fact, the more unpleasant things happen in your life, the wiser you should become. I'll add on to this by saying that this happens because as we get more practice in managing our thoughts about the past, making sure to label them as over, the better we are at mastering life now...Listen to the episode for more.--For more from Host Pooja Mottl:  www.PoojaMottl.comPodcast Producer: www.Go-ToProductions.comTwitter: @PoojaMottlInstagram: @TheCalmandFreePodcast and @PoojaMottl  LinkedIn: @PoojaMottlSpecial Thanks to Kris Kosach of the TPR Podcast for lending her VO for our Podcast Intro!

“What is your spiritual practice, that disengages you from the Ego and the Pain Body, where you can have that space? Is it mindful meditation, is it yoga, is it tai chi, is it walking in nature?” Senior Minister Rev. Karen Lindvig returns to explore the image of an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other.  She incorporates the concepts of the Ego and the Pain Body, as discussed by Eckert Tolle, to describe what she sees as an addiction to pain, in our current culture.  But if we use our spiritual practices, we can be the space that is in between the devil and the angel. I wanted to share my thoughts from the final episode of “The Last Dance”. More so, I wanted to address MJ’s ‘SECRET Weapon”. I do so within the newest episode of Forged FATHER FM HERE Off the top, everyone know’s that MJ was a superior athlete with his God-given talents. He could jump outta the gym with ease, he was fast and agile, and just an amazing athlete. On top of that, he was one of the hardest workers, fiercest competitors, and he wasn’t ever going to give up or quit. He was what you could call, “Mentally UNBREAKABLE”. His secret weapon? His ability to fully become focused and dialed in on the NOW. MJ’s closest friends and teammates would mention who he’s always in the present and in the moment. Many would comment that MJ never let the future or the past mess with the actions he’d take in the present. I AGREE. The PRESENT is what matters most and what you do in the NOW is all you can control. It wasn’t until I had figured this out for myself that things drastically changed for me. What really helped put this all into perspective was the book, “The Power Of NOW” by Eckert Tolle. I listened to this book when I was traveling to compete within the Crossfit Games in 2018. It had a tremendous impact on how I started to think from that day forth and I can tell you will 110% certainty, I helped me compete at a whole other level that week. In short, you can’t let the fear and doubt you have of the future or even the past have control over the actions who choose to take within the NOW. The NOW is the only thing you have control of. You can’t control what’s happening in the past nor can you control what will happen in the future. You can only control the NOW. So, what’s this have to do with YOU as a DAD?? Well, listen in on the latest episode of Forged FATHER FM and you’ll find out. PS - I've now got just a handful of more spots left for the next group of men coming into the Forged FATHER Project. https://entrearchitect.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/0JoyceMarter2-1.jpg ()The Psychology of Success So much of our success and failure as entrepreneur architects is determined by our mindsets. It’s all in your head! What’s keeping you from growing? How do you properly  set boundaries around your firms and families? What about the importance of visions and planning your life? How about the seasons of our lives determining the timeline for our success? This week at EntreArchitect Podcast, The Psychology of Success with Entrepreneur Psychotherapist Joyce Marter. Background Joyce Marter is a licensed psychotherapist and the founder of https://urbanbalance.com (Urban Balance), a multisite counseling practice that she started and grew to over 100 therapists working in 9 locations in Chicago and St. Louis during her 13 years as CEO. She has a passion for applying psychology to business.  She’s a public speaker, a corporate trainer, and she has been featured as an expert on media outlets like Wall Street Journal, US News & World Report, CNN, MTV and more. Origin Story Joyce went to school at Ohio State, and when she started she had no idea what she wanted to do. She chose psychology, sociology and humanities since she was interested in learning more about it. She quickly learned that she was interested in learning about people’s thinking, emotions, experiences, and how we’re shaped by our experiences in life. She attended Northwestern for her graduate degree in counseling psychology. After that, she feel accidentally into entrepreneurship. She saw a need for an insurance-friendly counseling practice. Though she went through ups and downs, her practice grew quickly. Did you plan to grow into such a large business? As Joyce worked on her business, she worked on herself personally. Sine they’re two sides of the same coin, the business organically grew as she grew herself. There was a need for insurance-friendly therapy and for jobs for therapists. One person at a time, her business grew leaps and bounds. Was there fear in launching your own business? Many people told her she was too young, that the market was too saturated, and that there was too much competition. She set strict boundaries for herself and people laughed at her. There was a lot of fear in it. She took the feedback with a grain of thought and forged ahead anyway. How did you find the balance between your family and your business? Joyce planned her career in the context of her life, not the other way around. She visualized the life she wanted to have with her family, and planned around that. As a mom and provider, she puts great value on her time and puts parameters around her day. Taking care of our selves allows us to think more clearly and be more productive and joyous in our work. Because Joyce prioritizes her family, it has helped her delegate and find great people to partner with instead of trying to control and do everything herself. What was the first step to create your plan and vision? How many weeks a year do you want to take off? What do you want your work week to look like? What’s your prime target of hours? What of those are from home? When do you need to be home for your family? Build boundaries around those and make them non negotiable. Next, imagine financially what you want to make. Aim high and visualize that. Focus on what’s being supported. Let it take shape organically based on what’s going on at work and at home. How did you plan for future seasons? From a psychology perspective, there are different phases of development that impact where our energy and time go. For Joyce, career growth happen in stages and steps. There may be a push to grow, and then a pause to maintain there. How do you combat the fear in your head that gets in your way of taking the next step forward? Eckert Tolle, author of...
