In the latest episode of the Blogger Genius Podcast, I sit down with Greg Zakowicz, an expert marketer from Omnisend, to delve into all the cool things a blogger can do with email marketing. We explore its renewed significance in the digital landscape, especially for online entrepreneurs looking to build and nurture their audiences. The Importance of Email Marketing Email marketing has seen a resurgence as other channels like social media and SEO become increasingly saturated. Unlike these platforms, email allows bloggers to communicate directly with subscribers who have opted in, making it a powerful tool for building relationships and driving sales. A high-quality list consists of engaged subscribers who are genuinely interested in your content. Strategies for Building a Quality Email List: Offer Valuable Incentives: Instead of generic giveaways, offer something that aligns with your audience's interests, such as early access to products or exclusive content. Create a Sense of Exclusivity: Make your subscribers feel special by offering them unique opportunities or experiences. Use Simple Opt-In Forms: Make it easy for visitors to subscribe by using straightforward and user-friendly forms. Treating Early Customers as VIPs I share my approach of treating our early MiloTree customers as VIPs, which helps in building a loyal community around our brand. Tips for Treating Customers as VIPs: Personal Connections: Respond promptly to emails and acknowledge customers by name. Exclusive Offers: Provide early access to new products or special discounts. Community Building: Foster a sense of belonging by engaging with your audience and encouraging them to share their experiences. Crafting a Welcome Series A well-crafted welcome series can set the tone for your relationship with new subscribers. Greg advises that the number of messages in your welcome series should depend on what you need to communicate. Elements of an Effective Welcome Series: Engaging First Email: The first email typically has the highest open rates, so make it count. Introduce yourself and your brand in a relatable manner. Storytelling Approach: Share your journey and what subscribers can expect from your emails. Relevant Content: Include links to popular blog posts or helpful resources that resonate with your audience. Utilizing Segmentation Segmentation is crucial for sending relevant messages to the right audience. Greg introduces the concept of segmentation within welcome emails, allowing bloggers to tailor follow-up messages based on subscriber interests. Segmentation Strategies: Tags During Sign-Up: Use tags to categorize subscribers based on their interests during the sign-up process. Preference Campaigns: Conduct campaigns to gather information about subscribers' preferences. Self-Segmentation: Allow subscribers to self-segment by clicking on options in emails, simplifying the process and empowering them to express their preferences. Simplicity is Key Both Jillian and Greg stress the importance of simplicity in email marketing. Overcomplicating processes can lead to inaction, so it's essential to keep things straightforward. Tips for Keeping It Simple: Concise Emails: Keep your emails short and to the point, with clear and engaging sections. Visual Elements: Use buttons or icons to guide readers and make your emails visually appealing. Actionable Steps: Focus on small, manageable steps that encourage subscribers to take action. Crafting Effective Subject Lines Subject lines play a crucial role in determining whether your emails get opened. Greg shares his approach to writing effective subject lines. Best Practices for Subject Lines: Character Limit: Aim for 21 to 40 characters to ensure visibility on mobile devices. Relevance and Action-Oriented Language: Create subject lines that pique curiosity and provide a clear reason to open the email. Testing and Feedback: Write multiple subject lines, including unconventional ones, to think outside the box and find what works best. Building Relationships with Subscribers Building genuine relationships with your subscribers is essential for long-term success. Understanding your audience's perspective can lead to more effective communication. Strategies for Building Relationships: Personalization: Tailor your messages to address the specific needs and interests of your subscribers. Engagement Tactics: Host exclusive online events or focus groups for email subscribers to foster a sense of community. Emotional Connection: Make subscribers feel seen and part of a larger community, addressing the loneliness many people feel today. Our goal is to empower you to be more effective in your administrative tasks, so you can focus on the most important work of kingdom building. Let's explore the essential tools that will make your ministry more efficient and impactful. Quick Links: Ministry Management Binder Schedule a Call Episode 035 1: Website A well-designed website can serve as a hub for your community, providing information, resources, and engagement opportunities. In today's society nearly every new visitor will research your church online before ever setting foot inside the door. Therefore your address, service times, and phone numbers should be clear. Images of services, classes, and events are very helpful. 2: Digital Calendars Managing your ministry's events and appointments can be a complex task. Digital calendars can be a LIFESAVER. It can help you streamline every department's schedule while giving the freedom to staff and leaders to update events and add important information. I mentioned in the last episode that Google Calendar is my personal favorite. 3. Online File Storage and Sharing Centralized document management is a game-changer for ministries. It is convenient, efficient, and organized. Say goodbye to scattered documents and having to dig through file cabinets! There are many systems to choose from but if you are already using Gmail or Google Calendar then you also have access to Google Drive. 4: Virtual Meetings In 2020, everyone got a crash course in conducting and attending virtual meetings. Zoom quickly became a household function. During this time, ministries realized what an asset this piece of technology is. Especially for ministries that extend beyond one community. It is a great way to have face-to-face meetings without leaving the comfort of your home or office. 5. Social Media This one might be a bit controversial still, however, social media is a powerful tool for ministry outreach. This is much information out there on how to manage social media. You can learn strategies for engaging and growing your ministry's online presence, complete with examples, sample templates, and tips for reaching the demographics in your area. There are even “social media managers” who you can hire to help with this. If your church does not have some type of social media presence, you are missing out on the best free advertisement and marketing strategy. 6. Digital Newsletters and Email Marketing Email marketing remains a key channel for engaging your congregation and supporters. This is a great way to communicate upcoming events, share words of testimony, and encourage the flock. There are several email platforms available and this is something else that a church management software might provide. Two common stand-alone email platforms are MailChimp and Constant Contact. This is a great way to generate a digital newsletter. This is another way to engage with your congregation and help them feel connected. 7: Project Management Software Project and team management are crucial for efficient ministry operation. My favorite tool for this is Trello. I talked about how I personally use Trello in the last episode if you want to jump back and listen to it. Ministries can use this to track visitor follow-up, enlist and train volunteers, and plan the upcoming staff party or Christmas Play. You can share your “Trello Boards” with others on your team so that you can collaborate together. You can assign tasks to people on your team and check off when things get done on the list. You can also assign due dates and set reminders. I have used this method for planning several conferences and women's retreats. There, of course, are a plethora of other systems available that you can check out. Keeping projects and teams on track is a challenging task and I am all for finding ways to do that more efficiently. In fact, several years ago, I created the “Ministry Management Binder”. I have a physical printable version that can be put in a binder and I have a digital version on a Trello Board. Or you can get both at a discounted price. 8: Online Giving It is a fact that churches that had an online giving option during the Covid pandemic saw less of a decline in finances than those who did not. Online giving has become more and more accepted as most of the younger generation pays their bills online and doesn't carry cash or checks. There are many options for receiving offerings online and I am not going to recommend one over another. Choose a platform that is easy to use for individuals and for the church. If it integrates with your accounting software that is a huge plus. This may require a little research to pick the one that fits best. I would start by asking what others in your community and organization have had success with. There is also a feature called text-to-give. You can do a quick search to find out more about that as well. 9: Accounting Software Effective financial management is a cornerstone of ministry success. Using an accounting software can make life so much better. When I first started out as a church secretary (more years ago than I care to admit) it was all on paper! I transitioned to an Excel spreadsheet and eventually switched to QuickBooks. Now there are systems created just for churches and ministries. Let me just say that when I started out, it took me DAYS to tally up all the end-of-year contribution statements. Now they can be printed off in minutes! Having an efficient system will allow you so much more time to do more productive work. Now, I mentioned QuickBooks but there are several systems available that you can choose from. 10: All-In-One Solution with Church Management Software Last but definitely not least is an all-in-one Church Management Software. These systems provide a comprehensive solution for ministry administration. Combining several of the aforementioned tools can streamline administrative tasks and enhance member engagement. These can offer a combination of calendars, file storage, email marketing, accounting software, online giving, and project management. Each system is different and usually based on the needs and size of the ministry. Here is a list of the 10 Best Church Management Systems for Small Churches published by theleadpastor.com. We have explored 10 tools that can supercharge your ministry and its effectiveness. Leveraging these tools will enable you to streamline your administrative tasks, leaving you with more time to focus on the most critical aspect of ministry—kingdom building. In such uncertain times, it is imperative that we stay on task and be about the Father's business. Administrative tasks may seem unimportant to many, however, it is like a well-oiled machine. When things don't run smoothly, systems begin to break down. So if you are in an administrative position, I want you to remember that this IS a calling. Not everyone can do what you are doing. It IS important. You ARE needed. If you can get organized and create systems you are helping to keep things running smoothly. You can probably tell that I am very passionate about helping those in administrative positions. If you are stuck, need help, or want to brainstorm some ideas, reach out to me and let's chat! #91 Ronnie Teja from Branzio Watches: Scale Your E-Commerce to 8 Figures with SEO Ronnie Tejais the Founder of Branzio Watches. With over 15 years of experience in digital marketing all around the world, Ronnie knows a thing or two about building marketing strategies, building a business, and perseverance. Tune in to hear Daniel and Ronnie discuss: ✔️ Ronnie's Path to E-Commerce ✔️ Discovering the Importance of SEO ✔️ Is SEO Worth the Time? ✔️ The Value of Email Marketing ✔️ Advice for Entrepreneurs Ronnie's Path to E-Commerce Ronnie is a ‘self-taught' digital marketer, leading online marketing strategies for businesses around the world. After moving to Canada, Ronnie harnessed his marketing skills in work for HSBC, BestBuy, and SoftwareKing. At 29 years old, Ronnie decided to invest his time in the watch market. Once he read that watch profit margins are ‘phenomenal' he jumped right in! “My focus from day one was to find the supply chain, the suppliers, the ops, and run a team that is far more efficient than I could be as an individual.” Branzio Watches hire leading watchmakers and designers from around the world. Ronnie's job is to harness global talent as efficiently as possible. “I'm a generalist who is surrounded by extremely capable specialists.” Discovering the Importance of SEO Ronnie learned all about SEO through networking. If you're in e-commerce, Ronnie highly recommends going to the yearly Chiang Mai SEO Conference in northern Thailand. “You will be surrounded by some of the best people around and the friendliest people who are happy to talk about SEO.” The Chiang Mai SEO conference is especially valuable in bringing together so many perspectives on SEO from different spaces in digital marketing. Ronnie's self-taught SEO knowledge was based entirely on Google Paid ads, but over the last 7 years, he's acquired several websites in the affiliate space. Learning about SEO in the affiliate space showed Ronnie what he needed to scale. Ronnie favors a holistic approach to SEO. Networking with digital marketers across industries to explore how different platforms present different opportunities for SEO. Is SEO Worth the Time? To put it simply: yes. You just need to be patient. Just as you need to have a paid strategy, a social media strategy, or an influencer strategy, you need an SEO strategy. And if you're worried about things taking too long? 4 years ago, Branzio Watches were getting 5000 visits per day, today they have around 2 million. And that's free organic traffic. That's a lot of revenue. If you want to be an entrepreneur, Ronnie advises, you need to think of the long-term. While prioritization varies from store to store, Ronnie says that paid ads, influencers, SEO, and email should be at the foundation of any e-commerce business. No one element of digital marketing (such as paid ads) is a get-rich-quick solution. A lucrative marketing strategy uses multiple channels. And it takes time. The Value of Email Marketing “Email is basically like free sales.” Like Daniel, Ronnie is in love with Klaviyo. He's even on their customer advisory board. 12% - 13% of total store revenue in Branzio Watches comes from email. “So always keep an eye on how to grow your email list.” A fantastic way to do that is through a quiz. If you're looking for an example of what a great Shop Quiz looks like, Ronnie recommends checking out Beardbrand. Their quiz recruits 600 - 1000 subscribers a week. Advice for Entrepreneurs “Perseverance, man, you need to persevere, don't give up.” Ronnie says that he truly found focus last year. He gave up drinking, started waking up at 5 am, and his life changed. He doesn't work 80 hours, he works a normal 30 - 35 hours a week, but his efficiency has skyrocketed. Ronnie isn't a fan of the “100 hour working week” hustle culture. Ronnie advises that people often make the mistake of thinking that if they follow one golden rule they'll get there. Everyone is different. Most entrepreneurs have two of three qualities: They're very passionate about their idea. They're in the right place at the right time. They put in years of work. If you're truly passionate about your idea, you'll see it through to the end. Check out Branzio Watches and follow Ronnie on LinkedIn for more great e-commerce advice. Thank you for listening! #Audience #Content #Marketing Reach a Wider Audience? And Step Up Your Content Distribution Strategy? You're confident the content you created is valuable, so why don't you see the traffic and conversions? The problem often comes down to distribution. But what about new visitors? Where are they? Content distribution is a crucial part of the content promotion strategy that focuses on promoting your content to your target audience through various media channels. It primarily includes three content distribution networks: 1. Owned Media: This consists of any web property that you own, such as your website, blog, mobile app, newsletter, social media accounts, etc. 2. Paid Media: Any channel that you pay to amplify the reach of your content. Paid content distribution includes all paid ads, social media ads, influencer marketing, remarketing, etc. 3. Earned Media: Getting your content amplified through third-party sources, such as press coverage, guest articles, organic social shares, ratings, reviews, etc. Let's look at each of these content distribution methods in detail. Owned Content Distribution Brands have complete control over owned media (except for their third-party platform accounts). Here is how you can use different owned media to your benefit: 1. Website Before creating content for your website, you need to have a content strategy in place. Experiment with formats such as audio, video, and other rich media, to gauge which format is well received by your audience. 2. Email Marketing Email marketing is a preferred marketing channel by marketers everywhere, so much so that 59 percent of B2B marketers opine that email is the most effective medium to generate revenue. Paid Content Distribution Think about this for a minute — have you evaluated where your metaphorical highway is and where it leads? How can you better guide your traffic and optimize every inch of your site? Let's look at different types of paid content distribution: 1. Influencer Marketing Influencer marketing is all about reaching out to influential people with huge followings, to promote your brand on social media. These experts are commonly known as micro-influencers. 2. Remarketing Remarketing or Retargeting is an effective advertising technique that reconnects with users who have visited your website. This form of cookie-based advertising through ads placed on other websites or social media creates a strong brand recall and keeps your brand and content fresh in users' minds. Earned Content Distribution The true test of how good your content is, is in how many organic, third-party shares your content gets across various earned media channels. Earned content distribution is particularly tricky as your content will be featured on other publications only if it is remarkable and meets their guidelines. The key to getting others to talk about you is to start cultivating relationships with influential people and publications within your industry. Over time, you can share each other's content and attract a broader audience. Here are a few examples of earned content distribution: 1. Guest Posts When you build relationships with renowned thought leaders, publications and complementary brands in your industry, there is a possibility to get featured on their websites. 2. Organic Sharing When you create content of any type, add a call to action asking your readers to share it within their network. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/iidmusa/message

Rob Patterson is CMO of AWeber. AWeber is a company focussed on making email marketing powerfully simple for small business owners so they can grow their business quickly. Email marketing has had a rather dowdy image for the last decade. As it started off in the ‘90s, it's often seen as dated and belonging to the past. Spam also impacted its reputation back in the early 2000s. So is it all about social media? Is email just dead and outdated? The truth is the opposite. Email is a vital and powerful way to connect with people. It is also a very personal way of reaching out to your target customers, which is why email marketing is still relevant in E-commerce. Rob Patterson is CMO of AWeber. AWeber is a company focussed on making email marketing powerfully simple for small business owners so they can grow their business quickly. Email marketing has had a rather dowdy image for the last decade. As it started off in the ‘90s, it’s often seen as dated and belonging to the past. In raw financial terms, the return on investment of email marketing is way more effective than pretty much any other marketing channel.

I am very excited and maybe a little more excited than usual because, not only do I LOVE email marketing, but I have my FIRST international guest on! YAY! I’m going international (or at least for this ep!) I have stalked, kindly, in a marketing way, stalked Brenna for a couple of years now. I love what she does, and I think we started our businesses at a similar time, so that’s always fun. I admitted stalking her in her group a few weeks ago and she reached out via Instagram DMs and said, hey I’d love to be a guest on your podcast – what do you think? Umm, me thinks yes! Side note, this or that is exactly why I love social media. Strangers become friends even from across a few oceans. Brenna has the Social Rescue and is all about the email copy! I loved it and have learnt so much from following Brenna. I am so thankful that we were able to coordinate time across the seas to chat. I think it was my morning and her afternoon (on the previous day). My hubby told me to tell her that Trump had not been impeached – because we were in the future and she was a day behind! As she laughed, I thought, mmm, I think my hubby maybe turning into a “dad joke” person! On that note, that’s all for episode 60! In this week’s episode of the MegaMarketer Coachcast, host Scott Smith interviews Hayley Bridges. Today's podcast with Scott Smith and Hayley Bridges covers the digital marketing strategies you can use to grow your contracting business. Main Questions Asked: What is the difference between SEO and SEM? If you have a limited budget, should you improve SEO or spend money on paid ads? What type of budget should be allocated to online advertising? How often should a contractor contact their customer via email? Should you manage your social media yourself? Do you have any tips for using YouTube? What are the options when it comes to social media for paid advertising? How much does social media impact your SEO? Should a contractor manage their email marketing? What are some best practices for a website? What are some tips to convert traffic into leads? Key Lessons Learned: Digital Marketing The world of digital marketing is always changing so you always have to stay up to date to stay on top of the newest tech. SEO is a part of your overall SEM strategy. SEM stands for Search Engine Marketing, and SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. SEO is just one of many tools in the SEM toolbox. There is no one tool that is the best for everyone, every tool works in specific ways depending on what your goals online are. Your long term goals should be to succeed in building up your SEO rankings. If you are in a very competitive market, a good short term goal would be to use PPC and other paid ads to get an edge over your competition. PPC and paid ads give you analytics that allow you to make even better decisions about your marketing. Analyze the main source of your traffic and focus on maximizing that source. The magic number for online marketing when it comes to budget is 36%. This includes nearly everything that you spend online. It may sound like a high number but it will be money well spent. Emailing your list once a month is a good rule of thumb, if you have a sale going on, once every two weeks works well too. Social Media Social media generally works faster than email. Posting once a week is a good start. The content you post should be educational but can also be light and personal as well. The key to social media is to be consistent. If you can’t commit the time you may want to work with an agency that can take care of it for you. If a customer looks at your Facebook page and doesn’t see anything recent, they will probably think you’ve gone out of business. Contractors should be on YouTube because it’s an asset you can use on other social media sites. People go to YouTube searching for content so it can be a bit more relaxed than other forms of content. Putting out value without asking for something in return is how you build good faith with your audience and turn them into customers down the road. Facebook has an exceptional ad manager that allows you to control exactly who you target and how much money you spend. Social media shares and likes impact your search engine rankings very positively. Email Marketing Email marketing can be pretty complicated. Having an agency manage your list is usually your best choice. Analytics are one of the most important tools when it comes to communicating with your list via email. Websites Your website is your hub for all your digital marketing. It should function in a way that takes some of the work off yourself. Using blog posts and content will make you an expert in your space and improve your SEO. Make sure your website is always up to date! Install analytics on your site so you can understand your traffic and how your site is performing. You need a good partner to manage your site, keep up with software updates, and making sure it’s fulfilling your marketing goals. Create a lead magnet that gets your traffic onto your list. You can also ask for an email address in order to access a popular piece of content. Make sure the value of the lead magnet is worth it to the user so that they want to give you their email address. Your digital marketing and your offline marketing working together is what will give you immense success. It’s not a question of one or the other. Integrate your marketing efforts.
