It seems like the world of social media keeps on evolving—and the business of social media has been changing quite a bit over the last few years. To discuss that, I wanted to turn to Jasmine Enberg. She's a principal analyst covering social media at Insider Intelligence, the leading research, data and insights provider I happen to work at when I'm not bringing you this very podcast. On this episode, we unravel the complexities around TikTok, its bans outside the US and at the state level, its influence on young users, and the potential xenophobia in the discourse surrounding it.We also discuss the impact of Linda Yaccarino's appointment as Twitter's new CEO, and explore the future of social media, and how generative AI could play a major part. So, join us for this intriguing conversation——I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit in the process.

This month, Jon and Pierce watched three of David Cronenberg's squishy, fleshy, head-explodey films. Jon makes a big claim about eXistenZ and its comparison to The Matrix, The Brood makes for a weird exhibit in Cronenberg's 1970's divorce proceedings, and we experience the rare special effect that defines the movie that contains with it in Scanners. david_cast-enberg.mp3File Size: 54145 kbFile Type: mp3Download File [...]

Original Date: January 1, 2018This week's show is an interesting one that your friends in podcasting recorded together in Los Angeles. It starts with Dean describing two “Live Events of the Week” – a production of Something Rotten! and the debut Maurice and Paul Marciano Art Foundation exhibit at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center on Wilshire – and Phil describing the truly horrible Office Christmas Party and the terrific The Trip to Spain. The show continues with Dean's interview of one of the creative souls behind “The X-Files: Deep State” game. Then, Dean and Phil roll up their sleeves to figure out what's right with “Star Trek: Discovery”, what's wrong with it, and why viewers seem to hate it so much! All that plus a legendary broadcaster and a peerless singer are remembered in “Celebrity Deaths”. The first episode of YOUR Chillpak Hollywood Hour in 2018, wherever good podcasts can be found!

The 2005 Elite 8 matchup between Arizona and Illinois is thought of by some to be one of the best regional final games in NCAA Tournament history. It's one of those games where all of the stars aligned for a great March Madness moment that fans of the sport live for. The Fighting Illini had its best season in school history led by the legendary backcourt of Deron Williams, Dee Brown, and Luther Head. Add to that their road to the Final Four went through Rosemont Horizon and it was a great moment for the storied Big Ten program and this number one seed. On the other side was the 3-seed Arizona Wildcats led by legendary coach Lute Olsen, dynamic point guard Salim Stoudamire, and future pro Channing Frye. Hassan Adams also had a great game in this particular matchup as well. In this episode we discuss: How great this Illini team was The backcourt of Williams, Brown and Head and how it was trendsetting for the next generation of college basketball Lute Olsen and Bill Weber Bilas and Enberg on the call The Illini’s legendary comeback Pesky Arizona never giving an inch Stoudamire's underrated season The eventual UNC v Illinois championship game We talk all this and more on this episode of Distant Replay. In this episode, we speak with the Volunteer Network Program Director at North Coast Opportunities, a very active community-based organization in Northern California that works, in part, with counties and cities to ensure the needs of disaster victims are matched to all practical offers of assistance.
