Retailers, including Walmart and Kroger, issued recall warnings to consumers for cucumbers tied to potential salmonella contamination from a supplier. Walmart voluntarily recalled “Marketside Fresh Cut Cucumber Slices” at 34 Texas stores because of the potential for salmonella contamination. That includes several locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including three in Dallas, two in Plano and Garland along with other locales such as Allen, Frisco and McKinney. Kroger, which has several stores in D-FW, issued a recall for 36-count cucumber items sold in Dallas for purchases between Oct. 16 and Nov. 29. The moves come after SunFed Produce in Arizona recalled whole fresh American cucumbers packaged in bulk cardboard containers and were sold between Oct. 12 and Nov. 26. He was convicted of killing and dismembering three people more than three years ago in an Euless motel room. Next up, a Dallas Morning News investigation found that North Texas meth sentences are the longest in the nation. The News' analysis of 10 years of federal sentencing data from October 2013 through September 2023 shows that the national median sentence for a federal meth crime is six years. And Seager & Sons, a 1970s-inspired restaurant, is set to open in Plano next Tuesday. The restaurant is near State Highway 121 and the Dallas North Tollway, at the Boardwalk at Granite Park, where 33 Restaurant Group already owns Union Bear and Suburban Yacht Club. Many across Dallas mourned the loss of 46-year old police officer Darron Burks over the weekend as a friend, colleague and family member but also paid tribute to a man they said was selfless in the pursuit of helping others. Burks was killed in a southeast Oak Cliff shooting Thursday night. Dallas police Chief Eddie García said Burks was “executed” in his marked patrol car; Also, Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a brief with the state Supreme Court on Friday supporting a group behind a trio of Dallas charter amendment propositions that several City Council members openly opposed. If approved, the Dallas Hero proposals would mandate the city hire nearly 1,000 officers, waive governmental immunity for city officials and tie the city manager's evaluation to a community survey; the Abilene Christian football team's bus crashed in Lubbock after their narrow overtime loss to Texas Tech Saturday night. One player, two coaches and the bus driver suffered minor injuries and were transported to University Medical Center; and GameStop wants to bring you back to the time when you were playing The Legend of Zelda or Donkey Kong Country 2. The Grapevine-based retailer is launching “GameStop Retro” at four sites in North Texas with old-school devices and games that can reach back more than 20 years, according to a post on its website. Although he'd promised one of his daughters to do better, 49-year-old Jose Fernando Corona couldn't help but suspect his wife, 44-year-old Maria Santos Corona, of having an affair, though no evidence of such existed. He saw a curandera and attempted to use herbs and prayer to rectify the situation he'd most likely imagined. However, Jose could not let it go. Nothing was working in his mind. So, in April of 2010, he did the unthinkable. Instead of simply walking away, Jose murdered Maria in one of the most brutal ways imaginable. There's no doubt he's responsible, but since he fled to Mexico, and could be anywhere in Texas, Oklahoma, or Washington state at this point, Maria's six children have yet to see the man who killed their mother – their father – brought to justice. From CityofLewisville.com: On April 26, 2010, Jose Fernando Corona murdered his wife with a chainsaw. Investigators believe that Corona may have fled into Mexico on April 27, 2010 at Laredo, Texas. Corona has extended family members in Euless, Grapevine, Mineola, Austin, and Houston, Texas as well as in Oklahoma, Washington and Mexico.Anyone with information related to this offense is asked to call the Lewisville Police Department Tip Line at 972.219.TIPS (8477) or Denton County Crime Stoppers at 800.388.TIPS (8477). Hey, it's Mike Henry with Follower of One. Today I'm continuing what we've been talking about for the last two episodes: 1 Peter 4. Today, I'd like to talk about verses three and four for the time already passed is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles. Having pursued a course of sensuality, Euless, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties, and abominable idolatry. In all this, they're surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you. I'm almost disappointed at the different ways, the different translations struggle with these two verses the new living translation says this. You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy their immorality and law. Their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties. And they're terrible worship of idols. Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So, they signed, or you, I liked that translational a little bit better, even though I'm not sure it's a direct translation, but I think it communicates the idea. We just decided if you remember, from the previous episode, we decided that we didn't want to pursue living for ourselves anymore. We wanted instead to pursue living for the will of God. What will happen is that we will surprise our friends. We'll surprise our coworkers when we no longer plunge into whatever it was, we used to do, as we stopped doing the things we used to do, other people notice. The time of doing that is done. He's Peter saying, we've already spent enough time living the way we live living for ourselves now. And let's spend the rest of our lives living for God, but we will surprise our friends when we no longer plunge into what we used to do. And that way they will be surprised. Some may actually slander you or speak badly against you or malign you. These are not words that I commonly use anymore, but they will look down on us. They don't think that we are as smart as they are. They think that we're living by some other standard, but that's actually the twist that causes them to ask us. Why are you doing this? When we do something over and above what might be normally expected? They are curious. Others are curious, are former friends are surprised. It says in living translation, when we no longer do what they do, the time already passed is sufficient. And so, we can give this up and help them be surprised because we did not run with them into the same excess. Or the way that we used to live, we don't seem to live according to the same worldview, which is one of the common words we use or the same kind of mental model that other people live with. I want to challenge you today, look for ways to bend your life and follow Jesus instead of doing what you normally did. And others will be curious, they will be surprised, and they will ask, I think some will ask some will sign or. That's part of the price of being a Jesus follower. Some will look at you and go, well, that's silly, or that's stupid. They will think we're dumb. They will think we're dumb for living this way. And I feel sorry for them sometimes, because I believe we're right in the long-term, in the eternal long-term. And therefore, it could be a bad thing for them in the long-term. I experienced a lot of joy doing what Jesus has for me to do today. And I expect to experience joy throughout eternity as a result of following him as well. And I believe that some of our friends will ask, and some will speak badly of us today. I want to challenge you, bend your life to follow Jesus and watch what happens. I believe it's all part of his plan for our world. Thank you for being a marketplace minister and thank you for making a difference in your work. Follow him bend your life to follow the will of God instead of the loss of yourself and your flesh and watch what God does in the lives of the people around you. Thanks very much.

He is one of the first two Muslim Representatives ever elected to the Texas House as well as the first south Asian. But Rep. Salman Bhojani, a Democrat who represents Euless, Arlington, and other areas of Tarrant County, is used to being a first and he thinks that experience will help him in Austin… as will some of the bigotry and hate he endured on the campaign trail. Even the Quran he used to take the oath of office at the state Capitol is historic. In this episode of Y'all-itics, Rep. Bhojani joins a Jason and a Teresa to talk about his origin story and what he hopes to accomplish as a minority member of the minority party in a conservative state. Guest Rep. Salman Bhojani, (D) Euless
