This week, we're tackling some wild stats—like how 46% of Gen Z would choose to be "severed" to avoid experiencing their workday (as inspired by Apple TV's Severance).  We're also looking at the World Happiness Report where Finland is still the happiest (obviously), and the U.S. is now chilling at 24th place even though the current admin would have us believe we're #1. Since happiness is impacted by lacking social connections and eating too many meals alone, we chat about how the emphasis on solo travel and dining in recent years may be contributing to the loneliness epidemic. Another important way to boost happiness? Getting real about moving your body! We share our own experiences, whether we're crushing it at home or the gym, and what some of our biggest challenges for consistency are. We also talk being intimidated by going to the gym, and we have some good news: it's not all gym bros and sexy LA-types there, and fitness is for every BODY! And as always, we've got all the best recs for y'all: Don't sleep on your local community center gym (Pam), Meetup groups for dining, (Andrew), and Fitness Blender for free work out routines (Laura). And in this week's installment of After Dark, Andrew spills some tea he's been sitting on for a hot minute that we can only discuss behind the paywall. Pam and Laura offer some helpful (and maybe a little toxic) suggestions, but Andrew is PROTECTING HIS PEACE thank you very much! Head on over to our Patreon to listen in! In this episode Justin talks about how lonely, bored and alone he felt for years after deciding that he needed to make significant changes in his life. He shares how he had a strict Christian upbringing and had little confidence growing up. When he moved and was looking to meet new people, he would go out to the casino and the bar. Once he started to grow his social circles and get attention, his confidence grew and he says he exploited this.  His social circle grew quickly, he knew everyone, felt invincible and unstoppable. He would start to wake up from nights where he would get blackout drunk, as often as 4-5 nights a week. There was an event that took place one of these drunken nights that was the catalyst for a change. Justin needed to change his social circles and his habits so that he was able to reach the potential that deep down he knew that he had and had been wasting. He shares how he has turned his life around and how he is on a never ending journey to keep reaching even further potential.Justin Rille is a personal trainer of over 11 years who works out of his own training studio and has been online coaching nutrition and habit/mindset clients for over 15 years. He has also been spending his last 5 years in the States and Sweden studying neuroscience, in an effort to help people reduce their pain and move better instantly, through brain based training. Having done over 15 bodybuilding shows and 11 surgeries, he has many lessons in discipline, healthy habits, positive mindset and learning how to overcome adversity! He is a brand new Dad and is enjoying spending his days with his 3 month old son, Stone Bodhi Rille!Follow Justin on InstagramFollow Justin on Facebook

In part two of this series, I'm telling you about the basics of fitness.Fitness is everywhere. You can't scroll without noticing, it's on YouTube, streaming, cable, radio, and all places in-between. There are online programs, at-home programs, apps, trainers, and thousands of choices. This cast is all about keeping it simple, because you're a Cosplayer and you have enough stress as it is. How do you balance all of it?Simply put, programs I've tried (AthleanX, Active8Me, Fitness Blender to name a few) all work while you're doing them if you follow them completely. Fitness is very tough to combine with nutrition and stick with. I've been on and off with both for 20 years! I do not consider myself fit, but I have a lot of understanding on the subject having been a Personal Training and Martial Arts Coach for many years. The Cast intends to give you some simple tips on Fitness which you will hopefully take with you and use. Cosplay is for everyone, so this isn't a necessity, but for me and I would say many others out there - it's not about the vanity metrics so much as it is having enough energy to be present for others and bring the best version of yourself to the show that you can every time. Fitness and Nutrition help tremendously with that and I hope that this gives you a reminder or place to start in your journey with both Cosplay and Fitness.

My guest for Happy Hour #113 is Sarah Rodriguez. Sarah is an author, speaker, blogger at www.journeyofsarah.com and also the Huffington Post. She is the creator of the Choose Joy Project, a random-acts of kindness initiative to honor the life of her late husband Joel. Her life's greatest role is that of Mommy to Milo and Ellis. Sarah is a one time NYC transplant who now makes her home in Oklahoma, where the best sunsets on earth are found.  On today's show, Sarah shares her personal story of struggling with infertility, only to be followed by her husband's cancer diagnosis. She shares the painstaking three year journey of his diagnosis, treatment, cancer return and finally his passing. The details of Sarah's story are heartbreaking, but I think it's her perspective and response that will leave you feeling speechless and inspired. She describes how her suffering afforded her a relationship with God that she wouldn't have had otherwise, quoting Job 42.5 "I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you." You're going to need your tissues for this one. And to learn a lot more about Sarah's story, you can grab her book From Depths We Rise here. {You can listen to the showHERE.
