Ever find yourself caught in a loop of analyzing what you're feeling—trying to think your way through the ache, the confusion, the rage, the numbness? Or find that it feels easier to let your mind fix or solve the hard things rather than sense in or move with them? In this short practice episode, Jennifer England invites you into a somatic experience of feeling—beyond story, solving and fixing. Inspired by her recent conversation with therapist and writer Lisa Olivera, you're invited to drop the narrative and let music, movement, and presence guide you into a relationship with aliveness. You'll be guided through:A simple, intuitive practice to shift from analysis into sensation.Choosing music that mirrors your current emotional tone—no need for it to be calm or upbeat.A movement invitation that meets you exactly where you are—angry, tender, exhausted, joyful, or stuck.Whether you're overwhelmed, can't access how you're feeling, or somewhere in-between, this episode offers a powerful way to grow your fluency in feeling—by letting your body lead. Gratitude for this show's theme song Inside the House, composed by the talented Yukon musician, multi-instrumentalist and sound artist Jordy Walker. This episode is brought to you by LMNT, Maui Nui, and Birch Living.  When we think of stress, we often associate it with something negative—something to avoid. Our modern culture has fostered an environment of persistent chronic stress, yet at the same time, we've also eliminated beneficial stress by designing a life of chronic ease. Today's guest joins us to explain why stress isn't just unavoidable—it's essential for growth. Today on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with Jeff Krasno, CEO and co-founder of Commune, to explore the benefits of positive stress in our modern world. Jeff explains why chronic stress harms our health and longevity, while adaptive stress—like fasting and hot/cold exposure—has been key to human evolution and survival. He also shares how to evaluate your protocols, behaviors, and routines to ensure they keep you in balance. Jeff is the co-founder and CEO of Commune, a masterclass platform focused on personal and societal well-being, and the co-creator of Wanderlust, a global series of wellness events. He also hosts the Commune podcast. His latest venture, Good Stress: The Benefits of Doing Hard Things, expands on his personal story and wellness protocols. Drawing from over 400 podcast conversations and his own experiences, the book explores deliberate, self-imposed behaviors that enhance social, psychological, and physical well-being.  In this episode, Dhru and Jeff dive into: How chronic ease is leading to disease (00:37) How to befriend stress (5:44) Jeff's personal journey and the health challenges that shaped him (09:50) Fasting, hunger, and stress—how they can benefit you (23:34) Fasting recommendations for women and the importance of an individualized approach (26:50) Jeff's Substack insights on weight loss (32:42) Research on cold plunges, blood glucose, cancer, glutamate, immunotherapy, and more (36:50) The future of health, chronic disease, systemic issues, and the decline of public trust in health and food institutions (43:19) The impact of health podcasts, their practices, and how people are paying attention to new information (56:24) How to lean into stressful conversations—plus tips for tackling them (59:18) Evaluating our protocols, behaviors, and routines—do they help us find balance and return to center (1:19:50) Final thoughts (1:24:45) Also mentioned in this episode: Jeff's new book - Good Stress: The Health Benefits of Doing Hard Things Commune Podcast  Gabor Mate - Kiyumi retreat Thomas Seyfried's glutamate research KetoPet Sanctuary For more on Jeff, follow him on Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, and his Website. Today's episode of The UFFDA! Podcast is covering a topic that has been grazed by in numerous previous episodes, but takes a deeper dive into this one. If you want to achieve your deepest, most satisfying desires and goals then this is your episode! Introduction to the Episode - 0:53 --> Let's dive right into WHY you should do hard things! Why Choosing the Easy Route is Not Rewarding - 5:32 --> It comes to no surprise to hear that if something doesn't challenge you then it doesn't change you. So, if we continute to choose the "easy way out" through all of our endeavors, how can we expect to achieve what we want most? The Sneaky Benefit of Doing Hard Things - 9:54 --> Tune in to find out the sneaky, yet tremendous value in doing hard things. One Reason Why You Don't Choose to do Hard Things - 10:47 --> There's numerous reasons (some obvious, some not) as to why people choose NOT to do hard things. Here's a surprisingly fresh take to one of those reasons. Influence and Support from Coaching - 12:30 --> No surprise here, but it's worth a listen to hear Jordan's surprisingly fresh take on what role models, support, setting a standard, and fear have as an influence on doing hard things. The Power of Intention - 19:09 --> What if everything boiled down to intention, specifically your intention? What if focusing on being intentional in everything you do, especially when it comes down to your health and fitness, is the ONE THING you need to do to have the ultimate success. The Fear of Failure - 24:00 --> We end today's episode with yet another surprisingly fresh take in regards to "failure". Fear of failure is another reason why people avoid doing hard things, but what if success is directed correlated to failure? What would you do differently if you couldn't fail? Ice baths, 4 AM wake-up calls, fasts and more are garnering big-time attention on social media and elsewhere as paths to mental toughness, personal success and more. Beyond the 15 minutes of fame garnered by the post, is there any legitimate science behind these and other less dramatic ways to step into and through discomfort? And why, in the midst of the growing popularity of these strategies, do most of us often find it difficult – not to step into an ice bath - but to simply get off the couch and get moving? What does the science – the evidence - tell us? Is an ability to do hard things due to genetics? Habit?  A combination of the two? Are there ways to enhance our ability to step into challenges with purpose? Or are we just stuck with the way we are, with no practical ways in which to enhance our skill set in this realm? In this episode, we'll dig into these questions and more as we explore the part of the brain that appears to play a significant role in the process of moving outside our veritable comfort zones, and why it's so important to both our current and future lives. Hey Friends, In this last episode of the season, I sit down with Tara Rhodes, a certified leadership coach, to talk all about the concept of ambition. Tara shares her story of how her ambition has impacted both her personal and professional relationships and the self-reflection process she underwent to shift her focus from being overly ambitious and task-oriented to being driven and values-driven. We discuss the pros and cons of both being task-oriented and relationship-oriented, the credibility of personality tests, the perception of the word 'ambition', the significance of feedback and communication in personal growth, and how Tara's coaching journey has impacted her perception of ambition. As an award-winning trainer and facilitator and a certified leadership coach, Tara Rhodes helps emerging leaders define a vision for their leadership so that the people they influence can do their best work. She has been lucky to work with entry level to executive level employees at various company stages, and has come to understand that purpose driven companies can only be successful when their people are confident to do the work required. Ultimately she is dedicated to helping people gain clarity on the life they want to live, and supporting them develop healthy habits to make that happen. A wife, and mom to two lively boys, she actively practices what she preaches to maintain a healthy balance and presence in her day-to-day life.  Listen in as we talk about: What's important to know about Tara Tara's Love for Learning The Negative Side of Ambition The Impact of Ambition on Tara's Relationships Turning Point: Starting Coaching Training Understanding and Embracing the Shadow Side Masculine Energy and its Relationship to Ambition The Role of Personality Tests in Self-Understanding Balancing Task Orientation with People Focus The Power of Vulnerability and Feedback Applying Self-Awareness in Personal Relationships The Shift from Ambition to Driven How to approach highly ambitious Individuals Episode Sponsors Join Arbonne 30 Days to Healthy Living (https://www.arbonne.com/ca/en/arb/jessicastephenstoronto/healthy-living/30-days)  Or start a subscription and save with 20% off every order and free shipping!
