Don't Change! Become!Today, I felt led to start with this poem I read the other day because it beautifully demonstrates that we don't always understand what God is doing. We think we are a mess, we feel like we are falling apart, we feel like God has abandoned us, and yet God is ALWAYS right there in the middle of it all! He knows exactly what He is doing and wants us to trust Him in the process. This poem gives us some insight into that process.  I feel it makes it a little easier to trust when we have a bit of understanding. This conversation is between someone and God.Me: Hey God.God: Hello.....Me: I'm falling apart. Can you put me back together?God: I would rather not.Me: Why?God: Because you aren't a puzzle.Me: What about all of the pieces of my life that are falling down onto the ground?God: Let them stay there for a while. They fell off for a reason. Take some time and decide if you need any of those pieces back.Me: You don't understand! I'm breaking down!God: No - you don't understand. You are breaking through. What you are feeling are just growing pains. You are shedding the things and the people in your life that are holding you back. You aren't falling apart. You are falling into place. Relax. Take some deep breaths and allow those things you don't need anymore to fall off of you. Quit holding onto the pieces that don't fit you anymore. Let them fall off. Let them go. Me: Once I start doing that, what will be left of me?God: Only the very best pieces of you.Me: I'm scared of changing.God: I keep telling you - YOU AREN'T CHANGING!! YOU ARE BECOMING!Me: Becoming who?God: Becoming who I created you to be! A person of light and love and charity and hope and courage and joy and mercy and grace and compassion. I made you for more than the shallow pieces you have decided to adorn yourself with that you cling to with such greed and fear. Let those things fall off of you. I love you! Don't change! ... Become! Become! Become who I made you to be. I'm going to keep telling you this until you remember it. Me: There goes another piece.God: Yep. Let it be. Me: So ... I'm not broken?God: Of course Not! - but you are breaking like the dawn. It's a new day. Become!!!~Author John Roedel I know many of you are struggling right now. Whether it is with health issues, money issues, or in the process of losing old friends and making new friends, I think this poem shows us that God can use these hard times to help us step into the person we are meant to be. The person He knows we are capable of being. There are several things I love about this poem. The first is the gentleness of God. He is so good. I think this poem demonstrates the love that God has for us. He didn't say no when she asked if God would put her back together. He said He would rather not. He then went on to explain why He felt that way. Notice how He didn't get short with her. He didn't seem irritated or annoyed with her. We often imagine God feels that way about us. We tell ourselves that He is tired of us coming and asking the same thing. We imagine He wondering why we can't seem to get it together already. If we are honest, we have felt that way about our loved ones before. God is not us. He doesn't have to wonder why we can't get it together. He knows. He made us. He knows everything we have ever done and everything we will ever do.I also love that God doesn't tell her never again to pick up the pieces that fell off. He tells her to take some time and decide whether she needs them. Maybe you are going through this shedding process right now. Maybe you are losing friends, workers, loved ones, or even material things. God isn't telling you that they are gone forever. He is saying take some time and see if you need them. Do they bring joy into your life? Do they make you a better person? Do they help you grow closer to the Lord? Are they helping you on your journey to heaven? If the answer to some of these questions are yes, maybe you can pick them back up again. Take the time to ask questions. Pay attention to the answers. Don't pick them back up again because it is hard without them. Don't pick them up again because it is easier with them or you miss them. It is normal to want to. When you are tempted to pick back up the ones that are not good for you, remember what the poem said, “What you are feeling are just growing pains. You are shedding the things and the people in your life that are holding you back. You aren't falling apart. You are falling into place. Relax. Take some deep breaths and allow those things you don't need anymore to fall off of you. Quit holding onto the pieces that don't fit you anymore. Let them fall off. Let them go.The last part that I want to draw your attention to is what the poem says about changing. Listen to that part again. “Me: Once I start doing that, what will be left of me?God: Only the very best pieces of you.Me: I'm scared of changing.God: I keep telling you - YOU AREN'T CHANGING!! I'm going to keep telling you this until you remember it.”Isn't that just like God? He keeps telling us something until we believe Him. And for most of us, He has to tell us a lot. God is telling you, yes you, right now that He is with you in this. He tells you that He sees you, not for who you think you are, but who you really are. He sees the you that He created you to be even if you aren't there yet. He knows your journey and isn't frustrated that you aren't there yet because He knows exactly when you will arrive there. He knows exactly what obstacles you are struggling with. We actually had a word or prophecy at my Thursday morning prayer group in June 2024.  God assured us, “I am there among your trials and your joys. I am the God who loves you, who cares. I am never displeased or impatient with you. I place my hope in you.”This message is not just for my prayer group. This is a message for all of His children. This is something I believe he really wants us to know. We get impatient with our children. We get disappointed with them. God is telling us He is not like that. He knows our innermost thoughts. He knows everything we are going through. He knows our hearts. He knows how badly we want to do the right thing, and yet we tend to do the wrong thing. This is not unique to you. That is all of us. If Paul, who is credited with writing about half of the New Testament books, can admit to this, we can be sure we all struggle with this problem. In Romans 7:19-20 Paul said, “For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I that do it, but sin which dwells within me.” God knows we are broken. He knows we struggle. He doesn't get disappointed. Instead, He celebrates every time we don't give in to temptation. Every time we mess up, we can bring that to God with the assurance that He welcomes us with open arms and celebrates because we came home instead of being upset we messed up.Dear Heavenly Father, we ask you to bless everyone listening to this episode. Dad, we thank you so much for loving us so much, for always being there for us, for helping us become who you created us to be, for your patience with us as we become that person, and for forgiving us again and again. You are so wonderful. You are our perfect father, and we are so grateful for all you do for us! Dad, could you give us the strength not to pick back up those pieces that have fallen that we don't need? It is hard to leave them there when our life seemed easier with them. Give us the strength to keep moving forward without them. Dad, could you also fill us up to the tipitey top with hope that things will be ok because it doesn't always feel like it will be. Help us to feel you right because of us. Maybe hold our hand as we walk side by side. That way, we know you are there. We love you, Dad, and we ask all of this in Jesus's mighty name; amen!!Thank you so much for joining me on this journey to walk boldly with Jesus. THANKSGIVING SERVICE 29.08.21 Topic: Thank At Your Will. Objective: To know the importance of knowing and submitting to the will of God as a lifestyle in the attitude of thanksgiving. Key Notes: Scripture Texts: Leviticus 22:29; Romans 12:1-2 Spiritual hunger is a result of staying away of from studying and meditating on the word of God. A believer who is hungry experiences fear, lack of love and incessant fall into temptations. God ONLY appeals to Man; not force, manipulate,or threaten Man to follow Him or do His biding. God desires for Man to thank at his own will. Which is only possible when man's will aligns with the will of God. The scripture in Romans 12 reveals that, the only way our giving to God can be pleasing and done in a proper way is when we know the will of God, submit and align our will to His. The will of God is good for man, acceptable (that is, pleasurable to God and acceptable by man) and perfect for God. Every time God presents His will to man and is accepted by man, man's will becomes intertwined with his will. This makes man thank God for His will at his his own will. Therefore, the more you submit to the will of God; the more you align to His will and the will of God becomes the will you now operate with. Until God's will becomes your will, you cannot praise as a lifestyle. in essence, those who thank God at their own will have their will dead and actually operating in/and with the will of God reigning in them. The ability to have the will of God entails pains. The sacrifice of praise endears The Father's heart towards a man; it is therefore important to die daily to your will and be more alive to accept the will of God. What is therefore the sacrifice of thanksgiving? It is ones will that has been sacrificed for God's will. It is refusing ones will and allowing God's will to reign, irrespective of the pain/cost. Welcome in to the show that my middle daughter says is a little bit too long, but C.S. Lewis has called the finest podcast he's ever listened to. Today's Scriptures feature the emotional reuniting of Joseph with his brothers and Benjamin in Genesis 43. We also find out the interesting tidbit that Egyptians consider it disgusting to eat at the same table as Hebrews for some odd reason. Sadly, the sin and stain of racism finds a foothold in almost every culture and people. In Job 9 we see Job answering the charges of his 'friend' Bildad, who has suggested that Job's children were killed because of their sins and he has urged Job to turn to God and be healed and refreshed, but Job says that he is too afraid of God to seek Him. Mark 13 is a much shorter version of the Olivet Discourse from Matthew 24, and it is centered on the end-times teaching of Jesus. Romans 13 urges Christians to submit to governing authorities, to be good citizens and to put on the person and ways of the Lord Jesus Christ, instead of the ways of the world. Today we will conclude (or, rather pause) our discussion of dreams, visions and the more supernatural gifts of the Spirit. It is a subject we will return to in earnest at the end of February when we read 1 Corinthians 12-14, which represents the longest extended teaching in the Bible on the gifts of the Spirit. We received an anonymous bit of feedback on the the website today, and also heard from quite a few people on social media, most of whom seemed to indicate that they had an experience or two with God communicating to them via dreams. I have dreamed a true dream. I will not give the details, because it does not reflect well upon the dreamer nor those dreamt of. But it happened on a Saturday night, and it came to pass, with some metaphorical license, the following morning. From this dream I learned that the praise and worship of the Living God is of infinitely more importance than our individual strife. In considering whether or not spiritual gifts like tongues, prophecy and the like have ceased, and the very related question of whether God still speaks to His people via dreams and visions, it should be noted that the Bible does not make an obvious separation between what most would call 'supernatural' gifts and the more mundane gifts. For instance, consider our passage from yesterday in Romans 12, and then read the short list in 1 Corinthians 12: 6 According to the grace given to us, we have different gifts: If prophecy, use it according to the proportion of one's faith; 7 if service, use it in service; if teaching, in teaching; 8 if exhorting, in exhortation; giving, with generosity; leading, with diligence; showing mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:6-8  28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, various kinds of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in other tongues? Do all interpret? 31 But desire the greater gifts. 1 Corinthians 12:28 In these two lists, we see that there seems to be no delineation between gifts like healing, tongues and prophecy and gifts like teaching, helping, administrating, giving and service. If the Bible somehow taught that SOME of those gifts (that we are twice commanded to desire) will cease very soon after the compilation of the New Testament, then one would think that the New Testament writers would clearly categorize the gifts between temporary and permanent, but the very opposite is true. They are all mixed together in spiritual gift lists in a way that seems to argue against some of them being temporary and some permanent. Sam Storms, writing for the Gospel Coalition (which is a group of Christians that are devoted to Jesus and His Word - and includes BOTH cessationists like Thomas Schreiner and continuationists like Storms) makes the case that there does not seem to be any Scripture that indicates that some of the listed gifts will cease at some point. (With the exception of 1 Corinthians 13:8, discussed yesterday) Furthermore, beginning with Pentecost and continuing throughout the book of Acts, whenever the Spirit is poured out on new believers they experience his charismata. There is nothing to indicate these phenomena were restricted to them and then. Such appear to be both widespread and common in the NT church. Christians in Rome (Rom. 12), Corinth (1 Cor. 12-14), Samaria (Acts 8), Caesarea (Acts 10), Antioch (Acts 13), Ephesus (Acts 19), Thessalonica (1 Thess. 5), and Galatia (Gal. 3) experience the miraculous and revelatory gifts. It's difficult to imagine how the NT authors could have spoken any more clearly about what new covenant Christianity is supposed to look like. In other words, the burden of proof rests with the cessationist. If certain gifts of a special class have ceased, the responsibility is his or hers to prove it. We must also give room to the explicit and oft-repeated purpose of the charismata: namely, the edification of Christ's body (1 Cor. 12:7; 14:3, 26). Nothing I read in the NT or see in the condition of the church in any age, past or present, leads me to believe we've progressed beyond the need for edification—and therefore beyond the need for the contribution of the charismata. I freely admit that spiritual gifts were essential for the birth of the church, but why would they be any less important or needful for its continued growth and maturation? There is also the fundamental continuity or spiritually organic relationship between the church in Acts and the church in subsequent centuries. No one denies there was an era or period in the early church that we might call “apostolic.” We must acknowledge the significance of the personal, physical presence of the apostles and their unique role in laying the foundation for the early church. But nowhere does the NT ever suggest that certain spiritual gifts were uniquely and exclusively tied to them or that the gifts passed with their passing. The universal church or body of Christ that was established and gifted through the ministry of the apostles is the same universal church and body of Christ today. We are together with Paul and Peter and Silas and Lydia and Priscilla and Luke members of the same one body of Christ. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/article/continuationist/ Sam Storms Ultimately, I agree with Storms. The burden of proof is on the cessationist to show that certain New Testament teachings are no longer valid or applicable, and I have yet to read a cessationist argument from Scripture that demonstrates this. Yes, there are absolutely people who go way beyond the bounds of the Bible in their practice of some spiritual gifts but this counterfeit behavior (which could be demonic in some cases, or simply fleshly immaturity in others) does not disprove the genuine and biblical operation of some spiritual gifts any more than the prevalence of false teachers in the U.S. today invalidates the possibility of any real Bible teaching. I believe that Peter's quote in Acts 2 settles the issue of the contemporary occurrence of dreams and visions from God for us. God promises in the Old and New Testament that He will pour out His Spirit on people "in the last days," and that they will see visions and dream dreams. This passage indicates that dreams and visions will happen in the last days. Since Peter suggests that Pentecost is a fulfillment of Joel's prophecy about the Spirit being poured out and dreams/visions coming, then I can't see how that is not valid for us today. I don't think we've moved past 'the last days,' and I see no Scripture in the entire Bible that indicates that God has stopped speaking to His people in these ways. And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit on all people; then your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. 18 I will even pour out my Spirit on my servants in those days, both men and women and they will prophesy. Acts 2:17-18 Let's be real: Would it be easier if God ONLY spoke to Christians through His Word? Would it be less messy, easier to manage, etc? Absolutely it would. There are way too many false prophets and false dreamers out there, and you can see them daily in your social media feed, and you can easily find them by turning on your television. So many false teachers and believers out there that are preying on widows and stealing from the vulnerable. Unfortunately, most of them seem to be of the continuationist/charismatic bent. But humans and church leaders don't get to make the call that God no longer does this or that because some people are abusing it. We don't have that power. Instead, we must seek to hold people to the Word of God, rather than nullify it. We uphold the absolute authority of God's Word - not by changing it to stamp out heresy, but by walking according to it. 19 Don't stifle the Spirit. 20 Don't despise prophecies, 21 but test all things. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay away from every kind of evil. 1 Thessalonians 5:19-20 DON'T stifle the Spirit DON'T despise prophecies Test ALL things HOLD on to what is GOOD STAY AWAY from every kind of EVIL. 19 When they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the spiritists who chirp and mutter,” shouldn't a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living? 20 Go to God's instruction and testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, there will be no dawn for them. Isaiah 8:19-20 Should we separate over these issues? I do not believe so. We will discuss this question in depth in two days, when we get to Paul's beautiful and majestic call to oneness in Romans 15. I'll close with two more gems from Spurgeon. One a dream with a profound meaning and the other a caution about the importance of esteeming dreams and extra-biblical revelation overmuch. A certain king would build a cathedral, and, that the credit of it might be all his own, he forbade anyone to contribute to its erection in the least degree. A tablet was placed in the side of the building, and on it his name was carved as the builder. But one night he saw in a dream an angel, who came down, and erased his name; and the name of a poor widow appeared in its stead. This was three times repeated, when the enraged king summoned the woman before him, and demanded, “What have you been doing, and why have you broken my commandment?” The trembling widow replied, “I loved the Lord, and longed to do something for his name, and for the building up of his church. I was forbidden to touch it in any way, so in my poverty I brought a wisp of hay for the horses that drew the stones.” Then the king saw that he had laboured for his own glory, but the widow for the glory of God, and he commanded that her name should be inscribed upon the tablet C. H. Spurgeon, My Sermon Notes & 2: Genesis to Malachi, vol. 1 (Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software, 2009), 369–370. Remember, it is “whosoever calls upon the name of God,” not whosoever dreams about him. Dreams may do good. Sometimes people have been frightened out of their senses in them; and they were better out of their senses than they were in, for they did more mischief when they were in their senses than they did when they were out; and the dreams did good in that sense. Some people, too, have been alarmed by dreams; but to trust to them is to trust to a shadow, to build your hopes on bubbles, scarcely needing a puff of wind to burst them into nothingness. Oh, remember, you want no vision, no marvellous appearance! If you have had a vision, or a dream, you need not despise it; it may have benefited you: but do not trust to it C. H. Spurgeon, Words of Wisdom for Daily Living (Bellingham, WA: Logos Bible Software, 2009), 89–90.

God is always working through the unexpected...at least by our standards. Why do we doubt?  Why do we hold back?  Why do we resist the altogether love of God? Only when we fully accept the Altogether Love of God can we EVER come to know LOVE at all.  Only then can we truly understand how to love ourselves and others. Are we ready to believe this good news?

Outline: For many of us, work will make up a majority of our lifetime. Ideally we should enjoy our work, but often many do not. Matter of fact, some even hate their jobs. So how can we change this? From Ecclesiastes 2:18-26, 4 Stop and Think Moments: 1. No matter how hard you work for earthly rewards, you can’t take it with you when you die! (v.18, 21) Jesus warns us in Parable of Rich Fool. (Luke 12:15-21) Jesus gives us new way of thinking. (Matthew 6:19-21) 2. Stressing about work does no good. (v.23) Don’t worry! Be happy, because God has you covered. (Matthew 6:31-34) 3. Can’t truly enjoy life unless you enjoy God. (v.24-25) Joy comes from God! (John 15:11, Romans 14:17) 4. Conclusion: Pleasing yourself is a dead end! Pleasing God has eternal reward! (v.26) How to be good in the eyes of God? Only through Jesus! “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor. 5:21) Reflection on your work: Is God seen? People feel loved? Lives changed?

In ancient times people believed in gods of one kind or another and the gods lived in a different world, an unseen world, so they made idols. There’s a simple logic in this. Something bigger than us it seemed was in charge of what happened at a mega level of cosmic activity and design, the weather, the seasons, life and death, what appeared to be good fortune and bad fortune etc. So they did their best to manage the moods or whims of the unpredictable gods with a thousand superstitious rituals ranging from the trivial to the murderous. But our Creator God of the Bible did reveal himself to his beloved humanity to do them good, and he finally asked his people to make a home for him to dwell in upon Earth, where he would come and meet with them. The man he asked was Solomon. Solomon’s prayer to dedicate the temple held within it this extraordinary idea of a meeting place on earth between man, and the God who lived in a world of his own. Their heart was to have heaven come to them upon the earth. 2Chronicles 6:18 But will God really live upon the earth with men? Why, even the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain you--how much less this Temple I have built!(Acts 7:48 AND 17:24) (Job 19:25 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my body I will see God) "O How I pray that you will heed my prayers, O Lord my God! Listen to my prayer that I am praying to you now! Look down with favor day and night upon this Temple--upon this place where you have said that you would put your name. May you always hear and answer the prayers I will pray to you as I face toward this place. 1. Prayer for God’s justice in oppression 2. Recovery from the blows of the enemy 3. Providing resources to prosper the work of our hands 4. Healing and remedy of the plight of one who knows their own burden and their own grief and spreads out their hands to God. 5. That a foreigner can pray to you and be heard so that all people who don’t know you will come to know your name and know your temple is called by your name 6. Victory when we enter into battle. 7. Supernatural release after being taken captive. John 2:18 So the Jews said to him, “What sign do you show us for doing these things?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days?” But he was speaking about the temple of his bodyThe temple was destroyed 40 years later and was never rebuilt. It did not have to be rebuilt as now we are his temple, just as he was the temple. 1Cor 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought with a price; John 14:23 We will come and make our home with you How can we contain God?Only by being an open vessel, always filled and overflowing..

John 6:22-40 1. The capacity to believe is a gift from God, v. 37 A) Calvinism- an attempt to summarize the doctrines emphasized by John Calvin T- total depravity of man U- unconditional election L- limited atonement I- irresistible grace P- perseverance of the saints B) Arminianism- an attempt to summarize the doctrines emphasized by Jacob Arminius 1) Partial Depravity- humanity is depraved but still able to seek God. 2) Conditional election- God only chooses those whom He knows will choose to believe. 3) Unlimited Atonement- Jesus died for everyone, even those who will not believe 4) Resistible Grace- God's call to be saved can be resisted or rejected 5) Conditional Salvation- Christian can lose their salvation if they actively reject the Holy Spirit’s influence in their life C) Biblicist- a willingness to simply believe everything the Bible teaches even when it disagrees with my preferences. ** Notice the balance of v. 37... “All that the Father gives to me will come to me”- affects how I pray! “whoever comes to me I will never cast out”- whosoever will 2. For the Christian there is great assurance, v. 39 “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” -Philippians 1:6 “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” -Ephesians 4:30 3. The work of the son is central to the gift of the Father, v. 40 ”How are you righteous before God?” Only by true faith in Jesus Christ. In spite of the fact that my conscience accuses me that I have grievously sinned against all the commandments of God, and have not kept any one of them, and that I am still ever prone to all that is evil, nevertheless, God, without any merit of my own, out of pure grace, grants me the benefits of the perfect sacrifice of Christ, imputing to me his righteousness and holiness as if I had never committed a single sin or had ever been sinful, having fulfilled myself all the obedience which Christ has carried out for me, if only I accept such favor with a trusting heart.

Impact Master's Commission Bible Study

What was it Jesus was doing here? How do we read / Hear this sermon? - 17"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. 18"For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished. 19"Whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others [to do] the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches [them], he shall be calledgreat in the kingdom of heaven.20"For I say to you that unless your righteousness surpasses [that] of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enterthe kingdom of heaven. He is rewriting the law in the ears of his hearers. Rewriting it the way it was originally meant to be read and heard. He is giving us our interpretive key for the Old Testament. He is unlearning them the things they had heard and understood from their culture and from their rabbis.  The Sermon on the Mount; The Beatitudes1When Jesus saw the crowds, He went up on the mountain; and after He sat down, His disciples came to Him. 2He opened His mouth and [began] to teach them, saying,3"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Lets start at the beginning - Lets get one thing straightRealize your povertyRomans 11:35 - 35Or WHO HAS FIRST GIVEN TO HIM THAT IT MIGHT BE PAID BACK TO HIM AGAIN?You know nothing and have nothing to bring to the table. You are compeletly wrong in the way you look at the world. Start by taking every idea in your head and realizing it is worthless. Our lives are a vapor - here one minute and gone the nextAnything we have came to us from God in the first placeAnything we do or make -the ability to do that thing came from God because we are innately flawed and broken everything we do and or create is deeply flawed and broken as wellwe have no ability to be righteouswe have no ability to be truly and deeply good because within our own attempts to be good there are motives which are selfish and broken.happy are those who realize that they have nothing, God owes them nothing - they live in the full and constant knowledge of their spiritual, tangible and moral bankruptcy - we have a word for this attitude - Repentance Jesus is clearing the table - Don’t think you can add what I am saying to your store of spiritual knowledge - this isn’t a conversation - Joy will be found in the abandonment of all the stuff you have in your hands Why are these people happy?????? - “for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven” - all of it. The Kingdom belongs to those who know the truth about themselves - we have nothing - But God would give us everything!Luke 18:16 But Jesus called for them, saying, "Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.Luke 12:32 - Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has chosen gladly to give you the kingdom.Isaiah 57:15 - For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy, I dwell in the high and holy place: with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite onesJames 4:6 - But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”Psalm 14:6 - You would shame the plans of the poor,It is only in this place of spiritual poverty that we can begin to receive from God - Only a cup that is empty can be filledOnly a student who knows nothing can learn everythingMatt 19:23-24 - 23And Jesus said to his disciples, “Truly, I say to you, only with difficulty will a rich person enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.”"the eye of a needle” - was the small “door-size” gate that was left open at night. Camel’s could not get through it while carrying anything on their backs and even then they would be forced to get down on all thier knees and crawl. The kingdom of heaven cannot be earned - It can only be given. The kingdom of heaven can only be received by GRACE as a gift from God Gal 2:21I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousnessc were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.Rom 11:6 But if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace. If you attempt to earn grace you will lose it - Gal 5:4 4You have been severedfrom Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. In Christ we must repent of our sins - but we must also repent of our selfrightouesnessEither we wear OUR righteousness or we wear Christ’s righteousness - we cannot have it both waysEither we are spiritually poor - or we do not receive the kingdom of heaven

A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Thanks for joining me today for "A Little Walk with God." I'm your host Richard Agee. Does God have a mission for you that might just change the world? Sometimes He gives someone a simple message that does just that. Scripture Luke 22:52-53 Jesus: Do you think I'm some sort of violent criminal? Is that why you came with swords and clubs? I haven't been hard to find—each day I've been in the temple in broad daylight, and you never tried to seize Me there. But this is your time—night—and this is your power—the power of darkness. Devotional In just a few days we will celebrate Martin Luther King Day in the United States. This year it is on January 16th if you don't have a calendar handy. Through the years there has been some controversy about whether or not we should have a holiday celebrating his birth, but there is a lot of controversy today about celebrating Jesus birth, too. A lot of difference in the two, but there are a few similarities, too. Spiritual leader in the sixties Divided the nation about how we should understand humankind Promoted peace, not violence Understood there would never be an end to violence this side of eternity Life snuffed out because of his preaching Martin Luther Named after great protestant reformer Baptist preacher Decried injustice between blacks and whites in the 50's and 60's Became the symbol for peaceful demonstration to demand equality Never wanted violence and consistently condemned those who did Was willing to die for the cause he supported Jesus' words today remind us He came in peace, too. Preached daily Kingdom of heaven is here Repent and be saved Believe in the Son of God Only act that approached violence was turning the tables over in the temple and driving out the money changers Career was one of healing, forgiveness, salvation Openly shared His mission, given to Him by the Father Was not afraid of death Am I as committed to the mission God has given me? Sharing His Love Forgiveness Mercy Grace Testifying of what he has done for me If you want to learn more about my church, you can find us at SAF.church. If you like the devotional, share it with someone. If you don't, tell me. I hope you'll join me again tomorrow for "A Little Walk with God."

Are the 2 covenants in agreement? These are issues that are coming to the forefront. Is the Hebraic Roots Movement a true move of God? Only the Word of God can point the way. Do you have faith to believe it? Let us not give way to division. Let us take a time out and focus on what God has given us in His Word. This is a message that will help the weary find rest. Scripture Ref:Topic: Blessings & BrokenessNotes:- Feeding of multitudes- Every gift is to be given away- God never does as you expect; requires someone give something up- He multiplies what is given- God never takes without blessing; never blesses without breaking- Make me like Jesus; everything must be removed between me and God- Only what is blessed, is broken- Jonah-a storm was prepared for him because he hadn't yielded- Jonah was a racist who refused to obey, but entire city was saved- We can be used by God even when our attitude or mood is negative- We own nothing
