We can't get enough of army camp stories. Each year we dedicate the first week of July to army stories in celebration of Army Day in Singapore. This is the second and final instalment of this theme for 2024. We got more stories for the Navy, Guard duty at Tekong, Office Chair that move on its own at Stagnant camp, and and a whole slew of short stories submitted to us in real time during the live show. We even ask our audience which is the most haunted camp in Singapore and the answer isn't really surprising. We'll be back in July 2025 with part IV and part V of Army Stories, but for now, enjoy the podcast with your hosts Eugene Tay and Jonathan Lim, only on Supernatural Confessions. * Supernatural Confessions was created and produced by Eugene Tay. Richard Stachurski joined the US Air Force in 1962, on the cusp of the Cuban Missile Crisis as a security police officer guarding nuclear-armed B-58 Hustler bombers.Within two years he volunteered for the Minuteman nuclear missile program where he served as a Deputy Missile Combat Crew Commander with the 68th Strategic Missile Squadron at Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. Richard was the junior officer on a two-man crew in a launch control capsule buried beneath the South Dakota prairie who was charged with monitoring the status and launching if necessary ten Minuteman ICBMs. In 1965 he was selected as one of 128 Air Force officers to be loaned to NASA to support the activation and operation of the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas. He worked his way up to being a Network Controller, who sat two consoles to the right of the Flight Director in the Mission Operations Control Room. He was responsible for all the ground systems that supported an Apollo mission and was selected as the lead Network Controller on Apollo 11 working on both the launch from Earth and the first-ever launch from the lunar surface. Friday Night Fights is all about United States Army Soldiers blowing off some steam and raising morale while competing in boxing matches in Iraq in 2003. General Odierno, our commanding General, even showed up for a night of fights and called a United States Senator to listen to the crowd. I had to perform guard duty a couple of times, and escorted the Porta Potty sucker truck that ended up being hilarious. The formerly known as The Washington Redskins cheerleaders paid us a visit through the USO during the fall of 2003. I got a chance to go home for R and R for 14 days which was great but also hard to leave my family again. https://millersmilitarymoments.com

As representatives of the 'Full Gospel' of Jesus Christ, our mission is to lead individuals with the whole counsel of God into a strong growing relationship with Jesus Christ. “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery. Hey Storytellers,Guard duty in most campaigns is just used at night while the players sleeping, but how else can you use this?Learn more at https://skullrpg.comGet the free Tell Your Story course here: https://skullrpgbooks.vipmembervault.com/products/courses/view/1047566/?action=signup You can use guard duty to escort a person or thing to a place. This could be a scientist, cure for a disease, secret plans, a little girl with new magic than many will want to kill.In many ways, this is the Mandalorian. The child, "baby Yoda," is more of a liability than help because he slows down the Mandalorian and could be killed easily.I would create a chart (gasp) to create the major obstacles to extract (think rescue or kidnapping episodes). Then list ways you can see your players overcoming each and what happens if they fail. I also like to have ways that my players can recover from a failure throughout the adventure. Different levels of failure is what I strive for so they can limit the damage coming to them, but maybe not always prevent it.

Wouldn’t it be helpful to know if other cloud users are seeing the same or similar attacks that you are? Security intelligence about cloud applications beyond just those you own and operate as an enterprise opens up a new dimension in attack visibility against an even large sets of cloud apps. Sumo Logic announced its extending their machine analytics and intelligence platform to include AWS Guard Duty during AWS re:Inforce 2019. Dubbed Global Intelligence Service for Amazon GuardDuty, the new service is more than just a data aggregation and reporting play. The new service provides additional context around GuardDuty data by reporting attack information across multiple Sumo Logic customers using AWS GuardDuty. Essentially a “crowdsourcing” approach to reporting threat intelligence across the cloud. In this episode of DevOps Chat, David Andrejewski, Senior Engineering Manager at Sumo Logic, joins us to talk about this new, more expansive threat intelligence service. More information about Global Intelligence Service for Amazon GuardDuty is available in the press release and website at https://www.sumologic.com/application/aws-guardduty/ .

Show host and producer Chris O'Regan talks to Nathan Hamley of Sick Chicken Studios about how Guard Duty came into being. When telling a story within the medium of a videogame, it important to provide suitably subtle hints as to how to progress and thus reward them for their ability to fathom relatively complex puzzles. It is this that drives people through point and click adventures more than anything, and Guard Duty by Sick Chicken Studios leans heavily into this to provide a very entertaining entry into the well trodden genre. http://media.blubrry.com/caneandrinse/caneandrinse.com/sausage/TSF_Episode223.mp3 The Sausage Factory 223 was produced and edited by Chris O'Regan

This second part of AWS compliance, identity, and security-related services should feel familiar. These are solutions that nearly everyone needs, and has used, at some point. Fortunately, these have free tiers and tutorials to help any user get started with them and building them into your environment in the cloud. Cloud Directory This is an all-important LDAP related service. The power that the Amazon service brings to this universal need is the ability to integrate and go across multiple directories instead of a single one at a time. There is a free tier along with some excellent examples to help you get started. Guard Duty This is an attack analytics tool that does not require an installation on your servers. That alone should be enough to pique your interest if you have ever had to use these applications before. Although powerful, these applications tend to be a bit of a chore to install and configure. Guard Duty takes that annoying setup out of the equation and removes all excuses for being proactive with your security Certificate Manager Google has made sure we all care about security certificates. All web applications that are not secured with a certificate are dinged in search scoring. Therefore, Amazon provides us with a tool for management of those certificates. Firewall Manager All of the services and servers we are building in Amazon's cloud need to be secured by a firewall. This alone can mean some administrative headaches. However, Amazon is nice enough to provide us with this service to make that a non-issue. The Firewall manager tool is easy to use and applies throughout your system. Thus, you have one central location to manage all of those security decisions. Secret Manager, HSM, and Key Management Service These services are not much more than the names imply. They allow you to manage your keys and secrets (authentication credentials) in a single location and link those to the resources you use as they are needed. This is highly important when you consider the dynamic nature of the resources we use in the cloud and tracking authentication across those. Cognito Your experience includes sites where the authentication is done through Google or Facebook. This service provides you with a way to easily allow users to register in your directory and manage them. Note, this is an application level registration and authentication service and not a way for users to be added to your Amazon organization. Inspector When you come to the time of needing to get your site audited for security this service is where you should start. The Inspector service does an assessment based on best practices and security concerns. Then it provides you with a report about your application. Therefore, this service provides you with a list of what is correct and what is not compliant. Use these results to do the best on your upcoming security audit.

If I buy you lunch today, chances are you'll pick up the tab next time. We humans reciprocate a lot… days, weeks or even months later. And other primates do it too. Monkeys that are more generous with food, for example, enjoy more grooming from their peers… and they're more likely to get backup later on in a fight. Now a new study suggests a non-primate, the dwarf mongoose, also makes cooperative, time-delayed barters… trading grooming for guard duty. Here's how it works. "When an individual is on sentinel, they are basically on guard duty for the rest of the group." Julie Kern, a behavioral ecologist University of Bristol. "So they will choose an elevated position like a tree or a termite mound from which to sit and then they watch out to predators that are coming in to target the group. They'll give alarm calls if they spot these, to warn the rest of the group." But throughout the watch, they also remind everyone they're on lookout, with softer surveillance calls . So any mongooses hunting for bugs can keep calm and carry on. What Kern and her colleagues observed in the wild was that mongooses who took those lookout shifts also enjoyed more grooming back at the burrow. Then, to establish cause and effect, they played recordings of certain mongoose individuals making surveillance calls - in effect tricking the mongoose's peers into thinking it was logging lookout time. And indeed, the supposed sentry was rewarded with more grooming later on… suggesting that dwarf mongooses trade favors, even after time has passed. The details are in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. [Julie M. Kern and Andrew N. Radford, Experimental evidence for delayed contingent cooperation among wild dwarf mongooses]Not to say mongoose society is quite as complex as ours. "I think there are obviously ways in which we track contributions which are very different to what's going on here." But at a very basic level - it appears mongoose society also follows the rule, "You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours." --Christopher Intagliata[The above text is a transcript of this podcast.]

A daily devotional through the recorded words Jesus spoke while He walked alongside us. Our website http://alittlewalkwithgod.com. Today's Scripture Focus Mark 13:28-37 devotional summary Whenever I read these words of Jesus, I'm glad I spent time in the Army. It reminds me just how important His words really are. Just as for the guard on the perimeter in a time of war, these words mean life or death for us. Jesus tells us to stay away and keep our eyes open. Be alert for the signs He has given His disciples heralding His coming. Know that He will return to end all our struggles one day and He has given us clues as to when that will happen. We don't know exactly when, but it will happen and we must be ready. My good friend Gery discovered time ended sooner than he wanted just a few weeks ago. A routine medical procedure turned into a nightmare for his family as he fell into the 1% that had adverse outcomes from the procedure. He died that evening after the medical team worked feverishly all day trying everything they knew to do to save him. He didn't expect to see Jesus that day. He expected to retire soon and spend a lot more years with his wife of 44 years, his children, and his grandchildren. But Gery had also been alert and watching for Jesus' coming. He was ready and although alert as his passing drew near, he was at peace knowing he would soon be in the hands of his Lord. See, we never know when the end will come. Jesus may call an end to time for all of us today or He might call one of us home individually. The rest of us will grieve for a time, but we will all be together again if we stay awake and stay alert for His coming. His command is a matter of life and death. Stay awake. No sleeping on guard duty. Today's Bible reading plan: Read it in a year - Proverbs 22 see the whole year's plan here
