Complacency isn't laziness. That's the reframe Marty Hofmann brings to this conversation, and it changes everything about how you look at the drift that's been quietly settling into your life. Marty is an entrepreneur, real estate investor, and host of the Kill Complacency podcast. He grew up on a farm in Iowa, spent years as a youth pastor in Montana, and built a multi-six-figure business shearing alpacas before pivoting to real estate and eventually becoming a writer and speaker on intentional living. His path is unconventional, but his message is clear: comfort is not the enemy of a good life. Drift is. In this conversation, we get into what complacency actually looks like in real life, including in marriage, in business, and in the quiet spaces where you've stopped asking who you want to be. Marty shares the wake-up calls that forced him to get honest with himself, and the framework he uses to reverse engineer the legacy he actually wants to leave. In this episode: Why complacency feels so comfortable until it doesn't, and how to catch the drift before it costs you something you can't get back The one exercise Marty recommends for anyone who feels stuck or off-course How Marty structures intentionality across every area of his life, and why "fun" was the last category he added If you've been sensing that you're going through the motions in any area of your life, this conversation is worth your full attention. Clarity is one of the most powerful wealth tools you have, and almost nobody teaches it that way. In this episode, I break down exactly why clarity is so hard to access, what it's actually costing you when you stay in confusion, and how to start using clarity as the leadership and financial frequency it really is. We tend to think of clarity as a nice-to-have, something that comes after we figure everything out. But clarity is what gets you there. It's what calms your nervous system, sharpens your decisions, aligns your marketing, and lets you lead from a place of real authority instead of constant adjustment. Here's what I cover: The surprising reason high achievers struggle most with clarity, and why it has nothing to do with not knowing what you want What your brain is actually doing when you stay in confusion, and how that pattern is costing you more than you think How clarity functions as a wealth frequency in your business, from pricing to decisions to the clients you attract Clarity isn't just a mindset shift. It's a leadership frequency, a wealth frequency, and a soul frequency. When you claim it, everything moves. There's a version of magic most people are waiting for. The kind that's random, reserved for the lucky, and shows up when the timing is finally right. That's not what I'm talking about. The magic I know, the kind that actually creates results in your life and business, is something you build. And most high-achieving women are already doing half of it. The problem is the other half. In this episode, I break down the receive-create loop and why skipping one side of it is quietly capping everything you're working toward. We produce, execute, and build. But receiving? That's where we close off, and closed systems don't let magic in. Here's what I cover: Why magic isn't random and how the receive-create loop determines whether your efforts compound or drain into burnout How your brain is actively working against what you say you want, and what it really costs to step into your next level Three practical ways to start receiving and creating differently, starting today This is the episode to come back to when you're producing results but still feel like something's missing. There's a version of you that used to create without thinking twice about it. Then life happened, and somewhere along the way, you stopped. In this episode, I sit down with Hannah Sucsy, artist, gallery owner, and community art activist, to talk about what it really costs us when we suppress our creativity and what it looks like to take it back. Hannah's story is not a tidy one. She spent over 15 years in a marriage and a religious community that treated creativity as frivolous. She raised four kids, moved across the country, and quietly shelved the part of herself that made art. It wasn't until a hip reconstruction surgery forced her to slow down that she picked up a pen again, and even then, it started with thank you notes and doodles. A few years later, she opened an art gallery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, population: not many, and built a business around proving that art belongs to everyone. What I love about Hannah's perspective is that she's not precious about art. She serves beer at her gallery openings. She draws on sidewalks in front of her storefront to pull people in. She built a community event called Chalk the Block that brings hundreds of people downtown every July, not because they're artists, but because chalk on a sidewalk is just low-stakes enough to let your guard down. That's the entry point. That's where it starts. What you'll take away from this conversation: Why creativity doesn't disappear in adulthood, it gets suppressed, and the difference matters How Hannah rebuilt her identity and her income from scratch after divorce and two decades at home Why low-stakes creative entry points (like sidewalk chalk) unlock something that a canvas never could What it actually looks like to bet on yourself in a town that's betting against you How art connects across generations, skill levels, and people who swear they're not "art people" This one is for anyone who's been quietly waiting for permission to create again. You're not going to find a better example of what's possible when you stop waiting. Meet Hannah Sucsy Hannah Sucsy (aka Teascarlet) is a self-taught painter wildly pursuing her passion in a way that ignites and empowers others to pursue theirs. She creates with a glorious chaos that invites collectors and fellow creatives to connect with art in a transformative way. In addition to being a full-time artist, gallery owner, and community art activist, she is a single mother of four. After almost 20 years as a wife and stay-at-home mom, she is facing the challenges of being a business owner head-on, while creating a life for herself and her kids that is abundant, joyful, and free. You know what to do. So why aren't you doing it? If you've ever asked yourself that question, this episode is going to name something you've felt but probably couldn't explain. In this episode, I'm breaking down two of the most powerful and least talked about patterns I see in women who are trying to grow: loyalty pacts and double binds. These are the unconscious agreements and internal conflicts quietly running underneath your decisions, your identity, and your results. They're not logical problems. They're neurological ones. And once you see them, you can't unsee them. I share a deeply personal story about my own loyalty pact with my mother and how it quietly shaped my fear of fully stepping into my business. I also walk you through how a double bind can trap you between two things you want at the same time, and why that creates the start-stop pattern so many high-achieving women know too well. In this episode, you'll walk away with: What a loyalty pact actually is, where it comes from, and how to recognize it in your own life Why expansion can feel like betrayal, and why that's neurological, not a personal flaw The difference between self-sabotage and identity protection, and why that reframe changes everything How double binds create invisible ceilings that no amount of discipline can push through Five journal questions to help you identify what's actually holding you in place You're not broken. You're not lacking discipline. There's something deeper asking to be seen, and this episode will help you see it. Helpful Links
In this episode of The Lit Up Life Podcast, I sit down with Sarah Gonnella, founder of BOYBAS (Bring Out Your Badass Self), for a powerful conversation about the limits we inherit and the stories we carry about who we're supposed to be. Sarah shares pieces of her personal journey and how early life experiences shaped the beliefs she once held about herself, and how questioning those beliefs became the beginning of her personal transformation. One of the things I love about Sarah is her deep curiosity. She has always been someone who asks "why," and that willingness to question inherited narratives has helped her uncover a deeper sense of personal truth and self-awareness. Together we talk about how many of the limits we experience in life are not actually ours. They are beliefs we absorbed from family, culture, and past experiences that quietly shape the way we live and lead. In this episode, we talk about: How limiting beliefs often form long before we realize they're shaping our lives The connection between childhood experiences, identity, and self-worth Why curiosity and self-awareness are powerful tools for personal growth How questioning inherited narratives can help you reclaim your power What it really means to bring out your authentic, fearless self If you've ever felt like something unseen is holding you back, this conversation will invite you to pause and ask an important question: Are the limits you're living inside actually yours? Why does manifestation sometimes feel like it suddenly slows down or stop altogether? In this episode of The Lit Up Life Podcast, I talk about something that almost no one discusses when it comes to manifestation: the identity shift that has to happen before your results show up in the physical world. When your vision expands but your identity has not fully integrated yet, it can feel like nothing is working. In reality, your mind, nervous system, and beliefs are catching up to the version of you who can hold that next level. I share why manifestation delays are often a sign of growth and evolution rather than failure, and how your internal alignment directly influences what you create externally. When you understand how belief, embodiment, and expectation interact with Universal Laws, it becomes easier to move through the integration phase without doubting yourself. If you have ever caught yourself thinking, "I'm doing all the things… why isn't it happening yet?" this episode will help you see what is really happening beneath the surface. Why manifestation can feel slow when your identity is evolving How your nervous system and beliefs influence what you attract The difference between chasing results and embodying your next level If this episode resonates with you, share it with a friend who may need this reminder. What if the reason you are working so hard but not seeing results has nothing to do with effort and everything to do with clarity? In this first episode of Season 8, I break down one of my favorite Universal Laws, the Law of Cause and Effect, and how it quietly shapes every outcome in your life and business. Being busy does not create momentum. Clear intention does. We talk about why vague goals dilute results, how resistance and fear block progress without you realizing it, and why action without alignment often leads to burnout instead of breakthrough. The effect you want matters, but only when you are clear enough to choose causes that actually support it. I also share personal examples around manifestation, belief systems, and being open to receiving support in unexpected ways. The Law of Cause and Effect is always working. The question is whether it is working intentionally or by default. In this episode, you'll hear about: Why clarity must come before action if you want real results How resistance shows up when fear is running the decision What it really means to back engineer aligned action without hustling If you are feeling scattered, overwhelmed, or frustrated by a lack of results, this episode will help you slow down, get clear, and move forward with purpose and intention. Athletes who master their strengths and understand what coaches need stand out.- Parents play a role too. Don't chase status—chase fit and long-term development.
Episode Summary:In this episode of It's Just Different, Ashley Roberts sits down with Jake Stevens, Associate Head Coach at Texas Woman's University, to break down why athletes and parents shouldn't overlook D2 basketball. With years of experience at both D1 and D2 levels, Coach Stevens shares insight on the realities of college hoops, recruiting strategy, and how D2 programs often offer a better balance for student-athletes.From understanding the scholarship breakdowns to knowing when a JUCO route makes sense, this conversation gives parents clarity, confidence, and real advice for helping their athlete find the right fit — not just the most hyped one.Key Takeaways:- D2 isn't a downgrade — it's a different lane. Many athletes thrive in D2 environments due to better academic-athletic balance and focused development.- Live period isn't everything. Athletes can still stand out with smart communication, film, and targeted outreach.- Transparency is key. Be honest with coaches about your goals, especially around transferring or chasing D1.- JUCO vs. D2 is a strategic decision. Know when each makes sense based on where your athlete is right now.- Character counts. Coaches value how athletes handle adversity, communicate, and represent themselves.

She brings a parent's perspective on navigating recruiting, switching teams, and making decisions that truly support an athlete's long-term development.Episode Summary:In this episode of It's Just Different, Ashley Roberts sits down with Makenzie and Brittany White to unpack the real story behind Makenzie's journey to a D1 offer. From transferring high schools to changing AAU programs, they break down the emotional and strategic decisions that helped Makenzie grow as both a player and a person. You'll hear candid advice for parents navigating the recruiting process, how to recognize when it's time to move on, and why visibility and opportunity should outweigh program prestige.Key Takeaways:- The Right Fit Over Big Names: Success often comes from being in a system that values you — not just from being on a big-name team.- Parent & Player Alignment: Having a parent who knows when to push and when to pivot makes all the difference.- Real Recruiting Talk: Learn how Makenzie secured her D1 offer and the lessons Brittany shares for parents coming up behind them.- Switching Teams Doesn't Mean Failure: It can mean growth, maturity, and better opportunities — if done with the right mindset.- Balancing Pressure & Passion: The importance of mental health, confidence, and staying grounded throughout the journey.
Let's dive into the deeper layers of childhood healing by looking beyond the conscious mind and into the energetic architecture of our being. While traditional healing often focuses on thought patterns, emotions, and inner child work, there's also an entire dimension of energetic development that holds the blueprint of our early life experiences. From pre-birth to adolescence, our energy body undergoes key developmental stages. When these stages are disrupted by trauma or unmet needs, distorted energetic patterns are laid down. These distortions impact how we experience safety, intuition, and connection, often manifesting as chronic pain, emotional stuckness, or spiritual burnout. Today, I share how true transformation happens when we work with both consciousness and energy. You'll learn how energetic reconstruction can repair those early imprints, help spiritual insights land more fully, and bring more harmony, flow, and intuition into your life. If you're ready to deepen your healing journey through both energetic and spiritual practices, explore The Journey, my 9-month immersive container, at sarahnoble.com/journey. Shifting from self-discipline to self-devotion is a transformation that changes how we live, work, and love. So many of us have been taught that success comes from being hard on ourselves: strict routines, endless to-do lists, always pushing for more. But what if there's another way? What if instead of forcing ourselves through tasks from obligation or guilt, we moved through life in deep devotion? Devotion to our joy, our purpose, our relationships, and our highest truth? This is an invitation to reframe how you show up for yourself and your life, not out of punishment, but as a sacred act of devotion. Topics we explore: The difference between self-discipline and self-devotion How discipline often stems from wounding, conditioning, and survival mode Why devotion creates sustainable joy, purpose, and aligned action Ways to shift your mindset and reframe your habits How your state of being changes your reality I'm here with you on this journey, my love, you are not alone! In today's episode, Jennie talks with Dallas Jenkins about his newest project, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. For Dallas, this film is more than nostalgic entertainment; it's the fulfillment of a calling. After years of praying for the chance to tell this story, he brings the Christmas message to life, sharing the true meaning of "unto you a child is born." Dallas believes that Christ came for everyone, especially the outsider and the overlooked. Dallas also opens up about the challenges of surrendering outcomes to God, especially in a success-driven world. He shares how he's learned to offer his "five loaves and two fish" and leave the rest in God's hands, a lesson that has been central to both The Chosen and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Through storytelling, Dallas hopes to remove barriers that people often face with faith, presenting Jesus in a way that is both authentic and accessible.
