What do glasses, razors, and cat food have in common? Well, they are all products of our esteemed guest today: Jeff Raider. On , “Houston We Have A Problem”. This week we were scheduled to have an edition of Ghost Stories With Sylvia. Sylvia and I recorded just under an hour of good stuff and when I went to edit the audio….. the entire recording sounded just like two robots arguing. So, the bottom line is that I had to come up with a completely different show for this week. We have a special science fiction adventure titled Flight From Tomorrow. To make it even better it is read for us by Audible celebrity and friend to the podcast Mark Nelson. You are going to love it. Featured Story - Flight From Tomorrow Our featured story is absolutely absorbing. It was written by H. Beam Piper who was a science fiction author popular in the 1950s. He specialized in short stories but also wrote several novels. He is best known for his extensive Terro-Human Future History series. Our story comes from the pulp-mag Science Fiction Stories dated September/October of 1950. It is a time travel tale, but not like anything you have ever heard before. There was no stopping General Zarvas' rebellion. Hradzka, leader of the known world, is hunted and hated in two worlds. He had dreamed of a monomaniac's glory but was stranded in the past with his knowledge of the future. However, he didn't know the past quite well enough. We saw US equities rise on Wednesday, closing out the best month since November, as investors rotated back into tech while weighed down on Biden's big infrastructure spending plan. Over the sea, European markets closed lower as Deliveroo tumbled on its debut, falling as much as 30% and euro zone inflation jumped to 1.3% in March from 0.9% in February. What to watch today:The Aussie market looks set to start the month of April on a positive note, up 0.28%, ahead of the four-day Easter break.Australia's import and export data are out today, as well as retail and home loan data. Both data points are out at 11:30am.Keep an eye on Aussie tech shares such as Xero (ASX:XRO) and Zip (ASX:Z1P) following US tech stocks surging higher overnight. The Oil price fell 0.8% to US$63.66 per barrel off the back of concerns about the market's recovery after OPEC and its allies lowered their 2021 demand growth forecast by 300,000 barrels per day. The Gold price lifted about 1.3%, helped by the dollar's pushback, but elevated US bond yields still puts the metal on course for its worst quarter in 4 years. As for the most traded stocks yesterday from our active trader desk, Bell Direct Advantage they were: 88 Energy (ASX:88E), Houston We Have (ASX:HWH) and Oneview Healthcare (ASX:ONE).Trading ideas:Bell Potter has upgraded its rating on Mayne Pharma (ASX:MYX) from a Hold to a Buy, and has increased its price target by 70% to $0.56 (previously $0.33). Pointerra (ASX:3DP), Healthia (ASX:HLA) & Galaxy Resources (ASX:GXY) are all giving off bullish charting signals according to Trading Central.

The “band” is back together to review some breaking news on the launch date for NASA’s upcoming Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover. We talk about the activities on the International Space Station, where NASA Astronauts Chris Cassidy performed a 6-hour 7-minute spacewalk to replace a set of lithium-ion batteries on the facility’s S6 truss. Completing this work will leave the ISS in an exemplary power configuration for the remainder of its operational life. Attention turns to a Pre-spacewalk briefing NASA’s Kenny Todd, and Steve Stich had good words on how well the SpaceX Crew Dragon is performing for its first-time on-orbit and information on when perhaps the Crew-1 mission could fly. Also included was a status on where Boeing was with remediation work on the CST-100 Starliner spacecraft. There was an abrupt “changing of the guard” at NASA’s Human Exploration and Operations office. Kathy Lueders, the Director of the Commercial Crew Program, was promoted to Associate Administrator for the Human Operations and Exploration Directorate replacing Douglas Loverro. He resigned under a ‘dark cloud’ for what he called ‘a mistake’ in his final letter to the HEO organization. That “mistake” is now under the microscope of the NASA Inspector General’s office. The NASA Headquarters Building in Washington DC has a new name; we tell you who it is and why that honor was bestowed, plus give you a little hint about another historical figure of note we’re going to discuss on a future show. Alexandria Perryman is the lead audio engineer at NASA. Her role as the lead audio engineer includes mixing the sound of the rockets and commentators for the live broadcasts of rocket launches, working closely with the producers, directors, and astronauts to ensure smooth launch. Upon college graduation, Alexandria wanted to work with music and in the studio. She got an internship at the studio she wanted to work at and quickly found out that she didn’t like it. Being a Texas native, she found her way into NASA. In this episode Alexandria talks about what it’s like mixing the sound for a rocket launch, including how they record such a loud noise, making sure that the rocket launch doesn’t overpower the commentator’s statements, and even her hardships six-months prior to graduation. Alexandria is proof that you can do anything you put your mind to. -- Links to products/websites mentioned: NASA: https://www.nasa.gov SpaceX: https://www.spacex.com Full Sail University: https://www.fullsail.edu Johnson Space Center: https://www.nasa.gov/centers/johnson/home/index.html Oprah Winfrey: http://www.oprah.com Shonda Rhimes: https://www.biography.com/media-figure/shonda-rhimes -- Quick links: :35 - About Alexandria Perryman 3:17 - What does a lead audio engineer do at NASA? 4:46 - Rocket launches getting postponed or cancelled and dealing with those cancellations 5:15 - What is like to mix the sound for a rocket ship? 6:28 - How is mixing audio for rockets different than mixing for music? 9:17 - How did you teach yourself to work and not watch the launch? 10:40 - What’s going through your mind 10 seconds before the launch? 13:23 - How do you handle the times when you come in to mix a launch and then you find out it’s cancelled? 16:13 - How long have you been at NASA? Your Hosts: Brandon, Mary, Dan, and Howard, with special space-guest Kjell Lindgren Kjell Lindgren, flight surgeon, Expedition 44/45, joined us for an episode that perhaps should have been called "we ask the space-man all of the things." We asked him stuff that we wanted to know more about, and came away richer for the experience. If there's just one technical term worth bringing home from this episode, it's "expeditionary behavior." It's the sort of thing that can make us all richer for the experience. Credits: This episode was recorded by Benjamin Hewett at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, and mastered by Alex Jackson at Writing Excuses Mission Control in Chicago. BONUS: NASA invited us back to be on THEIR show, Houston We Have a Podcast, and that episode went live about three days before this did. More Kjell Lindgren!

Another week, another point? Is that enough to propel NYCFC into the MLS playoffs? Apparently. In episode 76 of the Dudes in Blue NYCFC Podcast, we try and breakdown the breakdown of NYCFC against Houston in Connecticut. There were a lot of geographical mentions in that sentence. We start with the lineup which appeared to be a 4-5-1 with an overloaded midfield. The chances we created weren’t enough to seal the deal and the straw that broke the camel’s back was a potential missed PK by referee Allen Chapman. So naturally, we rant and rave about the use (or in The post Episode 76 – Houston We Have a Problem appeared first on Dudes In Blue.
