For collision shop owners who spend years getting too involved in running their business, there often comes a time when they find themselves having no idea which direction to take moving forward. And they realize they don't have a clear vision of what they want their business to become in the future. It doesn't matter which industry we're in, all businesses have common goals. One of these goals is to be able to sustain the family and make enough money to support a great life. And the way to get there is pretty straightforward. We just need to understand the path and create a plan around it. Join Matt DiFrancesco and Mitch Russo, Business Growth Strategist, best-selling author, and two-time nominee for Inc. Magazine's Entrepreneur of the Year, as they talk about how Mitch uses his experience and insights to guide clients where they want to go, and why identifying yourself as who you are and not by what you do, matters. Mitch talks about: How to help clients clarify their vision for their business and lives The importance of finding your true core passion Why business owners need to create multiple recurring paths to profitability Why intellectual property can sometimes be more valuable than the business itself How identifying yourself by what you do can be a false identification Why most people struggle with identifying WHO we are Why he believes that humans are designed as problem-solving machines The value of knowing in advance that we all must have goals What the book, “Power Tribes” is all about Why he prefers not to work with beginners Connect with Mitch Russo Website: mitchrusso.com and mitchrusso360.com Connect With Matt DiFrancesco: matt@highliftfin.com (814)201-5855 LinkedIn: Matt DiFrancesco LinkedIn: High Lift Financial Facebook: High Lift Financial About Our Guest: When Mitch Russo decided to release the software product he and his partner painstakingly built for 9 months, they realized that the market had changed and the fruit of their labor no longer had value. Yet, they used the base of the technology they created and pivoted into a much larger market. What looked like a disaster at first, turned out as a blessing and led to enormous success. This is why when they sold the company, he ended up selling it for eight figures. After that, he went on to work with Tony Robbins, and Chet Holmes, who are big guns in the personal development industry. More than 30 years later, he is now considered as one of the heavy hitters in the industry as well. As a business growth strategist, Mitch has helped everyone, from NFL stars to CEOs, pretty much anybody who wants to rapidly accelerate the growth of their business. Today, Mitch is a speaker, consultant, serial entrepreneur, podcast host, and investor. He's been nominated twice by Inc Magazine as Entrepreneur of the Year. He is also the best-selling author of two books, The Invisible Organization and Power Tribes: How Certification Can Explode Your Business.

He has also been featured in Forbes, Inc., Entrepreneur, and more. In this episode… Developments in technology have provided great opportunities for entrepreneurs, especially for those in the SaaS development space. However, failure to embrace new technology or a delay in acting quickly enough can mean that entrepreneurs have to deal with obsolete software.  This is the situation Mitch Russo found himself in when a sudden change in technology made his software outdated overnight. He, however, decided to immediately switch gears and create a software for lawyers. The result? A $10 million company. Mitch Russo, the CEO of MindfulGuidance, is Rich Goldstein's guest in this episode of the Innovations and Breakthroughs Podcast, where he talks about his early entry into software development and the lessons he learned about the SaaS model. Mitch also talks about his ClientFol.io software platform and explains how pivoting helped him build a seven-figure business. Stay tuned.

In 2021, Mitch launched Clientfolio, which is a SaaS platform for coaches to increase productivity and decrease administration time.    In this episode, Jordan and Mitch Russo discuss: Mitch's experience working as CEO for Tony Robbins How Mitch's SaaS platform, “Clientfolio” cuts admin from 30 minutes to 5 for each coaching client.   What an executive coach can do to increase their value to their client Key Takeaways Don't coach in an area in which you don't have experience. It's not ethical.  To build your company, get testimonials from people who respect you for how they've gained or transformed from your coaching.  Coaching is mostly not about telling people what to do, it's sharing your experience and what strategies worked and what can work for them too.  Failure is not the opposite of success, giving up is. You can't fail as long as you're pushing through all setbacks and hindrances.    “You don't have to be the best in the world to be a coach, you just have to be experienced in what your client needs.” —  Mitch Russo Get Mitch Russo's free ebook on how to get publicity at,  https://profitstackingsecrets.com/   Get Mitch Russo's blueprint for creating a certification program at www.powertribesbook.com     Get the complimentary guide: How To Select An Executive Coach at www.selectcoach.workplacewarrior.com    Get the Am I Abrasive Self Test at abrasive.workplacewarrior.com  Connect with Mitch Russo:   Website: https://mitchrusso.com/ | https://clientfol.io/client/  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mitchrusso/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/mitchrusso   Connect with Jordan:  Get the complimentary guide: How To Select An Executive Coach at www.selectcoach.workplacewarrior.com  Get the Am I Abrasive Self Test at abrasive.workplacewarrior.com    Website: www.workplacewarriorinc.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/jordangoldrich1 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jordan.goldrich Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jordangoldrich/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jgoldrich/

Success doesn't happen overnight. The journey to success is a long process of working through each step of failure, motivation, and inspiration. It is through this process that you grow and strengthen your beliefs and become more confident in every decision that you make. In this episode, the one and only Mitch Russo joins us to talk about what it means to be an entrepreneur, how building a real company is like, and how business owners can achieve their business goals. Make sure that you tune in to this podcast to learn the greatest business wisdom from Mitch firsthand! About Our Guest:  Mitch Russo co-founded Timeslips Corporation, the largest time-tracking software company in the world. When Timeslips Corp. was sold to Sage, he served as its Chief Operating Officer. He was also a pioneer, and later the President and CEO, of the virtual organization Business Breakthroughs International, together with Chet Holmes and Tony Robbins.  Mitch is the author of the bestselling books, “The Invisible Organization,” and “Power Tribes – How Certification Can Explode Your Business.” In 2017, he launched the SaaS platform, The Results Breakthrough Network. Today, Mitch hosts the Your First Thousand Clients Podcast, where he discovers the secrets of successful business owners.  For more insights, you can reach Mitch and set up a call with him for free on his website.  Resources The Success System That Never Fails by William Clement Stone You Too Can Be Prosperous by Robert Russell Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand Becoming an Entrepreneur and Finding Success Mitch's Story He was a lead guitar player in a rock band in high school, where his initial motive was to meet girls. He volunteered to book their band for their gigs. Shortly, they started making over $500 a night—that was in 1970. This experience taught him how it's like to be an entrepreneur. When his parents divorced during his teens, they struggled with their finances. He and his sister decided that they will not remain poor. He studied electrical engineering and worked with pioneers in the computer industry. There, he didn't just learn how to build and design circuits; Mitch also learned how the industry leaders thought. He realized that the rest of the engineering jobs is more related to paperwork. He then started investing in real estate and building small portfolios of properties. Having a Sharp Eye for Opportunity to Reach Success You can be anything you want to be as long as you are willing to work. When you see an opportunity, you have to go for it confidently. There were a lot of starting software companies when Mitch started his, but he and his partner believed in what they're doing. "Comfort is the enemy of success." Overcoming the Greatest Challenges in Business When he started Timeslips Corporation, they priced the program at $99—which almost took its credibility away because it was so cheap. The American Business Association tried to discredit their product because it was not ABA certified. Together with his clients, they fought ABA and spread the word about Timeslips. 18 months later, the ABA convention invited Mitch as a keynote speaker. The Biggest Motivation to Success The three words that he had in his mind after a rejection from wanting to transition into sales became his motivation: "I'll show you." Entrepreneurs have to be careful of self-talk because it can either bring you up or down. Your belief and your determination to be successful is what will serve you towards it. Money is a measuring stick. Without the desire to pursue it, you're not going to want it. Advice for Struggling Entrepreneurs If you have a struggling business, there is no excuse, what you need to do is to sell. If you're in a slump, the best thing to do is to get testimonials from happy clients. A video or audio has more credibility than printed words. If you're starting, keep in mind that you have the gift of the beginner's mindset. The Wealth Mindset Wealth does not come to people unless they're in that mindset. You have to overcome the limitations of your unconscious mind. Your mentors don't have to be live people—they could be programs or authors. Don't be afraid to introduce yourself to people. Consequently, you have to make yourself valuable to that person. The Greatest Mistakes Entrepreneurs Make Starting unprepared Demanding before proving their concept Not knowing the market You have to learn how to sell yourself and what you're doing. If you have 45 seconds to tell people what you do, you only need to write down seven words to convey your message. The first three words should be “You know how…,” and the next four words are, “What we do is…” Failures and Turning Points When he was working as a field applications engineer for a software chip vendor, his boss was upset when he found out that Mitch was Jewish. While contemplating whether he should quit, he went to a mentor in the industry who advised him not to let them take his job away from him. “It comes back to having a mentor. It comes back to that fork in the road that changes your life and making the right decision as hard as it might be.” Instrumental Habits to Success Learning from others and the way they solve problems. You can't be an expert at everything. Get to know as many successful people as possible and connect with them.  Final Notes Mitch is building a program to train coaches on how to get rich, which is called the Coaching Systems Architect.  The report in the program contains the Five Critical Areas Most Coaching Businesses Make.   P.S. Do you already have a successful business, meaning you're up, running, and paying your bills with some profit left over? Click To Tweet Show  Notes: Here's a fun question for you…If you could go back in time with whom would you like to spend a day with? Steve Jobs. That's my favourite person in the world. Elon Musk is one too but Steve Jobs, I think he did the impossible, I think he did it as a person who came into this world with both gifts and deficits. He overcame them and found a way to build something amazing. What stops most entrepreneurs from breaking through and being successful? Entrepreneurs who break through appears to be overnight successes. I think most people don't realize how hard it is to find something of value, find a way to present it to others and also find a way to begin selling it successfully. Entrepreneurship is a journey and it's never a single action or a single thing. It's a process, a journey and it requires many different discipline. That's why I love entrepreneurship so much. I believe it is one of the most creative ways to challenge yourself, to build wealth and to build community. What is success for you? It is different for different people. It can money, like what a lot of persons think of. But success can also be satisfaction, the joy of doing the work you love. What do you say to those who are fearful of succeeding, fearful of criticism/ fearful of attention? Criticism is strongest from inside. Most of what people are listening to is that voice that's inside. For many people that voice tells them that they are not smart enough, that they are not good enough. It's the ability to fight that back, the ability to recognize that is part of human nature protection system and overcome it and understanding that it is not protecting us at all. It is the same mechanism designed to keep us safe in the jungle. It is not the mechanism today that is valuable. The best thing to do is to try and overcome those feelings and if everybody else has comments like that, like you, you simply disregard them because they are simply not valid. Was there ever a point you had to face your own demon of fear? Yes. It comes up to this day. Facing one's demo is a big category. To me what demons are is those tiny little voices that say, "oh no you can't do that", or 'you're not good enough or there are smarter people in the world that you, why do you think you can go off do that that. Those are the demons that haunt too many of us. In an entrepreneurial life when you're mostly alone or working with a small team, that's when the demons get to speak the loudest. I think it is our job as entrepreneurs to overcome those feelings and those voices and instead focus only on outcomes. What was starting, running and then selling your successful company like? I think, like many good ideas, that materialize in this world, that idea did not start as the idea that materialize. It started as a different idea. It (the software company) started as an idea to keep track of time so I could deduct my computer from my taxes. Back then, computers were thought of as toys by the IRS. My partner and I agreed that this was good idea and we built an entire to keep track of time to make sure we could deduct them from our taxes. Just about the time we quit our jobs and ready to launch, the IRS relaxed their ruling on that very thing. Without any notice,

Today we are joined by my friend and returning guest, Mitch Russo..   Mitch started his public life as the lead guitarist of a rock band called Absolutely Free. Since then, Mitch has been quite productive.    First he built a real estate portfolio in Massachusetts and used the working capital for his next venture.    In 1985, Mitch co-founded Timeslips Corp, which grew to become the largest time tracking Software Company in the world. In 1994, Timeslips Corp was sold to Sage, plc. While at Sage, Mitch went on to run all of Sage U.S. as Chief Operating Officer, a division with 300 people with a market cap in excess of $100M.    Mitch was nominated Inc. Magazine's “Entrepreneur of the Year” in 1989 and 1991 and Won “Best Entrepreneur” in 1989, by The National Association of Legal Vendors.    Mitch joined long time friend Chet Holmes as President, later to join forces with Tony Robbins and together created Business Breakthroughs, Int'l, a company serving thousands of businesses a year with coaching, consulting and training services.   Mitch was the President and CEO of Business Breakthroughs..   After the early and unfortunate death of Chet, Mitch left Business Breakthroughs to help others build their business as a consultant specializing in building certified consulting and coaching organizations, working with call centers with large volume lead flow… helping coaching organizations scale.    In 2015, Mitch published “The Invisible Organization” the CEO's guide to building fully virtual organizations.    Now Mitch is building certification & licensing programs companies use to generate insane profits while exploding their sales.    An avid travel and landscape photographer, Mitch's work won 1st prize with The Sierra Club in 1994 and more recently was published in JETGALA Magazine with a 2-page spread. Mitch is always checking for a full moon in Iceland and has been known to disappear in a moment's notice.   Enjoy!!!   ---   Mission Statement My mission is to create 200 new multi-millionaire business owners who solve world problems with entrepreneurship. How? You'll do better when you know better.   Would it help you to have a mentor who can cut your learning curve by sharing their mistakes with you so you could avoid them?   Would it help you to talk to that mentor and learn how they shifted their mindset to allow success to happen in the first place?   Would it help you to hear them talk to other high-level entrepreneurs about their journeys, their mistakes and how they overcame their challenges to create the lives and financial success they desire?   The Best Business Podcast was created for you to have all this in one place.   If you like it, please subscribe, give an honest review and share with a friend you think will benefit so I may serve you both together.   "Your success is my success." -- Daryl Urbanski

Display TranscriptRobert Plank: Mitch Russo has worked with Chet Holmes. He worked with Tony Robbins. He has a new book called The Invisible Organization. Mitch, welcome to the show today. Mitch Russo: Thank you, Robert. Great to be here. Robert Plank: I'm glad to have you. Could you tell us about yourself and what it is that you do? Mitch Russo: Sure. I'll give you a little bit of background first so you know who I am. I was born in Brooklyn, New York. I had a rock band up until the age of 17, and I probably learned more about business in my rock band than any other single thing as a kid. We booked gigs all over New York City. We probably were the highest paid bands under 18 years old in the entire state for a little while. Back in 1977, we were getting $500 a gig, which, in today's dollars, is actually ridiculous. Robert Plank: Especially for an 18-year-old, yeah. Mitch Russo: Exactly. We were so young, we weren't even able to drive our own van. We had to hire somebody to help us get to a gig because we were too young to drive, but I learned so much about marketing, about sales, about positioning, even about quality. It was really an incredible experience. Then I went on to... I moved to Massachusetts to take a job with a computer company, and I ended up in sales. I did a lot of cool stuff when I got to Massachusetts, but probably one of the most memorable things I did was I started a software company. I started it. Literally, as they say, it was a garage operation. I started it, literally, above my garage in the one room that nobody knew what to do with in my house. My neighbor and I got together and we built a company out of an idea that I had, and that grew to 100 people, and we had moved the company 5 times over the course of the 9 years, until we eventually sold it for 8 figures to Sage Plc in the UK. Man, what an incredible experience that was. Again, there's no better way to learn than to make all of the mistakes that we made and have to fix them or die. It's correct your mistakes or die, so you've just got to step up and make it happen. There were nights that we would be looking at the payroll and thinking... My partner and I would look at each other and go, "You know, we don't have enough money in the account to cover payroll." The two of us go into our wallet, and we started making the rounds at cash machines and taking money off of our credit cards to make payroll. I mean, it was that bad at one point, but later, everything went right and we were able to finally make things happen. You know the story of The Hero's Journey, Robert? Robert Plank: Joseph Campbell. Mitch Russo: Exactly. There were so many points in time when we were on the brink of failure, and we didn't quite know what to do, and then we just persevered. We just kept going, and then boom. It just happened, and it worked. That was a great experience, and I finished up with that. After I sold the company, I then went and worked for the people who bought us, Sage, and I ended up running the entire U.S. division for Sage, and I was actually completely done, at the age of 44, with millions of dollars in my pocket and theoretically able to retire if I wanted to, but I couldn't. I absolutely would be bored out of my mind, so I started investing in other people's startups. I started working with the venture capital community, and I started building a portfolio of companies that I invested in and friends that I made throughout the entire process. That went on until I got a call from a buddy of mine, Chet Holmes. Now, Chet and I had been friends since my Timeslips days, and he said to me, "Mitch, I need some help.
