Escuchar audio

I have not had the opportunity to download any special downloads yet, for now I'm just happy to be part of this wonderful community you are building. I hope you will indulge me while I share my history of your podcast with you. I have always been drawn to Celtic music for whatever reason and have always enjoyed finding new Celtic artists. In the early 2000s while at university I discovered a Celtic music show on our local public radio and quickly became a regular listener. I listened for many years and it became part of my Sunday morning tradition. Shortly after meeting a very special man (who eventually became my husband) in 2013 the radio station changed the time slot of the Celtic music show and it was no longer convenient to listen to. My husband, knowing how much this music meant to me, started to look for other ways to continue this Sunday morning tradition and several years ago he discovered your podcast, and we've been listening ever since. I really appreciate the variety of music you play and it has been nice to hear some artists I was familiar with before finding your show; like Heather Dale, Elixir and the Gothard Sisters...and I've so enjoyed learning about so many new artists. After about a six week break from listening I started to listen again and find myself again grateful for your hard work to make this show happen. My husband died unexpectedly at the end of May and listening to your show again while making Sunday breakfast brings back many fond memories of my Sunday mornings with the most remarkable man I've ever known. Thank you for helping me continue this wonderful tradition, although now tinged with some sadness, it is also full of wonderful memories. I've been meaning to subscribe to the podcast for some time and finally did so today. I would like to make my support for the show in honor of my wonderful husband and partner, Paul Vigansky. Thank you so much for all you do. With warmest gratitude, Ginnie L. Vigansky”

David Strei emailed photos: "Marc, Been listening to your podcast since it started. Some of my favorite artists include the Gothard Sisters, Celtic Squall, the Rogues, and a lot of your music. Today I’m carving spoons while listening to your podcast. Attached is a picture of a spoon in progress and several that are complete." Senachie Cummings emailed a photo: "Hi Marc, I am a patron and have been a devoted fan for many years.  Currently, I mostly listen to your podcast while I am doing cooking projects.  I usually prepare some food items to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, but did not this year  due to the novel coronavirus, so here is a photo of the dessert that I served for St. Patrick’s Day in 2019.  It is supposed to look like pints of Guinness but is actually Guinness Chocolate Cake with Baileys Cream Cheese Frosting.  I baked the cake directly in the pint glasses.  Thanks again for all your efforts.  Keep up the great work and stay safe!"

¡Feliz 2020! ¡Muchas gracias! Zona de los archivos adjuntos

Born in Rowena Texas in 1910. Her father died in 1914, when Bonnie was four.  Her mother moved them to Cement City, an impoverished industrial city. Met Roy Thorton in her second year of high school and married him. She dropped out of school as well. She got a tattoo of their names on her right thigh to celebrate. He was abusive and frequently absent. He was also in and out of prison. Bonny left him and went to work as a waitress in Dallas. She met Clyde when he dropped by the house as she was making hot chocolate. It was love at first sight. They started robbing banks and Bonnie got caught by the police in 1932. She spent two month in prison where she wrote poetry, including The Trail’s End. "Some day they'll go down together / And they'll bury them side by side / To few it'll be grief / to the law a relief / but it's death for Bonnie and Clyde.” She wasn’t convicted because she claimed she was kidnapped.   After this, they began travelling with Raymond Hamilton. He left several months later and was replaced by William Daniel Jones. Clyde’s brother, Ivan M. “Buck” Barrow, and his wife Blanche joined them in 1933. In June 1933 she was in a car accident and her leg was burned by battery acid. She had to carried for the rest of her life. The group robbed banks across five state- TX, OK, MI, NM and LA. They robbed 15 banks in total. Bonny was rarely involved in the actual robberies and usually drove the get a away car. When it was only the two of them they could rob convenience stores. The public was torn on them, some liked them and saw them as Robin Hood and other’s hated them. The pair would often take photos and release them to the media. In July 1933, during a sting operation with the police Buck Barrow was shot and died. Blanche was arrested.  Jones was arrested in November 1933. In November 1933 the duo broke Hamilton out of prisoner, killing two guards in the process. They died on May 23rd, 1934. The police hired Captain Frank Hamer as a special investigator to find them. He searched for three months before tracing them to LA. On the 23rd law enforcement hid in bushes outside the hideout. The pair emerges and the cops open fire, killing them instantly.

Stand Up To Cancer has announced a $10 million award to a Stand Up To Cancer Dream Team focused on revolutionizing the treatment of multiple myeloma, an incurable blood cancer of plasma cells, through early detection of precursor conditions before they turn into full-blown disease.  The team will be led by Irene Ghobrial, MD at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) in Boston and Ivan M. Borrello, MD, of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  The hypothesis of this proposal is that early detection of MGUS/SMM in a high-risk population, along with a good understanding of the molecular and immune factors that lead to disease progression, will lead to effective strategies that intercept disease progression and improve survival. The Dream Team proposes to conduct a screening study of individuals over the age of 45, who are at a high risk for having MGUS or SMM, such as African-Americans and individuals who have a first-degree relative that has been diagnosed with a plasma cell disorder. This study will be called the PROMISE study. We will focus on these populations because they are two to three-fold more likely than others to have these precursor conditions. The Team expects to screen 50,000 individuals to obtain 3,000 MGUS/smoldering myeloma cases to intensively study and follow over time. The Dream Team will study this group in an effort to define biological characteristics that will help to identify which patients will benefit from particular therapies. These biological characteristics include inherited mutations, acquired mutations, and immune factors. The Dream Team will also identify lifestyle and demographic factors that contribute to disease progression, such as obesity and race. The Dream Team will use this information to develop new therapeutics that that can be used to prevent myeloma from progressing.
