This ties into a broader discussion on well-rounded TV arcs, as he also covers "Hacks" Season 3 and the ever-evolving "Dexter: Original Sin," noting its mixed critical reception. The conversation then veers towards other compelling series like "Unforgotten" and "Patience," both lauded for their nuanced storytelling. On a cinematic note, Gray reminisces his recent film escapades, including Cameron Diaz's return in "Back in Action" alongside Jamie Foxx, and a casual yet amusing trip to see "Bridget Jones." Matt, Dawn and Sarah are back to review three shows we've always championed. Firstly, Sanjeev Bhaskar packs his backpack for series 6 of the jewel in ITV's crown Unforgotten. He returns along with new colleague Jessie (Sinéad Keenan) to investigate another cold case when body parts are found in a river. The series introduces us to four disconnected families or stories but how do they connect to the body? Next, it's been a long wait for the third season of the hit US comedy Hacks. The series, which originally aired on Prime Video is now available on Sky and NOW and they've bought the first two seasons and the third season which means our wait is over. The incredible comedy with two equally powerful performances from Jean Smart and Hannah Einbeinder delivers possibly its strongest season yet. Next, Jack Rooke's semi-autobiographical comedy Big Boys is back for its third and final series, and on Netflix, there's a new true-crime drama Apple Cider Vinegar about an infamous Australian cancer scammer.
We have a trio of brilliant British shows for you this week as Chris Lang's Unforgotten reunites Sunny with his famous backpack for its sixth series on ITV (52:22), Jack Rooke's Big Boys gets a last hurrah as its third and final series hits Channel 4 (59:40), and Lucy Punch starring Motherland spinoff Amandaland makes its debut on BBC1 (1:07:26). Plus we take a deep dive look at this week's Next On Netflix presentation and Ben Travis gets called at home to answer for his ridiculous question. (Episode 322)Note: time stamps are approximate as the ads throw them out, so are only meant as a guide. In this episode of Changes Focus we're zooming in on a big change that we will probably all experience at some point - grief. Grief shapes us in different ways and hearing other people's experiences of how they have coped with their loss can help in moving through our own. In this tender and insightful episode, Annie revisits conversations with Cariad Lloyd, comedian and creator of the podcast 'Griefcast', who shares her reflections on how therapy helped her with the grieving process after losing her dad aged 15. Food critic and podcaster Grace Dent talks about her experience of losing her parents, returning home to care for her mum in the final period before she died and how this shaped her feelings of grief. Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Yebba (real name Abigail Smith) opens up about the heartbreaking death of her mother and how it influenced her music. And comedian and writer of the BAFTA winning ‘Big Boys, Jack Rooke, discusses his experience of losing his dad as a teenager and how he has channelled his grief into creativity and comedy.Trigger Warning: This episode contains mention of suicide. You can find all the featured episodes in full wherever you get your podcasts. Jack Rooke is the recent BAFTA winning comic genius behind the incredible multi award winning sitcom Big Boys. Jack won his BAFTA for Best Comedy Writer after using his own life experience of losing his Dad, when Jack was 15, to write and narrate Big Boys. The show follows Jack leaving his mum to go to University where he navigates making new friends and exploring being gay, something he hasn't told his mum yet. Big Boys was adapted from Jack's debut show Good Grief and his second show Happy Hour which was commissioned by Soho Theatre. Both received critical acclaim at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He's also had a documentary on BBC 3 called Happy Man exploring alternatives to the male mental health crisis and published a memoir called Cheer the F**k Up. His work is both hilarious and sad with smart, spit your drink out laughing moments. This conversation is no exception. Now 30, Jack talks about success in your 20s, what losing a parent so young does to someone, how his grief has changed, why humour is so important to him and, in his opinion, in all life situations, Big Boys being seen as radical and new tattoos. All Of Us Strangers may finally be in cinemas - and Ali's Story So Far interview with one of its stars, Paul Mescal, may be on be on BBC iPlayer right about now - but here on Radio 1's Screen Time we're shining a light on Big Boys, Jack Rooke's semi-autobiographical sitcom, which has recently returned to Channel 4 to rave reviews. Here, Jack sits down with Ali for this interview special, featuring a surprise appearance from a Radio 1 DJ to boot, which touches on British comedy as a whole and just how tricky it is to get a show like Big Boys off the ground.

I spoke to Adelaide Waldrop a certified Intimacy Director with Intimacy for Stage and Screen (ISS), where she trained with Lizzy Talbot and Yarit Dor (she began training in this work in 2017 with various practitioners in the UK and US). She also serves as the Secretary of the Intimacy Coordinators's Branch of BECTU and teaches Intimacy for Performance at LAMDA. Speaking of which, Adelaide graduated from LAMDA's MA in Directing programme in 2017. She has directed productions in the UK and America and is the co-founder and co-Artistic Director of devised theatre company Maude. Her credits as an intimacy co-ordinator include the upcoming Netflix erotic thriller DAMAGE and upcoming ITV queer period drama THE CONFESSIONS OF FRANNIE LANGTON. Past credits include Jack Rooke's TV series BIG BOYS, Charlotte Wells' directorial debut AFTERSUN, BBC drama THEN BARBARA MET ALAN written by Jack Thorne and Genevieve Barr. She is currently working on the HBO/Channel 4 series GET MILLIE BLACK by Marlon James. We talk about drama school, how directing a production of Spring Awakening at 19 provided a first taste of co-ordinating intimacy, how establishing the necessity of having an intimacy co-ordinator on certain sets was at times difficult, choreographing non-sexual intimacy such as the father-daughter relationship between Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio in upcoming MUBI release and Cannes darling AFTERSUN, the kind of persona Adelaide embodies in order to do her job well, how she holds space for actors to admit discomfort and pushing the industry forward to be more representative and inclusive in its depictions of sex. The fact that there are still actors who denounce the need for safe-guarding and choreography when it comes to sex scenes or any scene of an intimate nature, I think underscores the need for these kinds of conversations and I am beyond thankful to Adelaide for having this one with me.
In the final episode of the first series of One Dish, comedian and writer Jack Rooke brings a lovely little ramekin of one of his favourite foods: stuffing. Intended to keep meat moist, and to eke out expensive cuts so they go further, they're now an indispensable component of a special occasion meal for many people - including Jack. He shares some of his favourite stuffing memories, and admits that when it comes to the preparation he's very much a sous chef and it's his mum who's in charge in the kitchen. Andi and Jack learn about the long and varied history of stuffing in Britain; it's had many guises over the years, from pudding to forcemeat to the ‘just add water' type out of a box. They find out how the popularity of sage and onion is connected to commercial chicken farming, and Jack persuades Andi to cook one of the more outlandish historical stuffing recipes she's discovered (although not quite as outlandish as stuffed porpoise). And Kimberley Wilson has some fascinating intel on the delicate art of cooking different cuts of meat and the scientific reason why it sometimes goes dry and tough. This week my guest is Kat Buckle, an agent at Curtis Brown in their Film & TV department where she represents a range of talent such as director Stella Corradi, writer and actor Emma Sidi, presenter, podcast & writer Tolani Shoneye, comedian & writer Jack Rooke and many, many more. We talk about her route into the world of talent agenting, how she built her own roster and what she looks for in potential clients, how she manages client expectations and sets boundaries, how she deals with both the competitive nature of the business as well as when clients might want to move on and her proudest moments as an agent. It was a real treat to chat with Kat, she was really open and generous and I think gave lots of valuable insights into what it means to be an agent, as well as perhaps what to expect if and when you are looking for representation, so I’m very grateful for her time.

Think cocktails with Tom Allen, adventures into space with Mae Martin, and a film night with Brett Goldstein – plus LOADS more. Join the girls for fun, games, legends and dicks.Beattie: “Really looking forward to being bullied on a weekly basis by these two ar*eholes.”Camille: “I'm stupidly excited that our podcast is returning because it means Beattie and Rose have to talk to me on a regular basis.”Rose: “I can’t wait to get recording again and have even more of my embarrassing secrets revealed to the world by my two best friends.”Enquiries: hello@keepitlightmedia.com

Grief, loss, fitting in, and cheering the fuck up. Join Jack Rooke and me as we discuss the wonders of the fringe and how to cope with it…and with life! The post Shedcast – Jack Rooke appeared first on Putting it Together.
This weeks episode is with the INCREDIBLE writer, comedian and newly published FIRST TIME AUTHOR of 'Cheer The F**k Up'...Jack ROOKE. Grief has been a recurring and relentless theme in Jack's life, having lost his father to cancer at the tender age of 15, and then a best friend to suicide at the age of 21. Both these tragic deaths had a huge impact on Jack's direction in life and career trajectory, co-writing a show about his fathers death with his 85 year old nan, Good Grief, and then, Happy Hour, a comedic tribute to his friend lost to suicide. Both shows received high acclaim at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, after which he went on to present his own BBC Three documentary series, Happy Man, the BBC Radio 4 comedy, Good Grief, and was also BBC Radio 1’s on-air expert in bereavement and mental health for The Surgery. Jack’s shows were such a success they transferred on to London’s Soho Theatre, Latitude Festival and The Roundhouse., and then in 2019 he was asked to contribute an essay to the award-winning book 'It’s Not OK to Feel Blue (& Other Lies)', curated by Scarlett Curtis. Finally, and very excitingly, his debut publication, Cheer the F**K Up is just starting it’s book tour, and is out to buy! Jack has that amazing ability to lighten and make silliness of subject matters which are usually laden with weight and taboo, whilst managing to create a healthy channel for his own grief to express itself. His wisdom and understanding of the world is well beyond his 26 years, and thank goodness there are people like him making conversations which are so often avoided, accessible and brilliantly funny to anyone and everyone who comes across his work. I can't wait for you to hear Jack's episode. He is a wonderful human. * If you like what you hear, it would be so appreciated if you could rate, review and subscribe as we love hearing your thoughts and feedback, and it helps get the podcast to reach more ears (apparently). * Created | Hosted | Produced by Angharad George-Carey Mastered and Compressed | by Worgie Productions Music | by Julietta * Social Media: Angharad George-Carey @angharadgeorgecarey Liam Hackett @diageoliam Ditch the Label @ditchthelabel Daddy Issues Podcast @thedaddyissuespodcast * If you'd like to seek guidance and support for any issues raised in the episodes there are three websites we would recommend depending on your individual needs: www.juliasamuel.co.uk JULIA SAMUEL MBE www.blackmindsmatteruk.com BLACK MINDS MATTER www.griefuntangled.com GREIF UNTANGLED www.thecalmzone.net CALM * We love hearing from you!
