This time they will blame the Saudis for the Anthony Joshua-Deontay Wilder fight falling through. But, what about the last 7 years? What explains those. It is convenient that the shifting political sands in the Saudi Royal Court have scuppered the fight, but it was a result of sitting on the egg long after the chick should have hatched. The real winners in all of this are the Furys, who have shown the Saudis that they are willing to support their ambition in any way they can.

Dean's Chat host, Dr. Jeffrey Jensen, is joined by Dr. Joshua Wilder. Dr. Wilder is a 2016 graduate of Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine, he completed his residency training at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh and completed a fellowship in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery at Emory St. Joseph Hospital in Atlanta. In Joshua's spare time, he competed on Survivor 44, which aired on CBS this past spring. Dr. Jensen is joined by co-host, Marc Rademacher, a 3rd-year student at the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine and a self-described “Survivor Fanatic” – a fun episode highlighting a young leader in our profession through his medical training, personal medical issues including a kidney transplant, and his quest for adventure, culminating in his participation on Survivor 44! Enjoy! Dr. Wilder highlights the challenges of balancing their surgical career with the demands of participating in interviews and the audition process for a reality TV show. He mentions the time-consuming nature of interviews, which could last between 30 and 45 minutes and involve meeting with multiple producers and executives. He also mentioned the logistical difficulties of meeting various timelines and requirements, such as obtaining medical clearances within specific timeframes. Dr. Wilder discusses his decision to conceal his profession as a surgeon on the show due to concerns about becoming a target. He noted that historically, financially well-off or prepared surgeons and doctors tend not to fare well in the game. He speculated that if other contestants knew they were a physician, they might perceive them as strategic or not in need of the money, making them a threat and a target for elimination. Additionally, he mentions that his physicality already made them a target, as physically strong players are often seen as threats and targeted before the merge. Over 50% of LGBTQIA-plus people have experienced some form of healthcare discrimination and over 25% of transgender people reported being denied care due to their transgender status. Not having proper health care or avoiding health care due to discrimination, can result in dire consequences, including an increased risk of health problems like kidney disease. What is this discrimination, and how can you advocate for yourself and LGBTQIA+ rights? In today's episode Dr. Joshua Wilder, a podiatrist, and Representative Jeff Currey, two kidney transplant recipients and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, discuss this and more. On today's episode we heard from: Dr. Joshua J. Wilder- My name is Joshua Wilder and I am a 35 year old foot and ankle surgeon. I identify as a cis, gay, black, man who currently lives in Atlanta, GA. I am a native of Pittsburgh, PA with an upbringing in Cincinnati, OH. I was born with Prune Belly syndrome which required me to have a kidney transplant at 9 years old. I was on season 44 of the grammy-nominated, reality tv show Survivor 44. My favorite pastime is living life to the fullest. Rep. Jeff Currey- A lifelong resident of East Hartford by way of County Limerick, and a proud son, brother, and uncle, is currently serving a fifth term representing the 11th Assembly District, which is made up of parts of East Hartford and Manchester. Jeff, a former Deputy Majority Leader who chaired the Screening Committee on behalf of Majority Leader Rojas, currently serves on the Appropriations, Commerce, and Judiciary Committees. Starting in the 2023 legislative session, Jeff shifted leadership roles to take on the House Chair of the Education Committee, which he has served on since joining the legislature in 2015. Jeff has also worked tirelessly to bolster protections for living organ donors. As a kidney transplant recipient himself, Jeff introduced legislation in 2020 and 2021 to prohibit insurers from discriminating against living organ donors. This episode is a roundup of things that have been 'interesting' in boxing. The pickings are slim, but we made lemonade with the lemons we got. One thing that should be said is that boxing will be killed by its own fans. i am not sure if a sport is supported by so many people filled with anger and hate. I can never understand how people can get so revved up by people they don't even know, even at the expense of the people they know, that love them. We live in a strange world.
